Beyond the Mirage: Finding True Satisfaction in Christ

The pastor uses John 7 and Revelation 3 to call both unbelievers and believers to a deeper relationship with Jesus. While the historical context of the Feast of Booths and the correct application of Rev. 3:20 to believers are commendable, the overall framework is therapeutic. The sermon is characterized by a very low text-to-talk ratio, relying on the pastor's explanation rather than the public reading of Scripture, and the gospel presentation is weak, emphasizing personal satisfaction over repentance from sin and the satisfaction of divine justice.

Theological Status: Theological Weakness Biblical Parallel(Archetype): Laodicea
❓ What do these grades mean?
🔍 Biblical Discernment: The 7 Church Parallels
The Faithful Parallels Smyrna • Philadelphia
Teaching that parallels the churches that endure suffering with true spiritual riches (Rev 2:9) and keep the Word of Christ without denial despite having "little strength" (Rev 3:8).
The Cold Orthodox Parallel Ephesus
Teaching that upholds doctrinal precision yet parallels the loss of the "first love"—the vital, motivating power of the Gospel (Rev 2:4).
The Formalist Parallels Sardis • Laodicea
Teaching that parallels churches relying on a reputation of being alive while being spiritually dead (Rev 3:1), or resting in lukewarm self-sufficiency, claiming to be "rich" while spiritually bankrupt (Rev 3:17).
The Compromised Parallels Pergamum • Thyatira
Teaching that parallels churches tolerating the "doctrine of Balaam" through cultural accommodation (Rev 2:14), or allowing seductive teachings that lead the flock into false gospels and immorality (Rev 2:20).
Why strictly "Mark & Avoid"?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This church's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.

🧐 Overview

Sermon Summary: This sermon explores two powerful invitations from Jesus: to 'come and drink' for those spiritually thirsty, and to 'come and dine' for believers who may have grown lukewarm. It contrasts the empty promises of worldly fulfillment with the lasting satisfaction found only in a deep, personal relationship with Christ.

Pastoral Analysis: The pastor uses John 7 and Revelation 3 to call both unbelievers and believers to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Biblical Parallel(Archetype): Laodicea — The sermon's focus on personal fulfillment, spiritual satisfaction, and filling a 'God-shaped void' aligns with the therapeutic and self-focused posture of Laodicea, which prioritizes personal benefit over radical discipleship.

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard

Overall Verdict: Theologically Weak

CategoryStatusReasoning
Soteriology ⚠️ WEAK The gospel invitation focuses on personal fulfillment ('satisfy your soul') and filling a 'God-shaped void' rather than the biblical categories of sin, repentance, and propitiation. It presents a therapeutic solution to a felt need, which, while not entirely false, is an incomplete and anemic presentation of the Gospel.
Bibliology ⚠️ WEAK While the Bible is affirmed as the source of truth, its role in the service is minimal. The sermon features an extremely low text-to-talk ratio, starving the congregation of the public reading of God's Word and making the pastor's commentary, rather than the text itself, the primary focus.
Hermeneutic ✅ PASS The pastor correctly interprets Jesus's statement in John 7 as the fulfillment of the Feast of Booths' symbolism and correctly applies Revelation 3:20 to believers, avoiding the common error of using it as an evangelistic text for unbelievers. The historical context provided for both passages is helpful and accurate.
Theology Proper ✅ PASS God is presented as the sovereign provider and the one who invites humanity into relationship with Himself. There are no claims that compromise His key attributes like omniscience or sovereignty.
Sacramentology ⚪ N/A No sacraments (Communion or Baptism) were observed or discussed in the provided transcript.

Passages Read Aloud:

Key References: John 7:37, John 7:38, Revelation 3:17, Revelation 3:18

Christological Connection: Thematic: The pastor thematically connects both passages to Jesus as the one who invites people to find ultimate spiritual satisfaction in Him, both initially and continually.

🧱 Sermon Outline

  • Introduction [00:40:49 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor recaps the series 'Invitations from Jesus' and introduces the two invitations for the day: 'Come and drink' from John 7 and 'Come and dine' from Revelation 3.
  • Point 1: Come and Drink (John 7) [00:44:44 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor provides detailed historical context for the Feast of Booths and the water-pouring ceremony, setting the stage for Jesus's dramatic declaration that He is the source of living water for all who are spiritually thirsty.
  • Point 2: Come and Dine (Revelation 3) [01:00:38 ▶️ 📄] : The sermon shifts to the church at Laodicea, explaining their self-sufficient, wealthy context and how it led to a lukewarm faith. Jesus's invitation to 'come and dine' is presented as a call for believers to return to deep, daily fellowship with Him.
  • Conclusion and Application [01:15:02 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor calls the listeners to respond to one of the two invitations: unbelievers are urged to 'come and drink' for salvation, while believers are challenged to 'come and dine' by repenting of distractions and prioritizing time with Jesus.

🗝️ Key Topics & Themes

  • Feast of Booths [00:44:49 ▶️ 📄] : Explanation of the Feast of Booths and its significance.
  • Feast of Booths [00:44:53 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor explains the historical context and practices of the Feast of Booths, including camping, remembering God's provision, and praying for future provision.
  • Feast of Tabernacles [00:49:08 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor explains the significance of the Feast of Tabernacles and its rituals.
  • Spiritual thirst and fulfillment [00:53:54 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor discusses the concept of spiritual thirst and how Jesus offers spiritual fulfillment.
  • Fulfillment and satisfaction through belief in Jesus [00:54:22 ▶️ 📄] : The pastor discusses how Jesus promises fulfillment to anyone who believes in him, contrasting this with the emptiness found in worldly pursuits.

✅ Commendations

Hermeneutics | Correct Application of Revelation 3:20

The pastor is to be strongly commended for correctly applying Revelation 3:20 to believers (the church at Laodicea) who have grown lukewarm, rather than misusing it as a proof-text for evangelizing unbelievers. This demonstrates careful handling of a commonly abused passage.

Exegesis | Effective Use of Historical Context

The explanation of the Feast of Booths, its rituals, and its theological significance provided a rich and helpful background for understanding Jesus's dramatic declaration in John 7. This grounding in redemptive history strengthened the sermon's foundation.

⚠️ Theological Concerns

🟠 Therapeutic Gospel Presentation

Root Cause: Therapeutic Deism. This approach reduces God to a divine therapist whose primary role is to meet our felt needs and help us feel fulfilled, rather than a holy King who demands our worship and obedience.

"You've been trying to satisfy your soul with so many other things, but Jesus is the only one who can really satisfy... satisfy the part of my soul that's missing you." [01:15:12 ▶️ 📄]

Correction: The gospel call is not primarily about finding fulfillment, but about being reconciled to God. It requires acknowledging our sin against God's law (Romans 3:23), repenting of that sin (Acts 2:38), and trusting in Christ alone, who absorbed God's wrath on our behalf (1 John 4:10), for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.

🟠 Anemic Public Reading of Scripture

Root Cause: Moralistic Drift (Sardis). While the content isn't strictly moralistic, the *form* reflects a drift away from the centrality and power of the proclaimed Word, leading to spiritual malnourishment and a church that has a reputation for being alive but is weak.

"Look at what he says, John 7, verse 37. So on the last day of the feast, the great day... Jesus stood up and... cried out... If there's anybody who's spiritually longing... let him come where? To me. And do what? Drink." [00:50:52 ▶️ 📄]

Correction: The public reading of Scripture is a non-negotiable element of corporate worship commanded by the Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:13). The power is in the Word of God itself, which is 'living and active' (Hebrews 4:12). The sermon should be an exposition of the read text, not a replacement for it.

[00:21:06] The kingdom and its treasures and everything else in will be added unto you

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]:
well good morning church let somebody know you're glad to see them at church today and you can have a seat
[00:22:13] All right well my name is Garrett if we haven't got a chance to meet and on behalf of our senior pastor pastor David and our entire staff and team welcome to Christ Community Church this morning y'all man when worship's going like that I just don't want it to end but we're gonna get right back to it here in a second if this happens to be your first time I just want to welcome you today
[00:22:38] Whether you were here because you've been planning on coming for a while, found us online, or somebody told you you were grabbing Starbucks this morning and you ended up here first, we're so glad that you're here.
[00:22:48] We believe that God had you on His mind this morning and you were prayed for before you walked in the door.
[00:22:55] We'd love to connect with you before you leave though.
[00:22:57] so our way of doing that is on the seat back pocket in front of you there's a couple of different cards the blue one it's our connect card if you would take a few moments fill that card out and then at the end of service take it with you to the black connect booth that's right across the lobby somebody's going to meet you there in exchange for that card we've got a gift for you that we feel like would be a blessing to you is our way of just saying thank you so much for joining us so church family could you help me welcome our first time guest this morning
[00:23:21] we're glad you're here and we always have a lot of stuff going on at Christ Community Church so you can look at your news and note sheet or the screen behind me to find out everything that's going on I'm gonna highlight three things I know that's a lot but I know we can we can get through it together that we've got going on small group leaders training is coming up this Thursday y'all so if you have been we have a lot of different groups and community already the only group we're missing is yours
[00:23:45] And if you've been thinking about starting a small group, praying into what it would look like to host a small group at your house, you do not have to have it all figured out.
[00:23:55] You don't even have to be all in right now.
[00:23:58] But if you're considering joining a small group, would you do us a favor and go ahead and sign up to attend that small group leaders training?
[00:24:05] It's going to be this Thursday.
[00:24:06] We're going to have food.
[00:24:07] Let us know that you're going to attend so we can get enough food for everybody.
[00:24:10] If you need childcare, let us know.
[00:24:12] We'll take care of that as well.
[00:24:13] We just want to make sure that we have all the groups available so that we can have as many opportunities for community going into this semester so that everybody has a place here at Christ Community Church.
[00:24:24] Next thing that we've got going on is our Next Steps class coming up on Sunday, next Sunday.
[00:24:30] It's not this Sunday, next Sunday.
[00:24:32] And that is our pathway to membership here at Christ Community Church.
[00:24:34] Our members are entrusted with advancing the vision of the house.
[00:24:38] And one of the ways that we do that is we nominate elders.
[00:24:41] And you do have to be a member at Christ Community to nominate an elder or to serve as an elder.
[00:24:47] So if that's something that you would consider being a part of this year,
[00:24:52] Then go ahead and sign up to attend that Next Steps class.
[00:24:55] Now, just attending the class, again, does not make you a member.
[00:24:58] You still have to agree to join, but if you're curious, hey, I'd love to know what the heartbeat of Christ Community Church is, then go ahead and sign up to attend that.
[00:25:05] Pastor David will be speaking a little bit on that.
[00:25:08] You get to meet some of our elders there, and it's just a good time learning a little bit more about what we have going on.
[00:25:12] And also, our worship team is amazing, aren't they?
[00:25:15] and this January is open enrollment for worship ministry now that just doesn't include people being on stage singing and playing so if you're like me and you'd say Garrett I can't sing I can't play an instrument not well anyways and the only place I sing is the shower and nobody knows that except for my mom right then
[00:25:32] Then you can serve in the back and you can do sound, lighting.
[00:25:36] There's people next door that do our live stream, stuff like that.
[00:25:39] If you have any kind of desire to just serve the Lord with those giftings, talents, and abilities, or just learn them and be a part of that process, then sign up during worship open enrollment that is going on throughout the month of January.
[00:25:53] All right, so here's something that maybe you knew, maybe you didn't know, and we're really excited about it.
[00:25:58] Christ Community Church is turning 20 years old this year!
[00:26:02] We're leaving our teenage phase moving into the next chapter.
[00:26:08] And God has done some incredible things throughout the history of our church.
[00:26:12] God has written some incredible stories and testimonies.
[00:26:16] And if this is your first Sunday, you're part of that.
[00:26:18] And if you've been here for all 20 years of the church,
[00:26:21] Then you're also a part of that.
[00:26:22] So wherever you fall on that, you are a part of God writing some incredible stories.
[00:26:27] And right now what we'd like to do is just show a video to highlight some of the incredible journey that God has had us on for these last 20 years.
[00:26:34] We're gonna be watching videos throughout the months leading up to our 20th anniversary in April, just telling the story of our church.
[00:26:41] So go ahead and turn your attention to the screen behind me and check this video out.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]:
My name is Dean Burris and I am the planting pastor of Christ Community Church.
[00:26:52] Twenty years ago I was a senior associate pastor at Christ Community Church in Huntersville at the time and we had a vision to plant churches in the area and this was the first area that we wanted to start a new church.
[00:27:05] But we chose Mooresville because we were looking for communities that were growing and needed churches in the area.
[00:27:13] And so Morsel was at the top of the list.
[00:27:15] We asked for a one-year commitment from people to help plant CCC Morsel.
[00:27:23] And so we got those commitments together, and then we put everybody into community groups.
[00:27:29] So they began to meet in community groups two or three months before we even launched.
[00:27:33] Yeah, we saw a number of but-God moments in the launching of Christ Community Morsel.
[00:27:41] I think one of the biggest ones for me was the team of people that God put together to launch the church and just to see how God put together all of those people and they were incredible people who loved the Lord, who had a vision and a passion to launch this church and to plant the church in this community and just to see how God formed those people was definitely a but God moment.
[00:28:07] The financial provision of the church we set a budget it was a dream budget in order to do this this is what we need and what was amazing is that we calculated where we should be after a few months and we thought you know that that initial amount would be lowered but it had increased and God was just providing financially and then of course to me the biggest
[00:28:35] But God moment was God's call of Pastor David to be the first senior pastor of Christ Community Memorial.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]:
I was on staff at Christ Community Huntersville.
[00:28:49] I was the middle school pastor.
[00:28:50] I'd been there for about three years.
[00:28:53] And during that season of time, I was starting to understand more about how God had shaped and gifted me and Katie.
[00:29:02] And we were starting to have a little bit of like holy discontent, if you will.
[00:29:06] I always thought that we were going to be in youth ministry until the day we died.

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
You would actually get very offended if someone would say, oh, you have bigger things in store for youth.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]:
We kind of thought we would have like walkers, pushing walkers, throwing dodgeballs at kids' faces.
[00:29:19] But then the Lord sort of shifted things.
[00:29:21] And it was more about realizing that we love to be able to teach no matter who it was.
[00:29:29] We love to be able to walk alongside people no matter what season of life.
[00:29:33] So as a family, as the church was starting to be planted, we were growing our family.
[00:29:40] We were pregnant with our first daughter.
[00:29:43] And we were super excited about all God had in store.
[00:29:47] We were young ones, right?

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
How old were you?

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]:
I was 24.
[00:29:52] Yeah, and I was 25.
[00:29:53] And so we were just looking into the future thinking, okay, God's got big plans.
[00:29:57] This is getting ready to be a busy season, learning to become new parents.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
And at that point we had been married for four years.
[00:30:05] So we got married as babies.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]:
So about three months into the life of the church in Morrisville, they were ready for a full-time pastor.
[00:30:15] And so our staff in Huntersville, they asked people to start to pray that the Lord would identify
[00:30:21] Who's supposed to be the next leader?
[00:30:24] And so Katie and I went home and we just started praying.
[00:30:27] And so after praying about it for a while, we both felt like the Holy Spirit was saying that I should approach the planting pastor about it and the senior pastor of the church in Huntersville.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
I was thinking I was I was excited and on board with it as soon as he started talking about it because I knew that he had such a gift with communication and he already had the gift of shepherding young people and I knew that he would do a good job with the whole congregation so I was I was excited I was also nervous and thinking wow we're really young but I knew that if God was calling to do it that he was going to give us everything we needed to do it.

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]:
Praise the Lord.
[00:31:12] Can we just give the Lord a hand clap of praise?
[00:31:15] It's all for Him.
[00:31:15] It's all about Him.
[00:31:17] It always has been and it always will be.
[00:31:20] I'm so thankful just to have been a part of this.
[00:31:24] God has been so good.
[00:31:25] Would you stand as we read Scripture together this morning?
[00:31:30] I can't think of a better way to celebrate what the Lord has done than praising His name.
[00:31:36] Psalm 146 says praise the Lord.
[00:31:39] Say that with me church.
[00:31:40] Praise the Lord.
[00:31:41] Let all that I am praise the Lord.
[00:31:46] I will praise the Lord as long as I live and I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
[00:31:54] Don't put your confidence in powerful people.
[00:31:58] There's no help for you there.
[00:32:01] When they breathe their last breath, they return to the earth, and all other plans die with them.
[00:32:08] But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, a man whose hope is in the Lord their God.
[00:32:16] He made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.
[00:32:22] He keeps every promise forever.
[00:32:26] He gives justice to the oppressed.
[00:32:28] and Food to the Hungry.
[00:32:31] The Lord frees the prisoners.
[00:32:34] The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
[00:32:37] The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
[00:32:41] The Lord loves the godly.
[00:32:43] The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
[00:32:47] He cares for the orphans and widows, but He frustrates the plan of the wicked.
[00:32:53] Listen, read after me.
[00:32:54] The Lord will reign forever.
[00:32:58] He will be your God throughout the generations.
[00:33:05] Amen.
[00:33:05] He's good and He's faithful.
[00:33:06] Can we just worship Him and continue to worship Him in this place, church?
[00:33:10] Amen.
[00:33:21] And I love you, Lord Oh, your mercies never fail me And all my days I've been down
[00:33:50] From the moment that until I lay my head Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God Cause all my life you have been faithful
[00:34:18] I will sing of the goodness of God

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]:

[00:36:07] We thank you for all.

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER UNKNOWN]:

[00:36:13] Because your goodness is running after.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]:

[00:37:41] I will sing of the goodness of God I will sing of the goodness of God

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]:

[00:38:14] Cause all my life you have been faithful Sing to Him.
[00:38:22] And all my life you have been so, so good With every breath that I am able

[00:38:47] Lord, when we awaken in the morning,
[00:38:52] May we sing your praise.
[00:38:54] Lord, when we're down and heavy, Lord, may we sing your praise.
[00:39:02] Lord, when we're shouting from the mountaintops in victory, God, may we be the same and sing your praise.
[00:39:09] In every circumstance, in every phase of life,
[00:39:13] and our history you've been good and you're so faithful and God we love you this morning Lord as we continue to worship you as we open your word God move in this place I love the lyric is your your goodness is running after us this morning there's someone in this place this morning that needs to come back to you may today be the day
[00:39:41] May today be the day that they stop and let you embrace them.
[00:39:47] They stop running from you.
[00:39:49] Lord, have your way in this place.
[00:39:50] Have your way through Pastor David.
[00:39:52] Lord, we love you.
[00:39:53] We praise you.

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]:
And our God speaks.
[00:39:56] Amen.
[00:39:58] Amen.
[00:39:59] If the Lord's been good to you, say amen as you're having a seat.
[00:40:02] He's so, so good.
[00:40:05] Well, over the next four months, as we get ready to celebrate our 20th anniversary in April, we're having highlights each month about the different phases of the church.
[00:40:14] And so you'll see some different videos.
[00:40:15] They're going back interviewing people.
[00:40:17] So you'll see some videos once a month or so.
[00:40:21] We're going to be asking you to bring in some pictures and photos from that phase.
[00:40:32] And we're going to be creating some cool displays in the lobby that sort of show the different phases of the church.
[00:40:36] And so we can't wait for that.
[00:40:38] We're going to have a big mega celebration of God and all he's done over the last 20 years in April.
[00:40:44] And then we're going to look forward to the next 20 years.
[00:40:46] Amen.
[00:40:46] Anybody excited about what he's going to do in the next 20?
[00:40:49] yeah for sure well if you got your bibles let's open to john chapter seven john chapter seven we're in week three of this series called invitations from jesus starting your new year with him and so what we're looking at are these passages of scripture where jesus himself personally invites you into something with him
[00:41:09] And I think it's beautiful that the God of the universe, the one who pulled skin on, the one who breathed out the stars into existence and set the planets in place, the one whose very words made everything there is that we see and we don't see, that he actually invites us to do things with him.
[00:41:30] that's amazing to me and so we're looking at well let's start this new year off with the Lord Jesus and what is he inviting us into and so week one pastor Garrett brought the word and he said that the Lord is calling us to come and see for some of you this is new you're exploring your faith like you're you're still not sure about who Jesus is and and and you want to sort of find the claims of Jesus and and search through those and Jesus says come and see
[00:41:58] Come and see that he is who he said he is.
[00:42:01] You can explore all the claims of Jesus because he is true and he's the Savior.
[00:42:06] And then he said, come and follow me.
[00:42:08] It's not just a head exploration, but it's a surrender of our heart to him.
[00:42:13] He wants all of our heart, all of our life.
[00:42:15] And so he's called us into following in his footsteps.
[00:42:19] So that we can come and be fishers of men and accomplish His plans on the earth.
[00:42:25] Last week we talked about how Jesus has invited us to come and experience the generosity of God.
[00:42:32] How many of you experience the goodness of God?
[00:42:35] We just sang about that.
[00:42:36] But it's not just for us to experience.
[00:42:39] Once we've experienced the generosity of God, he wants us to extend it to other people so that they know Jesus is real too.
[00:42:47] Hopefully you've had a chance to do that this week.
[00:42:49] Well, week three, we're looking at two invitations.
[00:42:51] I'm going to do my best to get through them both.
[00:42:53] We'll go through, we're going to start in John chapter 7, and they kind of go together.
[00:42:58] We're going to be in John chapter 7 and in Revelation.
[00:43:01] But the two invitations are to come and drink.
[00:43:05] and then come and dine.
[00:43:08] Come and drink, then come and dine.
[00:43:09] And I think these are two of the most personal invitations from Jesus in all of scripture.
[00:43:16] And so would you just pray with me in this moment that the Holy Spirit would be our teacher, that there'd be no distractions in this house or in the houses watching on live stream, and that the Spirit would speak from his word directly to every single heart, every single mind,
[00:43:35] And for you, would you just pray a prayer?
[00:43:36] Say, Jesus, I'm listening.
[00:43:39] I'm listening to your Holy Spirit.
[00:43:42] Whatever you have to say, I'm listening and I'm ready to receive it.
[00:43:50] Whether it's correction, or whether it's a whisper of love, or it's restoration, or maybe even calling me into a relationship with you.
[00:44:03] I mean, I don't even know what that looks like.
[00:44:05] Whatever it is, I'm here and I'm listening for your invite.
[00:44:13] Lord, would you do something only you can?
[00:44:17] We're so grateful for who you are and that you're still inviting people into personal relationship with you.
[00:44:25] Lord, help us never take that for granted.
[00:44:27] In the name of Jesus and all God's people said, Amen.
[00:44:31] As we jump into John chapter 7, would you celebrate with me that last week two people accepted Jesus' invitation to a relationship with Him?
[00:44:40] So exciting.
[00:44:41] God's still changing lives.
[00:44:42] We're so excited about that.
[00:44:44] So in John chapter 7, Jesus goes up to Jerusalem for something called the Feast of Booths.
[00:44:49] The Feast of Booths.
[00:44:51] And so let me give you a little background about the Feast of Booths.
[00:44:53] The Feast of Booths was established after the people made it to the Promised Land and it was a time to remember how God had provided for them while they walked through the wilderness.
[00:45:04] Remember they were in the wilderness for 40 years as they wandered the wilderness?
[00:45:08] And so what they would do is they wanted to have this festival, the Lord prescribed a festival for them, a feast,
[00:45:14] It was one of the three big feasts that every Jewish person who was able to come to Jerusalem would come at three times a year for one of the three feasts.
[00:45:25] And the Feast of Booths is one of those feasts.
[00:45:27] And what they would do is you camped out.
[00:45:29] Anybody like to camp?
[00:45:31] Yep, I would not have enjoyed the feast.
[00:45:34] Yeah, but you would camp out.
[00:45:36] So even if you had a house in Jerusalem, you would camp out on the roof or you would camp out in the yard, wherever you were.
[00:45:43] You would build a temporary shelter and then you would camp out and you would remember God's provision for his people while it was a season of wandering.
[00:45:53] In the midst of the Feast of Booths, it happened right at the end of the harvest, and so it was a way that they would thank God for how he had provided for that year.
[00:46:02] So it was looking way, way back how God had provided.
[00:46:06] Then it was looking recent, celebrating the harvest that God had just given then.
[00:46:11] Then it was also a prayer for the future for the next year's rains.
[00:46:17] Lord, would you send the rains next year for your, just like you were faithful to provide back then,
[00:46:22] Just like you were faithful to provide right now, we're trusting that you're going to be the provider into the future.
[00:46:28] And then there was an element to it that was long-range looking and they were saying, we believe that there's coming a time when the Messiah will come and he will bring sort of the harvest that's for the whole world.
[00:46:46] So it's looking back.
[00:46:48] God, you provided during a season of wandering.
[00:46:51] You provided this year.
[00:46:52] We're praying you provide next year.
[00:46:54] And then we're praying that you provide and send the Savior who will bring about an ultimate harvest.
[00:47:02] This is what the Feast of Booths was all about.
[00:47:04] And so Jesus' brothers say, hey, if you're really the one that you say you are, why don't you go publicly announce yourself at this festival?
[00:47:13] And he says, I'm not going to go up in a public way this year.
[00:47:18] My time to be glorified hasn't yet come.
[00:47:21] So he goes up in secret.
[00:47:22] But about midway through the festival, he starts to teach.
[00:47:26] And in the midst of this teaching time, it comes to the last day, the great day of the festival.
[00:47:31] It was a seven day long
[00:47:33] Festival.
[00:47:34] And so here's how they would start out their day.
[00:47:37] At the 9 a.m. offering, the priest would go down.
[00:47:41] He had a golden chalice, a golden pitcher.
[00:47:45] And he would walk down from the temple down to the Pool of Siloam.
[00:47:50] And this was the water source that was there in Jerusalem.
[00:47:53] And so he would dip his golden pitcher in the pool of Siloam and then they would have a procession back up to the temple.
[00:48:03] And at the 9 a.m. offering, when they normally did the wine offering, a drink offering before the Lord that they poured out before the altar,
[00:48:10] They would also add in this water.
[00:48:13] And it was a celebration looking back at how God had provided, how God had provided this year, how he was gonna provide in the year to come, and then how he would have an ultimate provision through the Savior, through the Messiah.
[00:48:26] And so they would pour the wine and the water at the same time and it was supposed to represent how the love of God and the life of God would flow out from this altar all the way around the entire earth.
[00:48:41] And so they would do it every day for seven days.
[00:48:45] and so the priest would come back and as he's marching back they would stop at the court of women at the the court of women everybody would gather on the steps and all the levites that's their praise team they they would come up and they would lead people in the psalms of ascent they'd seen psalm 113 through psalm 118 as a celebration of what god had done
[00:49:08] What he is doing and then what he was going to do and then everybody would wait with bated breath as the priest poured in the offering, the water and the wine, and it was to look back,
[00:49:20] and to celebrate what just had happened to prepare for what was gonna happen and then to the ultimate provision of the Messiah who through him the whole earth would experience the love and the life of God and so it's this last day of the feast the last day was the most important day and so the priest instead of walking around one time around the altar would walk around seven times
[00:49:45] Around the altar.
[00:49:46] It was a huge celebration.
[00:49:47] There was great anticipation.
[00:49:49] And at the end, whenever they poured, there was supposed to be a moment of silence.
[00:49:56] Have you ever had a service where there's like a moment of silence?
[00:49:59] Yeah.
[00:50:00] And so in the moment of silence, this is where Jesus breaks into the story.
[00:50:07] So I want you to imagine it's been seven days.
[00:50:10] All seven days, 9 a.m., the priest goes out with the water.
[00:50:15] Getzit from the Pool of Siloam brings it up.
[00:50:18] Everybody sings the same praise songs.
[00:50:21] Psalm 113 through Psalm 118, Psalms of Ascent.
[00:50:24] Everybody's praying.
[00:50:25] Then at the time of the offering, they pour the water and the wine.
[00:50:28] It's supposed to be the love of God and the life of God that's going to come from this place and flow out.
[00:50:34] We're thinking back to all he has done in the past, all he did this year, all he's going to do in the coming year.
[00:50:40] And then one day, the coming of the Messiah, through him,
[00:50:43] is going to flow out to all the nations, the love and the life of God.
[00:50:49] And this is what Jesus says where he has his first invitation.
[00:50:52] Look at what it says, John 7, verse 37.
[00:50:55] So on the last day of the feast, the great day, this is the seventh day, Jesus stood up and at the moment of silence, when everybody is quiet and they're contemplating their own need,
[00:51:11] For spiritual refreshment, this is what you're supposed to do in the quiet moment.
[00:51:16] You're supposed to think back about how God had provided everything your ancestor needed during the time of the wilderness wanderings.
[00:51:23] Then you're supposed to think back at all that God had done over the past year.
[00:51:27] Then you're supposed to look forward for the year to come.
[00:51:30] Anything that you needed spiritually in that moment.
[00:51:34] Where was your hunger?
[00:51:36] Where was your thirst?
[00:51:37] Where was your desire in those moments?
[00:51:40] You're supposed to be thinking about God is the only one who can quench the thirst in my soul, right?
[00:51:48] Then there's coming a time where we believe the Messiah is going to come.
[00:51:53] He's going to bring the love of God and the life of God and it's going to flow out from this place to the whole world.
[00:51:59] And you're supposed to contemplate that during this moment of silence.
[00:52:03] Look at what it says.
[00:52:04] On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out while everyone else is quiet.
[00:52:10] Would you read this with me?
[00:52:12] It must have sounded like an unbelievable echo in this cacophony of silence.
[00:52:17] Read this with me.
[00:52:18] What does he say?
[00:52:20] If there's anybody who's spiritually longing, if there's anybody who spiritually needs a touch from God,
[00:52:38] If there's anybody who's explored trying to be fulfilled in any of the ways of life, in any of the things of life, anybody ever try to find fulfillment in your life through relationships?
[00:52:51] How did that work out for you?
[00:52:54] I mean, it works for a season, doesn't it?
[00:52:57] And then you realize the person is just as fallible as you are.
[00:53:02] How many of you have tried to find fulfillment through children?
[00:53:07] I mean, that works great!
[00:53:08] Then they start to talk back, right?
[00:53:10] I mean, or they don't let you sleep, right?
[00:53:13] I mean, kids are great blessings.
[00:53:14] How many of you have ever tried to find fulfillment through your work?
[00:53:19] Right?
[00:53:20] It's like if I just make accomplishments, if I just earn this level of money, if I just have this in my bank account, if I just achieve this level of health, if I just have these friendships, if I just have this intellectual pursuit, if I could just learn more, if I could soak up all knowledge, if I could just be Andrew Huberman and like have all of this stuff, whatever it is, right?
[00:53:43] In these moments, if I could just do this, then my life would fill
[00:53:48] Full.
[00:53:49] And Jesus says, is anybody thirsty?
[00:53:54] Have you gotten to the end of that mirage that you were chasing, the thing that promised fulfillment but left you feeling still empty, still not yet full?
[00:54:05] If there's anybody thirsty, read this out with me, what does he say?
[00:54:09] Let him come where?
[00:54:10] To me.
[00:54:12] And do what?
[00:54:13] Drink.
[00:54:14] Come and drink.
[00:54:16] Look at what he says.
[00:54:17] He makes this promise to anybody who comes to him.
[00:54:21] He says, whoever.
[00:54:22] Who is this promise for?
[00:54:25] Whoever.
[00:54:25] What if you've blown it a million times?
[00:54:29] It's for you.
[00:54:30] What if you've tried to find fulfillment through every relationship possible?
[00:54:36] You've tried to find it through all pleasure possible.
[00:54:39] You've tried to find it through sex or drugs or you've tried to find it through money or position or status or fame.
[00:54:44] You've tried to find it through influence.
[00:54:46] You've tried to find it through success, through friendships, through altruism, whatever it is.
[00:54:52] He says however you've tried to find whoever you are it doesn't matter who you are or where you've come from any person whoever would believe in me any person that puts their trust in me as the one to give them their souls
[00:55:12] Satisfaction.
[00:55:13] Any person who ever would believe and put their trust and faith in me, the scripture has said out of his heart will flow rivers of what?
[00:55:26] Living water.
[00:55:27] Listen to me.
[00:55:28] I don't care what gift you take, when you elevate it to the place of the giver, you will always come up empty.
[00:55:38] Anytime you take a gift of God, a person, a relationship, a success, your intelligence, whatever it is, and you elevate it to the place of God, you will come up empty because people and stuff make terrible gods.
[00:55:55] And in the midst of this moment, he looks at them and he says, as you're contemplating your spiritual thirst,
[00:56:04] If you're feeling empty inside, if you're going through a season that's dry, if you've tried everything else and you haven't reached a place of fulfillment, I just want you to know, you don't have to wait any longer.
[00:56:17] It's not about waiting for a Messiah to come.
[00:56:20] I'm here.
[00:56:23] I'm anybody you don't have to wait for something else to happen the kingdom is here the kingdom is now whosoever would come to me and believe in me I will satisfy his thirst I'll put my Holy Spirit inside of him and it'll be like this river of living water that flows out not just in that person but flows to every corner of
[00:56:53] The world, he's saying he's the fulfillment of everything that they've been praying for, for every feast that they've attended for hundreds and hundreds of years as they look back how God provided, how he provided this year, praying he'll provide next year.
[00:57:09] Let the Messiah come and through him the whole world can experience God's love and God's life.
[00:57:14] He says, if that's what you really want, I'm right here.
[00:57:19] You don't have to look any further.
[00:57:21] Guess what?
[00:57:22] You don't have to go to Mecca and make a Hajj.
[00:57:26] You don't have to pray five times a day.
[00:57:28] You don't have to fast at Ramadan.
[00:57:31] You don't have to go and rave in the river Ganges like the Hindus do.
[00:57:35] Your karmic goodness doesn't have to outweigh your karmic badness like the Buddhists say.
[00:57:41] Listen, it's not about you and the work you've done.
[00:57:44] I'm here and I'm ready to give it to you as a gift.
[00:57:48] Any person who would believe in me, you don't have to live your life thirsty.
[00:57:56] You can know what it is to experience the only thing that will satisfy the longing of your heart.
[00:58:03] There is a God-shaped void in every person, and you can try to fill it with so many other things.
[00:58:11] And he says,
[00:58:11] It may satisfy for a moment but you always come back thirsty and he says but I'm here and whenever you believe and put your trust in me in that moment I fill that spot in your life and out of you will flow rivers of living water.
[00:58:31] Look at what he says verse 39 he says now he said this about the spirit
[00:58:37] whom those who had believed in Him were going to receive.
[00:58:40] For as yet the Spirit had not yet been
[00:58:43] All these things are given because Jesus was not yet.
[00:58:46] He hadn't gone to the cross yet.
[00:58:48] He hadn't beaten sin yet.
[00:58:50] He hadn't defeated the grave yet.
[00:58:52] He wasn't resurrected from the dead.
[00:58:53] So in this moment, he's saying, you come to God through me.
[00:58:59] And after I've paid for your sins on the cross, and after I've risen from the dead, I can give you forgiveness of sins and life that lasts forever, and I'll put my spirit inside of you.
[00:59:12] You'll wake up to a brand new way of living fulfilled that you could never have ever imagined.
[00:59:20] It's the way you were designed to live.
[00:59:22] He says, so if you're thirsty, come and drink.
[00:59:26] Listen, here's Jesus invitation for some of you in the house today.
[00:59:29] Just jot this down.
[00:59:31] Here's his invitation.
[00:59:32] No substitute.
[00:59:34] Come and drink.
[00:59:35] No substitute will ever satisfy your soul.
[00:59:40] You may have tried other things and you're still coming up empty.
[00:59:43] I want to tell you there is no body like Jesus.
[00:59:49] He's the one who can satisfy the longings of your soul.
[00:59:53] He can forgive you of everything you've ever done.
[00:59:56] He can give you life that's real, true life, what it was created to be.
[01:00:02] He can give you companionship and friendship.
[01:00:05] He can give you meaning.
[01:00:07] He can give you what true success looks like.
[01:00:10] He can give you real value in your life in this moment.
[01:00:14] He says, whoever, you may have been searching all the world around trying to fill this God-shaped hole with anything except me.
[01:00:22] And he says, if you're really thirsty in the house today, I've got great news.
[01:00:26] Come and drink.
[01:00:29] There's no substitute that will ever satisfy your soul.
[01:00:34] Come and drink.
[01:00:35] But Jesus doesn't just say, come and drink.
[01:00:38] He also says, come and dine.
[01:00:40] Come and dine.
[01:00:41] So for some of you today, he said, come and drink.
[01:00:45] You've never started a relationship with me.
[01:00:46] Listen, today is your day.
[01:00:48] You can have your soul satisfied.
[01:00:51] You can understand what it is to live in personal relationship with the God who made everything.
[01:00:57] But then for those who have already come and they've drunk deeply on the waters of life, he has something else that he wants to say to us today.
[01:01:07] It's an invitation to come and dine.
[01:01:09] Look at what it says in Revelation chapter 3.
[01:01:12] Flip in your Bibles.
[01:01:13] Revelation chapter 3.
[01:01:14] Just go to the end real quick.
[01:01:16] Last book.
[01:01:17] Revelation chapter 3.
[01:01:19] Jesus is talking to Christians.
[01:01:23] This is to Christians.
[01:01:24] This is to people who have already received the Holy Spirit of God.
[01:01:28] And he's writing a letter to seven different churches with a message specifically to each church.
[01:01:34] If he was gonna write a message to the church in America, what do you think he would say?
[01:01:40] All right, that might be another series for another day.
[01:01:44] Let me tell you about this church, Laodicea.
[01:01:48] They were a really wealthy church compared to the rest of the world.
[01:01:52] and they had grown to a place of self-reliance.
[01:01:58] They prided themselves on it, on self-reliance.
[01:02:01] Laodicea was known for three things.
[01:02:03] They were known for their banking because it was a really wealthy place.
[01:02:07] They were known for their textiles.
[01:02:09] They had some of the best wool in the world and they were known for medical achievements.
[01:02:13] They had done these unbelievable things with eye salve and they were known worldwide as one of the best places for medicine.
[01:02:22] And so this place, they had believers who were making up this little church in Laodicea.
[01:02:30] And there was an emperor, Domitian, who had made a new rule.
[01:02:34] Everybody has to worship me.
[01:02:37] Everybody has to worship me.
[01:02:40] And you had to take an oath of allegiance to him.
[01:02:43] Now the Jews had an exception.
[01:02:47] They were given an exception.
[01:02:49] But the followers of Jesus were not.
[01:02:52] And so the people who were followers of Jesus weren't given any exception.
[01:02:57] They had to take a mark to worship the beast, Domitian, who was the god of this world.
[01:03:03] He proclaimed himself god of this world.
[01:03:05] And if they didn't, they weren't going to be allowed to trade in the same circles that they had walked in before.
[01:03:12] They weren't going to be able to be as rich and powerful as they were before because they were going to be limited in their business transactions because they hadn't pledged allegiance.
[01:03:21] To Domitian.
[01:03:23] And in this moment, there are people who are really well off, who love Jesus, but they were starting to question, do I have to sacrifice my lifestyle for Jesus?
[01:03:38] Can't I have like one foot in the world and one foot for Him?
[01:03:45] Jesus looks at them.
[01:03:47] And here's what he says.
[01:03:49] He makes an invitation to them to come and dine.
[01:03:52] Look at what he says.
[01:03:54] I know your works and you're not hot and you're not cold.
[01:04:01] I wish that you were cold or hot.
[01:04:04] They had everything going for them except water.
[01:04:07] And they were in a place where there was no water, so they had to pipe it in.
[01:04:11] They had to pipe it in from other places.
[01:04:12] Like if you grew up in California, you know the reality of piping water in from other places, right?
[01:04:18] They had to pipe in water from other places.
[01:04:20] So one place they got it from was Colossae.
[01:04:23] They were known for cold, refreshing water.
[01:04:26] The other place that they would pipe it in from was Hierapolis.
[01:04:29] They were known for their healing springs.
[01:04:31] It was a hot spring.
[01:04:33] But they were both far away.
[01:04:34] So by the time the water got from the cold, healing, refreshing, or the hot springs that was also healing and refreshing, by the time it got to Laodicea, it was lukewarm.
[01:04:48] And Jesus looks at them and he says, I wish that you were refreshing, or I wish that you were healing, but you're just tepid.
[01:04:57] You're lukewarm.
[01:05:00] He says, you're not hot or cold and I will spit you out of my mouth.
[01:05:06] The Greek here, it really makes me want to gag.
[01:05:11] It makes me want to vomit.
[01:05:12] You're not refreshing and you're not healing.
[01:05:15] You're just sort of there.
[01:05:16] You're just showing up.
[01:05:19] You're just present.
[01:05:20] But it's not making an impact in any way.
[01:05:24] He looks at this church who's experienced the waters of life, who's come, they've drunk, and they've been filled with the Spirit, and they have the satisfaction of the Lord, and he looks at them and he says, you're not refreshing people, you're not healing people, you're just sort of existing, and it's not making any impact on the world around you.
[01:05:46] Look at what his says to them, verse 17, he says, for you say about yourself,
[01:05:52] I am what what three things do they say I'm rich I've prospered I don't need anything not realizing that really in reality you're wretched pitiable poor blind and naked any of you ever have like a realization like when you see a photo of yourself and you're like is that what I look like right
[01:06:20] Where it's sort of you delude yourself about your appearance, right?
[01:06:25] And Jesus says, you're looking at yourself saying, boy, we got it all together.
[01:06:28] Look at our lives.
[01:06:29] We have so many blessings.
[01:06:32] We live in a great place.
[01:06:33] We live in an awesome community.
[01:06:35] We got actually money to pay our bills.
[01:06:38] We've got influence.
[01:06:40] Life seems pretty good.
[01:06:41] And he says, really, if you took a real look at your life, it's a disaster.
[01:06:52] Look at what he says.
[01:06:54] He says you think you're rich but really you're poor.
[01:06:56] You think you see perfectly but really you're blind.
[01:07:02] You think you've clothed in all of these beautiful clothes but really your life is in tatters.
[01:07:08] You're not refreshing people.
[01:07:10] You're not bringing my healing to people.
[01:07:12] You're just sort of there and it makes me want to vomit.
[01:07:17] Look at what he says at his invitation.
[01:07:20] Verse 18, he says, I counsel you, buy from me gold that's refined by fire, actual, real, meaningful life.
[01:07:30] Not just riches.
[01:07:32] So that you actually will be rich.
[01:07:35] White garments.
[01:07:36] They were known for black wool.
[01:07:38] White garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness won't be seen.
[01:07:44] Salve to anoint your eyes.
[01:07:45] Y'all so proud of your little eye salve, right?
[01:07:47] But like get salve from me that really opens your eyes so that you can see what's really happening so you can get a real picture of your life.
[01:07:55] You are deluding yourself.
[01:07:58] You think life is amazing and you don't even see what's really happening.
[01:08:03] You're just kind of existing.
[01:08:05] You're not making an impact.
[01:08:09] And look at what he says.
[01:08:10] Those whom I love, I reprove, I correct, I discipline.
[01:08:17] So be zealous and repent.
[01:08:19] Have a change in your mind.
[01:08:22] Look at what he says.
[01:08:23] This is one of the most famous verses in all of scripture.
[01:08:25] It's always taken out of context, but this is one of the most famous verses in all.
[01:08:29] Look at his invitation.
[01:08:30] Look what he says in verse 20. Who's he talking to?
[01:08:33] Believers.
[01:08:35] He's talking to the church at Laodicea.
[01:08:37] The people who have already answered his call to come and drink.
[01:08:41] Now he says, come and dine.
[01:08:45] Look at what he says.
[01:08:47] Behold, read this out loud with me.
[01:08:49] I stand at the...
[01:08:51] Door and what?
[01:08:54] Do you hear me knocking every day?
[01:08:56] Do you hear me saying I want to spend time with you?
[01:09:02] I want to speak to you.
[01:09:04] I want to shape your life.
[01:09:06] I want to shape your thinking.
[01:09:07] I want deep, intense fellowship and friendship with you where every day is with me.
[01:09:16] I'm standing at the door and I'm knocking.
[01:09:20] And he says, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, what's his promise?
[01:09:28] Look at what he says.
[01:09:29] Read this out loud.
[01:09:30] I will come into him and what?
[01:09:34] He says, any person who would open the door, I'm coming in and we're going to sit together and we're going to dine and have this fellowship, this close connection with Jesus.
[01:09:52] For those of you that are believers in the house, let me just ask you, has there ever been a time in your life where you've experienced closer connection to Jesus than right now?
[01:10:03] If not, he's saying, I'm knocking.
[01:10:08] Are you going to open the door?
[01:10:09] I'm knocking every day.
[01:10:12] I'm standing there.
[01:10:15] Listen, here's his invite.
[01:10:16] Just jot this down for those of you that are believers in the house.
[01:10:18] Come and dine.
[01:10:20] Here's what he's saying.
[01:10:21] Don't let anything distract, disturb, or delude you from dining with me.
[01:10:26] He says, what is it that's distracting you?
[01:10:31] You get to sit down with the God who made everything and he wants intense fellowship and friendship where your conversation with one another shapes your mind and your outlook and determines your actions.
[01:10:47] He wants to pour himself into you every single day and he's standing and knocking and he's like, what's distracting you?
[01:10:55] Is it your phone?
[01:10:58] Is it sports?
[01:11:00] Is it like the news?
[01:11:02] Because I've got to watch them say the same thing they said 30 minutes ago and pretend like it's brand new?
[01:11:07] They've got to say it over and over again?
[01:11:10] Like, what is the distraction?
[01:11:12] What's distracting you from spending time opening the door?
[01:11:18] Maybe you're just having a little snack pack with Jesus.
[01:11:21] And He's like, I want a full meal, baby.
[01:11:23] Like, I want to sit down and have leisure time with you.
[01:11:28] And yeah, you do the verse of the day.
[01:11:32] But it's like, if that's all you eat, you're emaciated.
[01:11:41] It's like, come sit at the table.
[01:11:44] Spend time with me.
[01:11:46] Put on a worship song and just experience my presence.
[01:11:51] Write down in a journal some prayers.
[01:11:54] Spend time listening to me.
[01:11:56] Open up my word and just hear what the Holy Spirit would say to you.
[01:12:01] I want to spend time with you today.
[01:12:03] What's distracting you?
[01:12:05] What's disturbing you?
[01:12:07] Maybe for some of us, like me, sometimes we delude ourselves and we think, oh, we're doing just fine.
[01:12:15] And Jesus is saying, no, peel the scales back from your eyes, bruh.
[01:12:23] See what really is.
[01:12:26] You're prioritizing things that are down here, up here.
[01:12:32] And the one thing that's required in life, sitting at my feet and letting me shape you, you've taken it when you have time.
[01:12:45] And then you think, oh yeah, but I mean, I'm serving.
[01:12:48] I'm doing this.
[01:12:50] He says, don't delude yourselves.
[01:12:54] He says, you're poor, wretched, and blind.
[01:12:57] You have the water of life, but it's not flowing to anybody else because you're not dining with me.
[01:13:08] So open the door and dine.
[01:13:13] Spend time with me.
[01:13:16] He's inviting you every single day, every single morning.
[01:13:19] He's waking up.
[01:13:22] And as soon as you wake up, He's not waking up.
[01:13:24] As soon as you wake up, He's knocking.
[01:13:26] And sometimes I think about my day and I'm thinking, I wonder how long I leave Him knocking.
[01:13:33] And He just wants to spend time.
[01:13:40] And He just wants to pour in.
[01:13:41] And He just wants to sit with
[01:13:45] And he just wants to correct.
[01:13:49] Like you're letting this shape your views?
[01:13:52] Social media has shaped your views today.
[01:13:55] Have I shaped your views?
[01:13:56] The news has shaped your views today.
[01:13:58] Your complaining co-workers have shaped your views today.
[01:14:01] Like your kids have shaped your views today.
[01:14:03] Have you heard from the God of the universe today?
[01:14:07] To shape your views?
[01:14:08] To set your mindset?
[01:14:11] Have you sat down and eaten at the table with the bread of life?
[01:14:19] Come and dine.
[01:14:21] Just set apart some time.
[01:14:23] Just me and you.
[01:14:24] Just a little date time together.
[01:14:26] Just us.
[01:14:28] So I can pour into you.
[01:14:30] Listen, here's this message for believers today.
[01:14:33] Come and dine.
[01:14:35] Don't let anything distract you.
[01:14:37] Don't let anything disturb that time.
[01:14:40] Don't let anything delude you into thinking it's okay when it's not okay.
[01:14:45] Don't let anything keep you from dining.
[01:14:50] Because he says daily, I'm knocking.
[01:14:53] Are you gonna open the door today?
[01:14:56] Open, come in.
[01:14:58] Let's dine together.
[01:15:01] Would you pray with me?
[01:15:02] This morning, let me ask you, which invitation from Jesus do you need to respond to?
[01:15:09] Some of you in the house, you need to come and drink.
[01:15:12] You've been trying to satisfy your soul with so many other things, but Jesus is the only one who can really satisfy.
[01:15:20] and for you if you're thirsty in the house today anyone anyone who would believe in him he says i'll pour my spirit into and out of you will flow rivers of living water if you want that and you've never experienced relationship with jesus today is your day say jesus just tell him between you and him jesus i want to come and drink
[01:15:49] I want to come and drink, satisfy the part of my soul that's missing you.
[01:15:55] I want you.
[01:15:58] I want relationship with you.
[01:16:00] I believe what you did on this earth when you died on the cross and came back from the dead meant something for me.
[01:16:07] So send your spirit to wake me up to a brand new way of living.
[01:16:12] If you prayed that, would you just make sure you fill out that response card on the seat back in front of you?
[01:16:18] Put a check mark on the box that says, I pray to receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord, just like two people did last week.
[01:16:24] You're not going to be alone.
[01:16:26] Fill that out.
[01:16:26] Take that to the Connect booth.
[01:16:28] It's the black booth right in the middle of the lobby.
[01:16:31] And they have a book about what you do now that you started this journey with Jesus, because the first thing you need to do
[01:16:36] is tell somebody so they can celebrate with you it's amazing thing you've come you were thirsty and now you're gonna be satisfied I'm so excited for you but for those of you that are believers in the house Jesus is saying all of us don't be satisfied and easily pleased don't let distractions don't let disturbances don't delude yourself
[01:17:07] Do you want anything to keep you from dining?
[01:17:09] Come and dine.
[01:17:13] Would you just tell him, Jesus, I'm sorry for ignoring your knock?
[01:17:24] This week, I want to do more than just a little snack pack with you.
[01:17:28] I want to feast.
[01:17:31] I want to spend time in your presence, where real life is.
[01:17:38] I don't want to have one foot in, one foot out.
[01:17:40] I want to be all in.
[01:17:41] I want to dine.
[01:17:44] I want you to be the chief shaper of my mind, of my thoughts, of my attitude, of my day.
[01:17:50] I want to spend time in your Word.
[01:17:53] I want to spend time in your presence.
[01:17:55] I want to spend time in prayer.
[01:17:56] I want to spend time worshiping you.
[01:17:59] I want to spend time listening to you.
[01:18:01] I want to spend time serving you.
[01:18:04] I just want to dine.
[01:18:05] Come and dine.
[01:18:08] Would you just tell them that?
[01:18:16] Father, I thank you for who you are and I thank you for these invitations from Jesus.
[01:18:21] Help us take them and walk in real, genuine life that makes a difference in our lives and in the lives of every person we meet.
[01:18:33] In the name of Jesus and all God's people said,
[01:18:36] Amen.
[01:18:36] Amen.
[01:18:37] I'm going to invite our Elder of the Week, Daniel Ochoa, to come and say a prayer of us.
[01:18:41] Would you stand?
[01:18:42] If you need anything this week, he would love to be there for you.
[01:18:45] You can contact the Elder of the Week by going to our Church Center app or you can go online cccmooresville.com and Daniel is going to pray for us.
[01:18:54] Daniel, you can pray in English or in your mother tongue in Spanish too.
[01:18:59] Whatever you'd like to do, pray a prayer of blessing over us.
[01:19:02] But Daniel will also be at the fireplace if you would like some individual prayer at the end of the service, all right?
[01:19:08] And so let's celebrate the Lord together.

[01:19:12] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]:
Yes, Lord.
[01:19:12] Can I share something real quick?
[01:19:17] I was driving back home on Friday and I was just like looking at the road and stuff and then right before I was passing through there was a tree that was coming down and then it came right in front of me and thank God I saw it whenever it was coming down so I was able to break and stuff and then like the whole road was like blocked because of that and we stopped and cleared it out and stuff but
[01:19:42] I was going through the motions you know like whenever you're going into your Christian life you say like yeah the Lord is with me and stuff but there is things that remind you that God is with you and he's faithful in everything that you do and every time that you are there so
[01:19:58] Looking at that and seeing that happening to me, I was like, Lord, I know that you are still with me.
[01:20:06] And then I'm still in your hand and you are faithful.
[01:20:09] It doesn't matter where you are.
[01:20:10] So it doesn't matter what you're going through.
[01:20:13] Just remember that the Lord is right beside you and he is with you.
[01:20:16] So just keep going because he is with you.
[01:20:19] All right.
[01:20:20] Let's pray real quick.
[01:20:22] Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this time.
[01:20:24] Thank you for everything that you do, Lord.
[01:20:26] Thank you for the blessings that you have given us.
[01:20:29] And let us be sensitive to your voice to only put our eyes on you, creator of everything and savior of us.
[01:20:39] Let us be strong during the hardships of our day and our week and the challenges of these days.
[01:20:46] Holy Spirit, guide us and remind us the life that has bought
[01:20:50] By Christ Lord, by Christ's blood and Holy Spirit be with us in every time and every season.
[01:21:16] In Jesus name we pray, Lord.
[01:21:32] Amen.
[01:21:34] Amen.
[01:21:36] Have a great day.
