Beyond ‘Try Harder’: A Review of ‘Sunday Sermon’

The pastor's sermon from Matthew 6 aims to address the sin of worry by calling the congregation to greater faith and prayer. While the intentions are sound and key doctrines like the authority of Scripture are upheld, the execution falls into moralistic drift. The hermeneutic is pretextual, using Scripture as a launchpad for a topical message rather than an exposition of the text. The very low text-to-talk ratio starves the congregation of the Word itself. The result is a sermon that commands obedience without adequately supplying the Gospel fuel necessary for it, characteristic of a theologically weak (Sardis) approach.

🔍 Biblical Discernment: The 7 Church Parallels
The Faithful Parallels Smyrna • Philadelphia
Teaching that parallels the churches that endure suffering with true spiritual riches (Rev 2:9) and keep the Word of Christ without denial despite having "little strength" (Rev 3:8).
The Cold Orthodox Parallel Ephesus
Teaching that upholds doctrinal precision yet parallels the loss of the "first love"—the vital, motivating power of the Gospel (Rev 2:4).
The Formalist Parallels Sardis • Laodicea
Teaching that parallels churches relying on a reputation of being alive while being spiritually dead (Rev 3:1), or resting in lukewarm self-sufficiency, claiming to be "rich" while spiritually bankrupt (Rev 3:17).
The Compromised Parallels Pergamum • Thyatira
Teaching that parallels churches tolerating the "doctrine of Balaam" through cultural accommodation (Rev 2:14), or allowing seductive teachings that lead the flock into false gospels and immorality (Rev 2:20).
Why strictly "Mark & Avoid"?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This church's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.

🧐 Overview

Sermon Summary: This sermon offers a heartfelt encouragement to trust in God's provision and overcome worry. While the pastor's care is evident, the message focuses more on the believer's effort to generate faith rather than on the Gospel power that makes such faith possible, leaving listeners with a 'to-do' list rather than a renewed vision of Christ.

Big Idea: Put God first by not worrying and understanding the father-children relationship. [00:18:08 ▶️ 📄]

Biblical Parallel(Archetype): Sardis — The sermon presents a series of moral imperatives ('Don't worry,' 'Have more faith') without sufficiently grounding them in the finished work of Christ, reflecting a reputation for life that lacks spiritual power.

Overall Verdict: Theologically Weak

Key References: Matthew 4, Matthew 16:18, Matthew 6:25-34

  • Point 6: Seek the Kingdom First [00:31:23 ▶️ 📄] : The sermon pivots to the command to seek God's kingdom and righteousness above local church or personal interests, using Solomon as an example of one who sought the right things.

✅ Commendations

Pastoral Care | Genuine Concern for the Flock's Peace

The sermon clearly stems from a genuine pastoral desire to see the congregation freed from the burden of anxiety and worry, which is a commendable and biblical aim.

Bibliology | High View of Scripture's Power

The pastor rightly and forcefully identifies the Word of God as the source of faith and the only weapon that can defeat Satan's lies, encouraging the congregation to rely on its power.

Orthodoxy | Clear Call to Salvation

The altar call correctly refutes the error of relying on infant baptism for salvation and clearly articulates the biblical requirement of personal faith and confession in Jesus Christ.

Ecclesiology | Kingdom-Minded Focus

The exhortation at [00:32:55 ▶️ 📄] to move from a 'church mentality to kingdom mentality' is an excellent and necessary corrective to parochialism and church-centric competition.

⚠️ Theological Concerns

🟠 Moralistic Drift

Root Cause: Moralistic Drift (Sardis). Reason: Detaches the commands of Scripture from the power of the Gospel. It preaches the Law without the Grace to obey it.

"So churches don't work on their faith because they are convinced they haven't. Why would I work for something I think I already got it?" [00:21:51 ▶️ 📄]

Correction: Faith itself is a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9), not a product of human effort. While we are commanded to have faith, that faith is sustained by looking to its object, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:2). The solution to weak faith is not to try harder, but to gain a clearer vision of the trustworthiness of God as revealed in the Gospel.

📝 Other Corrections & Notes

  • Applying Revelation 3:20 ('Behold, I stand at the door and knock') as a general evangelistic call to all unbelievers. [00:38:16 ▶️ 📄] → Correction: The original context of this verse is Christ addressing the lukewarm church of Laodicea, calling believers to renewed fellowship. While the principle of Christ's invitation is true, applying this specific verse to unbelievers strips it of its potent warning to the complacent church. (Revelation 3:14-22)

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER UNKNOWN]:
Okay.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]:
Because it's a good way to set an end zone and you have to check it and keep your speaker.
[00:11:43] You should be able to hear.
[00:11:45] So we can mess with about this now.
[00:11:47] All right.
[00:11:48] All right.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER UNKNOWN]:
Thank you.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]:
I just got kicked out.
[00:14:31] I'm sorry about that.
[00:14:54] Well, I'll try something.
[00:15:08] Hold on.
[00:15:16] Hold on.
[00:15:30] I don't know what happened but it just kicked me out.
[00:15:57] Yeah, I can't control it anymore.
[00:16:01] Yeah.
[00:16:09] Okay.
[00:16:31] Am I lost?
[00:16:32] Ah, yes.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]:
Yes, we may do something and that's growth.
[00:17:43] Amen.
[00:17:44] But there are some areas of our lives, we tell the truth, we have not yet released fully unto God.
[00:17:49] That's because if we did, we'll be perfect.
[00:17:52] So it's a growth process.
[00:17:54] And all of us have to grow to that point where I can yield more and more and more of my life unto God.
[00:18:01] Well, this is what Jesus is pointing out in this text.
[00:18:05] So I'll just get right to the point.
[00:18:08] The fourth point is put God first by not worrying.
[00:18:14] Ah, worrying tends to take place when we look too far ahead about what we don't have and what we're going to need.
[00:18:22] Rather than waiting until we get there, we start worrying in advance.
[00:18:27] So watch what Jesus is saying in this text.
[00:18:30] Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you're going to eat, what you're going to drink.
[00:18:35] And then he compares the birds.
[00:18:37] uh so he said watch this now your father looks after the birds or the air he clothed them the lilies of the valley and not even Solomon was dressed up like like the lilies of the valleys you know so he's telling us you know that that he's going to take care of us you know he's going to provide for us and that doesn't mean that we don't do anything but he's trying to say that ultimately he's our provider
[00:19:06] and He got us.
[00:19:08] God is already in our tomorrows before we get there.
[00:19:11] God knows what we're going to need tomorrow before tomorrow ever comes.
[00:19:15] And so He's already there.
[00:19:18] Amen.
[00:19:18] And already made provisions for us so when we get there, everything will be taken care of.
[00:19:25] You know?
[00:19:26] But see, it's human nature.
[00:19:28] I call it broken human nature is to worry about stuff.
[00:19:32] Because I don't have it today.
[00:19:34] Amen.
[00:19:35] But we're going to move on because I don't want to get to my other points too soon.
[00:19:41] So let's go to the next point because I want to make this as brief as I can.
[00:19:44] We put God first by understanding the father-children relationship.
[00:19:50] Now watch what he said.
[00:19:51] This is so important.
[00:19:53] He's saying, if God clothed the lilies of the valley and the grass of the field,
[00:20:03] which is here today and thrown in the fire tomorrow how much more will he not clothe us now watch what he said you are little faith now notice what i keep teaching we say and i'm again i mean the church bodies in jerusalem we are almost fight a person over oh i got faith but we don't we tell the truth we don't have the faith that the bible says we should have
[00:20:28] we may have a faith or a form of faith but not the faith the bible is talking about and we find this over and over again with people through our scripture so i don't know what makes the church think today we got so much faith that is that's the problem you see here's the point if i don't if i don't uh if i don't if i think i got it i'm not gonna see that
[00:20:54] And what we mean is sometimes, you know, it's easy to have faith when I say I got money to pay all my bills.
[00:21:01] Do you have faith when you don't have the money?
[00:21:03] When I see no way out?
[00:21:05] See, that's when faith really kicks in.
[00:21:07] It's not faith when I can see my own way.
[00:21:10] That's my faith.
[00:21:13] Faith is when I don't see, when I don't know.
[00:21:16] When I have no idea how this is going to come out, I trust God 100% that everything is going to be all right and I have peace in my mind and my heart that I don't have to worry about it.
[00:21:27] That's faith.
[00:21:28] So how many times did Jesus tell his disciples, view a little faith or where's your faith?
[00:21:34] And then he said that you have the faith of a size of a mustard seed.
[00:21:38] You can speak to the mountain and say, mountain, be cast into the sea and the mountain will obey us.
[00:21:45] That's what he said.
[00:21:46] That's what the faith he's talking about.
[00:21:48] Huh?
[00:21:51] So churches don't work on their faith because they are convinced they haven't.
[00:21:57] Why would I work for something I think I already got it?
[00:22:01] But he said, and that's what he said right in the scripture.
[00:22:03] You a little faith, you don't have anything.
[00:22:05] So he stayed on his disciples about that.
[00:22:08] Over and over again, you guys lack faith.
[00:22:13] Huh?
[00:22:13] And then walking on, Jesus came walking on the water.
[00:22:17] And then Peter said, Lord, bid me to come.
[00:22:20] If that's you, so Jesus said, come on, Peter, now watch this.
[00:22:24] And long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was walking on water.
[00:22:29] When he saw the waves, look at somebody, huh?
[00:22:33] He took his eyes off Jesus and started looking at the waves.
[00:22:38] And then he started to sing, you know.
[00:22:42] And then there's another time when the storm is raging and the disciples are battling, trying to keep the ship afloat.
[00:22:50] Jesus is asleep.
[00:22:53] And they sort of went and woke him up and said, Master, don't you care we perish?
[00:22:59] Jesus spoke to them and said, Peace be still.
[00:23:01] The storm stopped.
[00:23:03] Then he asked them the question, Where is your faith?
[00:23:08] you know and you find over and over again the children of israel on their way from egypt to the promised land how many miracles did they witness and still the next time there was a problem they didn't have the faith abraham had an issue to became the man of faith and so lord knows in churches and i mean faith in god's system not faith in what we want
[00:23:30] Like I teach all that, that is a form of faith.
[00:23:34] The faith that God is talking about is, I trust him and his word.
[00:23:38] I take his word.
[00:23:43] And whatever God said, it's going to happen.
[00:23:46] That's why we're supposed to spend so much time in prayer.
[00:23:50] It's nowhere in the world to please God and have the things of God without spending time together.
[00:23:56] Now, I mean, as a corporate body.
[00:23:58] But here's what folks say now that, oh, I can pray at home.
[00:24:01] You're supposed to.
[00:24:02] But that's no substitute for corporate prayer.
[00:24:06] Help me somebody, huh?
[00:24:08] and everybody i know the churches that do well they have in fact that what bond and glue came up with in their research they call it a prayer culture the church understand everybody in the church understand that prayer is a is the order of the day and it's the priority in the life of the church and we said it is one in sunday school what a friend we have in jesus huh and and a part of that says about we talk about prayer no take everything to the lord what
[00:24:37] In prayer, all what peace we often forfeit, and all what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
[00:24:51] And that's what God means to me, everything.
[00:24:53] Don't take anything for granted.
[00:24:56] uh before long before he became a bishop uh uh now at the time reverend w dameron moore said this prayerlessness leads us to a perverted purpose of what god will have us to do let me say that again prayerlessness leads us to a perverted purpose of what god will have us to do whatever i'm thinking is perverted it's not god's will it's anti-god so i can only learn i mean discern from god as i seek him in prayer that's why it's so important
[00:25:25] and then let me just so i can move on faith comes by hearing the word of god only the word of god can give me faith i mean the faith that god is talking about now huh so if i don't know the way i don't have nothing to create and generate faith in me that's my own personal form of faith huh and that all of this is enrollment in faith comes by hearing huh
[00:25:53] And that's the scripture saying, how can they hear without a preacher?
[00:25:56] And all that.
[00:25:57] And how can they preach unless they be sad?
[00:25:59] That's where that comes from.
[00:26:01] It's about salvation, but it's about the word in general as well.
[00:26:04] All right, so let's move on from there.
[00:26:06] So let's ask God for faith.
[00:26:09] Well, we got to be in the word and got to be in prayer and faith in what God said.
[00:26:14] Amen.
[00:26:14] So everybody can read the verse of the day.
[00:26:17] Come on, somebody.
[00:26:18] We got to get in that word.
[00:26:20] Amen.
[00:26:20] Let's move on.
[00:26:22] The other two are brief points.
[00:26:25] So the other one is put faith.
[00:26:26] I'm sorry.
[00:26:27] I really went to the faith part.
[00:26:32] So do we know our value?
[00:26:36] I said it, but I really preached the word about the point I gave was we can put God first by having faith in God.
[00:26:47] but I so the one now we can have faith in God by understanding the relationship the father-son relationship so he said again listen carefully now if this is how your father take care of the grass of the field are you not much more valuable which one of and and another person he said which one of you having children huh and your children asked for uh uh uh
[00:27:15] A egg, you'll give him a scorpion.
[00:27:19] What you wanna do?
[00:27:20] Will you not provide for your own children?
[00:27:24] Huh?
[00:27:24] Come on somebody.
[00:27:26] So God wanna know then, what make you think that I'm so jacked up God that I won't provide for my children?
[00:27:35] And to me, His way.
[00:27:37] Oh Lord, have mercy.
[00:27:38] I promise that's what God is saying.
[00:27:41] But see, the devil come to cast doubt.
[00:27:43] Ooh, that's it, uh-oh.
[00:27:45] That's it.
[00:27:47] The devil come to catch doubt about what God said.
[00:27:52] So if I don't know that word, that's why we quote the word to Satan.
[00:27:57] Satan is not afraid of our praise.
[00:28:00] Satan is not afraid of our praise.
[00:28:03] Satan is only afraid of the word of God.
[00:28:05] That's what he's afraid of.
[00:28:07] He's afraid when we get on our knees and seek God.
[00:28:10] Because he knows God's going to answer and God will answer our prayer.
[00:28:14] That's what he's afraid of.
[00:28:18] Amen, somebody.
[00:28:19] So people are telling us wrong stuff.
[00:28:24] Matthew 4, when Jesus was tempted, he put the word on Satan.
[00:28:29] Come on, somebody.
[00:28:30] Come on, somebody.
[00:28:32] Did he not put the word on Satan?
[00:28:34] Satan said command if you see why they're trying to catch down if you be the son of God make these stones or be made bread because he knew Jesus was hungry and Jesus said to him man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God everything that Jesus quoted back to Satan with the word of God because Satan is afraid of the word of God he's not afraid of anything else
[00:29:01] There were people telling them, that's wrong, bad theology, that's jacked up theology.
[00:29:06] Put that word on him, and he will flee.
[00:29:09] Because that's what happened when he got to Jesus.
[00:29:12] He left.
[00:29:15] Why?
[00:29:15] Because Jesus put the word on him.
[00:29:17] Because he knows the word is God, and God is the word, and he trembles at the word of God.
[00:29:22] He trembles at the word of God.
[00:29:24] So you want to put Satan to flight?
[00:29:26] Put the word on him.
[00:29:28] Because he knows he cannot defeat the word of God.
[00:29:31] So again, so God is saying, if we take care of our children, when I tell people I don't worry about no bills or no church, they're not worried.
[00:29:43] I'm serious.
[00:29:45] It's not my job to make the church grow.
[00:29:46] I can't make it grow.
[00:29:48] Can't make the resources.
[00:29:49] I can't make, I cannot do, I can't even listen.
[00:29:52] I can't even wake myself up in the morning.
[00:29:54] Without God, I can't even put my clothes on.
[00:29:56] I can't take a shower.
[00:29:57] I cannot do anything.
[00:29:58] I don't have no breath, no life without God.
[00:30:01] God does everything.
[00:30:05] So I trust Him.
[00:30:07] Amen.
[00:30:07] Let's move on.
[00:30:08] So God understands the relationship.
[00:30:10] That's why He's asking, if He does that for the grants, are you not going to be more valuable?
[00:30:20] Amen, somebody.
[00:30:21] This is His church.
[00:30:26] No sleep over the church.
[00:30:28] I mean that.
[00:30:29] Don't look.
[00:30:31] Why?
[00:30:32] Jesus said, upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
[00:30:42] It's his church, not mine.
[00:30:43] It's not yours.
[00:30:44] It can't run my way, your way, or nobody else's way.
[00:30:47] It runs the way Jesus set it up.
[00:30:50] He knows how he set it up.
[00:30:51] Well, will he not provide for his own church?
[00:30:54] Will God not provide for his own children?
[00:30:56] Do you provide for your children?
[00:30:57] Is there any question about giving them food and shelter?
[00:31:02] Even their grown children, they say, Mom, Dad, I don't have any heat.
[00:31:05] Come over to my house or pay the heating bill.
[00:31:07] But you will not let them be out there cold.
[00:31:10] You will not let them be out there naked.
[00:31:12] You will not be out there and let them have some shelter.
[00:31:14] You will not do that.
[00:31:16] But God has said, I'm the same way.
[00:31:19] Help me somebody.
[00:31:20] And then lastly on there, put him first in everything.
[00:31:23] I mean, yeah, well, put God first by maximizing our efforts in seeking him.
[00:31:33] Now, notice what he said.
[00:31:35] Seek ye first, seek.
[00:31:37] See, seek doesn't mean look one time and I don't see it.
[00:31:42] Seek me to keep until I accomplish or I find what I'm looking for.
[00:31:47] Seek first the kingdom and know that it's not to seek what I want for my ministry or my board, not Seals Creek, not the Salisbury District, not the Residence of North Carolina Conference,
[00:32:03] Not Peabody Episcopal Discourse, not the Amazon Church, not the Baptist Church, not the Church of God in Christ, not the Catholic Church, not the Presbyterian Church, not the Nazarene Church, but rather seek ye first the Kingdom, the Kingdom of God.
[00:32:20] What is good for the Kingdom of God?
[00:32:23] That's what we're about.
[00:32:25] We're not in competition with anybody.
[00:32:28] And that's an issue among churches.
[00:32:30] Sometimes they're in competition one among the other.
[00:32:33] It's all for the kingdom of God.
[00:32:37] See first the kingdom of God.
[00:32:39] What is God all about?
[00:32:41] The kingdom means the king's domain.
[00:32:45] Amen, somebody.
[00:32:46] And so we do that by seeking his kingdom and seeking his righteousness.
[00:32:53] All about the kingdom.
[00:32:55] Dr. Sattler likes to say all the time, moving from church mentality to kingdom mentality, because he's narrowed it down to say the same thing that went wrong with a lot of our churches.
[00:33:05] We're church focused and not the kingdom focused.
[00:33:09] And it's not about my local church or your local church.
[00:33:12] It's about the kingdom of God everywhere.
[00:33:15] Amen, somebody.
[00:33:16] and that's why we are so we got the right concept i think we've moved away from it but but the method of church is about we are one church honestly we have one church that's why we call it a connectional church you know amen and so you remember we're a member of the whole body of the enemy's iron church so they had the right concept you know but anyway and his was right in in uh in god's mind god stood up as right
[00:33:46] okay that's what i'm about you know so it's not about me having my way or anybody having their way it's about the righteousness that god has established and not what i see is right but what god had declared and determined and has spoken is right that's what we're about and that's what and then watch what he says that i'm through he said and all these things will be added right there god already knows what we have need of huh
[00:34:16] and really knows it before we do.
[00:34:18] He knows what we're going to need tomorrow, next week, next month, next year.
[00:34:23] He knows that.
[00:34:25] I don't know what all I'm going to need, but God knows.
[00:34:31] So he said, if I do that, the other thing comes as a result of those that was in Bible study Wednesday night,
[00:34:40] did not uh when solomon sought the spiritual things he went on how can i govern these your people give me a discerning spirit and understanding heart and all that stuff like that give me a heart of wisdom so i can do right by your people about you and your people that's what solomon asked for and christian god said because i would give you that and because you didn't ask for the other stuff i'll give that to you as well
[00:35:09] The new one shall be wiser than you on earth.
[00:35:14] And it means among people.
[00:35:17] And God made Solomon that way because Solomon asked for the right thing.
[00:35:21] Well, that's what God is saying.
[00:35:23] Solomon didn't ask for stuff.
[00:35:25] Solomon asked for, bottom line is, a relationship with God and give him wisdom to lead his people.
[00:35:33] And he acknowledged.
[00:35:34] Why he did that?
[00:35:34] I love it.
[00:35:35] I teach it too.
[00:35:36] Solomon said, I don't know how to lead.
[00:35:39] i don't know how to govern these your people and i and so if we anybody dangerous they're gonna feel on their own they don't have to lead god's people or anything for that we don't want to use our lead our family we don't know how to lead anything except god be with us amen and we and we draw from him as to how to do it amen so god already knows what we have need of he knows what everybody have neither
[00:36:09] and He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory.
[00:36:14] And I don't get what it is.
[00:36:15] And again, sometimes it may not manifest the way we want, the time that we want, where He would do it because He's God and we're His children.
[00:36:26] Amen.
[00:36:26] So I'll close it out right there.
[00:36:28] Amen.
[00:36:29] The invitation is extended.
[00:36:31] And does anyone want to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and your personal Savior?
[00:36:37] This is a good time to do it.
[00:36:39] Now, being in church does not save anybody.
[00:36:43] And one of the greatest concerns that pastors have and that people who do research have nowadays is, are there people in the church sometimes that have never confessed Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior?
[00:36:58] They've just been going to church.
[00:37:00] And I had one person tell me once they didn't even know they were supposed to because they got baptized as an infant and they thought that was sufficient.
[00:37:09] They didn't even know there was another step to take.
[00:37:12] And this is why we as pastors have to make sure that we emphasize what salvation is.
[00:37:17] With your mouth you confess, in your heart you believe.
[00:37:21] But I have to confess Him with my mouth.
[00:37:24] What I believe in my heart, confess with my mouth.
[00:37:27] and but it's not one or the other it's and both both and uh not one or the other well god you knows my heart no day have i confessed him with my mouth huh amen because if i if i believe it in my heart i will confess it with my mouth if i really believe it now i can say it with my mouth and not believe it in my heart but i cannot believe it in my heart without confessing it with my mouth
[00:37:53] Amen.
[00:37:53] That's how God has wired and set these things up.
[00:37:55] So anyway, so that, and anyone who wants to unite with this church fellowship, Amen.
[00:38:00] Seals Creek AME Zion Church, great church.
[00:38:03] Amen.
[00:38:04] Great people.
[00:38:05] I invite you to do that or rededicate your life for that matter.
[00:38:09] That would be the third charge.
[00:38:10] So the first one always is to call to salvation.
[00:38:14] God is always calling us to salvation.
[00:38:16] He's saying to everybody, behold, I stand at the door and knock.
[00:38:20] And if anyone will hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and sit with them and they with me.
[00:38:27] That's what God wants to do.
[00:38:29] Amen.
[00:38:30] All right.
[00:38:31] With that being said, we have now received our tithes and offering.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
Brother Jeff, are you available to come on and speak to that?
[00:38:40] Yes, sir.
[00:38:41] I want to thank everyone for taking part in this virtual giving.
[00:38:46] And I want to say this.
[00:38:47] We do have cash out.
[00:38:49] Sears Creek, Dollar Sign Cash App, AIM Design.
[00:38:53] You know, you can so do that today.
[00:38:58] For many of us, we do that pretty frequent anyway.
[00:39:01] For those that have checks in hand and money, the weather being what it is, I'm asking you to put in your tithe envelope and tuck it away the next Sunday.
[00:39:10] Or when you call me, you can always call me and I will pick it up if you feel, and it won't be today, it won't be, it'll probably be Wednesday.
[00:39:19] and Will of Permittance.
[00:39:21] Well, if you can keep it and turn it in next Sunday, we'll be able to come to church.
[00:39:26] As far as the Cash App, please, everybody that has the availability to do that, if you can Cash App, we will appreciate that.
[00:39:35] And that's all I have to say about that, Pastor.
[00:39:38] We can bless the offering, the virtual offering that's coming through Cash App, because I heard some things dinging.
[00:39:44] I hope some people are doing that, so we can bless that virtual offering if you so desire.

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]:
Amen.
[00:39:51] Thank you so much, Brother Jeff, for that.
[00:39:55] And yeah, bills keep coming.
[00:39:57] That doesn't stop because the weather is probably going to be, at least the gas bill, probably going to be higher because trying to keep the building warm during this cold time to keep stuff from freezing is critical.
[00:40:11] And I want to thank those who
[00:40:14] Work to make sure the building is winterized, I guess I should say, or at least prepared for this season.
[00:40:22] Again, when you all hear me say that, and I may not think to say it every time, but Thanksgiving is in my heart.
[00:40:30] I thank people for what they do.
[00:40:32] I thank God for the tech team this morning.
[00:40:34] Amen.
[00:40:35] Thank God for the choir.
[00:40:36] Thank God for all of you that are online.
[00:40:38] Sunday's church school this morning.
[00:40:40] Sunday school, church school, the superintendent does a marvelous job in leading us in church school and wonderful teachers.
[00:40:48] Amen.
[00:40:49] I'm telling you, we're blessed.
[00:40:51] Amen.
[00:40:52] And I know we are blessed.
[00:40:54] And I hope you know that you are blessed.
[00:40:56] Amen, somebody.
[00:40:58] All right.
[00:40:58] So anyway, so with that, let me ask, now the doctor will come on with the announcements.

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
Good morning, church.
[00:41:11] There is very few announcements.
[00:41:13] Of course, all presidents or secretaries or organizations were asked to turn in their slides on yesterday.
[00:41:20] So if you have not turned in your slide of information or sent the information to be converted into a slide, please send that today so that I can complete the PowerPoint and get it sent to Dr. Merriweather today.
[00:41:36] The third quarter ended yesterday.
[00:41:41] So I will be working on finalizing all numbers.
[00:41:46] I will send out the numbers individually so that you all can complete your reports this week so that we will be prepared for quarter on the 12th.
[00:42:04] This is pretty much all I have.
[00:42:07] Stay in.
[00:42:08] Stay warm.
[00:42:10] Of course, as I've said throughout the emails, make sure that we are calling and checking on our elderly and ensuring that everyone is safe and warm.
[00:42:20] This is all I have.

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
I have a question.
[00:42:24] I have an announcement, if I'm allowed.
[00:42:28] Go ahead.
[00:42:30] Go ahead.
[00:42:31] The Lay Council
[00:42:33] Let's see, Salisbury District Lay Counselor, Lay Academy is February the 7th.
[00:42:40] February the 7th.
[00:42:42] I don't remember the location.
[00:42:44] Lamont Young?
[00:42:45] I don't remember the location, but it's actually, it's always for the Lay Academy.
[00:42:50] We have seven tickets.
[00:42:52] The reason they got seven, because we're supposed to have seven officials for the Lay, all the officers go to the Lay Counselor.
[00:43:02] So if we could,
[00:43:04] Make sure we try to attend that February 7th.
[00:43:07] It may be at New Hope, I'm not sure of the place, but I know it's that morning, February 7th.
[00:43:13] So please, always try to attend the meetings that we should be there.
[00:43:19] Make sure we stay and get the information.
[00:43:22] That's all I have.

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]:
Okay all right thank you all so much for the announcements and I thank Dr. Anita for keeping us always well informed we appreciate you so much for all that you do you're so very very reliable and dependable so we don't again we don't take that for granted okay okay all right so let me give God some praise for the
[00:43:50] The music ministry.
[00:43:51] Amen.
[00:43:52] And even though sometimes that's just the way it is with technology.
[00:43:56] Thank God for the effort.
[00:43:57] Amen.
[00:43:59] The tech team that tried to get us, you know, that going.
[00:44:03] Things happen.
[00:44:04] But, you know, hey, I'm happy.
[00:44:06] I praise God for everything.
[00:44:07] Amen.
[00:44:08] I pray God for what people try to do.
[00:44:11] Amen.
[00:44:12] And so I thank God.
[00:44:13] I want to thank God again for your presence this morning.
[00:44:15] I think 25 is pretty good for virtual platform.
[00:44:19] I really do for our congregation.
[00:44:22] So I'm thrilled.
[00:44:23] And if I turn pink, you don't tickle pink.
[00:44:27] Amen.
[00:44:28] So, all right.
[00:44:29] Anything else?
[00:44:31] I think the songs are ready, but they just can't be played on Zoom.
[00:44:36] And so, you know, so we won't worry about that.
[00:44:40] But I do thank God for your working to make that happen.
[00:44:43] Brother, I don't like, I don't like, yeah, okay, so some things I don't do virtually, but let's one person read it, because it's hard to do it in unison, and that would be like the affirmation of faith.
[00:45:06] you know if you know that we don't do virtually i don't do the um well we haven't done a responsive reading a long time anyway but responsive reading and and uh the affirmation of faith i don't do uh because it's hard to get unison uh on zoom you know well that's why the choir didn't sing live usually on zoom because it's hard to you know get synced right so but anyway so we thank god for each and every one of you
[00:45:34] For all that you do, pray you have a blessed day.
[00:45:38] Try to stay warm and dry.
[00:45:41] And as Dr. Nita said, especially class leaders, check on your class members.
[00:45:46] Anything that we can do, notice I say can do, I can't promise you what I will do, not in this weather.
[00:45:54] What if I can do it, I'll do it.
[00:45:57] Amen, somebody.
[00:45:58] But if I can't do it, if it's driving, it's going to be out for me.
[00:46:02] you know amen i want to do get on the road if i absolutely have to plus most of us live so far apart from one another it would be hard to do anyway all right yes i think that is it my brothers and my sisters so again let me give a shout out uh to say to everybody a man and uh that had a role in and uh in organizing and planning the service
[00:46:26] And then I thank God for everybody that got online and participated in the service.
[00:46:33] And may God bless each and every one of you for your efforts.
[00:46:35] Let's go to the Lord in prayer.
[00:46:37] Better benediction.
[00:46:39] Gracious God, our Father, we thank you, Lord, for allowing us to come.
[00:46:43] We thank you, God, for your spirit that was with us.
[00:46:45] We thank you, God, for all the efforts that was made for the worship to go as planned.
[00:46:51] But sometimes things just don't work out.
[00:46:54] The way we like, but you're still worthy to be praised, and I thank you, God, for those who work so hard to make all of this possible, and I pray you will bless them, oh God, for what they work to do.
[00:47:07] So bless each and every one of us now, oh God, and so we ask that you would dismiss us from this platform, but never from your presence.
[00:47:14] Keep all of us safe, well, and dry.
[00:47:17] This we ask in Jesus' name.
[00:47:19] Amen.
[00:47:20] Alrighty.
[00:47:21] God bless you all, and we'll see you when we see you.
[00:47:25] All right, enjoy the football game.

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
So keep ready.
[00:47:28] All right, again.

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]:
God bless.
[00:47:30] Everybody be blessed.
[00:47:31] Right, all right, be blessed.
[00:47:33] Y'all go ahead and get the chicken, Dennis.
[00:47:34] Y'all already have it ready now.

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
All right, we're going to be eating.
[00:47:41] Go help for it to go.
[00:47:42] We will be eating.
[00:47:43] All right.
[00:47:46] Okay.
[00:47:47] Love y'all.
[00:47:48] Later.
