❓ What do these grades mean?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This ministry's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.
🧐 Overview
Theological Verdict & Summary
Sermon Summary: The sermon argues that entering a new season of God's calling requires decisively burning bridges to one's past, warning that delayed obedience is a form of divided loyalty that hinders future purpose.
Pastoral Analysis: While the sermon offers practical advice on cutting off toxic influences, it fundamentally compromises the Gospel by teaching that God is passive and dependent on human permission to act. This synergistic view undermines the doctrine of sovereign grace, placing the burden of spiritual transformation on human will rather than God's effectual call.
Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Sardis — The sermon presents a 'name that it is alive, but is dead' orthodoxy. While it utilizes biblical narratives, the core theological engine is replaced by a synergistic soteriology that denies the efficacy of God's sovereign grace. The teaching relies on human decision and the severing of past ties as the mechanism for spiritual progress, rather than the transformative power of the Gospel, resulting in a fundamentally dead spiritual state.
Big Idea: To enter a new season of God's calling, one must decisively burn the bridges to their past life through delayed obedience and holiness, ensuring that access to old habits or relationships does not hinder future purpose. [00:02:06 ▶️ 📄]

1 Kings 19:19-21
[00:02:38 ▶️ 📄]
"Elijah went and found Elisha's son of Shaphath plowing a field. He wasn't at home in bed. He was out plowing. He wasn't Netflixing, chilling. He wasn't twerking. He was working. So Elisha went and found Elisha's son of Shaphath plowing a field. There were 12 teams of oxen in the field. And Elisha was plowing with the 12th team. Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak across his shoulders and then walked away. Elisha left the oxen standing there, ran after Elijah and said to him, first, let me go and kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will go. Elijah replied, go back, go back, go back. But think about what I've done for you. All he wanted to do was go kiss his family. He was like, well, what do you want to go back for? Look at all I've done for you. So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He did exactly what he said. He used the wood from the plow to build the fire to roast their flesh. he passed around meat to the townspeople and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant. So Elijah didn't just follow God. He destroyed everything that would tempt him to go back as uncomfortable as it was. So this is the moment where Elisha is called into his purpose by Elijah. So 19, chapter 19, the call finds him working. Elisha finds Elisha plowing a field with 12 yoke of oxen. So that basically tells us that Elisha had something going for himself, right? He wasn't at home sleeping. He was out working. He was in the middle of responsibility, not hiding. He wasn't over here trying to pretend something was happening when it really wasn't. He was out here doing it. The fruit was speaking for itself. And so Elijah, Elijah throws his cloak on him. So that clock, that cloak clocked that moment for him. the mantle, the calling, the assignment at that right time. We see at that moment, because he was busy doing something. I know it's, it's hard because when you go through a season, you want to go lay in your bed and melt. All of us are the same. You want to go rot in your bed because the enemy has persuaded you that that's the best you're ever going to have what's behind you you're never going to fall in love again you're never going to you're already retirement age you're never going to meet your purpose you're never going to get your goals your marriage is never going to get better your kids are always going to be trifling you're going to always have pinch nerves you're going to always lay in the bed with sag nerve issues because all your life you've hurt. They give you blocks in your body to help heal the hurt, but it don't help. Within 24 hours, that knee's hurting again. Age. This is just age. And so what we do is we lay in our beds of affliction because movement, excitement, living is where our minds are open to see the gravity of all the greatness that is still coming. So if the enemy can keep you in bed, if the enemy can keep you in your house with the blinds closed, if the enemy can keep you worrying about that grown kid, if the enemy can keep you worried about that sin that you are hiding and hoping to God it never gets told, then you will never discover who God created you to be. So it basically tells us that Elijah throws his cloak on Elisha. And at that moment, the cloak equaled mantle, calling, assignment. There was no speech. There was no explanation. There was no blog telling about it. It was just something between him, Elisha, and Elijah. There was no explanation. There was no post on social media. Just a moment that says God is pulling you into something so much bigger. And I did not have to make an announcement. No speech, no explanation. Then in chapter 20, we see the decision where Elisha runs after Elijah and says, let me kiss my parents goodbye. And Elijah responds, go back, go back for what? Go back. He says, look what all I have done. In other words, he was saying, I didn't force you. This was your choice. You got a choice to make. I'm still going to love you if you do it. I'm going to love you if you don't. But the problem is, if you don't, you're going to still be in the same place you was a whole decade ago. I'll never forget when I was in a very toxic situation. And that little lady sitting right there in between those two good-looking men. She's 99 pounds soaking wet. Okay, 5'1". She calls me up after a very toxic, toxic situation. I am believing God. I have fasted. I have prayed. I mean, I am laying in my bed seeking God. And all of a sudden, this woman is going to call that has no idea about my life. Because I'm the type of person that I don't want nobody in my business. So if I got to cut all of you off, I will. That's where I was in this season. I was not as open as I am now. I was not as transparent as I am now. I was faking it and trying to make it and I wasn't making it and this little lady calls me one day and she says God wants me to ask you a question I said okay what is it she said God wants me to ask you do you want this in 20 years I said whoa that can't be God you don't know what's going on in my life you don't know how I've been standing and fasting for this situation it's been 18 years and I've been fighting like hell and she goes God just wants me to ask you that and that's all I need to say about it i love you kimberly good night i remember laying on that bed chelsea laying on the bed that was the devil that was the devil god get him god fix it and that little lady is up at three o'clock in the morning eating carpet for me she is praying she is interceded i didn't want to hear that i wanted to hear god's gonna work all things together that's concerning you and he's going to make things right. He's going to come through for you. But that wasn't what God was going to do because he can't change a heart that ain't listening. And that's exactly, I wasn't listening. Say Pastor Kim wasn't listening. Pastor Kim didn't want to hear that. I wasn't even a pastor then. I was coyote ugly. I was thinking I was coyote junior. I wasn't praying. I was nae nae-ing. I was that preacher's kid. You know, they always say preacher's kids are the worst. I was. You better believe it. I was. I was helping all the deacons kids act up. So in other words, God doesn't force you. Did you hear that? God doesn't force you. He's a gentleman. He basically says, this is your choice. So God, say God calls, but I decide. God calls you But you decide Many are called Few are chosen Many are called Few are chosen What does that mean? Some of y'all ain't never going to surrender You ain't never going to surrender You want your way You care about them And you care about them But you don't care about him Because he's an invisible God one day you're gonna stand before God and have to stand for your accountants and he's gonna say either well done my good and faithful servant or he's gonna say depart from me I never knew you so on this side of heaven either I'm gonna care I'm gonna travail what am I gonna do so basically he says I'm calling you but but but you decide God wants me to ask you do you want this in 20 years. Then in 21, the burn we talk about, we see how Elijah goes back and does something radical. Elisha slaughters his oxen, burns his plow, feeds the people with everything he had, then follows Elijah. So this wasn't just leaving. This was cutting off his past life completely. That means blocking the number. That means disappointing yourself when you can't show up for the birthday party and you won't do so bad. I want to be in the pictures. Well, it looks like I wasn't invited because I wasn't in the pictures. You weren't. You weren't invited because God had to break that thing because their ceiling was your floor. That rejection wasn't because they didn't want you necessarily. It was that they were blocking your next level. And so you got to say, I got a choice to make. Where y'all at? You got to tell yourself, because when you're laying in your bed crying tonight, philosophizing yourself, you need to say, I got a choice to make, because God is not a God of chaos and confusion. I know something ain't right in my life. What's funny is whenever my mother calls me and says, you got 20 years, I started thinking back. The day I was getting married, my daddy driving me around 285. Y'all know 285, right? Complete circle. Unless you get off you're gonna be driving all day you're gonna pass by Cheshire Bridge every time my daddy drives me four times around 75 says baby I don't care if we have already made all these arrangements people are coming in for the for the wedding I don't care I want you to look at my eyeballs you ain't got to do this but my care for what they thought about me was so much bigger people that don't even think about me some of y'all are not walking in the will of God because you care what people think about you that don't even know your middle name. Well, they don't celebrate me because they don't celebrate nothing. They've chosen the negativity because that's what they were raised in. So then we see in 21, the burn. Elisha goes back and does everything radical. This wasn't just leaving. This was cutting off the old life completely. So he destroyed his ability to go back. What is still open in your life that keeps tempting you? You may not have done it yet, but you're tempted. So Elisha didn't say yes with his mouth, just yes. He said it with his action. He didn't keep options open. He made obedience final. One act of obedience will do more for you than all the prayer in the world let my yes be yes and my no mean no stop letting people make you think what you feel is off baby that's feeling is God on the inside of you that holy spirit on the inside of you that is saying I'm about to walk you into a new season and I need your discernment to be on check baby so what this means for you is your calling will interrupt your normal life you will always get full instruction just a moment to move you have to choose it you know what it is i don't really know kim yes you do when people tell me they don't know i'm like i don't believe you because my god is not bipolar you just ain't listening because you know what you need to do but it ain't comfortable to do what you need to do and you don't really trust in an almighty omnipotent game-changing world-changing life-changing God you don't you don't see how God can take a tore up from the floor of person and use them for his glory you don't get it you think your mistakes are finale because you ain't got a relationship with God like you need to So you have to choose it. What's the it? And nobody can choose it for you. A lot of people want new levels. They want fresh oil. They want bigger assignments, but they still have backup plans. I don't know much, but I know I love you. God just tell me I got to break up with you, but just in case just stay right here you got backup plans you got old habits you got comfort zones on standby you can't step into your next while you keep your past on life support did you hear that y'all should be shouting and clapping it's because my butt bone's sitting in your lap right so you can't step into your next while keeping your past on life support because delayed obedience usually means divided loyalty either you're in or you're out because you can't have a full-time God on a part-time relationship I need him I need him when everything's going on to hell and back no you need him when you hit rock bottom and that's why you hit rock bottom so you can find the rock at the bottom which is Jesus you ever seen medication that stopped working you've been on it for so long it stops working that's how life is you you you have a crutch for so long and then that crutch doesn't work anymore because that's God's calling come to me all you here are weary and heavy laden I'll give you rest so you won't transformation but you let the door cracked you say goodbye but you keep the number saved oh I can't let them know that they blocked because if I if they know they're blocked then all of a sudden they think they up on me I don't want them to think they even bother me let them know I blocked you because I want you but I need you I love this in the world quit talking to me good thing you quit riding home with me for three hours let me complain to you good thing you got tired of me because I learned how to take her to the throne instead of the fall. You said goodbye, but you kept the number saved. Y'all ready for this? You will never fully walk into your next if you keep access to your past. Period. Be equally, unequally. Don't you do it. So Elijah throws his cloak on Elijah. That was a call. And Elijah had a choice to stay comfortable or step into his calling. So what does he do? He slaughters oxen, burns the plow, feeds the people, walks away. He didn't just leave. He made it impossible to go back. Write this down. Delayed obedience. Say delayed obedience keeps the bridge intact. You're welcome. Delayed obedience keeps the bridge intact. God already told you what to do. You're not confused. You're negotiating. I'm waiting on God. No, you ain't. He is totally waiting on you. Now you've gotten your attitude. Now you've gotten in your feelings. You're not confused. You're negotiating. One more time. One more conversation. One more season. I'm going to give it 18 more months. I'm going to give it three months. Every delay is another plank on the bridge you're supposed to burn. Because if God is not a God of chaos and confusion, why are you trying to pray something intact that was never supposed to be in the first place and you know it wasn't? Your pride is keeping you there. Write this down. If you keep access, you'll keep returning. Just will, because you're human. Maybe you're empathetic like me. Maybe you believe in people more than they need to be believed in. Maybe you keep taking medicine to people that like to be sick. Maybe you'll need to be needed. So if you keep access, you'll keep returning. Let's be real honest. That relationship, that habit, that mindset, that environment, you didn't fall back into it. You waited and walked back through an open door. Because what you don't cut off will always call back. Always. They will keep bothering you until you get sick and tired of being sick and tired and you will put them. Hello. Isn't me your look? No. Who it is? Who it is? I don't even know who you are. W-I-D. Who it is? What you doing? Not in this season. Point three. You ready for this? Write this down. Your old life can't follow you into your new calling. Won't happen. Can't happen. Look at you. Hey, we even went over this in our Bible studies last week. I think it was on Wednesday. We talked about [Genesis 19](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+19&version=KJV). We talked about Lot's wife, right? So [Genesis 19](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+19&version=KJV), 26 says, but Lot's wife looked back as she was following behind him. Remember that? And what happened to her? Y'all know your Bible. She turned into a pillar of salt. Some of y'all did the hard part. You left. You quit talking to him. You walked out of the relationship. You walked out of the addiction. You walked out of the old life, but you're still looking back. You're still stalking them. And the danger isn't in leaving. The danger is in longing for what God delivered you from. So God was destroying Sodom. It was toxic. It was corrupt. it was perverted but before destruction God made a way of escape angels told Lot and his family in [Genesis 19](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+19&version=KJV) 17 run for your lives he got you out of that situation run for your life don't you look some of y'all keep looking back some of y'all traveling over somebody that ain't even praying to them you're trying to help people trying to heal people and they're cutting you up God said, don't look back. She looked back anyway and turned into a pillar of salt. Why? Because her body left, but her heart stayed. Your body left, but your heart stayed. Your body left, but your mind was still stuck in the wilderness. You left Egypt, but Egypt stayed in you. That's why you keep repeating cycles. You're moving on to different seasons, but the seasons all smell the same. Why? Because it's still in you. Some of y'all are physically in a new season, but emotionally still living in the old one. Write this down. Burning the bridge is an act of faith. Elijah burned his plow and source of income. That's his only source of income. He wasn't promised more money. He wasn't promised a bonus. He wasn't promised a good life. He just knew what God told him. So he burned everything that was his security. He said, I trust God more than what I can't control. Because faith doesn't keep options open. Faith closes doors and says, God, you are enough. Write this down. You can't be anointed forward while attached backwards. That's why when you're going through a divorce, a lot of times they make you sell your property. because even the courts know how stupid it is to have two toxic people owning the same house. So you got to sell all your property from that last season and y'all got to split it. Crazy work. So faith doesn't keep options open. Faith closes doors and says, God, you are enough. So in [Luke 9](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+9&version=KJV), 62, anyone who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom. That's wrong. God is basically saying, you ready for this? Stop checking on what I delivered you from. Stop romanticizing what broke you. Stop revisiting what I rescued you out of. Stop comparing yourself to their new season. You didn't come this far to keep flirting with what almost destroyed you. Write this down. Holiness builds the fire that burns the bridge. Holiness is still right holiness keeps you out of the bar y'all like that you don't burn bridges in your own strength you burn them through conviction and consecration [hebrews 12](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+12&version=KJV) and 1 says throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles it he didn't say he gonna take it away says you got to throw it off it says throw it off don't manage it don't babysit it drop it because holiness says I don't even want the option anymore I promise you if you get it if you fall in love with Jesus and you see and love yourself the way Jesus loves you you will never have an experience where you ever want to go back to something God sets you free from I promise to God you will never want to go back it's like all the chains you forget what they look like naked you hear me you forget every time you don't remember how they treated you you don't remember what they did to you you don't remember your life with them y'all were together 20 years and once God separated it and you begin to walk in a new season now all the good pushes down all the bad and it makes you fall more in love with Jesus write this down what you burn today makes room for what God is bringing tomorrow. So Elisha burned the plow. He picked up the mantle. You can't hold both. You can't hold your past and your purpose. You can't carry compromise and your calling. You can't be messy and anointed and anointed. Some of y'all need to take inventory. Oh God, draw me close to you. never let go. I place my life in your hands. Change my desires. You can't hold your past in your purpose. You can't carry compromise in your goal. You can't walk in power and keep playing with what. Get rid of selfishness. Selfishness is me, me, me, me, me, me. Pride is I can't forgive you because of what you did to me. I can't forgive myself because of what I did. let it go. Pot twist. Requirement. Requirements for your new life are given, but the responsibility is chosen. I feel this so heavy. Some of you already know what bridge God is talking about. You've been circling it. You've been justifying it. Not next week. Not when it feels easier. Now. Because your next level is waiting on your final to see. As you stand up on your feet, what do you need to cut off what do you need to walk away from church what have you been keeping"

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard
Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error
| Category | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel Presentation | ❌ FAIL | The Gospel Engine is broken. The sermon explicitly teaches that God is 'totally waiting on you' and acts only as a 'gentleman' who does not force His will. This denies the monergistic work of regeneration and replaces the Gospel of grace with a system of human cooperation and decision. |
| Soteriology | ❌ FAIL | The sermon teaches Synergistic Soteriology, asserting that God's grace is contingent upon human consent and that He is passive until the believer acts. This contradicts the biblical doctrine of effectual calling and regeneration by the Holy Spirit alone. |
| Bibliology | ✅ PASS | The sermon references biblical texts (Ezekiel, John, Hebrews) correctly in isolation, though the hermeneutical application is flawed by the synergistic framework. |
| Hermeneutic | ⚠️ WEAK | The hermeneutic imposes a moralistic framework onto the text, focusing on human action ('burning bridges') as the primary driver of spiritual success, rather than Christ's finished work. |
| Theology Proper | ❌ FAIL | The doctrine of God is compromised by limiting His sovereignty. God is portrayed as unable to effect change without human permission, reducing Him to a passive observer rather than the active Sovereign. |
| Sacramentology | ⚪ N/A | No sacramental errors detected, but no sacraments were observed or discussed in the transcript. |
| Confessional Depth | ❌ SHALLOW | The teaching lacks depth in understanding the nature of grace, regeneration, and the sovereignty of God, focusing instead on behavioral modification and human will. |
⚙️ The Core Gospel Framework
Why it matters for the final verdict: A complete Gospel framework protects a sermon from becoming man-centered. If a preacher gives commands for good behavior but leaves out the grace and atonement of the Gospel, it often results in a 🔴 Critical or 🟠 Major error for Moralism (teaching human self-improvement rather than reliance on Christ). However, if these Gospel elements are missing simply because the pastor is preaching a highly focused, practical message to mature believers (e.g., instructions on biblical marriage), our system applies a "Safe Harbor" pardon, graciously reducing the omission to a 🟡 Minor error.
❌ The Law And Wrath: Not observed in the sermon.
❌ Total Depravity And Inability: Not observed in the sermon.
❌ Active Obedience Of Christ: Not observed in the sermon.
❌ The Cross And Atonement: Not observed in the sermon.
⚠️ Theological Concerns
🔴 Critical Synergistic Soteriology
Root Cause: Semi-Pelagianism
"He is totally waiting on you." [00:21:34 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: The pastor teaches that God is passive and dependent on human permission to act, directly contradicting the Reformed doctrine of divine sovereignty and monergistic grace.
Why It's Dangerous: This undermines the assurance of salvation and places the burden of spiritual transformation on human will rather than God's effectual call.
Biblical Correction: John 6:44: "No man can come to me, except the Father, which hath sent me, draw him."
🔴 Critical Limitation of Divine Sovereignty
Root Cause: Arminianism
"God doesn't force you. Did you hear that? God doesn't force you. He's a gentleman. He basically says, this is your choice." [00:10:56 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: The speaker explicitly limits divine sovereignty by portraying God as a passive "gentleman" who cannot effectually change a heart without human consent, thereby denying God's absolute power and monergistic grace in regeneration.
Why It's Dangerous: This creates a false view of God as weak or limited, leading believers to doubt His ability to save and sanctify.
Biblical Correction: Ezekiel 36:26: "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."

[00:01:19] the pastor say say this your neighbor I'd be like no how many y'all don't like to talk to your neighbor oh look y'all like this I get it we're gonna go today I'm gonna title this this series
[00:01:35] is called Plot Twist. How many loved last week? What did y'all get out of it? Oh, you're getting the notes. You don't know for sure what I said, but it was good, right? Is that what y'all meaning?
[00:01:50] All right. So listen, today I'm going to title this a burn the bridges back, burn the bridges back. You know what that means? It means stop going back to what God's already set you free
[00:02:06] from. And I'm going to break it today because if there's going to be a plot twist in your life, You've got to break some habits.
[00:02:14] How many of you got some habits you know you need to break?
[00:02:15] We all do.
[00:02:16] We're all human.
[00:02:17] And I want to go to 1 Kings 19, 19 through 21.
[00:02:21] And really, the whole chapter of 1 Kings is talking about how Elijah calls Elisha, right?
[00:02:30] And how after he calls Elisha, he calls him when he's working.
[00:02:34] And Elisha had a decision to make, right?
[00:02:37] And so let's read it, and then I'll break it down for you.
[00:02:38] It says, Elijah went and found Elisha's son of Shaphath plowing a field.
[00:02:47] He wasn't at home in bed.
[00:02:50] He was out plowing.
[00:02:51] He wasn't Netflixing, chilling.
[00:02:53] He wasn't twerking.
[00:02:56] He was working.
[00:02:57] So Elisha went and found Elisha's son of Shaphath plowing a field.
[00:03:04] There were 12 teams of oxen in the field.
[00:03:07] And Elisha was plowing with the 12th team.
[00:03:13] Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak across his shoulders and then walked away.
[00:03:23] Elisha left the oxen standing there, ran after Elijah and said to him, first, let me go and kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will go.
[00:03:36] Elijah replied, go back, go back, go back.
[00:03:45] But think about what I've done for you.
[00:03:48] All he wanted to do was go kiss his family.
[00:03:51] He was like, well, what do you want to go back for?
[00:03:54] Look at all I've done for you.
[00:03:55] So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them.
[00:04:01] He did exactly what he said.
[00:04:03] He used the wood from the plow to build the fire to roast their flesh.
[00:04:10] he passed around meat to the townspeople and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant. So Elijah didn't just follow God. He destroyed everything that would tempt him to go back as uncomfortable as it was. So this is the moment where Elisha is called into
[00:04:40] his purpose by Elijah. So 19, chapter 19, the call finds him working. Elisha finds Elisha plowing a field with 12 yoke of oxen. So that basically tells us that Elisha had something going for himself, right? He wasn't at home sleeping. He was out working. He was in the
[00:05:07] middle of responsibility, not hiding. He wasn't over here trying to pretend something was happening when it really wasn't. He was out here doing it. The fruit was speaking for itself. And so Elijah, Elijah throws his cloak on him. So that clock, that cloak clocked that moment for him.
[00:05:34] the mantle, the calling, the assignment at that right time. We see at that moment, because he was busy doing something. I know it's, it's hard because when you go through a season, you want to go lay in your bed and melt. All of us are the same. You want to go rot in your bed because the
[00:06:02] enemy has persuaded you that that's the best you're ever going to have what's behind you you're never going to fall in love again you're never going to you're already retirement age you're never going to meet your purpose you're never going to get your goals your marriage is
[00:06:19] never going to get better your kids are always going to be trifling you're going to always have pinch nerves you're going to always lay in the bed with sag nerve issues because all your life
[00:06:30] you've hurt. They give you blocks in your body to help heal the hurt, but it don't help. Within 24 hours, that knee's hurting again. Age. This is just age. And so what we do is we lay in our beds
[00:06:45] of affliction because movement, excitement, living is where our minds are open to see the gravity of all the greatness that is still coming.
[00:07:01] So if the enemy can keep you in bed, if the enemy can keep you in your house with the blinds closed, if the enemy can keep you worrying about that grown kid, if the enemy can keep you worried about that sin
[00:07:12] that you are hiding and hoping to God it never gets told, then you will never discover who God created you to be.
[00:07:21] So it basically tells us that Elijah throws his cloak on Elisha.
[00:07:30] And at that moment, the cloak equaled mantle, calling, assignment.
[00:07:34] There was no speech.
[00:07:36] There was no explanation.
[00:07:38] There was no blog telling about it.
[00:07:41] It was just something between him, Elisha, and Elijah.
[00:07:45] There was no explanation.
[00:07:47] There was no post on social media.
[00:07:49] Just a moment that says God is pulling you into something so much bigger.
[00:07:56] And I did not have to make an announcement.
[00:07:59] No speech, no explanation.
[00:08:04] Then in chapter 20, we see the decision where Elisha runs after Elijah and says, let me kiss my parents goodbye.
[00:08:12] And Elijah responds, go back, go back for what?
[00:08:18] Go back.
[00:08:20] He says, look what all I have done.
[00:08:22] In other words, he was saying, I didn't force you.
[00:08:26] This was your choice.
[00:08:28] You got a choice to make.
[00:08:29] I'm still going to love you if you do it.
[00:08:31] I'm going to love you if you don't.
[00:08:32] But the problem is, if you don't, you're going to still be in the same place you was a whole decade ago.
[00:08:38] I'll never forget when I was in a very toxic situation.
[00:08:42] And that little lady sitting right there in between those two good-looking men.
[00:08:46] She's 99 pounds soaking wet.
[00:08:48] Okay, 5'1".
[00:08:50] She calls me up after a very toxic, toxic situation.
[00:08:55] I am believing God.
[00:08:57] I have fasted.
[00:08:58] I have prayed.
[00:09:00] I mean, I am laying in my bed seeking God.
[00:09:04] And all of a sudden, this woman is going to call that has no idea about my life.
[00:09:08] Because I'm the type of person that I don't want nobody in my business.
[00:09:11] So if I got to cut all of you off, I will.
[00:09:14] That's where I was in this season.
[00:09:15] I was not as open as I am now.
[00:09:17] I was not as transparent as I am now.
[00:09:19] I was faking it and trying to make it and I wasn't making it and this little lady calls me one day and she says God wants me to ask you a question I said okay what is it she said God wants me to
[00:09:30] ask you do you want this in 20 years I said whoa that can't be God you don't know what's going on in my life you don't know how I've been standing and fasting for this situation it's been 18 years
[00:09:45] and I've been fighting like hell and she goes God just wants me to ask you that and that's all I need to say about it i love you kimberly good night i remember laying on that bed chelsea
[00:09:59] laying on the bed that was the devil that was the devil god get him god fix it and that little lady is up at three o'clock in the morning eating carpet for me she is praying she is interceding
[00:10:14] i didn't want to hear that i wanted to hear god's gonna work all things together that's concerning you and he's going to make things right. He's going to come through for you. But that wasn't
[00:10:26] what God was going to do because he can't change a heart that ain't listening. And that's exactly, I wasn't listening. Say Pastor Kim wasn't listening. Pastor Kim didn't want to hear that.
[00:10:37] I wasn't even a pastor then. I was coyote ugly. I was thinking I was coyote junior.
[00:10:46] I wasn't praying. I was nae nae-ing. I was that preacher's kid. You know, they always say preacher's kids are the worst. I was. You better believe it. I was. I was helping all the deacons
[00:10:56] kids act up. So in other words, God doesn't force you. Did you hear that? God doesn't force you.
[00:11:09] He's a gentleman. He basically says, this is your choice. So God, say God calls, but I decide.
[00:11:18] God calls you But you decide Many are called Few are chosen Many are called Few are chosen What does that mean?
[00:11:32] Some of y'all ain't never going to surrender You ain't never going to surrender You want your way You care about them And you care about them But you don't care about him Because he's an invisible God
[00:11:51] one day you're gonna stand before God and have to stand for your accountants and he's gonna say either well done my good and faithful servant or he's gonna say depart from me I never knew you
[00:12:00] so on this side of heaven either I'm gonna care I'm gonna travail what am I gonna do so basically he says I'm calling you but but but you decide God wants me to ask you do you want
[00:12:16] this in 20 years. Then in 21, the burn we talk about, we see how Elijah goes back and does something radical. Elisha slaughters his oxen, burns his plow, feeds the people with everything he had, then follows Elijah. So this wasn't just leaving. This was cutting off his past life
[00:12:49] completely. That means blocking the number. That means disappointing yourself when you can't show up for the birthday party and you won't do so bad. I want to be in the pictures. Well, it looks like
[00:13:02] I wasn't invited because I wasn't in the pictures. You weren't. You weren't invited because God had to break that thing because their ceiling was your floor. That rejection wasn't because they didn't want you necessarily. It was that they were blocking your next level. And so you got to say,
[00:13:23] I got a choice to make. Where y'all at? You got to tell yourself, because when you're laying in your bed crying tonight, philosophizing yourself, you need to say, I got a choice to make, because
[00:13:37] God is not a God of chaos and confusion. I know something ain't right in my life. What's funny is whenever my mother calls me and says, you got 20 years, I started thinking back. The day I was
[00:13:49] getting married, my daddy driving me around 285. Y'all know 285, right? Complete circle. Unless you get off you're gonna be driving all day you're gonna pass by Cheshire Bridge every time my daddy drives me four times around 75 says baby I don't care if we have already made all these arrangements
[00:14:09] people are coming in for the for the wedding I don't care I want you to look at my eyeballs you ain't got to do this but my care for what they thought about me was so much bigger people that
[00:14:24] don't even think about me some of y'all are not walking in the will of God because you care what people think about you that don't even know your middle name. Well, they don't celebrate me because
[00:14:39] they don't celebrate nothing. They've chosen the negativity because that's what they were raised in.
[00:14:47] So then we see in 21, the burn. Elisha goes back and does everything radical. This wasn't just leaving. This was cutting off the old life completely. So he destroyed his ability to go
[00:15:01] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[00:15:01] back. What is still open in your life that keeps tempting you? You may not have done it yet, but you're tempted. So Elisha didn't say yes with his mouth, just yes. He said it with his action.
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[00:15:32] He didn't keep options open. He made obedience final. One act of obedience will do more for you than all the prayer in the world let my yes be yes and my no mean no stop letting people make
[00:15:49] you think what you feel is off baby that's feeling is God on the inside of you that holy spirit on the inside of you that is saying I'm about to walk you into a new season and I need your discernment
[00:16:01] to be on check baby so what this means for you is your calling will interrupt your normal life you will always get full instruction just a moment to move you have to choose it you know what it is
[00:16:27] i don't really know kim yes you do when people tell me they don't know i'm like i don't believe you because my god is not bipolar you just ain't listening because you know what you
[00:16:45] need to do but it ain't comfortable to do what you need to do and you don't really trust in an almighty omnipotent game-changing world-changing life-changing God you don't you don't see how God can take a tore up from the floor of person and use them for his glory you don't get it you
[00:17:04] think your mistakes are finale because you ain't got a relationship with God like you need to So you have to choose it. What's the it? And nobody can choose it for you. A lot of people
[00:17:24] want new levels. They want fresh oil. They want bigger assignments, but they still have backup
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:17:32] plans. I don't know much, but I know I love you. God just tell me I got to break up with you,
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[00:17:47] but just in case just stay right here you got backup plans you got old habits you got comfort zones on standby you can't step into your next while you keep your past on life support did you
[00:18:07] hear that y'all should be shouting and clapping it's because my butt bone's sitting in your lap right so you can't step into your next while keeping your past on life support because delayed obedience usually means divided loyalty either you're in or you're out because you can't
[00:18:35] have a full-time God on a part-time relationship I need him I need him when everything's going on to hell and back no you need him when you hit rock bottom and that's why you hit rock bottom
[00:18:47] so you can find the rock at the bottom which is Jesus you ever seen medication that stopped working you've been on it for so long it stops working that's how life is you you you have a
[00:19:03] crutch for so long and then that crutch doesn't work anymore because that's God's calling come to me all you here are weary and heavy laden I'll give you rest so you won't transformation but you
[00:19:18] let the door cracked you say goodbye but you keep the number saved oh I can't let them know that they blocked because if I if they know they're blocked then all of a sudden they think they up
[00:19:32] on me I don't want them to think they even bother me let them know I blocked you because I want you but I need you I love this in the world quit talking to me good thing you quit riding home
[00:20:05] with me for three hours let me complain to you good thing you got tired of me because I learned how to take her to the throne instead of the fall. You said goodbye, but you kept the number saved.
[00:20:19] Y'all ready for this? You will never fully walk into your next if you keep access to your past.
[00:20:25] Period. Be equally, unequally. Don't you do it. So Elijah throws his cloak on Elijah.
[00:20:44] That was a call. And Elijah had a choice to stay comfortable or step into his calling.
[00:20:51] So what does he do?
[00:20:52] He slaughters oxen, burns the plow, feeds the people, walks away.
[00:20:55] He didn't just leave.
[00:20:56] He made it impossible to go back.
[00:20:58] Write this down.
[00:20:59] Delayed obedience.
[00:21:01] Say delayed obedience keeps the bridge intact.
[00:21:12] You're welcome.
[00:21:18] Delayed obedience keeps the bridge intact.
[00:21:23] God already told you what to do.
[00:21:26] You're not confused.
[00:21:29] You're negotiating.
[00:21:34] I'm waiting on God.
[00:21:34] No, you ain't.
[00:21:36] He is totally waiting on you.
[00:21:38] Now you've gotten your attitude.
[00:21:40] Now you've gotten in your feelings.
[00:21:42] You're not confused.
[00:21:46] You're negotiating.
[00:21:49] One more time.
[00:21:52] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:21:52] One more conversation.
[00:21:54] One more season.
[00:21:56] I'm going to give it 18 more months.
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[00:21:59] I'm going to give it three months.
[00:22:01] Every delay is another plank on the bridge you're supposed to burn.
[00:22:06] Because if God is not a God of chaos and confusion, why are you trying to pray something intact that was never supposed to be in the first place and you know it wasn't?
[00:22:17] Your pride is keeping you there.
[00:22:20] Write this down.
[00:22:22] If you keep access, you'll keep returning.
[00:22:27] Just will, because you're human.
[00:22:30] Maybe you're empathetic like me.
[00:22:33] Maybe you believe in people more than they need to be believed in.
[00:22:37] Maybe you keep taking medicine to people that like to be sick.
[00:22:39] Maybe you'll need to be needed.
[00:22:40] So if you keep access, you'll keep returning.
[00:22:47] Let's be real honest.
[00:22:48] That relationship, that habit, that mindset, that environment, you didn't fall back into it.
[00:23:00] You waited and walked back through an open door.
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[00:23:08] Because what you don't cut off will always call back.
[00:23:14] Always.
[00:23:16] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[00:23:16] They will keep bothering you until you get sick and tired of being sick and tired and you will put them. Hello. Isn't me your look? No. Who it is? Who it is? I don't even know who
[00:23:36] you are. W-I-D. Who it is? What you doing? Not in this season. Point three. You ready for this?
[00:23:48] Write this down. Your old life can't follow you into your new calling. Won't happen. Can't happen.
[00:23:54] Won't happen. Can't happen. Look at you. Hey, we even went over this in our Bible studies last week. I think it was on Wednesday. We talked about Genesis 19. We talked about Lot's wife, right? So Genesis 19, 26 says, but Lot's wife looked back as she was following behind him.
[00:24:12] Remember that? And what happened to her? Y'all know your Bible. She turned into a pillar of salt.
[00:24:24] Some of y'all did the hard part. You left. You quit talking to him. You walked out of the relationship. You walked out of the addiction. You walked out of the old life, but you're still
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[00:24:43] looking back. You're still stalking them. And the danger isn't in leaving. The danger is in longing
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[00:24:54] for what God delivered you from. So God was destroying Sodom. It was toxic. It was corrupt.
[00:25:11] it was perverted but before destruction God made a way of escape angels told Lot and his family in Genesis 19 17 run for your lives he got you out of that situation run for your life
[00:25:30] don't you look some of y'all keep looking back some of y'all traveling over somebody that ain't even praying to them you're trying to help people trying to heal people and they're cutting you up God said, don't look back. She looked back anyway and turned into a pillar of salt. Why?
[00:26:01] Because her body left, but her heart stayed. Your body left, but your heart stayed. Your body left, but your mind was still stuck in the wilderness. You left Egypt, but Egypt stayed in you.
[00:26:19] That's why you keep repeating cycles. You're moving on to different seasons, but the seasons all smell the same. Why? Because it's still in you. Some of y'all are physically in a new season, but emotionally still living in the old one. Write this down. Burning the
[00:26:41] bridge is an act of faith. Elijah burned his plow and source of income. That's his only source of income. He wasn't promised more money. He wasn't promised a bonus. He wasn't promised a good life.
[00:26:57] He just knew what God told him.
[00:26:58] So he burned everything that was his security.
[00:27:05] He said, I trust God more than what I can't control.
[00:27:14] Because faith doesn't keep options open.
[00:27:20] Faith closes doors and says, God, you are enough.
[00:27:25] Write this down.
[00:27:27] You can't be anointed forward while attached backwards.
[00:27:37] That's why when you're going through a divorce, a lot of times they make you sell your property.
[00:27:40] because even the courts know how stupid it is to have two toxic people owning the same house.
[00:27:49] So you got to sell all your property from that last season and y'all got to split it.
[00:27:57] Crazy work. So faith doesn't keep options open. Faith closes doors and says, God, you are enough.
[00:28:06] So in Luke 9, 62, anyone who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom.
[00:28:12] That's wrong. God is basically saying, you ready for this? Stop checking on what I delivered you from. Stop romanticizing what broke you. Stop revisiting what I rescued you out of. Stop comparing yourself to their new season. You didn't come this far to keep flirting with what almost
[00:28:38] destroyed you. Write this down. Holiness builds the fire that burns the bridge. Holiness is still right holiness keeps you out of the bar y'all like that you don't burn bridges in your own strength you burn them through conviction and consecration hebrews 12 and 1 says throw off everything that
[00:29:22] hinders and the sin that so easily entangles it he didn't say he gonna take it away says you got to throw it off it says throw it off don't manage it don't babysit it drop it because holiness says
[00:29:38] I don't even want the option anymore I promise you if you get it if you fall in love with Jesus and you see and love yourself the way Jesus loves you you will never have an experience where you
[00:29:51] ever want to go back to something God sets you free from I promise to God you will never want to go back it's like all the chains you forget what they look like naked you hear me you forget
[00:30:05] every time you don't remember how they treated you you don't remember what they did to you you don't remember your life with them y'all were together 20 years and once God separated it and you begin to walk in a new season now all the good pushes down all the bad and it makes you
[00:30:25] fall more in love with Jesus write this down what you burn today makes room for what God is bringing tomorrow. So Elisha burned the plow. He picked up the mantle. You can't hold both. You can't hold
[00:30:39] your past and your purpose. You can't carry compromise and your calling. You can't be messy and anointed and anointed. Some of y'all need to take inventory. Oh God, draw me close to you.
[00:31:04] never let go. I place my life in your hands. Change my desires. You can't hold your past in your purpose. You can't carry compromise in your goal. You can't walk in power and keep
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:31:25] playing with what. Get rid of selfishness. Selfishness is me, me, me, me, me, me. Pride is I can't forgive you because of what you did to me. I can't forgive myself because of what I did.
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[00:31:47] let it go. Pot twist. Requirement. Requirements for your new life are given, but the responsibility is chosen. I feel this so heavy. Some of you already know what bridge God is talking about.
