God With Us: Finding Strength in Pain, Weakness, and Sin

The sermon is a pastorally warm and Christ-centered exposition of Matthew 1, effectively connecting the incarnation to the atonement. However, it is fundamentally undermined by a synergistic presentation of the gospel in the altar call, which places the decisive act of salvation on human acceptance rather than divine regeneration. This critical error, combined with a misapplication of the sacramental warning in 1 Corinthians 11, corrupts the core soteriological and sacramental doctrines being taught.

🔍 Biblical Discernment: The 7 Church Parallels
The Faithful Parallels Smyrna • Philadelphia
Teaching that parallels the churches that endure suffering with true spiritual riches (Rev 2:9) and keep the Word of Christ without denial despite having "little strength" (Rev 3:8).
The Cold Orthodox Parallel Ephesus
Teaching that upholds doctrinal precision yet parallels the loss of the "first love"—the vital, motivating power of the Gospel (Rev 2:4).
The Formalist Parallels Sardis • Laodicea
Teaching that parallels churches relying on a reputation of being alive while being spiritually dead (Rev 3:1), or resting in lukewarm self-sufficiency, claiming to be "rich" while spiritually bankrupt (Rev 3:17).
The Compromised Parallels Pergamum • Thyatira
Teaching that parallels churches tolerating the "doctrine of Balaam" through cultural accommodation (Rev 2:14), or allowing seductive teachings that lead the flock into false gospels and immorality (Rev 2:20).
Why strictly "Mark & Avoid"?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This church's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.

🧐 Overview

Sermon Summary: This Christmas sermon explores the profound meaning of 'Emmanuel'—God with us. It pastorally connects the incarnation to our real-life experiences of pain, weakness, and failure, showing how Jesus enters our messy reality not to condemn, but to save. The message culminates in a call to prepare one's heart for communion by receiving Christ.

Big Idea: Christmas is the announcement that God has stepped into our world. That's what Christmas is... Christmas isn't just always celebrating that who is around the table, it's remembering who has stepped into the room when Jesus came into our lives into this earth he filled the empty chairs of humanity that lets us know that God is with us. Pastoral Analysis: The sermon is a pastorally warm and Christ-centered exposition of Matthew 1, effectively connecting the incarnation to the atonement.

Biblical Parallel(Archetype): Pergamum — The sermon contains much that is orthodox and warm, yet tolerates a fatal compromise in its doctrine of salvation, promoting a man-centered mechanism for faith.

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard

Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error

CategoryStatusReasoning
Soteriology ❌ FAIL The salvation call is explicitly synergistic, instructing the sinner to pray 'I accept you' (01:14:49 ▶️ 📄). This frames salvation as a human decision rather than a sovereign work of God, which constitutes a fundamental error.
Bibliology ✅ PASS The sermon affirms the authority and truthfulness of Scripture, reading directly from the text and using it as the foundation for the message.
Hermeneutic ✅ PASS The sermon's main point—God with us—is derived directly from the text (Matthew 1:23). It correctly connects the incarnation to the atonement, demonstrating a sound redemptive-historical hermeneutic.
Theology Proper ✅ PASS The sermon presents God as immanent, compassionate, holy, and intimately involved with His creation, consistent with orthodox teaching.
Sacramentology ❌ FAIL The table is correctly fenced for believers, but the warning from 1 Corinthians 11 is misapplied as a direct physical threat to unbelievers (01:12:21 ▶️ 📄), rather than a warning to believers partaking in an unworthy manner. This distorts the nature of the warning.

📖 How they Handle Scripture & Jesus

Primary Text: Matthew 1:18-23 (Expository (Deep))

Scripture Saturation: Verses Read: 42 | Referenced: 4 | Alluded: 2

Key References: Isaiah (Man of sorrows, acquainted with grief), Matthew 28:20, Revelation 21:3, 1 Corinthians (Communion warning)

Christological Connection: Redemptive Trajectory: The sermon anchors the Christmas narrative (Immanuel) directly to the Atonement, stating: 'The manger points to the cross and the cradle leads us to Calvary' (01:04:34 ▶️ 📄). Christ's purpose is defined as saving people from their sins.

🧱 Sermon Outline

  • Introduction: Christmas is God Stepping In [00:53:43 ▶️ 📄] : Christmas is more than a season or tradition; it is the announcement that God has stepped into our world (Emmanuel).
  • Point 1: God is with us in our pain [00:55:47 ▶️ 📄] : Jesus was born into poverty and hardship. He understands pain, grief, and loss. He sits with us in the waiting rooms of life.
  • Point 2: God is with us in our weaknesses [00:59:09 ▶️ 📄] : Jesus came to the outcasts (shepherds, poor, rejected). God is not afraid of our weakness or brokenness; weakness is an invitation for grace.
  • Point 3: God is with us in our sin [01:04:09 ▶️ 📄] : Jesus came to remove sin. The manger points to the cross. God is not afraid of our mess.
  • Point 4: God is with us forever [01:05:54 ▶️ 📄] : Christmas is not God visiting, but God moving in. He is with us always, even unto the end of the world.
  • Conclusion & Altar Call (The Heart) [01:07:23 ▶️ 📄] : Focus shifts from the symptom of sin to the condition of the heart. Call to examine the heart and make things right with God before communion.

💧 Sacraments & Ordinances

"You know, the Catholics will be gathering here in the next few days and they believe in transubstantiation... We don't believe that. But we do believe in consubstantiation that bread is still bread and juice is still the juice. But we believe also that when we take this, that He sits with us."

Fencing the Table (Communion):

  • Believers Only Stated: ✅ Yes
  • Warning Against Unworthy Manner: ✅ Yes
  • Verbatim Warning: "The Bible tells us that you ain't got to be a member of a church to take it, but you got to be a Christian. He says, because if you're not a Christian, you're either going to get sick or you can die."

🗝️ Key Topics & Themes

  • Emmanuel : God with us.
  • Presence of God : God is not distant, but sits with us in suffering and weakness.
  • The Heart : The condition of sin is the heart, not just the symptoms.

✅ Commendations

Homiletics | Christ-Centered Connection

The sermon powerfully and correctly connects the incarnation to the atonement with the line, 'The manger points to the cross and the cradle leads us to Calvary' (01:04:34 ▶️ 📄). This is a vital and well-articulated point of biblical theology.

Pastoral Theology | Compassionate Application

The use of illustrations like the 'empty chair' (00:54:33 ▶️ 📄) and the 'hospital waiting room' (00:57:17 ▶️ 📄) demonstrates a deep empathy and effectively applies the doctrine of God's presence to human suffering.

Theology Proper (Sin) | Accurate Diagnosis of Sin

The distinction between the 'symptom of sin' (actions) and the 'condition of sin' (the heart) at 01:08:02 ▶️ 📄 is an excellent and crucial theological point that elevates the sermon beyond mere moralism.

⚠️ Theological Concerns

🔴 Synergistic Salvation Model

Root Cause: Semi-Pelagianism / Synergism. This view denies the biblical doctrine of Total Depravity by assuming man is merely 'sick' and retains the spiritual ability to make the final, decisive choice for God, thereby making salvation a cooperative effort between God and man.

"I accept you as my Lord and Savior and I will serve you from this day forward." [01:14:49 ▶️ 📄]

Correction: Salvation is a work of God from beginning to end. Man is spiritually dead and cannot initiate his own salvation (Ephesians 2:1-5). It is God who grants repentance and faith (Acts 11:18, Philippians 1:29). We are saved by grace through faith, and this faith itself is a gift from God, not a product of our own will (Ephesians 2:8-9).

🟠 Misapplication of Sacramental Warning

Root Cause: Sacramental Misapplication (Superstition). This error treats the elements as having a magical or automatic power to harm, rather than understanding the judgment as God's covenantal discipline upon His own people for profaning a holy sign.

"He says, because if you're not a Christian, you're either going to get sick or you can die." [01:12:21 ▶️ 📄]

Correction: 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 addresses those who eat and drink 'unworthily,' calling for self-examination among believers ('let a man examine himself'). The judgment mentioned is disciplinary action from the Lord upon His own people ('we are judged by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world') to correct them, not a curse on unbelievers.

📝 Other Corrections & Notes

  • He was placed into this world not in comfort, but in a borrowed womb...Correction: While the sentiment is understood, the term 'borrowed womb' is theologically and biologically inaccurate. Mary was Jesus' true mother, and the womb was her own. This phrasing can unintentionally diminish the reality of the incarnation and Mary's role. (Luke 1:31, Galatians 4:4)

[00:09:28] It says, Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise, when as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
[00:09:42] Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
[00:09:53] But while he thought on these things,
[00:09:55] Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
[00:10:15] and she shall bring forth a son and I shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth the son and they shall call his name Emmanuel which being interpreted is God
[00:10:44] with us can you bow your heads with me father god we thank you oh god for another opportunity to come before your presence god we thank you oh god that you're just awesome you're mighty and you're holy now god we ask you to forgive us of all our sins sins of omission as well as sins of commission father god we pray right now oh god that you will cultivate our hearts right now and cultivate our minds oh god

[00:11:19] Now, God, we take our hands off of every situation, every circumstance.
[00:11:25] We cast it to you, oh God, because you will care for us.
[00:11:28] And we give you glory in this place, in Jesus' name.

[00:32:24] I want to hand it over to them and allow them to do what they're going to do.
[00:32:30] I don't know if they've got something they want to say or what they want to do.
[00:32:36] First, give Whitney a big old hand.
[00:32:41] She is our children's director.

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
Hey, good morning.
[00:32:49] So we're the Kingdom Kids.
[00:32:51] We have kids 11 and under up from four.
[00:32:55] Oakland's with us too, so we'll take the four-year-olds too.
[00:32:58] But they have prepared something very special.
[00:33:02] They have really sacrificed to practice, put in the hours and the work just to tell you guys Jesus' story in a different way.
[00:33:12] So our prayer has been that it touches every heart
[00:33:15] and just, I don't know, ignite something in you this season what it's really about.

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]:
The virgin's name was Mary, and having come in, the angel said to her,
[00:34:29] Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you.
[00:34:32] Blessed are you among women.
[00:34:34] But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
[00:34:43] Then the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
[00:34:50] And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son, and his name shall be called Jesus.
[00:34:59] He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest.
[00:35:05] And the Lord will give him the throne of his father David.
[00:35:11] And he will reign over the house of Jacob forever.
[00:35:15] and of his kingdom there will be no end then mary said to the angel how can this be since i do not know a man and the angel answered and said to her the old holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the highest will overshadow you therefore also that holy one who is to be born will be called the son of god

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
and it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered Joseph went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judea to the city of David which is called Bethlehem because he was of the house and lineage of David to be registered with Mary his betrothed wife who was with child
[00:36:15] So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
[00:36:21] And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
[00:36:32] Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
[00:36:44] And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
[00:36:54] Then the angel said to them,

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_10]:
Behold, I will bring you good tidings of great joy, which will be to all people.
[00:37:05] For there is born to you in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
[00:37:11] And this will be a sign to you.
[00:37:12] You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths along the manger.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
[00:37:29] So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Hey, let's go see what's happening in Bethlehem.
[00:37:39] Yeah, let's go.
[00:37:40] And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in a manger.
[00:37:48] Now when they had seen him, they made widely known the saying which was told to them concerning this child.
[00:37:59] And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told to them by the shepherds.
[00:38:06] But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.
[00:38:13] Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen as it was told to them.
[00:38:23] Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
[00:38:41] And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
[00:38:50] So they said to him,
[00:38:53] For thus it is written by the prophet, Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.
[00:39:02] And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, Go and search carefully for the young child.
[00:39:08] When you have found him, bring back word to me that I may come and worship him also.
[00:39:12] When they heard the king, they departed.
[00:39:17] and then behold the star which they had seen in the east went before them before it stood over where the young child was when they saw the star they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy and when they had come into the house they saw the child with Mary and his mother
[00:39:40] They fell down and worshipped Him, and when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_03]:
Silent night, holy night All is bright, all is bright

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_13]:
Come, yon Virgin, Mother and Child Holy infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_03]:
Sleep in heavenly peace

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_07]:

[00:46:21] This guy back here, he's always trying to make it work for everybody, and that's the hardest task in the world is trying to please everybody.
[00:46:28] So I just tell him to please my wife, and if she feels good about it, then it's great.

[00:47:12] She's like, what in the world?
[00:47:16] Appreciate her, I think she's been going on, I don't know, seven or eight years now working with those, and I appreciate her dedication and her love for God.

[00:47:55] I'm going to ask the ushers to come.
[00:47:56] Brother Travis is going to come.
[00:47:57] He's going to help us take up the offering.
[00:47:59] And I want to just say thank you for supporting the church.
[00:48:02] This is your last chance to be able to give before Christmas.
[00:48:06] Let me ask you to give.
[00:48:07] Let God bless you.
[00:48:09] Let God bless you in your gift.
[00:48:11] You've seen our students.
[00:48:12] You've seen what the Lord's done in their lives.
[00:48:14] You can't out-give God in the blessings that He has blessed us with.
[00:48:18] And I appreciate all that you have done to do it, to help us.
[00:48:24] to reach a harvest you know one person giving their heart to Christ is more important than all the money that we have in the world you know that when that person goes to hell they wish that we would that you would say man i would have gave it all i would have gave it all so father bless this offering use it for your glory i pray that you use these seeds that we sow father to finish our year out strong
[00:48:47] You've blessed us, God, and I want to be a blessing.
[00:48:51] And Father, you didn't bless us just to be blessed, but you blessed us to be a blessing.
[00:48:55] Father, bless every person that gives this morning.
[00:48:57] Meet every need that we have.
[00:48:59] And Father, we'll give you thanks and praise for what you accomplish and what you do.
[00:49:03] In Jesus' name, amen.

[00:49:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]:
Praise God.
[00:49:08] If somebody could grab Sister Natalie and Luke, if they're available real quick.
[00:49:13] Just real quick.
[00:49:14] And Bailey, if you can come on up here with your daddy, that'd be wonderful.
[00:49:18] Amen.
[00:49:18] We just want to bless our pastor and his family.
[00:49:21] Amen.
[00:49:22] Tell them how much we appreciate them.
[00:49:23] We want to let them know we have a Merry Christmas on behalf of the church.
[00:49:27] We've got some cards we want to present to them and just love on them a little bit.
[00:49:31] Amen.
[00:49:33] Praise God.
[00:49:34] We'll give them just one more second.
[00:49:35] If you will, I want you to stand because I'm going to ask you when we get done just to stretch your hands this way and pray for our pastor and our pastor's family.
[00:49:42] We're thankful for the year, for their service that they provided.
[00:49:47] Amen.
[00:49:50] Praise God.
[00:50:00] Praise God.
[00:50:01] I know that, you know, the Bible says give honor where honors do.
[00:50:04] Amen.
[00:50:04] I believe in honor and our leaders and loving on them even sometimes it's uncomfortable.
[00:50:10] Amen.
[00:50:11] But we still got, we still got a love on them.
[00:50:14] Praise God.
[00:50:15] Hallelujah.
[00:50:16] We're gonna give them about 30 more seconds and we'll go, we'll go ahead.
[00:50:20] I'm hoping they'll be, they coming.
[00:50:24] Amen.
[00:50:26] Praise God.
[00:50:28] Hallelujah.
[00:50:29] Y'all start praying for Natalie to move into this sanctuary.
[00:50:33] Amen.
[00:50:33] I believe in prayer.
[00:50:34] Amen.
[00:50:40] Praise God.
[00:50:41] Alright, so on behalf of the Church of God, brother, we love you and Merry Christmas.
[00:50:48] Amen.
[00:50:50] This is Sister Natalie.

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]:
God, I'll tell it.

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]:
Bailey, you made it.
[00:50:55] Amen.
[00:50:56] And if you want to give that to Luke, amen.
[00:50:58] If you will, stand with me just a second.
[00:51:00] Stretch your hands this way.
[00:51:01] And let's pray for this family.
[00:51:03] Father, we thank you, Lord, for our pastor and his family, God.
[00:51:06] We thank you, Lord, for the year, God, that they provided, Lord.
[00:51:09] And I know it's called service, God, but I call it servanthood, Father.
[00:51:14] Also, Lord, is what you said for us to do, God.
[00:51:16] And I'm thankful for the example, God, that they give us, Father.
[00:51:20] Lord, day after day, week after week, and year after year, Lord, I'm thankful, God, for the ten years I've been here, God, under this ministry, God, Lord, that you have changed my life, God, through Morrisville Church of God and through your power and your strength, Lord.
[00:51:34] God, I pray you continue to touch our pastor's body, Lord, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, God.
[00:51:40] I thank you for the resurrecting power of Jesus Christ, God, that called dead bodies out of graves, Lord, that raised dead people, Lord, out of the ground, Father, Lord, and changed them by your power, Father, and I'm thankful that that power, God, has touched our pastor, Lord.
[00:51:56] I pray, God, you touch Sister Natalie, God, as she continues to stand by our pastor, Lord,
[00:52:01] God, and just touch them, Lord, and be with them and strengthen them, Lord.
[00:52:05] And I thank you for Bailey, God, and Luke, God.
[00:52:08] I pray, God, you just bless them and help them.
[00:52:10] Father, we give you honor and we give you glory and we give you praise.
[00:52:13] And we thank you, Lord, for the spirit of Christmas, which is Jesus Christ.
[00:52:17] Amen.
[00:52:18] Praise God.

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]:
Will you turn and shake somebody's hand and just tell them Merry Christmas this morning and remain standing with me and grab your Bibles to Matthew chapter 1.
[00:52:29] I want to just say I'm planning on sharing today just for a few moments what the Lord's laid on my heart.
[00:52:36] Matthew chapter 1.
[00:52:37] If you'll remain standing.
[00:52:45] Amen.
[00:52:45] Grab your Bibles, Matthew chapter 1.
[00:52:47] Let me just say this morning we're going to take communion.
[00:52:49] Tonight we are not.
[00:52:51] I know everybody's schedule has been jam-packed.
[00:52:53] You've been at the church every night of the week.
[00:52:55] So we're going to take it at the conclusion of our service.
[00:52:57] We have a gift we want to give everybody as they leave as well.
[00:53:00] So please don't run out of air without receiving something from us.
[00:53:03] I want to say thank you for being with us today.
[00:53:05] We love you.
[00:53:06] Most of all, you know what?
[00:53:07] We love Jesus, right?
[00:53:08] And that's our heart and that's the desire that we want you to experience.
[00:53:11] Matthew chapter 1 verse 23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and he shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel.
[00:53:24] being interpreted is God with us will you join with me in prayer one more time Father bless this service let us hear the voice of God let it come alive in our hearts and we'll give you thanks in Jesus name Amen one more time give the Lord a hand of praise thank you thank you
[00:53:43] You may be seated all over the house.
[00:53:46] I want to just share just a few moments of what the Lord has laid on my heart.
[00:53:49] I have missed being here and sharing with you.
[00:53:52] You know it's like if you're a preacher, you've got to do it.
[00:53:55] You'll do it wherever you've got to do it.
[00:53:57] You've got to be out there by yourself.
[00:53:59] You've just got to let it out.
[00:54:00] You've got to share what God's put inside of you.
[00:54:04] And I want to share with you something this morning on that God is with us.
[00:54:08] Christmas is more than a season, right?
[00:54:11] If you look at Christmas as just a season, you'll be greatly disappointed.
[00:54:15] I know all of us are in different seasons in our life.
[00:54:18] Christmas is more than lights.
[00:54:20] Christmas is more than songs.
[00:54:22] Christmas is more than traditions.
[00:54:24] Christmas is the announcement that God has stepped into our world.
[00:54:29] That's what Christmas is.
[00:54:30] Christmas, many families have an empty chair.
[00:54:33] And I looked at this empty chair right over there and I thought about it, how many families this Christmas will have empty chairs.
[00:54:40] That empty chair represents a person that has passed.
[00:54:43] It represents a person, somebody maybe that's deployed, that's serving or working or something that they're unable to be.
[00:54:50] Maybe it's a spouse that walked away.
[00:54:53] Maybe it's somebody that left the family.
[00:54:55] The decorations are up.
[00:54:56] but something is still missing and you know what I thought about that Christmas isn't just always celebrating that who is around the table it's remembering who has stepped into the room when Jesus came into our lives into this earth he filled the empty chairs of humanity that lets us know that God is with us not God above us not God distant from us but God with us can somebody say amen
[00:55:26] God with us.
[00:55:28] From Genesis to Revelation, the greatest fear has been separation from God, from hope, from peace, but guess what?
[00:55:36] Christmas answers that with one word.
[00:55:39] That one word is Emmanuel, meaning God with us.
[00:55:44] There is no more separation.
[00:55:47] God is with us in our pain.
[00:55:49] Amen?
[00:55:49] God is with us in our pain.
[00:55:51] Jesus was not born into comfort.
[00:55:54] You know, the Bible, the story that you see and that read, and the little depictions of the Nativity, I want you to understand, He was placed into this world not in comfort, but in a borrowed womb, in a borrowed manger, and in a borrowed home.
[00:56:13] He entered into poverty.
[00:56:15] He came into hardship.
[00:56:17] And He walked into brokenness.
[00:56:19] And Isaiah, the Bible says, He was a man of sorrows.
[00:56:23] He was acquainted with grief.
[00:56:25] You know, you are not worshiping a Savior that doesn't understand pain.
[00:56:30] You're worshiping a Savior that understands hardship.
[00:56:34] You're worshiping a Savior that understands difficulty, that understands brokenness, He understands loss, He understands, He knows what it means to cry.
[00:56:46] You know, when I think about that with God, God's not so far removed from our emotions that He doesn't know what we're feeling.
[00:56:54] You know, I think about that.
[00:56:55] When I was in the hospital waiting room a few weeks ago and I was there and I was in the back there and I didn't let anybody know and Brother Travis called and he said, What in the world?
[00:57:06] You didn't let me know you was in the hospital.
[00:57:08] I'm like, Nah, I thought I was just going to get some bread in the zone and I'll be some antibiotics and I was going to be out of here.
[00:57:14] And come to find out it wasn't that simple.
[00:57:17] and it was difficult and in that I thought about how that in that waiting room that I was in everyone knows the silence of a hospital waiting room.
[00:57:29] Everybody knows when you're just sitting there or you're even in the room behind the curtain and you're waiting for something.
[00:57:36] No words can fix the waiting that you're in.
[00:57:39] There is no conversations that can have and there is no timeline that comforts us.
[00:57:46] There's no answers to explain it.
[00:57:48] And what matters most is those who sit beside you.
[00:57:52] And you know what?
[00:57:53] I was sitting there and my wife was right there beside me.
[00:57:57] And she was sitting there trying to comfort me and bring solace into my anxiety and fear.
[00:58:04] But Jesus didn't just shout hope from heaven, somebody.
[00:58:09] Jesus didn't sit in the celestial throne room and tell somebody that it's going to be okay down there.
[00:58:15] Guess what?
[00:58:16] He sits with us in our suffering.
[00:58:19] He sits right there in the waiting rooms of life with us.
[00:58:23] He sits right there with us in the graveyard and in the funeral homes of life.
[00:58:29] God is with us in our suffering.
[00:58:32] He doesn't remove the pain always immediately, but guess what?
[00:58:36] He never removes His presence.
[00:58:39] He will never leave you.
[00:58:40] He will never forsake you and He will be with you forever.
[00:58:44] Somebody praise the Lord that God is with us.
[00:58:49] Hallelujah.
[00:58:51] So whatever pain that you carried in this service, remember this, God is with you in it.
[00:59:01] Amen.
[00:59:04] Not just that God is with you.
[00:59:06] But He's with me in it.
[00:59:09] God is with us in our weaknesses.
[00:59:12] Jesus didn't come to strong people who had it together.
[00:59:17] I thank God for strength, but He doesn't show up in our strength.
[00:59:24] He goes to shepherds.
[00:59:26] Shepherds are the outcasts of the day.
[00:59:29] He goes to the poor.
[00:59:31] He goes to the rejected, the alone, the forgot about.
[00:59:36] That's who God shows up.
[00:59:39] And listen, He even shows up to teen age parents.
[00:59:45] Shows up into a home where there is
[00:59:50] Brokenness of sinners in this world shows up in life.
[00:59:55] The Bible says we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities.
[01:00:02] You know, I've told my wife that sometimes life is messy.
[01:00:06] It's not always sanitized.
[01:00:09] Stainless Steel and everything is clean and sanctified sometimes life is dirty sometimes life is hard sometimes life is messy sometimes life is filthy and sometimes people don't always wait for everything to be in the marks to be checked off of the box but I want to tell you something God's not afraid of your weakness God's not afraid of the brokenness of your life God is not afraid of the
[01:00:38] What man has cast aside, God said, I am with you in that place.
[01:00:45] Hallelujah.
[01:00:46] I tell this all the time and I believe this, that you know what, there may be accidental parents, but there is never an accidental child.
[01:00:56] There may have been parents that are accidents, but every child is a gift from God.
[01:01:03] and every life was conceived in the eternity and the breath of God breathed into that cell and calls it a light I read somewhere the other couple months ago that when that moment of conception happens a burst of light happens in that womb
[01:01:21] God puts His hand upon that flesh and creates something out of nothing.
[01:01:28] You know, I want you to understand something about God.
[01:01:31] God does not cast it away because it is broken.
[01:01:35] I asked my wife yesterday, I said, I need some broken ornaments.
[01:01:39] She said, why are you telling me this right now?
[01:01:40] And I said, well, I can eat some.
[01:01:42] And then Bailey said, well, Bailey, she collects nutcrackers and got all these pretty different ones of all these different things.
[01:01:50] And I said, honey, you got a nutcracker that's broken?
[01:01:53] And of course she's got one.
[01:01:55] We got Luke in the house, right?
[01:01:59] And so she brings one in there and I forgot it this morning.
[01:02:02] She said, I can't get rid of this one.
[01:02:05] This one is my favorite.
[01:02:07] But it don't have the handle.
[01:02:09] that crashed to nothing no more.
[01:02:12] And I thought about God.
[01:02:14] God doesn't get rid of you because you're broken.
[01:02:20] Because you are his favorite.
[01:02:22] If he had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
[01:02:26] If he had a wallet, it would be inside of it.
[01:02:28] Why?
[01:02:29] Because God loves you.
[01:02:31] He cares about you.
[01:02:32] He has a plan for you.
[01:02:34] And though the world may have broke you, maybe you have broke you, but God still loves you and don't throw you away.
[01:02:42] Hallelujah.
[01:02:46] We got a tradition of buying an ornament every year.
[01:02:49] For all the kids and the family and in that some of them ornaments through the years have not always made it.
[01:02:57] But guess what?
[01:02:58] Just because they didn't make it means we didn't throw it away.
[01:03:02] Because it had value and meant something.
[01:03:05] You know, weakness is not rejection.
[01:03:09] Weakness is an invitation for the grace of God to show up in our lives.
[01:03:15] Your weakness does not disqualify you, praise God.
[01:03:19] Your weakness actually qualifies you.
[01:03:22] because Christmas reminds us that God draws near when we feel far from him 400 years of silence 400 years of no utterance in your Bible from Malachi the last page until the book of Matthew there's a page there that's got nothing wrote on it that's 400 years of silence God spoke nothing but then in the fullness of time God sent
[01:03:51] God sent His Son into this world born of a virgin.
[01:03:55] Why?
[01:03:56] That we might have life and have it more abundantly.
[01:04:00] Emmanuel, God, is with us.
[01:04:04] Somebody praise God for that.
[01:04:09] God's with us in our sin.
[01:04:11] I'm going to be honest.
[01:04:12] The Bible's name just wasn't Emmanuel.
[01:04:15] It was Jesus.
[01:04:17] You shall call His name Jesus.
[01:04:22] For He will save His people from their sins.
[01:04:27] He didn't come to excuse your sin, but He come to remove your sin.
[01:04:34] The manger points to the cross and the cradle leads us to Calvary.
[01:04:41] The reality is there is no sin that is too dark.
[01:04:47] There is no past that is too dirty.
[01:04:50] There is no failure that is too final.
[01:04:54] And as I preached years ago, down is not your destiny.
[01:04:58] A child falls in the mud on their way home.
[01:05:02] The parent, they don't clean themselves first.
[01:05:05] They run their home crying to mom and dad.
[01:05:09] A good parent doesn't say, Honey, go clean yourself up before I hold you.
[01:05:15] Go clean yourself up before you come inside.
[01:05:17] What does a good mama and daddy do?
[01:05:19] Come here baby, let me take care of you.
[01:05:22] I'll take care of it.
[01:05:23] I want you to understand Jesus didn't come because we were clean.
[01:05:28] He came because we were dirty.
[01:05:31] The manger proves that God is not afraid of our mess that we are in.
[01:05:38] If God is willing to come to earth for you, guess what?
[01:05:41] He will forgive you today of your sin and your unrighteousness.
[01:05:47] So let me get ready to close.
[01:05:49] I told you I wouldn't be long.
[01:05:52] Number four.
[01:05:54] God is with us forever.
[01:05:59] Hallelujah.
[01:06:01] Jesus didn't come for a moment.
[01:06:04] He came for eternity.
[01:06:07] Matthew chapter 28 verse 20.
[01:06:10] Lo, I am with you always.
[01:06:15] Even unto the end of the world.
[01:06:20] Revelation 21 verse 3 says, The dwelling of God is with men.
[01:06:28] What does that mean?
[01:06:29] Christmas is not God is visiting.
[01:06:33] Christmas is God is moving in.
[01:06:38] You know what it means?
[01:06:39] You may feel alone this morning.
[01:06:43] You may feel broken.
[01:06:45] You may feel forgot about.
[01:06:47] You may feel overlooked.
[01:06:49] You may feel just rejected by life.
[01:06:54] But Christmas is this.
[01:06:56] God is with you.
[01:07:00] Not after you fix yourself.
[01:07:03] Sister Ashley, come help me close.
[01:07:06] God is not with you after you clean yourself up.
[01:07:10] God is with you in your pain.
[01:07:13] He's with you in your heartache.
[01:07:17] We have a loving God that reaches His hand out so strong toward us.
[01:07:23] You know, when I was a young preacher, and a lot of young people that get saved and feel called of God has this ignorance to them, is that they chase after the symptom of sin instead of the condition of sin.
[01:07:40] So we preach the symptoms, which is lying, drinking, smoking, cheating, running around, doing all this and that.
[01:07:48] You gotta stop it.
[01:07:49] Well, you can stop it and still go to hell.
[01:07:55] You can paint a pretty picture all you want and still be as wretched and miserable on the inside.
[01:08:02] And as I got older, I realized it wasn't the symptom of sin, but it was the condition of sin.
[01:08:11] And the condition is, is the heart.
[01:08:14] My father-in-law, Danny, it was his birthday the other day.
[01:08:17] He would have been 79 years old.
[01:08:20] And I thought about him, and he talked one word a lot, and he said it a lot in his conversations, and it was heart.
[01:08:31] Heart.
[01:08:32] If it touches your heart, sissy, it'll touch their heart.
[01:08:36] That's what he said to Natalie.
[01:08:38] If it touches your heart, Donnie, it'll touch your heart.
[01:08:42] But if it don't move you, it ain't gonna move them.
[01:08:46] He'd always say that.
[01:08:47] He said our heart is where it matters.
[01:08:52] And I think so many times in our life, we may come with our Christmas best, but our heart feels so far from God.
[01:09:02] You know, I told my wife just yesterday, I said Christmas feels
[01:09:06] Almost like some kind of twilight zone at the moment.
[01:09:10] It feels like it flew in and it's about to fly out.
[01:09:15] It's like, what happened here?
[01:09:17] Where did it go?
[01:09:18] What took place?
[01:09:19] We've got tree up.
[01:09:20] We've got lights.
[01:09:20] We drove around and looked at the communities and we've Christmas partied ourselves till we've gained weight.
[01:09:30] Blood sugar is at an all-time high because the little Debbie Christmas trees is killing us.
[01:09:41] God help New Year come quickly, Jesus.
[01:09:49] Yet, we are the same that we was yesterday.
[01:09:56] And we will be the 26th unless Christ shows up in our life.
[01:10:05] Because on the 26th the world will still be hurting.
[01:10:11] On the 26th the stores will still be angry.
[01:10:16] People will still be mean.
[01:10:20] But listen to me, God will still be good.
[01:10:30] So what changes the perspective?
[01:10:34] That wherever I go, Christ is with me.
[01:10:41] So I want to ask you this morning, where's your heart?
[01:10:45] That's been my whole theme this year.
[01:10:46] It stuck in my gut back in March.
[01:10:52] And it said, check your heart.
[01:10:54] Check the posture of your heart.
[01:10:56] Check the place of your heart.
[01:10:59] And I believe, why?
[01:11:00] Because we saw this beautiful play directed by my beautiful wife, which I am so proud of.
[01:11:05] They worked so diligently hard.
[01:11:08] But we saw the rapture on the stage.
[01:11:12] Whether or not Christ comes today or not, I said it last night that the angel of death has been harvesting the souls of the fields and lives have been taken at an unprecedented rate, I feel, in the last little bit.
[01:11:29] Souls are being slain going into eternity whether or not they're ready to meet God.
[01:11:36] We're not promised tomorrow.
[01:11:37] A few weeks ago I had the situation in my own body that if I had not got enough medical care, enough quick of time, I could have saw Jesus face to face.
[01:11:48] But it was God's goodness and His grace that takes care of us.
[01:11:50] Every one of us are one breath away.
[01:11:54] We don't know what's lying in our body.
[01:11:57] So what do we need to be ready?
[01:11:59] Always ready.
[01:12:00] Ready for Jesus.
[01:12:01] Ready to live for Him.
[01:12:03] So I want to ask this question.
[01:12:04] We're about to take Communion.
[01:12:06] Tonight, we will not be having service.
[01:12:08] We're going to do it right now.
[01:12:11] Right now, we're going to take the Lord's Supper.
[01:12:12] But before we do that, we need to make sure we're right with God.
[01:12:15] The Bible tells us that you ain't got to be a member of a church to take it, but you got to be a Christian.
[01:12:21] He says, because if you're not a Christian, you're either going to get sick or you can die.
[01:12:26] He says, so let a man first examine his heart and make sure that everything is right with God.
[01:12:32] And so I want to ask you right now, with every head bowed and every eye closed, this Christmas season, is there one in this place that said, Pastor, I want to make it right with God.
[01:12:42] I want to give my life to Him.
[01:12:44] I want to know Christ lives in me.
[01:12:47] See, it's not showing up to a church or having your name on a roll or any of that.
[01:12:52] It's letting Him live inside of your heart.
[01:12:55] Letting Him change everything that you've done and are doing.
[01:13:01] If you don't know Him right now in simple, all you've got to do is admit.
[01:13:05] Believe in Him and confess with your mouth and you'll be saved, the Bible says.
[01:13:09] It's not hard.
[01:13:11] Man's made it harder than God made it for us.
[01:13:13] He said we've got to come like a child.
[01:13:16] If we come, He'll accept us.
[01:13:18] Maybe you've got away from Jesus, but today's the day to come back.
[01:13:22] I saw those young ladies lay on their head to the floor and to the ground holding their gifts as those magii that brought them to Jesus and I thought the posture of our heart laying it all to Jesus touched my heart I said God let us when we come to you bow before you in reference and honor if you came in here in pride
[01:13:45] Let God humble you today.
[01:13:46] If you came in here in places of sin, let Him cleanse you today.
[01:13:50] If you came dirty, let Him wash you.
[01:13:54] But He's the only one that can do it.
[01:13:57] If that's you, with every head bowed and every eye closed, I want to give you that chance right now.
[01:14:02] Say, that's me today, Pastor.
[01:14:04] I want you to raise that hand and say, I want to make it right with God.
[01:14:06] There's a hand.
[01:14:07] Is there anybody else?
[01:14:08] I want to be honest.
[01:14:09] There's another hand.
[01:14:10] I just want to make it right.
[01:14:13] Anybody else?
[01:14:14] There's two.
[01:14:15] It says, I just want to know that I know when I leave here that everything's right between me and the Lord.
[01:14:21] I want us to pray this right now before we take this communion.
[01:14:25] And those who raised that hand, I want this to be the sincerity of your heart.
[01:14:29] The prayer don't save you, but the heart does if you cry out with humility and confess Him.
[01:14:34] Dear Jesus, I give you my life.
[01:14:39] Wash me with your blood.
[01:14:41] Cleanse me.
[01:14:43] I believe you died on the cross and you rose again the third day.
[01:14:49] I accept you as my Lord and Savior and I will serve you from this day forward.
[01:14:56] In Jesus' name.
[01:14:58] Amen.
[01:14:59] Can we put our hands together for those that made that commitment to Christ?
[01:15:07] Right now, I want us to look at our hearts.
[01:15:09] Father, as we get ready to take this communion, I pray that you cleanse us.
[01:15:15] I pray that you wash us.
[01:15:16] I pray that you heal our bodies.
[01:15:19] I pray, God, that you give us the grace that we need in our lives.
[01:15:23] Father, I pray that we receive nourishment in our souls.
[01:15:27] Let us remember what you did for us on Calvary.
[01:15:30] And Father, we'll thank you and praise you, God, for all of your blessings and all that you've done and all that you're going to do.
[01:15:39] I want you to unwrap your piece of paper.
[01:15:42] There's a piece of bread there.
[01:15:44] The Bible says that we do this to show the Lord's death and we show His coming.
[01:15:50] So, can I tell you this?
[01:15:52] That I believe God heals our body when we take communion.
[01:15:57] He's with us in these moments that we're at.
[01:16:00] And I thank God for His grace.
[01:16:10] You know, the Catholics will be gathering here in the next few days and they believe in transubstantiation which believes that that one item is replaced by another item which means that bread actually turns to flesh and juice and wine turns to blood.
[01:16:28] We don't believe that.
[01:16:31] But we do believe in consubstantiation that bread is still bread and juice is still the juice.
[01:16:39] But we believe also that when we take this, that He sits with us.
[01:16:47] That we are not alone in taking this meal.
[01:16:51] This is one of the most Pentecostal acts that we do in our churches.
[01:16:55] This is New Testament.
[01:16:58] The Bible told them that they come together, break bread, and show as oft as you come together as the Lord shows comes.
[01:17:05] So this is why He came.
[01:17:08] This is why He broke the seal of eternity and stepped into time through a virgin's womb and placed into a feeding trough as a sacrifice for this world so that we might have eternal life in Him.
[01:17:26] His body was hung upon two pieces of wood and as this wood was lifted up from the ground on a place called the skull, Golgotha's heel,
[01:17:37] Malked, lied, abused, naked He stood there for us that we might have life Have it more abundantly So I want you to take this piece of bread And I want you to lift it toward heaven as they lifted His body And I want us to bless it Father, bless this bread as we get ready to take it
[01:18:06] We thank You for the body of Christ.
[01:18:10] We thank You for taking the sin upon Your body.
[01:18:16] Lord, You became sin for us who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of God.
[01:18:22] On Your body bore the stripes upon Your back for us and for our healing.
[01:18:29] And I pray, Father, right now that You bless this meal.
[01:18:33] God, let this be one of many that they take in the next few days that they remember what God has done for them.
[01:18:41] We thank you for your body.
[01:18:43] In Jesus' name.
[01:18:44] If you'll break it, and you'll take it.
[01:18:51] Now, if you'll open up that cup with us, the Jews.
[01:18:54] I want us to lift it toward heaven.
[01:18:57] Father, in the name of Jesus, we lift this toward heaven.
[01:19:01] The blood still speaks.
[01:19:04] The blood of Christ still heals.
[01:19:08] The blood of Christ still makes the devil run.
[01:19:13] And I thank you, Lord, that the blood that still washes us white as snow.
[01:19:18] Let us remember this sacrifice, God, as we take this cup.
[01:19:22] And remember what you did for us.
[01:19:25] I pray blessings upon it and I pray that God will show up in every person's life.
[01:19:30] that they'll see the hand of the Lord and that this Christmas season they will not forget what you've done for them.
[01:19:38] In Jesus' name.
[01:19:39] Amen.
[01:19:40] You may take the cup.
[01:19:44] Amen.
[01:19:46] Can you lift your hands right?
[01:19:47] Will you stand with me all over this place?
[01:19:49] We're going to give a moment to worship.
[01:19:52] Can we just lift our hands and thank God for His goodness in our life?
[01:19:56] He's worthy.
[01:19:58] Come on, right now, He's worthy, Father, we love you.
[01:20:01] Tell them, open your voice and tell them how much you love them.
[01:20:06] Lord, you're beautiful, you're wonderful.
[01:20:09] Bring healing to our families and healing to our bodies.
[01:20:13] Bring miracles into our lives.
[01:20:17] Let us see the hand of God.
[01:20:19] Move and release upon us, Jesus.
[01:20:23] If you need a touch from the Lord this morning, I want to open the altars right now.
[01:20:26] You say, Pastor, I would like for you to pray with me that God would do a miracle in my life, whether it's mental, emotional, financial, whatever, spiritual.
[01:20:37] You say, Pastor, I just need a touch from God this morning.
[01:20:40] I don't want to leave this service without opening up an opportunity to prayer.
[01:20:43] If you say, Pastor, I just need prayer, I want to see you to come as they sing this song.
[01:20:46] Will you lift your hands all over this place?
[01:20:48] Father, we sing.
[01:20:49] We give you glory, God.
[01:20:50] We give you glory right now.
[01:20:52] They're coming.
[01:20:53] In the name of Jesus.
[01:20:56] By your stripes we are healed.
[01:21:02] Father, we receive your healing and your touch.

[01:21:05] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_13]:
We receive your peace.
[01:21:19] Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:21:29] Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:21:38] And all the world can come to Him And have their sins removed
[01:21:48] Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:21:58] Isn't the name of Jesus beautiful?
[01:22:09] Isn't the name of Jesus beautiful?
[01:22:18] Son of God and one of us The lover of our souls Is the name of Jesus beautiful Eternal King You will reign forever
[01:22:46] We will sing the glory of your name Be lifted high for all the world to see Your name is all they need Your name is all they need
[01:23:15] Isn't the name of Jesus powerful?
[01:23:25] Isn't the name of Jesus powerful?
[01:23:33] Chains are broken when it's spoken and every knee must bow Isn't the name of Jesus powerful?
[01:23:53] Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:24:01] Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:24:11] And all the world can come to Him to have their sins removed Isn't the name of Jesus wonderful?
[01:24:27] Eternal King
[01:24:31] You will reign forever and we will sing the glory of your name.
[01:24:47] Thank you Father for your goodness.
[01:25:14] Isn't the name of Jesus beautiful?
[01:25:23] Son of God and one of us The lover of our souls Isn't the name of Jesus beautiful?
[01:25:38] Eternal King

So this Christmas season, let God go with you.
[01:28:50] Let the Lord walk with you, whatever you walk with.
[01:28:53] And remember this, if there's empty chairs in empty places, you are not alone.
[01:29:02] Amen.
[01:29:04] Give Jesus one more hand of praise.
[01:29:09] Those that are praying, if you want to continue to pray, but let me pray for you.
[01:29:12] Father, I pray blessings, O God, upon everyone in this place.
[01:29:17] I pray, Lord, that you touch us, speak to us.
[01:29:21] Let us not be deceived, Lord, by the things that come into our lives.
[01:29:26] Let us discern the voice of God and the voice of our flesh.
[01:29:30] Let us know what the Lord has spoke to us.
[01:29:34] Let us know what God is speaking in this moment.
[01:29:37] Father, I pray, Lord, that You bless Your people.
[01:29:41] Let the Holy Spirit have its way in their lives.

[01:29:59] that we continue to share the goodness of Christ in all four corners of this world.
