[00:21:37] It's God rebuilding His work through not just one person, but through many faithful hands.
[00:21:44] Every family, every leader, every worker had a section of the wall, and together God used it all.
[00:21:52] And I'm deeply thankful for the leaders that we have here at Peninsula.
[00:21:57] They're part of my responsibility is to encourage and equip those leaders.
[00:22:03] And that's why today I've asked Austin Gardner, our local missions coordinator, to bring the message.
[00:22:09] Now I know that when you hear the long list of names that he's going to read through in just a few moments, you're going to think to yourself, oh, that's why Pastor Daniel passed the buck.

[00:22:22] but really what Nehemiah is showing us here that everyone was stepping up and I wanted to give Austin an opportunity to do that so this isn't me stepping away from having to say names although again that is a bonus it's actually me leading when we share ministry and broaden experience for other people the body grows stronger and the mission moves forward and today is a reminder

Well, good morning, church.
[00:23:19] It is great to have you in worship with us this morning, albeit virtually.
[00:23:24] We hope you and your family are safe and warm this morning, and we're excited to be back in person worshiping with you next week.
[00:23:31] If we haven't had the opportunity to meet, my name is Austin Gardner, and I am the Missions and Outreach Coordinator here at Peninsula Baptist Church.
[00:23:38] In layman's terms, that just means that most things revolving around local missions, that falls into my bucket.
[00:23:45] That can range anywhere from building and maintaining relationships with our local mission partners to making sure we have plenty of opportunities to serve locally as we impact our community for Christ.
[00:23:57] But obviously this morning I am serving in a bit of a different capacity.
[00:24:00] I just want to thank Pastor Daniel and our entire pastoral staff for asking and allowing me to have an opportunity to preach this morning.
[00:24:08] It's always a blessing to teach God's Word and learn more about Him together.
[00:24:12] And that's what we're going to do this morning.
[00:24:14] So excited for that opportunity and excited to see what God has for us this morning.
[00:24:21] If you've been with us the past few weeks you know we have been in the book of Nehemiah and this morning we'll be in Nehemiah chapter 3 if you want to go ahead and turn your Bibles there.
[00:24:29] And one of the things that Pastor Daniel has encouraged us to do throughout this series is to read Nehemiah in light of chapter 1 because Nehemiah has a deep burden for the people of Jerusalem and it informs us about the rebuilding project that is set to take place.
[00:24:48] Nehemiah and his story begin with a question.
[00:24:52] In Nehemiah chapter one, Nehemiah asks, how is Jerusalem doing?
[00:24:57] He's a political official, he is a cupbearer to the king, and he wants to know, hey, how is the city, but more importantly, how are the people?
[00:25:06] And unfortunately for Nehemiah, he gets his answer.
[00:25:10] In Nehemiah chapter 1 verses 2 and 3, This crushes Nehemiah.
[00:25:33] So much so that Nehemiah grieves for days.

Yep so that's on Friday the 6th and then the next week after that Tuesday on February 10th at 6 30 p.m we kick off our new Bible study for the spring semester is we're going to be going through the book of Joshua and a reminder for that there's a group for men and a women's group as well kind of at the same time at different spaces it's a 10-week study it's a great opportunity for you get to study kind of dive into the book of Joshua
[00:02:20] Everyone's welcome for that we do have child care but again need to register online for that and that child care does go through fifth grade but if you're in sixth grade what would you say what should they do if you are a sixth grader above we would encourage you to participate in the Bible study that means going in there attending and and being a part of what's going on so

[00:03:06] and both of those you can apply for those online now that forum is on there but if you have questions about what does that look like what does it mean to be a part of one of these teams how do i get involved we would love for you to join us sunday february 8th at 8 45. uh you'll be done about 9 15 to plenty of time for worship or to go serve or connect group but as well if you have any questions we'd be glad to talk to you about that we are so thankful for these teams and we're thankful for you and taking time of your week in your year to go serve and be a part of god's work around the world

Yeah, those trips are awesome and I highly encourage anyone who's never been on an international mission trip before to go ahead and sign up and do one this year because it'll change your life.
[00:03:46] Speaking of camps and mission trips and all that stuff, our Youth Summer Camp Information Registration, unfortunately we couldn't do it today because
[00:03:56] So we had to push it out to February the 15th at 3 30 so please put that on your calendars because it's a big deal to be able to get there and register because space is limited for this it's going to fill up quickly and so you're going to want to be at the like whatever you got to do to be there so that you can get your your student registered to be able to go to camp it's very important to do that it's going to be an awesome camp
[00:04:23] And it's $100 to begin that registration when you're there.
[00:04:28] It is refundable over the next week, but we highly encourage you to be able to be there and lock in your spot.

[00:21:31] It's Nehemiah chapter 3.
[00:21:33] We see something really beautiful in Nehemiah chapter 3.
[00:21:37] It's God rebuilding His work through not just one person, but through many faithful hands.
[00:21:44] Every family, every leader, every worker had a section of the wall, and together God used it all.
[00:21:52] And I'm deeply thankful for the leaders that we have here at Peninsula.
[00:21:57] They're part of my responsibility is to encourage and equip those leaders.
[00:22:03] And that's why today I've asked Austin Gardner, our local missions coordinator, to bring the message.
[00:22:09] Now I know that when you hear the long list of names that he's going to read through in just a few moments, you're going to think to yourself, oh, that's why Pastor Daniel passed the buck.

[00:22:22] but really what Nehemiah is showing us here that everyone was stepping up and I wanted to give Austin an opportunity to do that so this isn't me stepping away from having to say names although again that is a bonus it's actually me leading when we share ministry and broaden experience for other people the body grows stronger and the mission moves forward and today is a reminder
[00:22:48] that part of God's work everyone has a part and I'm grateful to serve alongside leaders who faithfully live that out like Austin Gardner I know you'll appreciate what he has to say today about Nehemiah chapter 3 I encourage you to stay all the way through to the end as we always do we will end our service today reading scripture together Austin you come now and share with us from Nehemiah 3

Well, good morning, church.
[00:23:19] It is great to have you in worship with us this morning, albeit virtually.
[00:23:24] We hope you and your family are safe and warm this morning, and we're excited to be back in person worshiping with you next week.
[00:23:31] If we haven't had the opportunity to meet, my name is Austin Gardner, and I am the Missions and Outreach Coordinator here at Peninsula Baptist Church.
[00:23:38] In layman's terms, that just means that most things revolving around local missions, that falls into my bucket.
[00:23:45] That can range anywhere from building and maintaining relationships with our local mission partners to making sure we have plenty of opportunities to serve locally as we impact our community for Christ.
[00:23:57] But obviously this morning I am serving in a bit of a different capacity.
[00:24:00] I just want to thank Pastor Daniel and our entire pastoral staff for asking and allowing me to have an opportunity to preach this morning.
[00:24:08] It's always a blessing to teach God's Word and learn more about Him together.
[00:24:12] And that's what we're going to do this morning.
[00:24:14] So excited for that opportunity and excited to see what God has for us this morning.
[00:24:21] If you've been with us the past few weeks you know we have been in the book of Nehemiah and this morning we'll be in Nehemiah chapter 3 if you want to go ahead and turn your Bibles there.
[00:24:29] And one of the things that Pastor Daniel has encouraged us to do throughout this series is to read Nehemiah in light of chapter 1 because Nehemiah has a deep burden for the people of Jerusalem and it informs us about the rebuilding project that is set to take place.
[00:24:48] Nehemiah and his story begin with a question.
[00:24:52] In Nehemiah chapter one, Nehemiah asks, how is Jerusalem doing?
[00:24:57] He's a political official, he is a cupbearer to the king, and he wants to know, hey, how is the city, but more importantly, how are the people?
[00:25:06] And unfortunately for Nehemiah, he gets his answer.
[00:25:10] In Nehemiah chapter 1 verses 2 and 3, This crushes Nehemiah.
[00:25:33] So much so that Nehemiah grieves for days.
[00:25:37] In verse 4, As soon as I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
[00:25:48] So Nehemiah asks.
[00:25:50] It causes him to grieve.
[00:25:52] It goes as far as Nehemiah confessing not only the sins of Jerusalem, but his own, the sins of his family.
[00:25:59] 5-7 And I said, O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel, your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel which we have sinned against you.
[00:26:23] Even I and my father's house have sinned.
[00:26:26] We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that you commanded your servant Moses.
[00:26:35] Nehemiah understands the weight of what has happened in Jerusalem.
[00:26:41] He has grieved for the people.
[00:26:43] He has confessed their sins.
[00:26:45] And then in Nehemiah chapter 2, we get to Nehemiah's request.
[00:26:51] In verses two through five, it says, and the king said to me, why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick?
[00:26:59] This is nothing but
