Resurrection Power: Beyond the Decision

While the sermon effectively challenges the congregation to move beyond passive religiosity and seek genuine divine power, it fundamentally compromises the Gospel message. The teaching relies on human decision-making and physical acts of commitment as the catalyst for salvation, obscuring the monergistic work of God and leading to a synergistic soteriology.

❓ What do these grades mean?
🔍 Biblical Discernment: The 7 Church Parallels
The Faithful Parallels Smyrna • Philadelphia
Teaching that parallels the churches that endure suffering with true spiritual riches (Rev 2:9) and keep the Word of Christ without denial despite having "little strength" (Rev 3:8).
The Cold Orthodox Parallel Ephesus
Teaching that upholds doctrinal precision yet parallels the loss of the "first love"—the vital, motivating power of the Gospel (Rev 2:4).
The Compromised Parallel Pergamum
Teaching that parallels churches tolerating the "doctrine of Balaam" through cultural accommodation (Rev 2:14), characterized by weak boundaries, sloppy theology, and worldly compromise.
The Corrupted & Dead Parallels Thyatira • Sardis • Laodicea
Teaching that parallels churches with active heresy, synergism, therapeutic deism, or dead orthodoxy (Rev 2:20, Rev 3:1, Rev 3:17). These represent systemic, fundamental errors that corrupt the Gospel.
Why strictly "Mark & Avoid"?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This ministry's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.

🧐 Overview

Theological Verdict & Summary

Sermon Summary: The resurrection is not merely a historical event to celebrate, but the launching pad for a life empowered by the Holy Spirit for purposeful witness.

Pastoral Analysis: While the sermon effectively challenges the congregation to move beyond passive religiosity and seek genuine divine power, it fundamentally compromises the Gospel message. The teaching relies on human decision-making and physical acts of commitment as the catalyst for salvation, obscuring the monergistic work of God and leading to a synergistic soteriology.

Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Sardis — The sermon exhibits the characteristics of the Church of Sardis, having a reputation for spiritual vitality and mission while being spiritually dead in its soteriology. By reducing salvation to a human decision and physical response (raising a hand), the teaching relies on synergistic works rather than the monergistic power of the Gospel, presenting a 'name that it is alive, but is dead' orthodoxy.

Big Idea: The resurrection is not the conclusion of the Christian story but the launching pad for empowerment, preparation, and purposeful witness through the Holy Spirit. [00:32:01 ▶️ 📄]

✝️ Christological Focus: Redemptive-Historical

"The sermon connects the resurrection to the believer's empowerment, but fails to adequately connect the cross and atonement to the necessity of grace in salvation."

    > He teaches that God's movement in a believer's life is intended to produce an assignment and purpose, not just amazement or emotional highs.
  • Resurrection and Commitment [00:39:18 ▶️ 📄]
    > The pastor argues that knowing Jesus is alive and sin is defeated makes a casual life impossible, demanding a shift from mere emotional encouragement to active commitment and surrender.
  • Preparation vs. Excitement [00:44:04 ▶️ 📄]
    > He contrasts the disciples' readiness to act with Jesus' instruction to wait, teaching that passion without preparation leads to burnout, frustration, and instability, whereas God prepares inwardly before sending outwardly.
  • Kingdom Mindset [00:47:56 ▶️ 📄]
    > The pastor explains that Jesus taught the 'things pertaining to the kingdom' for 40 days, emphasizing that believers cannot carry resurrection power with old, worldly mindsets and must adopt new priorities and ways of living.
  • Divine Power and Purity [00:53:36 ▶️ 📄]
    > He asserts that good intentions are dangerous without God's power, distinguishing between emotional excitement which starts things and transforming power which sustains them, requiring purity for power to be shown.

  • Sermon Illustration [00:33:36 ▶️ 📄]
    > The pastor recounts a recent trip to a poor county in West Virginia where there was no cell service or internet. He describes a worship service with outdated equipment (microphones from the 30s/40s) where an elderly woman with a limp sang and danced with such power that he felt the presence of God rolling down the mountains, illustrating that God's power is present even in material lack.
  • Sermon Illustration [00:36:13 ▶️ 📄]
    > He references the historical account of the disciples, noting that Jesus appeared to them multiple times, ate with them, and showed His wounds to provide 'infallible proofs' and 'insurance' for their mission, contrasting this with modern believers who may want a microphone or platform without a genuine encounter.
  • Sermon Illustration [00:45:41 ▶️ 📄]

  • Sermon Illustration [01:07:01 ▶️ 📄]

  • Sermon Illustration [01:08:40 ▶️ 📄]
    > The pastor recounts a story where he offered money to a homeless man who initially refused to look at him, feeling bound by his condition. 🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard

Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error

CategoryStatusReasoning
Gospel Presentation ❌ FAIL The Gospel Engine is compromised. The sermon reduces salvation to a human decision ('raise your hand') and physical response, failing to anchor the call to repentance in the sovereign, monergistic work of God's grace.
Soteriology ❌ FAIL The sermon teaches Synergistic Soteriology, asserting that human decision and physical action are required to receive salvation, contradicting the biblical doctrine of monergistic regeneration.
Bibliology ✅ PASS The sermon references Scripture and historical accounts, though the hermeneutical application to salvation is flawed.
Hermeneutic ⚠️ WEAK The application of the resurrection narrative to evangelism prioritizes human response over the theological implications of Christ's work.
Theology Proper ✅ PASS The sermon maintains a high view of God's power and presence, though it misapplies it to the mechanics of salvation.
Sacramentology ⚪ N/A No sacramental errors detected.
Confessional Depth ❌ SHALLOW The sermon lacks depth in explaining the theological basis of salvation, focusing instead on experiential outcomes and human effort.

⚙️ The Core Gospel Framework

What is this? This section checks if the sermon contains the essential building blocks of the Gospel. We look for explicit, substantive mentions of God's holy standard, human inability, and Christ's finished work on the cross.

Why it matters for the final verdict: A complete Gospel framework protects a sermon from becoming man-centered. If a preacher gives commands for good behavior but leaves out the grace and atonement of the Gospel, it often results in a 🔴 Critical or 🟠 Major error for Moralism (teaching human self-improvement rather than reliance on Christ). However, if these Gospel elements are missing simply because the pastor is preaching a highly focused, practical message to mature believers (e.g., instructions on biblical marriage), our system applies a "Safe Harbor" pardon, graciously reducing the omission to a 🟡 Minor error.

The Law And Wrath: Not observed in the sermon.

Total Depravity And Inability:

"i don't have the ability in me. i need a godly love to be a good husband you can't be a good wife without the power of god" [00:57:45 ▶️ 📄]

Active Obedience Of Christ: Not observed in the sermon.

The Cross And Atonement:

"the same disciple that said i don't i'm never going to deny you lord denied him but then after the resurrection he said turn my cross upside down when you kill me because i can't die like the one who rose from the dead" [00:39:42 ▶️ 📄]

⚠️ Theological Concerns

🔴 Critical Synergistic Soteriology

Root Cause: Synergism

"will you raise your hand right now say I believe there's more for my life there's purpose there's destiny there's there's there's a plan that God wants to work inside of me and through me... If you raise that hand, I want you to take an absolutely bold step of faith... come to this front and I want to pray with you and I want to ask the Lord to touch your life." [01:14:10 ▶️ 📄]

The Belief/Behavior: The pastor frames this physical act and human decision as the decisive moment for receiving salvation and divine power.

Why It's Dangerous: This reduces salvation to a human work, obscuring the truth that God alone regenerates the heart and grants faith, leading believers to trust in their own decision rather than God's grace.

Biblical Correction: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

🟡 Minor Coarse Language

Root Cause: Lack of Self-Control

"your husband may have lost your mind your ex may be going crazy your children may have act like little devils... that's stupid that's immaturity" [00:49:27 ▶️ 📄]

The Belief/Behavior: The use of pejorative and coarse language in the sermon.

Why It's Dangerous: This language can be offensive to parents and diminishes the pastoral dignity of the message.

Biblical Correction: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)

✅ Commendations

Pastoral Application | Call to Active Faith

The pastor effectively challenges the congregation to move beyond passive attendance and emotional highs, urging them to seek genuine divine power and purposeful witness.

Illustrative Power | Vivid Storytelling

The use of personal anecdotes, such as the trip to West Virginia and the interaction with the homeless man, provides relatable and emotionally resonant illustrations of spiritual emptiness and divine encounter.

[00:27:10] I want to say it was good to have Billy up here playing and Bailey up here playing today.
[00:27:18] She has sat down on the keyboard probably five or six times.
[00:27:21] And so I am so proud of her.
[00:27:23] I told her she's got more talent in her pinky toe than I have all over me.
[00:27:28] and she needs to apply that, and she's doing a great job, and I'm so proud of her.
[00:27:33] We miss Ashley, but Mama said she had to go to church with her, so we will miss her.
[00:27:38] But I want us to pray.
[00:27:39] Father, bless this offering.
[00:27:41] Use it for your glory.
[00:27:42] Meet every need that we have, and we thank you for the gift and the giver.
[00:27:45] Father, we thank you, Father, that you've blessed our life, you've taken care of us, and you've met us where we are.
[00:27:51] I pray blessings upon every person in this room.
[00:27:53] I pray that the Word of God comes alive in their heart.
[00:27:56] I pray, Father, that you use this offering to open up doors of blessings to their life.
[00:28:01] Father, Lord, we don't just give to receive, but we thank you for the promise.
[00:28:05] Father, as we do give, God, you rebuke the devourer off of our life.
[00:28:09] You remove the curse off of our life.
[00:28:11] And, Father, I thank you for everything that you've kept me from, Lord, because of your faithfulness to your word.
[00:28:17] And I just pray blessings today in the mighty name of Jesus.
[00:28:21] And everybody said amen and amen.
[00:28:23] God bless you as you give to the Lord.
[00:28:24] Amen.
[00:28:25] Give the Lord one more hand of praise that you're able to give.
[00:28:31] Amen.
[00:28:31] Grab your Bibles and turn with me to the book of Acts chapter 1 as they're receiving your offering.
[00:28:36] And I'm going to ask you to stand one more time just for the honor of God's word.
[00:28:42] I've been in a series since Easter on after the resurrection.
[00:28:46] I've never done that in my 26 years of preaching, 27 years of preaching.
[00:28:52] But I have felt led to do that.
[00:28:54] And we've gone through a lot of different places.
[00:28:57] We walk through fear, doubt, failure, restoration, and I want to share this morning on the resurrection was just the beginning in Acts chapter 1 verse 8.
[00:29:07] So now we've moved out of the Gospels, and now we're moving into the church starts being immobilized to do the ministry that He's called them to do.
[00:29:15] God did not save you for you to sit and sour and sulk.
[00:29:18] He saved you to make a difference, but there's something that has to come upon your life, power, to help you to make that difference.
[00:29:25] So scripture tells us that the former treaties that I've made with old Theophilus of all that Jesus began both to do and to teach until the day in which he was taken up and after that through the Holy Ghost
[00:29:38] had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs being seen of them forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
[00:29:57] And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, You have heard of me, for John truly baptized with water,
[00:30:13] but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
[00:30:19] And when they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
[00:30:31] And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in His own power, but you shall receive power.
[00:30:45] After that, the Holy Ghost is come upon you.
[00:30:49] And you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
[00:31:04] So I want us to pray.
[00:31:05] Father, help us to hear the word.
[00:31:07] Let it come alive in our hearts.
[00:31:09] Thank you for what you've done, what you are doing, and where you're taking us through these scriptures.
[00:31:14] I pray blessing today upon everybody that's in your house in the mighty name that we pray.
[00:31:20] And everybody said amen and amen.
[00:31:22] Praise God.
[00:31:23] You may be seated.
[00:31:24] Amen.
[00:31:24] Give the Lord a hand for the word.
[00:31:26] Amen.
[00:31:28] You know, we talked about it for weeks.
[00:31:30] I have enjoyed navigating through the stories of the disciples.
[00:31:35] One thing that I have learned is that even though monumental experiences happened in their life, does not mean that truly transformation has taken place.
[00:31:46] Just because you've been in the room and you felt the touch of God doesn't mean you're going to leave the room changed by God.
[00:31:55] So there's something that has to take place in our life, an application that is just the beginning.
[00:32:01] Now we shift from resurrection to empowerment because the resurrection was never meant to be the end of the story.
[00:32:12] You know, the empty tomb was not the period.
[00:32:15] It was not the conclusion of the story.
[00:32:17] It was actually the launching pad for the story.
[00:32:22] Hallelujah.
[00:32:23] Jesus didn't rise from the dead just so we could celebrate one Sunday a year.
[00:32:29] He rose from the dead so we could start something in us.
[00:32:33] The resurrection isn't just about Jesus getting out of the grave.
[00:32:37] It's about getting believers into purpose.
[00:32:40] It's about getting believers into power and into the plan that God has for their life.
[00:32:46] You know, after Acts chapter 1 opens up the story of the resurrection, Jesus appeared and the disciples many times, He tells them He's alive.
[00:32:56] They know He's alive. He's alive.
[00:32:58] He's teaching to them. He's preaching to them.
[00:33:01] He's preparing them, and yet before He ascends, He gives them one final instruction.
[00:33:08] You know, I have sat at the graveside of many people that have been buried.
[00:33:13] I have sat by the bedside of many that have died.
[00:33:17] And in the last final moments of the hour that comes to place, I think many people remember the words of the story.
[00:33:28] You know, a few weeks ago I had the privilege and I was able to go to West Virginia and I shared and preached and ministered into a service.
[00:33:36] And one thing that reminded me about the service was that the power of God in that little mountain community, I felt the Lord.
[00:33:45] I told them, people up there, there was no cell phone signal, there was no internet.
[00:33:51] I mean, it was the most poorest county in all of America where I was at.
[00:33:56] It was very eye-opening to see.
[00:33:59] I've seen this in Honduras, I've seen this in Mexico, I've seen this in Ecuador, but I've not seen this in America, the type of poverty that was there in that county and in that area.
[00:34:10] And I looked around and I told them there was a lot of things that there was a lot of lack and a lot of not having enough, and most people did not have the ability that we have.
[00:34:22] and you just can't go down the road to a store.
[00:34:24] It's an hour and a half away down in there.
[00:34:28] And in that place, I sat there in that service, and I listened to old men play their guitars, and I listened to singers sing songs, and I sat at a stage that had five microphones
[00:34:41] because they didn't have a sound man, and you just picked up the one according to your voice.
[00:34:45] If it was a soft-spoken one, you get a loud one.
[00:34:48] If you're a loud talker, you get a soft one.
[00:34:50] And I'm sitting there in the service and I'm listening to what's going on and the sound equipment looks like it's from the 30s or 40s and it's just not been updated and doesn't have the polish that we see in the areas of our community.
[00:35:08] But as I sat there and I listened to this little holiness woman sing with her hair wrapped up on her head and she began to walk up there with a little limp and she walked up there and kind of bent over and she started singing next thing i know i heard
[00:35:21] shouting and i seen her start dancing up and down on that stage and and i sat there and tears ran down my eyes because i looked at him i said glory is coming down the hills guys i i feel the presence
[00:35:33] of god rolling down the mountains in such a way there was nothing that the praise god about for funds and money but what showed up is in their greatest need jesus was there and i want to tell
[00:35:45] you this morning jesus is with you hallelujah that resurrection leads us to purpose number one there is proof that leads us to purpose the bible says he presented himself alive by many infallible truths jesus didn't just rise from the dead he proved that he was alive he walked with him he
[00:36:13] talked with him he ate with him this wasn't a rumor this wasn't a mythology this was resurrection reality the resurrection wasn't just a story they heard the resurrection wasn't in a savior that they encountered and yet I want you to understand something this is very important to me because
[00:36:35] Jesus understood something that if they were going to carry out the gospel to the world that they needed proof that he was alive they if they were going to carry the gospel throughout the world
[00:36:47] they needed confidence so he gave them evidence he showed them here's my hands here's my side here it is if you need to see it he gave them encounters many times he showed up to where they
[00:36:59] were at and he gave them insurance because God doesn't call you into purpose without first revealing himself to you many want to do what god's called them to do and they have yet to encounter god they think well i can do it i got i just got a part of the church i don't care how
[00:37:21] much you're part of the church your name can be on every church in the county that doesn't save you that doesn't give you the power to do it well i want a microphone i want to do something you need
[00:37:30] an encounter with god before you can induce something i want you to understand something real purpose flows from real revelation if the disciples weren't risking their lives for religion they were responding to the resurrection proof they were not doing it because some man said it
[00:37:52] they were doing it because they had been touched by god hallelujah if you've not been touched by the lord i'm gonna be honest you're gonna flake out you're gonna quit and you're gonna burn out
[00:38:06] because religion will leave you empty religion will leave you dissatisfied it'll leave you uh frustrated and yet it shows me something that you don't die for a motivational speech you don't die you die for something that you know that is real and here's what is powerful the proof wasn't meant
[00:38:33] to stop at amazement it was meant to produce an assignment God doesn't move in your life just for you to be like wow look at God God moves in your life to give you an assignment to do
[00:38:51] a purpose to do see Jesus didn't reveal himself to impress the disciples he revealed himself to send the disciples see I want you to understand something because once you know that Jesus is alive once you know that sin has been defeated once you know that death has been conquered
[00:39:18] your life can't stay casual anymore resurrection demands a response some people resurrection is and comfort but without resurrection there can be no commitment in your life the same disciple that said i don't i'm never going to deny you lord denied him but then after the resurrection he said
[00:39:42] turn my cross upside down when you kill me because i can't die like the one who rose from the dead i want you to understand something your life cannot stay casual see i see this happen all
[00:40:00] the time it's gonna preach i'm gonna be a pastor to you this morning i see people come to church they're moved by emotion but their encounter stays casual it doesn't move beyond sunday doesn't move beyond the service people want encouragement people want inspiration i need a
[00:40:22] I need a tweetable quote from the pastor.
[00:40:25] I need a moment of goosebumps in worship.
[00:40:30] But no mission.
[00:40:31] I don't want a mission, Laura.
[00:40:34] I don't want a surrender.
[00:40:39] I don't want a cross to pick up.
[00:40:42] I don't want a calling in my life because I'm already content doing what I want to do.
[00:40:49] We want inspiration, goosebumps, moments, euphoric feelings.
[00:40:52] But God does not move upon us for not just for no reason.
[00:40:59] See, it is a dangerous thing to show up in a Pentecostal church.
[00:41:07] Pentecostal churches almost make you backslide because you cannot encounter the holy God and stay the same.
[00:41:16] Now, you can sit up in some dead, dried up, plucked up by the root church, led by a frozen chosen pastor preaching to a bunch of icicles and sit in your place of complacency.
[00:41:27] But once you've punched the fire of God and the Spirit of God, you cannot stay the same.
[00:41:35] Somebody ought to praise God.
[00:41:41] I'm going to keep making people uncomfortable.
[00:41:45] Why?
[00:41:46] Because there is destiny inside of you.
[00:41:50] There is purpose inside of you.
[00:41:53] there is calling inside of you why do you think the devil is fighting you so hard to stop you, to hinder you see, then here life begins resurrection should be revelation should produce a resurrection living in our life
[00:42:13] disciples couldn't go back to ordinary life no more they've seen the resurrected Lord they left the fishing boat again Because once you have seen the risen Savior, once you have encountered the power of God,
[00:42:28] normal is no longer enough.
[00:42:34] Let that settle in.
[00:42:36] You were not saved to attend church only.
[00:42:42] You were not rescued to stay the same.
[00:42:45] You were raised into purpose and before Jesus sends you into purpose He spends time preparing you for purpose So number two, this is a hard time Because once we feel it, we want to do it
[00:43:02] Jesus prepares them before He sends them Amen See, the Bible says that Jesus spent 40 days speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
[00:43:21] Think about that.
[00:43:22] Jesus has conquered death.
[00:43:24] The grave is empty.
[00:43:26] History has changed forever.
[00:43:28] Now, believe, He ascended into heaven.
[00:43:32] But He stops and says, Okay, hold on for a minute.
[00:43:35] I've been raising the dead, preaching resurrection power.
[00:43:38] Now we're going to stop and we're going to learn a little bit.
[00:43:41] We're going to teach a little bit.
[00:43:43] see before God sends you outward somebody needs to hear this he develops you inward the disciples were ready probably to preach yeah we feel it now we've seen it I felt the power of God I gotta go do it they were probably ready to act what are you telling me to do Jesus I'm ready
[00:44:04] to do it they were probably ready to change the world but Jesus understood something that they didn't. Preparation is part of the process because excitement alone is not enough. Passion without preparation leads to burnout. Passion without preparation leads to frustration. Passion without
[00:44:42] preparation leads to instability in our life. Calling without preparation leads to collapse.
[00:44:55] Some people want platforms without process. Some people want influence without maturity.
[00:45:04] Some people want ministry without development. But God prepares before he promotes.
[00:45:12] and I didn't understand this when I was a little young preacher boy I felt like I could do it and God kept my little rear end sitting down and I didn't know why I was sitting down
[00:45:28] and God said I'm doing something in you well Lord I'm ready I feel it I got the power of God I had one of my men tell me when I was taking my test to get my credentials he said Donnie I was
[00:45:41] little preacher young boy he said Donnie you got a lot of zeal you're very idealistic and I said well that's great he said but you need maturity I was like I don't like that I'm like you need
[00:45:57] some you need some something in you you've matured till you have rotted that's stupid that's stupid that's immaturity because what I was looking at was a man that had weathered the storms has had people stab him in the back that has people walked out of him
[00:46:20] lied about him treated him most falsely I've had him stand and leave his family to stay at hospital rooms and beds and walk away from walk away from family vacations and walk out of places that he
[00:46:31] wanted to be to stand beside the people that would talk about him curse him love him to the moment but then would leave him and say he never did nothing for me and I didn't realize that that
[00:46:43] man stood there as a sage and I thought his calmness was a sign without power but what I had to learn was is sometimes God wants us to be a little bit more mature than just some kind of
[00:47:02] kid that's bouncing all off the walls right we like to bounce off boy they full of it no sometimes they fill it themselves we need when maturity comes there we step a little bit more when we
[00:47:23] walk we're a little more intentional where we put our feet we're intentional what we say because we know what we say is going to have implications beyond what we ever thought we could listen to
[00:47:35] me so God had to show me something in my little stupid life to tell me that I needed preparation inside of me and if God has taken time with me it's because he's building something that can last
[00:47:48] 40 days he taught them what did he teach them kingdom kingdom ain't the way the world operates listen to me the way you've been operating in the world is not the way the kingdom operates
[00:47:56] it is totally different the kingdom of God the problem is it's too many people from the world trying to show up in the church and think that we can run the church like they can't run the world
[00:48:06] But I'm going to tell you, the church is different than the world, baby.
[00:48:09] It is different.
[00:48:10] We are the kingdom of God.
[00:48:12] Hallelujah.
[00:48:13] There's purpose.
[00:48:14] There's spiritual understanding.
[00:48:17] So we've got to understand what?
[00:48:18] Because they were ready to carry the gospel, God prepares you privately in what he plans to do publicly.
[00:48:27] And yet some of us are frustrated.
[00:48:29] Let me preach.
[00:48:30] You're frustrated because of the season you're in.
[00:48:34] You're frustrated because it feels slow.
[00:48:38] You're frustrated because you're in a drought.
[00:48:40] We can relate to that, right?
[00:48:42] We're in a drought, but can I tell you something?
[00:48:44] It will rain again.
[00:48:46] I don't know when it will rain, but it will rain again.
[00:48:50] The lake will rise.
[00:48:52] They'll take the restrictions off.
[00:48:54] You can water your grass.
[00:48:56] The season you're in right now is not your final season.
[00:49:02] It's the reason they call it seasons.
[00:49:04] Because seasons change.
[00:49:07] Seasons don't always last.
[00:49:08] but you're frustrated because you think that your season has become your destiny but listen your your husband may have lost your mind your ex may be going crazy your children may have act like little devils but understand something don't get caught up in the season keep your eyes on Jesus
[00:49:27] because God is the God of changing all of the seasons in your life Jesus prioritized formation Notice this, that Jesus didn't teach just information.
[00:49:39] He taught kingdom.
[00:49:41] What does that mean?
[00:49:42] We need to learn the kingdom.
[00:49:43] Kingdom is new mindsets.
[00:49:45] Kingdom is new priorities.
[00:49:48] Kingdom is a new way of living.
[00:49:52] You can't carry resurrection power with old mentality.
[00:49:57] Listen, everything in the Bible is there for a reason.
[00:50:00] Jesus stayed with them 40 days, teaching them the things pertaining the kingdom.
[00:50:07] Because you can't go forward in resurrection with the way you've been living.
[00:50:14] You'll never walk into your destiny and your purpose if you live according to your mindset of your previous life.
[00:50:21] So, you know, some people want God to use them.
[00:50:26] But let me preach.
[00:50:27] But you resist correction.
[00:50:32] Pastor, correct, you jump up and leave the church and go somewhere else.
[00:50:35] Because you don't want to be corrected.
[00:50:37] You don't want your husband to be the leader.
[00:50:39] You don't want your family to be the leader.
[00:50:40] Bless God, I'm the brother.
[00:50:42] And everything's out of order in your life.
[00:50:46] You don't like correction.
[00:50:47] Well, I'm a boss in my job.
[00:50:48] Well, good.
[00:50:49] There's a different order in the kingdom.
[00:50:52] For there to be a kingdom, you've got to be a servant.
[00:50:56] Well, I won't.
[00:50:58] But we resist growth.
[00:51:00] Growth doesn't happen overnight.
[00:51:03] Nothing happens instantaneously.
[00:51:04] It takes time.
[00:51:05] You don't like the waiting.
[00:51:07] God I'm ready for you to do something about this I'm tired of waiting how many's ever said that God's teaching you something maybe maybe that that person that's been afflicted your soul God's saying it ain't so much about me getting rid of that person it's about getting rid of this
[00:51:24] mess that's inside of you that's getting upset every time that person causes issues where wait preparation feels hidden until the moment no guess what that God reveals purpose and it was necessary we were first shaped quietly in Acts chapter 1 before Pentecost came power came publicly but
[00:51:45] Jesus was preparing them privately let me move on number three point three is you don't move without power and I don't know if I talk about this enough but I feel like I need to talk about
[00:51:56] a little bit more I forget that everybody wasn't raised in the church I forget everybody didn't have a mama speaking in tongues that when they were born i forget they didn't have a dad holding
[00:52:11] the line giving them the gospel someone said uh my wife said he man oh no the i don't know what what did you say coming out the other day masters of the universe right yeah i'm like we weren't
[00:52:22] allowed to watch that as a kid she's like what i said nope that was not allowed in our home smurfs scooby-doo nope if it had any kind of witchcraft in it you can just go on and kill
[00:52:34] you heal that gone none of that's being allowed and you know what i i didn't i forget that everybody didn't wasn't raised like that i forget that that everybody didn't have parents that when you sat in a disney movie and that all of a sudden sorcery started showing up that mama picked up
[00:52:54] your little hinds and y'all walked out with your popcorn and you went on back to the car in the middle of the movie everybody wasn't raised like that i walked out and i'm like what are we doing
[00:53:05] here we took us a lot to get here we were waiting on god's will just to get here and now we leave what what is happening here did the will of god change i don't know
[00:53:17] the strange instruction because sometimes the disciples had already experienced experience they had already had power teaching testimony revelation and jesus said i need you to stay just for a few more moments because don't move yet because good intentions are dangerous without
[00:53:36] god's power so why did i say that let me tell you why i said that because kim power never moves without purity brother ray there must be purity for power to be shown i'm not talking about
[00:54:00] emotionalism i'm talking about transforming power separate from the world power life changing power see excitement can start something you know we can get excited we can start something but only power can sustain it see some people are trying to do ministry marriage parenting leadership life
[00:54:24] itself in their own strength and they wonder why they're always exhausted because the power of god is not in operating in their life you cannot carry a spiritual calling for the travis with a human ability alone it's like driving a car kevin without no gas the vehicle may look good
[00:54:53] the engine may exist but without the power it's not going anywhere and a lot of believers look like they're equipped but they're running on empty Jesus tells us to wait in the difficult moments we like movement, we like progress
[00:55:11] we like action but God says I am not wasting this season in you wait upon the Lord and you shall renew your strength God's doing something things feel delayed doors feel that they've been not open yet timing feels
[00:55:29] slow but let maybe God's doing something in this moment maybe God's got you waiting you think man he's forgot about me you're waiting because he said I am preparing you delay is not always denial
[00:55:42] sometimes delay is development hallelujah disciples could have gone immediately they could have ran out the door they seen jesus alive they knew it they had a message they had a testimony and they had passion but passion without power produces burnout talent will attract attention but the
[00:56:07] holy spirit changes lives let me say yeah let me say that again talent may attract attention but only the holy spirit can change lives you can build a church you can build a crowd without power but you cannot build andrew transformed people without power amen
[00:56:47] Jesus knew persecution was coming pressure was coming opposition was coming so before they faced the world he said get filled up before I send you because God never sends you into a battle without first equipping you for it
[00:57:05] some of you tired because you've been saying I'm tired of surrendering I've been performing without depending I've been working instead of waiting what God calls you to do will always require more than what you can do in your own strength.
[00:57:22] Did you know that?
[00:57:23] Being a parent is one of the hardest things in my life.
[00:57:25] Being a pastor is difficult.
[00:57:27] It's got its moments.
[00:57:29] Being a parent is difficult.
[00:57:31] Your kid's sick.
[00:57:32] The life changes.
[00:57:33] See things that they do.
[00:57:35] Parenting is hard.
[00:57:37] Guess what?
[00:57:38] I can't do that without God.
[00:57:41] I can't be a husband without God.
[00:57:45] I don't have the ability in me.
[00:57:47] i need a godly love to be a good husband you can't be a good wife without the power of god it takes more than sitting on a pew guys it takes walking in the spirit of god because there's going
[00:58:03] to be sometimes that your flesh is going to rise up and you're going to say holy ghost you know we know the lord wants to speak through us but the lord also wants to shut some of us up right i know
[00:58:19] we can talk in tongues but we can we talk nice to each other hallelujah i know we can we can get in here and praise god and magnify god but when we go home can we speak kindly to one another and whom
[00:58:35] we love see i want you to understand something he told them to get filled because we're when god calls you to do something he tells you to do it outside of your own strength and i'm getting ready
[00:58:47] to close don't move ahead of god and don't substitute activity for anointing don't confuse gifting with power and you know what i learned i i knew this brother ray i knew this were you from that area i think and that where i was at up there and that and what i learned and and and i
[00:59:07] know this because i have been in this but i sat up there in a room with people that maybe did not have great giftings as what the church world want to put the most polished primed beautiful specimens
[00:59:24] that they can on the stage but guess what I saw power I've been in services where I have heard gifting and I left wow they sung good but I've been in places where it wasn't nothing but a
[00:59:45] guitar, preaching through a preaching through a guitar amp, jump too hard on the floor and you're going to fall through the church where power showed up and I cried through the service I got in the car crying
[01:00:02] going down the mountain, I went to bed crying over what I felt go home the next day still feeling the power of God let me tell you, performance doesn't do that, gifting doesn't do that power does that we need the power of God again because power always has a purpose
[01:00:28] the spirit was never hear me to make you or me look impressive he comes upon us to make us effective let me move on number four I think this is where I'm closing power has a purpose and you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost has come upon you
[01:00:53] and you shall be my witnesses can I tell you what the power of God is not it is not about you showing off the power of God is not about you or me looking spiritual the power of God
[01:01:16] is not just emotional moments only power is for a purpose the Holy Spirit was not given to entertain the church it was given to empower the church Jesus says you shall be my witnesses not my spectators not my consumers but you shall be my witnesses you were filled to reach somebody
[01:01:47] That's why the Holy Ghost enables you to speak boldly.
[01:01:52] He enables you to love deeply.
[01:01:54] He enables you to serve faithfully.
[01:01:57] And He enables you to stand firmly.
[01:02:02] Amen.
[01:02:04] Resurrection power is meant to flow through you, not just to you.
[01:02:14] Let me close.
[01:02:15] Number five.
[01:02:17] It's just the beginning.
[01:02:19] this is just the beginning Acts 1 and 8 the Bible tells us that Jesus ascends but the story isn't over the resurrection wasn't the finish line it was the beginning of the church the same spirit, listen
[01:02:40] that raised up Jesus Christ is working through regular ordinary people hallelujah he's working through regular old Donnie he's working regular through you see fearful disciples now became bold preachers broken people became world changers and a small upper room
[01:03:11] became a global movement that changed and transformed the world because resurrection power changes everything The tomb is empty.
[01:03:24] Jesus is alive.
[01:03:25] And the promise of His return, He is coming.
[01:03:29] Can somebody praise the Lord?
[01:03:35] Amen.
[01:03:37] May He come help me close.
[01:03:38] Let me just say this to you this morning.
[01:03:41] I thought about this.
[01:03:43] I thought about the power of God.
[01:03:45] I thought about the purpose of Him working in our lives.
[01:03:50] God wants to fill us with power.
[01:03:52] He does.
[01:03:53] you were not saved just to sit still you were saved to carry his power into the world i believe that follow my heart i had i had a dream last night not not not last night the night before
[01:04:10] i had a dream about a lady in our church she's here this morning the lord has done some amazing things in her life she's testified i don't normally dream of people i don't normally dream
[01:04:23] too much of anything but the Lord showed me this lady and she's experienced a new fresh touch of God in her life like she's never felt and I don't know why the Lord has showed me this but he showed
[01:04:35] me this in this dream that she was going to start walking in purpose like she had never walked before walking in calling and in destiny like she had never seen before and I was saw myself sitting
[01:04:49] there looking at this person in my dream this lady and I said man God is doing something amazing through her and and it was just so awe-inspiring and I'm just going to be honest with you God
[01:05:09] does something in your life for more than just save you from hell Andrew called me this week and he said, Pastor, he said, I got a soul saved.
[01:05:23] Witnessed to a young man.
[01:05:24] The man talked about Jesus.
[01:05:26] God opened the door.
[01:05:27] Sometimes you talk to some people about Jesus, it's like beating your head against the wall.
[01:05:31] They don't want to hear anything you've got to say.
[01:05:33] They don't want to listen to it.
[01:05:34] They think you're stupid, and everything's stupid.
[01:05:38] But God opened the heart of this young man, and Andrew heard the word of the Lord and went over there and shared faith.
[01:05:45] The young man gave his heart to Jesus Christ on his job.
[01:05:50] I want to tell you something this morning.
[01:05:55] That God doesn't save you just to change you.
[01:06:00] But he saves you to flow through you.
[01:06:08] Some of y'all are being like a dam and you're hindering the flow.
[01:06:12] You got a kink in the hose and you locking it up.
[01:06:17] You need to let the Lord just use you.
[01:06:22] You just need to let God.
[01:06:23] One of my old sisters, sister, she would always tell me this.
[01:06:27] every time she would be around or she'd work at youth camps she would say I just want to be a blessing that's what she would say every time I said you are a blessing but I just want to be a
[01:06:38] blessing whatever she did she would say I just want to be a blessing Ruth I just want to be a blessing I said well you being around there's just being a blessing I just want to be a blessing
[01:06:50] can I tell you my son he even now my little boy so we went and grabbed something to eat the other day just me and him Natalie and Bailey was at the movies and me and him were just together doing
[01:07:01] some yard work cutting grass and then we went grab something to eat needed to buy some more weed killer we stopped over at Wendy's and we sat there and there's a there's a man sitting there
[01:07:08] and he was holding a sign it's probably by Walmart and and Taco Bell and Luke said what's the sign say daddy says he needs a job he needs rent money Luke said we need to go give him some money he
[01:07:23] He said, well, no.
[01:07:24] He said, what is rent?
[01:07:31] I said, rent is where you pay somebody so you can have a house to live in.
[01:07:36] He said, so he needs a house to live in.
[01:07:39] I said, or to keep his house, to keep living in.
[01:07:42] He said, we need to give him money, Daddy.
[01:07:45] I said, okay.
[01:07:46] I said, people just won't give him money.
[01:07:47] I said, we're just sitting here eating.
[01:07:48] I said, we'll give him some money.
[01:07:50] He was so fixated on that man holding that sign.
[01:07:53] We've got to give him money.
[01:07:54] I normally don't carry cash on me, but I have a place in my truck that I do have cash.
[01:07:58] and he said there's money in there daddy it's okay 100 that's what you want son this is in your heart to do because he's seen us do this in the past he's seen brother he's seen it and he
[01:08:12] has a heart for people that don't have no money don't have no food and don't have no place to stay it burdens him to think that somebody in the world would be hungry he don't understand
[01:08:22] because anytime he wants to eat he can eat but he don't understand why somebody else can't eat why they don't have a place to live.
[01:08:33] So we finished eating our food and we pulled the money out of it.
[01:08:39] So let's go.
[01:08:40] I said, you're going to give it to him?
[01:08:40] He said, no, I ain't giving it to him.
[01:08:42] I said, okay, I'll give it to him.
[01:08:45] Pulled up beside him and I looked at him.
[01:08:47] He didn't even want to look at me.
[01:08:48] You know how it is.
[01:08:49] I thought about my wife's message.
[01:08:50] Seen, didn't even want to be seen.
[01:08:52] He's just holding a sign by his infliction and not by his person.
[01:08:56] He is now bound by his condition and he doesn't feel as a person.
[01:09:02] I looked at him and I said sir He looked put his eyes up looked at me and luke's got his And I said we want to give you this to help you and I said
[01:09:16] He took it out of my hand. He kind of put his head back down. I said sir. Hold on I said I want to let you know this god loves you And god has a purpose
[01:09:26] for your life And he looked up again. He looked at me and he said Thank you so much, sir And so we I said i'm praying for you we pulled on up Luke was so impressed by that and what that shows me is that it is part of our innate
[01:09:47] human God-given ability that even those that don't know have been taught it know that if somebody has a need that we are to be a vessel that pours out to others but the reason we can't
[01:10:09] give is because most of us don't have it and we reason our churches and our brothers are hurting is because what we should be full of we are empty of because we have consumed the world and then when our brothers need something more than world they need transformative
[01:10:37] of power we need to be possessors of that in our soul so oh god let the resurrection not be the end but lord let it be the beginning of the church let it be the beginning of our purpose let it be the
[01:10:58] beginning of our destiny let us remember when we were hungry when we were naked when we were in places that no one knew, but God brought somebody our way that was full of power, that touched us and changed us and transformed us.
[01:11:17] Hallelujah.
[01:11:19] Let's stand all over this place right now in the name of Jesus Christ.
[01:11:23] This is not the end.
[01:11:26] It is just the beginning.
[01:11:29] Father, we love you today.
[01:11:32] We thank you today for the blessing and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
[01:11:40] We thank you today, God, for your goodness.
[01:11:46] And I pray blessings, Lord, upon every person in this room.
[01:11:50] Let the Holy Spirit transform them.
[01:11:55] Let them not be frustrated in their waiting, but let them know it is in their waiting that you are preparing them for something greater than they could ever imagine god is in this place i feel him already all over this room
[01:12:13] listen some of you are ready to walk in destiny and purpose you've been frustrated long enough the devil has attacked you long enough but christ's come today to let you know through his word that you are overcomers in the name of jesus christ sin doesn't have to hold you captive
[01:12:36] thoughts don't have to hold you bound but you can be free by the power of God who says pastor I want to be used by God I want to I want to I want to be full of God and the Holy Spirit in my life
[01:12:53] I want to be I want that I want that power to work inside of me so Lord I can be a blessing to this world through your spirit let me be the vehicle where you work and move in my life
[01:13:09] right now if every head bowed every eye closed i want to ask this question before i ask the next one is there anybody here in this place that says i don't know jesus but today i want to give him
[01:13:18] my life i've kind of walked away i've maybe done some stuff i shouldn't have done and i want to i want to put it all in the blood today and make sure everything's right with me and god
[01:13:27] i don't want to start anymore without going and let you know that there is hope today in jesus that there's transformation in jesus and he can give you hope and truth that's you today if every
[01:13:39] head bowed, every eye closed. Just raise that hand and say, today, that's me today, pastor. I just want to make it right with God. I just want to do what I need to do for the Lord, and I want to make sure
[01:13:46] that heaven's my home. I want to ask the next question is this. How many say, pastor, I'm ready to be used by God. I have a desire to be used by the Lord, and I want to be filled with His presence
[01:14:00] more than I've ever been filled. Maybe it's a child needing you to be filled. Maybe it's a spouse needing you to be filled maybe it's a job place a workplace that's needing you to be filled but
[01:14:10] today you say pastor I'm ready to be filled ready to be filled with what God has because I believe it's only the beginning of the story for my life will you raise your hand right now say I believe
[01:14:20] there's more for my life there's purpose there's destiny there's there's there's a plan that God wants to work inside of me and through me there's hands going up all over this place I'm ready for
[01:14:31] it. I'm ready to be used by God. I've been touched by the power of God. I've experienced the good things of the Lord. If you raise that hand, I want you to take an absolutely bold step of faith
[01:14:42] and I want you to come to this front and I want to pray with you and I want to ask the Lord to touch your life. Will you come right now with the name of Jesus as they begin to sing. I want to

[01:26:09] We learn that God is still God.
[01:26:12] And He's still working.
[01:26:14] And He's still moving.
[01:26:15] And He still sees me.

[01:26:51] You've been selling yourself too short.
[01:26:54] The devil's trying to distract you and hinder you.
[01:26:58] But God said, I've got something for you.
[01:27:02] For his glory.
[01:27:04] For thy glory, oh God. For thy glory.

[01:27:11] Don't let us just use talent.
[01:27:13] but give us power power oh god for your glory thank you father thank you father give you glory

[01:27:26] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[01:27:26] we give you glory amen church as we get ready to end this service we have to realize that

[01:28:30] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[01:28:30] jesus didn't rise from the dead simply to prove a point he rose to release a purpose see the nail prints were proof the empty tomb was proof the eyewitness was proof his resurrection power was proof
[01:29:02] and see we have to realize that the resurrection is more than a moment it's more than a moment in history it's a calling on our lives Christ got up guess what we should get up
[01:29:26] we should get up in faith we should get up in obedience we should get up in worship we should get up in purpose so this week as we go want us to walk into the purpose that God has called us
[01:29:50] into he called us to worship called us to to to purpose of worship to purpose of obedience purpose of faith purpose to be the call of god says we bow our heads on today father god we thank
[01:30:09] you oh god for the word that was spoken on today oh god god we pray oh god that we will walk in our purpose oh god that you have called us oh god god we pray oh god that we will be obedient that
[01:30:20] we will be walking faith we'll walk in love and we'll walk in worship oh god and know oh god that you're with us. You never left us or you'll never leave us. And God, we declare on today, oh God,
[01:30:35] that our giants will be defeated. Our Jericho walls will fall down and our Red Seas will open up. Let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart be acceptable in our sight. Oh Lord,
[01:30:52] our strength and our redeemer in jesus name we pray everybody say amen shake somebody hand let them know that you love them and god loves them let them know the walk in purpose this week you
[01:31:06] may be dismissed
