❓ What do these grades mean?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This ministry's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.
🧐 Overview
Theological Verdict & Summary
Sermon Summary: Discover why your spiritual life is often dictated by your emotions and circumstances, and learn how to shift your perspective to the 'higher altitude' of your authority in Christ.
Pastoral Analysis: Pastor Witherup delivers a compelling homiletic argument for living from a place of spiritual authority rather than emotional reactivity. The sermon effectively uses analogies of altitude and adult authority to illustrate the believer's standing in Christ. However, the presentation is compromised by a significant theological inconsistency: while preaching the finished work of Christ, the pastor concludes with a 'sinner's prayer' that implies salvation is secured by a human decision, creating a synergistic tension that undermines the very positional truth he preaches.
Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Pergamum — The sermon blends orthodox truth regarding positional authority with a minor worldly philosophy of decisionism. While the core message of spiritual standing is sound, the introduction of a 'sinner's prayer' as a transactional mechanism for salvation compromises the purity of the Gospel by suggesting human action secures what God alone accomplishes.
Big Idea: Christians are designed to live from a higher vantage point of positional authority and faith, rather than being controlled by physical circumstances or emotional responses. [00:05:45 ▶️ 📄]
🎨 The Visual Metaphor
The towering structure represents the believer's positional authority, secure and unshaken above the chaotic storms of emotional circumstances. Just as the stone stands firm in the clear light, faith rests on the unchanging truth of grace rather than the shifting winds of visible reality.
📖 How they Handle Scripture & Jesus
- Primary Text: Ephesians 2:1-10
- Usage Classification: Expository-Topical Hybrid
- Text-to-Talk Ratio: Moderate
- Pulpit Decorum: ⚠️ CAUTION - The use of the phrase 'blowing snot bubbles' is colloquial and slightly crude for a formal pulpit setting, though likely intended as humor. It does not rise to the level of a critical failure but warrants pastoral sensitivity.
✝️ Christological Focus: Positional Union
"The sermon connects Christ to the believer through the lens of positional authority and identity, emphasizing that the believer's standing is based on Christ's work, not their own feelings."

📌 Key Topics Addressed
-
The Three Realms of Existence
[00:06:42 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor outlines three spiritual realms: the physical world (Realm of Sight), the emotional/unseen world (Realm of Emotion/Soul), and the heavenly realms where believers are seated with Christ. -
Spiritual Warfare and Authority
[00:12:50 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor argues that the enemy operates primarily in the second realm (thoughts and feelings) and that Christians lose by fighting on that level, instead needing to fight from the higher position of authority in Christ. -
Emotional Mirroring
[00:11:52 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor describes the human tendency to mirror circumstances and the attitudes of others, categorizing people into 'San Diego' (calm), 'Seattle' (gloomy), and 'North Carolina in November' (unpredictable) dispositions. -
The Third Realm of Authority
[00:17:12 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor defines a spiritual realm above physical reality and emotion, where believers operate by faith and position rather than sight. -
Faith vs. Denial of Reality
[00:17:58 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor corrects the teaching that faith requires denying current reality, asserting instead that faith acknowledges reality but lives above it. -
Positional Change vs. Emotional Change
[00:21:23 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor argues that spiritual growth is often a change in position (status before God) rather than a change in feeling, using life milestones as analogies. -
Generosity as a Positional Act
[00:24:34 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor applies the concept of positional authority to generosity, stating that giving should come from a position of authority, not emotional impulse. -
Biblical Examples of Authority
[00:25:56 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor cites Jesus calming the storm, Elijah on Mount Carmel, David and Goliath, Stephen, and Paul and Silas as examples of operating from the realm of authority. -
Faith vs. Emotion
[00:28:41 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor instructs the congregation to stop relying on emotional sensations or feelings when worshipping or praying, teaching them to trust God at a higher level of faith. -
Positional Authority
[00:29:06 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor defines the believer's standing as 'seated with Christ in the heavenly realms,' emphasizing that their authority is based on their position in the Word of God, not their current emotional state. -
Grace and Sin
[00:30:06 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor defines grace as God acting while humans are 'dead in trespasses' and 'sin,' explicitly stating that God does not wait for people to get their lives perfect before loving them.
🖼️ Illustrations & Stories
-
Sermon Illustration
[00:00:50 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor shares a personal anecdote about taking a budget airline flight where the pilot announced a lack of air traffic controllers and instructed the plane to fly at 16,000 feet instead of the normal 30,000+ feet. The pastor describes his anxiety, praying in tongues, and trying to act as an air traffic controller, before later researching the safety and efficiency advantages of high-altitude flight to illustrate that the plane was built to fly higher. -
Sermon Illustration
[00:15:16 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor uses a hypothetical scenario of two three-year-olds arguing over a toy to illustrate that an adult must not fight on the children's emotional level, but must rise above to a position of authority to resolve the conflict effectively. -
Sermon Illustration
[00:15:16 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor uses an analogy of two three-year-olds fighting over a toy to illustrate how Christians should not fight spiritual battles at an emotional level ('lower level') but from a position of adult authority. -
Sermon Illustration
[00:23:39 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor shares a personal anecdote about coming out of a seven-to-eight-day fast, noting that he expected to feel different, but realized the change was positional, not emotional. -
Sermon Illustration
[00:22:58 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor describes the experience of graduating high school or college, where the external celebration happened but the internal feeling didn't change, yet the positional status (having a degree/license) had changed. -
Sermon Illustration
[00:28:41 ▶️ 📄]
> The pastor uses a direct address to the congregation's internal state, contrasting the common desire to 'feel' God's presence with the theological reality that God is teaching them to rely on 'position' rather than 'emotions.' He further illustrates the concept of grace by describing the human condition as being 'dead in the trespass of your sins' and living according to the 'passions of your flesh,' yet still being reached out to by God.

> To lift hands and voices to worship and sing from a spiritual realm of authority.
🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard
Overall Verdict: Compromised / Weak
| Category | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel Presentation | ❌ FAIL | The Gospel Engine is compromised by the inclusion of a transactional sinner's prayer. While the sermon emphasizes positional truth, the invitation to 'ask Jesus into my heart' introduces a human work (the prayer/decision) as the mechanism for salvation, contradicting the monergistic grace taught elsewhere in the message. |
| Soteriology | ⚠️ WEAK | The sermon presents a hybrid view: it affirms positional authority (orthodox) but relies on a decisionist prayer for initial salvation (non-orthodox/synergistic). This creates a theological dissonance where the 'how' of salvation contradicts the 'what' of the believer's status. |
| Bibliology | ✅ PASS | The sermon relies on Ephesians 2 and general biblical principles regarding spiritual warfare. The hermeneutical approach to the text is sound, though the application is heavily influenced by extra-biblical 'faith' teachings. |
| Hermeneutic | ✅ PASS | The interpretation of Ephesians 2 regarding 'position' is consistent with standard evangelical exegesis. The analogies used (altitude, adult/child) are illustrative and do not distort the text. |
| Theology Proper | ✅ PASS | The view of God as sovereign and the believer as created for a higher purpose is biblically sound. The emphasis on God's grace and sacrifice is accurate. |
| Sacramentology | ⚪ N/A | The sermon does not address the ordinances of Baptism or Communion. |
| Confessional Depth | ❌ FAIL | The sermon engages with deep theological concepts like positional sanctification and spiritual warfare, but the decisionist error at the end flattens the depth of the soteriological discussion. |
⚙️ The Gospel Engine (Confessional Distinctives)
✅ The Law And Wrath:
"were by nature children of wrath like the rest of mankind" [00:06:53 ▶️ 📄]
✅ Total Depravity And Inability:
"And you were dead in trespasses and sins" [00:06:24 ▶️ 📄]
❌ Active Obedience Of Christ: Not observed in the sermon.
✅ The Cross And Atonement:
"He died for you." [00:30:23 ▶️ 📄]
✅ Commendations
Homiletical Illustration | The Altitude Analogy
The pastor effectively uses the analogy of flying at 16,000 feet versus 30,000 feet to illustrate the concept of 'higher altitude' spiritual living. This concrete image helps the congregation visualize the abstract concept of positional truth.
Theological Clarity | Position vs. Emotion
The clear distinction drawn between 'position' (objective truth) and 'emotion' (subjective experience) is a vital pastoral tool. It provides the congregation with a stable anchor for their faith that is not swayed by changing circumstances.
Pastoral Application | Practical Authority
The application of positional authority to daily life—prayer, entering rooms, and speaking—is highly practical. It moves the theology from the head to the hands, giving believers a tangible way to live out their faith.
🛡️ Verified Orthodox Mechanics
✅ Positional Sanctification
✅ Monergistic Grace (in principle, if not in the invitation)
✅ Spiritual Warfare
⚠️ Theological Concerns
🟠 The Error of Human Self-Sufficiency (Transactional Salvation)
Root Cause: Decisionism (The Error of Human Self-Sufficiency)
"Dear Jesus, I come to the cross. and I ask forgiveness of all of my sins and I ask you Jesus to come into my heart come into my life and to help me live wide awake to the love of God and fully alive to my purpose in Jesus name" [00:31:33 ▶️ 📄]
Correction: Salvation is by grace through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). We do not 'ask Jesus in' as a ritual; we rest in the fact that He has already come and secured our salvation through His death and resurrection.

Well, go ahead and take out your copy of God's Word.
[00:00:02] We are going to be in Ephesians this morning.
[00:00:05] Just hold off, guys.
[00:00:06] Hold off on that until the end.
[00:00:08] We'll get it at the end.
[00:00:09] I want to keep my eye on it.
[00:00:11] I want to keep my eye on everything.
[00:00:13] Pray over it.
[00:00:17] Let a little more of this anointing soak into that multiplication.
[00:00:22] Ephesians chapter six, we're gonna be in, I'm sorry, four, Ephesians chapter four, or if I'm wrong on that, it's on your notes, but go ahead and get out your app and it'll be on your notes as well.
[00:00:35] So I had a meeting this week and the airline that I normally fly raised their prices or whatever.
[00:00:44] It's weird.
[00:00:45] How do algorithms in the airline industry work?
[00:00:50] Somebody explain that to me.
[00:00:52] This flight's $160.
[00:00:54] Wait an hour, it's $560.
[00:00:56] It's just that whole, I don't get it.
[00:00:58] So it's usually around a $200 flight.
[00:01:00] It was a $500 flight.
[00:01:01] I said, I don't want to pay $500.
[00:01:02] And so I went for the budget airline.
[00:01:07] That's what I did.
[00:01:07] I went for the budget airline.
[00:01:09] And sometimes you get what you pay for.
[00:01:12] And so I'm sitting there.
[00:01:13] I'm trying to keep the chickens and the goats in check there.
[00:01:16] And I get on the plane.
[00:01:19] And the pilot gets on and he said, you may know this, he said, we've got a little situation with our air traffic controllers.
[00:01:29] And he said, yeah, there's not a lot of them out there.
[00:01:33] And so what they, he said, I've never said this before.
[00:01:38] That's what you wanna hear from your pilot.
[00:01:40] I've never said this, I've never done this before.
[00:01:44] So I was listening, he said this, he said, they've actually asked us just to go up to about 16,000 feet and just fly at 16,000 feet the whole way down.
[00:01:56] And so I was thinking several thoughts during this because you normally fly at 30,000 feet.
[00:02:04] My interpretation of that was this.
[00:02:07] Hey, just get up in the air.
[00:02:09] You're on your own.
[00:02:10] Good luck.
[00:02:10] That was kind of my interpretation of what was going on.
[00:02:14] Several things happened.
[00:02:15] Number one, when we went through the clouds, when you couldn't see anything, I was never more like the Apostle Paul in all of my life, meaning that I prayed in tongues more than everybody.
[00:02:26] like I was going after Jesus in that moment and then and then second of all because I've got this OCD control freak thing going on I thought I thought well I'm gonna help out I'm by the window I'm gonna be the air traffic controller and so I'm just looking around I'm looking for airplanes I'm looking for birds I'm looking for objects I don't know what I would have done in that moment
[00:02:48] Like if an airplane's running towards me, do I just ring the call button?
[00:02:53] I couldn't have done anything, but I had all of these different things going through my head, and it was very strange.
[00:03:00] We flew at 16,000 feet the entire way down the eastern seaboard, and you're seeing things from a different vantage point.
[00:03:10] So we got to where we were going, and so I started Googling.
[00:03:15] I'm like,
[00:03:16] Surely there are advantages to because you normally fly at 30,000 or 32,000 you usually fly at a higher altitude said what are the advantages of flying at a higher altitude and and there are many let me just tell you there are many there are many advantages one is is fuel efficiency right and so the air is
[00:03:37] The higher the altitude and so there's less drag and there's less friction and so there's a greater fuel efficiency the jet engines are more efficient in that cold thinner air they burn less fuel per mile there's there's operational efficiency and so this said this said chat GPT said that there's less air traffic congestion at higher altitudes because flights are spread out vertically and
[00:04:02] They didn't tell the pilot that.
[00:04:03] They just said, you're a legion.
[00:04:05] Good luck.
[00:04:05] 8,000.
[00:04:05] 8,000.
[00:04:07] Just fly in the clouds the whole way down.
[00:04:09] Said that pilots could choose optimal routes and altitudes based on winds like jet stream to save time and fuel.
[00:04:17] And then it said more about the jet streams.
[00:04:19] It said high altitude winds called jet streams can dramatically increase ground speed, especially on those eastbound flights.
[00:04:26] And all of these reasons.
[00:04:28] And then here was the big reason.
[00:04:31] it said weather avoidance weather avoidance and it said this most turbulence storms and clouds occur in the lower part of the atmosphere which is called the troposphere and it said flying above about 30 000 feet lets planes avoid thunderstorms lightning and heavy winds making flights
[00:04:55] smoother and safer.
[00:04:58] And I was thankful that I read that after I was safely on the ground.
[00:05:04] But I thought, like, oh, there's a reason for that.
[00:05:09] This multi-million dollar machine that I am on was not built to fly at a lower altitude.
[00:05:17] It was made to fly higher.
[00:05:20] And I started thinking about that, and I started thinking about even the way that a lot of Christians live.
[00:05:26] And I want to tell you this this morning, that you were not
[00:05:30] God actually designed you to fly and to live at a higher altitude than you are currently living.
[00:05:42] I want to show you this from Scripture.
[00:05:45] I've titled this message, Come Up Here.
[00:05:49] Come up here.
[00:05:50] The title is out of Revelation chapter 4 when the Spirit called out to John the Revelator and he said come up here.
[00:05:59] I want to show you some things from a higher vantage point.
[00:06:03] I want to show you some things from a higher perspective.
[00:06:08] So come up here.
[00:06:10] Understanding your positional authority in Christ and an invitation to third
[00:06:16] Realm Living.
[00:06:17] Ephesians chapter two, just like I said before.
[00:06:21] Ephesians chapter two, verse one.
[00:06:24] And you were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked, following the course of this world.
[00:06:34] I'll talk more about this later, but I want to teach through three realms, and I want to show you these realms in Scripture.
[00:06:42] That's the first realm, the realm of the course of this world.
[00:06:47] Following, here's realm two, the prince of the power of the air.
[00:06:53] the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh carrying out the desires of the flesh and the mind and were by nature children of wrath like the rest of mankind
[00:07:09] Here's the third realm, verse four, come up higher, come up here.
[00:07:14] But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love which he has loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, first realm, made us alive together with Christ, by grace you have been saved, and raised us up with him.
[00:07:33] and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus so that in the coming age he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace and kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.
[00:07:48] You were made to fly higher.
[00:07:51] You were built to live at a higher level.
[00:07:55] Let me teach through this.
[00:07:56] Three realms.
[00:07:57] Three realms.
[00:07:59] The first realm is simply what I call the realm of sight.
[00:08:03] The Realm of Sight.
[00:08:03] We saw this in verse 2a.
[00:08:05] It's the natural world.
[00:08:07] You may hear it referred to as the first heaven, but it's just a name that means the seen world, the visible world.
[00:08:15] It's the world of the five senses.
[00:08:17] It's what you can touch.
[00:08:18] It's what you can see.
[00:08:20] It's what you can hear.
[00:08:21] It's the physical world.
[00:08:23] It's our circumstances.
[00:08:25] It's the terrain of our lives.
[00:08:28] In geography, it would be mountains and plains and desert, topography of woods and rocky, sandy trees, no trees.
[00:08:37] It's very real.
[00:08:38] It's not good or bad.
[00:08:40] It's just real.
[00:08:42] It's the physical world.
[00:08:44] It's good in the sense that God made it and God declared that it was good, but it's
[00:08:49] And so the physical reality in which we live is a world of tension and it changes our physical reality.
[00:09:05] and then is the realm of emotion and so this is the second heaven this is the unseen world or the invisible world this is the world of the soul and the spirit it's the world of the emotions and the emotions are
[00:09:21] and they're layered and they're made up of two things.
[00:09:24] So it's what you think and what you feel.
[00:09:27] That comprises soul and spirit.
[00:09:29] That comprises your emotions, what you think and what you feel.
[00:09:33] This is the atmosphere.
[00:09:35] So the atmosphere can be windy or calm, balmy, breezy, mild, rainy, scorching hot, windy, thick, thick with humidity, stormy, freezing cold.
[00:09:45] This can change seasonally, weekly, daily, and hourly.
[00:09:51] So why does an understanding of these first two realms matter?
[00:09:55] It matters because again it's where the majority of us live, Christian and non-Christian.
[00:10:01] We tend to live according to the reality of what's going on in our physical world and then our emotional response to what's going on.
[00:10:12] What I think about what's happening to me and how I feel about what's happening to me.
[00:10:17] Let me give you some examples of this.
[00:10:21] Some people have what I call a San Diego disposition.
[00:10:25] What I mean by that, it's always sunny and 72 in San Diego.
[00:10:29] This is my wife.
[00:10:30] This is Camden Withrup.
[00:10:32] It doesn't matter what is going on in the world.
[00:10:35] Camden is sunny and 72.
[00:10:37] She is calm.
[00:10:38] She is the same.
[00:10:39] These type of people are amazing people to be around.
[00:10:45] There are other people that I call not San Diego people, I call them Seattle people.
[00:10:54] It doesn't matter what's going on in any part of the country.
[00:10:57] It's going to be rainy and gloomy in Seattle.
[00:11:00] These people, they could have just won the lottery, but they're talking about the taxes that they have to pay on the $5 million that they just... Something's always wrong.
[00:11:09] It's always wrong.
[00:11:10] Somebody's always got an attitude.
[00:11:12] It's never their fault.
[00:11:14] And then there's other people.
[00:11:15] These are people that I refer to them as the North Carolina in November people.
[00:11:23] And I mean, you never know.
[00:11:25] You don't know!
[00:11:28] In the morning, they're up here.
[00:11:29] After lunch, they're down here.
[00:11:31] Is it raining?
[00:11:31] Is it snowing?
[00:11:33] Is it sunny?
[00:11:33] Is it what's going on?
[00:11:34] They're all over the map.
[00:11:37] But if we're honest, we all have a little bit of San Diego and Seattle and November in North Carolina.
[00:11:44] We all have that within us, don't we?
[00:11:47] Sunny day, sunny disposition.
[00:11:49] Stormy day, stormy disposition.
[00:11:52] Psychologists call it mirroring.
[00:11:55] We have a tendency to mirror our circumstances and the attitude of people around us.
[00:12:02] And so somebody smiles at me, I'm gonna smile back.
[00:12:05] Somebody waves at me, I'm gonna wave back.
[00:12:07] Somebody gets snappy with me, I'm gonna snap back.
[00:12:10] And most of us, most everybody, that's the way we live our lives is according to an emotional response, what we think about and feel
[00:12:21] The Bible says in Ephesians chapter 2, and you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air.
[00:12:50] The enemy's domain is this second realm.
[00:12:54] The enemy's domain is the emotional realm which is made up of our thoughts and our feelings.
[00:13:01] Let me show it to you more from scripture.
[00:13:04] In the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh carrying out the desires of the flesh and
[00:13:18] The mind.
[00:13:19] Look at this.
[00:13:19] Passions of the flesh and desires.
[00:13:22] Those are words describing our feelings.
[00:13:26] In the mind.
[00:13:27] Those are words describing our thoughts.
[00:13:30] And that is the realm in which the enemy primarily operates.
[00:13:36] Say, oh.
[00:13:38] Say, I get it now.
[00:13:40] Where does the enemy primarily attack you?
[00:13:44] In your thoughts and in your feelings, I'm not denying the difficulty of the reality of the situation that you may be walking through, but how many of you know it's not just the situation of the health problem that you're walking through, it's the fear,
[00:14:02] and the anxiety and the worry he's attacking you in your thoughts and so he'll plant thoughts that are about the situation that you're walking through and then those thoughts drain down into your emotions.
[00:14:17] Anxiety, fear, worry, all of these things are almost at an epidemic level across our world.
[00:14:26] And here's the problem, if we try to combat the enemy on his level and fight thoughts with thoughts and fight feelings with feelings, I mean we see this, the enemy is having a heyday in feelings.
[00:14:40] and he's trying to teach a generation well who do you feel that you love what gender do you feel that you are do you see how the enemy is working he's working according to how the apostle Paul is describing how he works he works as the prince of the power of the air because if the enemy can get to your thoughts he's got you if the enemy can get to your feelings he's got you and what the enemy will try to do to Christians
[00:15:05] He will try to drag you down and get you to fight at a lower level than you were built to fight at.
[00:15:14] So let me explain it like this.
[00:15:16] If you were to walk into a room and there were two three-year-olds and they were arguing over a toy, not your children, they wouldn't do that, but somebody else's kids would.
[00:15:28] And they are saying words like mine and they are saying things like I had it first and they are pushing and pulling and maybe even a little scratching.
[00:15:40] If you were to walk into that room and if you tried to fight that fight from their level
[00:15:48] And you got down on their level and you just started screaming back, mine, it's mine, I bought that toy, I had it first.
[00:15:57] And if you are fighting on their level, you've already lost.
[00:16:06] You're the adult.
[00:16:08] You have to fight that battle from a higher level, from a position of authority.
[00:16:17] If you fight that battle from an emotional level, you've already lost because you've allowed the emotions of two three-year-olds to dictate how the rest of your day is gonna go.
[00:16:30] But if you walk into the room from the position of authority, then you begin to carry yourself differently.
[00:16:39] You begin to speak differently.
[00:16:42] So I put on your notes the vast majority of people, non-Christians and Christians, live up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down, based on the terrain and the atmosphere.
[00:16:54] Their physical reality and their emotional response, thoughts and feelings to that physical reality.
[00:17:03] But what the Spirit is saying to you this morning is come up higher.
[00:17:09] There's a third realm.
[00:17:11] There's a third realm.
[00:17:12] It's called the realm of authority.
[00:17:15] The realm of authority.
[00:17:17] 2 Corinthians says this, For we walk by faith and not by sight.
[00:17:23] The Bible invites us into this realm.
[00:17:26] Verse 4, But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love in which he has loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.
[00:17:37] First of all, let me stop there and say this.
[00:17:41] Faith, because this is the realm of faith.
[00:17:45] So the realm of authority is the realm of faith.
[00:17:48] But if we're not careful, we will, because I've heard some teaching on faith that I don't agree with.
[00:17:55] And here's what some teaching on faith says.
[00:17:58] Faith says I have to deny my current reality.
[00:18:03] And so if I speak words that are describing my current reality, then those aren't words of faith.
[00:18:11] And so like you're blowing snot bubbles out of your nose.
[00:18:14] I know that's a wonderful picture.
[00:18:16] They're like, no, I don't have a cold.
[00:18:18] I'm not.
[00:18:18] No, you have a cold.
[00:18:20] It's not a lack of faith to describe reality.
[00:18:27] It's not a lack of faith to say, I'm in pain.
[00:18:31] It's not a lack of faith to say, I'm sad.
[00:18:35] It's not a lack of faith to say, I'm scared.
[00:18:38] Is this helping somebody?
[00:18:40] That is physical reality and emotional reality.
[00:18:44] But here's the thing.
[00:18:45] Faith doesn't deny reality, but it lives above reality.
[00:18:49] It calls you to a higher reality.
[00:18:52] There is a higher reality.
[00:18:54] It's the third realm.
[00:18:55] It's the realm of heaven.
[00:18:57] It's the realm where God lives.
[00:18:58] It's the realm where faith operates.
[00:19:00] It's the realm that is calling you up to live out of that realm.
[00:19:04] And so I can acknowledge the reality of my circumstances and my natural emotions to it, but I don't have to live there.
[00:19:13] I can live above it.
[00:19:15] I can call myself above it.
[00:19:18] Why?
[00:19:18] Because that's where God calls me.
[00:19:20] Look at this.
[00:19:21] Even when we were dead in our trespasses, the Spirit made us alive together with Christ by grace.
[00:19:29] Everybody say grace.
[00:19:31] Because this is going to help you too.
[00:19:32] By grace you have been saved.
[00:19:37] Does anybody want to have a theological argument this morning that you were saved by any other method than grace?
[00:19:45] Are we good on that?
[00:19:46] Not by works, by grace.
[00:19:52] Okay, can I keep reading this scripture then?
[00:19:55] You have been saved by grace and raised up with Christ and seated with Christ in the heavenly realms.
[00:20:05] How are you seated with Christ in the heavenly realms?
[00:20:08] By grace.
[00:20:10] Grace.
[00:20:10] That's what the Bible says because here's how the devil will argue with you.
[00:20:15] He will argue with your thoughts and your feelings and he'll try to get you to feel like you're not spiritual enough to operate in the third realm, the realm of authority, but you have to
[00:20:27] Tell the devil that I'm not operating by my thoughts.
[00:20:31] I'm not operating by my feelings.
[00:20:33] I'm operating by the Word of God.
[00:20:35] And the Word of God says the same grace that saved me is the same grace that seated me with Christ in the heavenly realms.
[00:20:44] And so you are operating from a position of authority by grace.
[00:20:51] Jesus is there Ephesians 1 20 Isaiah and Ezekiel visited there Paul was caught up there John was invited there and we can live there this is the third heaven this is the dwelling place of God this is the realm of faith this is the realm of power and this is the realm of authority and here's the word that you gotta get here's the key to this teaching here's the key to this whole teaching is position say position
[00:21:20] So how do you operate in the third realm?
[00:21:23] You operate in this third realm not by emotion, but by position.
[00:21:32] And there is a huge difference in that.
[00:21:35] So watch this.
[00:21:37] The enemy will try to get you to think that in order to operate in the realm of authority, you've gotta feel it.
[00:21:47] That's not true.
[00:21:48] Because it's not an emotional realm, it's a positional realm.
[00:21:53] In fact, let me explain it like this.
[00:21:56] Some of the greatest changes in your life are positional changes, not emotional changes.
[00:22:06] So let me explain this.
[00:22:08] Think of positional, major positional shifts that you've gone through in your life.
[00:22:14] When you turn 16.
[00:22:16] Positionally, now you had a driver's license.
[00:22:19] You were able to operate an automobile.
[00:22:22] Think of when you graduated, when you graduated high school or when you graduated college.
[00:22:28] Positionally, you were at a different position.
[00:22:31] You had a degree that hopefully opened up more opportunities for you in other spheres and other realms.
[00:22:38] Think about when you stood before the Lord and friends and family and you changed
[00:22:43] Positions from single to married.
[00:22:47] That was a covenant based on your position.
[00:22:51] Significant positional changes in your life, right?
[00:22:56] Now like, let's go back to graduation.
[00:22:58] Because you walked across the stage and everybody cheered and you threw your hat and then you walked out and the next morning some adult walked up to you and they said, well, they said, how's it feel?
[00:23:13] and you were caught off guard.
[00:23:15] Because if you were honest, it didn't feel any different.
[00:23:21] But your position changed.
[00:23:27] The Lord is elevating some of you into a position of authority and you're not gonna feel any different.
[00:23:35] Because it's not an emotional change, it's a positional change.
[00:23:39] This happened to me when I came out of the fast.
[00:23:42] When I came out of the fast this is how this is God was teaching me this through the fast and I was thankful that he started teaching me this during the fast and he got me ready for the end of the fast because if I would have expected in the word of the Lord seven to eight and seven days of prayer and fasting is going to unlock a new era of of ministry for Multiply Church or think of even what Pastor
[00:24:07] Steve said this morning that word that he shared I believe was was right on that some of your your generosity that act of generosity is setting it's not a it's not a moment it's a monument and it's setting forth generational blessing for 50 years of your family but if you misunderstood that and if you walked forward and put your offering your miracle offering in the basket and walk back to the seat and you're like oh I thought that would feel different
[00:24:34] maybe it didn't feel different at all because watch this generosity is not an emotional shift it's a positional shift and i don't give according to the first heaven my physical reality because if i give according to my physical reality then i'll never operate in generosity i don't give according to my emotion if i'm feeling it in the moment
[00:25:00] No, I'm elevating and I'm operating out of a position of authority.
[00:25:04] My generosity always comes out of a position of authority and you may not feel it.
[00:25:09] The most significant spiritual changes in your life, you may actually not feel emotion attached to that.
[00:25:16] Nod your head at me if this is making a little bit of sense.
[00:25:20] This matters because it'll change the way you carry yourself.
[00:25:26] You won't carry yourself according to the realm of sight.
[00:25:31] You won't carry yourself according to the realm of the emotion around you.
[00:25:35] You will carry yourself according to the realm of authority.
[00:25:39] Your words won't be words that just describe what you see.
[00:25:43] They will describe or describe what you feel.
[00:25:47] They will describe the power of the Word of God.
[00:25:50] You're elevating yourself according to the realm of authority.
[00:25:53] We see this all throughout Scripture.
[00:25:56] Jesus calming the storm.
[00:25:57] So the realm of sight was a violent storm.
[00:26:01] The realm of emotion is that the disciples were panicking.
[00:26:05] But the realm of authority, Jesus stands in the middle of the storm, but he speaks to the storm from a higher realm.
[00:26:14] And he rebukes the wind and the waves.
[00:26:17] Elijah on Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18, the realm of sight was drought and famine.
[00:26:23] The realm of emotion was fear, unbelief,
[00:26:27] even demonic intimidation from Baal but Elijah didn't operate according to those realms he operated according to the realm of authority Elijah stands and he calls down fire from heaven and rebuilds the altar David and Goliath in 1st Samuel 17 the realm of sight was a battlefield the realm of emotion the whole army was paralyzed
[00:26:50] with Fear.
[00:26:51] But David didn't live according to those realms.
[00:26:53] He lived according to the realm of authority and spoke out of the realm of authority.
[00:26:59] You come at me with sword and spear, but I come at you in the name of the Lord my God.
[00:27:05] Even Stephen,
[00:27:06] When he was being persecuted and stoned, operated at a higher realm, the realm of sight.
[00:27:12] There was a hostile crowd.
[00:27:14] The realm of emotion was a realm of rage and accusation.
[00:27:19] But even in the middle of his death, Stephen was able to operate out of the realm of authority and said, I see the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.
[00:27:31] Paul and Silas in prison stand all across this room.
[00:27:35] the realm of sight there was prison chains the realm of emotion it was dark it was miserable it was unjust but in that realm of sight in that realm of emotion Paul and Silas sang a song out of the realm of authority
[00:27:54] and it was their position of authority.
[00:27:58] And the Spirit is calling you higher this morning.
[00:28:01] He's calling you up.
[00:28:02] He's calling your emotions up.
[00:28:04] You're going to begin to live above circumstances.
[00:28:07] You're going to begin to live above emotion.
[00:28:10] You are going to begin to live in a different realm.
[00:28:14] Come on, would you just begin to lift a hand?
[00:28:17] Would you just begin to lift your voice?
[00:28:19] Let's sing this morning out of a different realm.
[00:28:22] Let's speak out of a different realm.
[00:28:25] Let's worship out of a different realm in the name of Jesus this morning.
[00:28:30] Would you just lift your hand?
[00:28:32] I want to bless you according to the Word of God.
[00:28:37] You may not feel a thing.
[00:28:41] Because God is teaching you not to rely on emotions.
[00:28:47] He's teaching you not to rely on feelings.
[00:28:51] He's teaching you to trust Him at a higher level.
[00:28:57] He's teaching you the realm of faith.
[00:28:59] He's teaching you the realm of authority.
[00:29:02] This is not based on emotion.
[00:29:04] It's based on position.
[00:29:06] And our position is based on the Word of God.
[00:29:09] And the Word of God says, by grace,
[00:29:12] I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realms and so I bless you with positional authority right now I bless you that when you pray you pray out of a position of authority I bless you that when you walk into rooms you walk in the position of authority I bless you to speak not according to your thoughts and feelings but you speak out of a position of authority I bless you to operate in a different
[00:29:42] I bless your generosity to operate in a different realm I bless the way you carry yourself to operate in a different realm the realm of authority with heads still bowed and eyes still closed the beginning of that passage says this while you were while you were still dead in the trespass of your sins
[00:30:06] God did all of this for you.
[00:30:09] That's what grace is.
[00:30:10] Grace is God didn't wait for you to get it all together.
[00:30:13] God didn't wait for you to get your life perfect.
[00:30:16] Grace is in the middle of your trespasses, in the middle of your sin.
[00:30:23] He died for you.
[00:30:24] He loves you.
[00:30:24] He's reaching out to you.
[00:30:26] Somebody this morning, you feel dead because you are dead.
[00:30:30] You're living your life according to the passions of your flesh.
[00:30:33] You're living your life
[00:30:34] According to what you think, according to what you feel, and God wants to give you His grace this morning.
[00:30:40] This morning, if you want to make Jesus your Lord and Savior, if you want Him to call you up out of your trespasses, call you up out of your sin, and to lift you up into a realm of grace, into a realm of righteousness, into a realm of forgiveness, into a realm of second chances with heads bowed and eyes are closed, I'm just going to count to three.
[00:31:00] And if that's you this morning, I want you to lift your hand by faith and say, I want to give my life to Jesus.
[00:31:09] Pastor, I'm dead in my trespasses too this morning.
[00:31:13] Pastor, I want to be made alive in Christ.
[00:31:16] Three, if that's you, would you just lift your hand all across this auditorium?
[00:31:20] You can put your hand down.
[00:31:23] Church family, let's open our eyes.
[00:31:25] Let's all pray this prayer out loud together and join our faith with those who are going from death to life today.
[00:31:32] Come on, let's pray together.
[00:31:33] Say, Dear Jesus, say, I come to the cross.
[00:31:37] and I ask forgiveness of all of my sins and I ask you Jesus to come into my heart come into my life and to help me live wide awake to the love of God and fully alive to my purpose in Jesus name and all the third round people said amen amen come on can we thank the Lord for his grace and mercy in our lives today
