🧐 Overview
Theological Verdict & Summary
Sermon Summary: A powerful call to recognize our desperate need for a Savior, using the narrative of Noah to illustrate that redemption is for real, flawed people who walk with God.
Pastoral Analysis: The sermon effectively contrasts the cultural sanitization of biblical narratives with the terrifying reality of God's wrath, creating a strong need for grace. However, the message is critically compromised by a synergistic soteriology that equates a physical decision (raising a hand) with the transactional receipt of salvation, undermining the biblical doctrine of monergistic grace.
Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Sardis — The sermon presents a 'name that it is alive, but is dead' orthodoxy. While it maintains a veneer of biblical language, it fundamentally undermines the Gospel by teaching that salvation is contingent upon a human transactional act (raising a hand) rather than the monergistic work of God's grace. This synergistic error reduces the Gospel to a decisional mechanism, resulting in a dead, works-based theology.
Big Idea: Redemption is for real people who, like Noah, recognize their need for a savior, remain true to God's image, and walk with God through faith and obedience. [00:59:30 ▶️ 📄]
📖 How they Handle Scripture & Jesus
- Primary Text: Hebrews 11:6-7
- Usage Classification: Thematic
- Text-to-Talk Ratio: Moderate
- Pulpit Decorum: ⚠️ CAUTION - The use of pejorative language such as 'synagogue of Satan' and 'ridiculous notion' towards opposing theological views (e.g., replacement theology) borders on uncharitable, though it is framed within a strong doctrinal defense.
✝️ Christological Focus: Redemptive-Historical
"The sermon successfully connects Noah's ark to Christ as the only means of salvation, though it fails to explain the theological mechanism of how Christ's work is applied to the believer."

And today we remember not only our Redeemer, but we remember our soon coming King. The Bible says as they were eating, he took the bread and he blessed it and he broke it and he gave it to the disciples and he said, take it and eat it for this is my body. Can we take the symbol of the Lord's broken body? And then he took the cup and when he had given it to them, he said, drink from it all of you. Can we take the symbol of the Lord's shed blood? He said, but this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for the many and the remission of sins."

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard
Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error
| Category | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel Presentation | ❌ FAIL | The Gospel Engine is compromised. The pastor frames the physical act of raising a hand and walking to the altar as the transactional mechanism for receiving salvation, replacing the biblical truth of salvation by grace through faith alone with a decisional regeneration model. |
| Soteriology | ❌ FAIL | The sermon teaches Synergistic Soteriology, asserting that human action (raising a hand) is the decisive factor in receiving salvation, directly contradicting the doctrine of Monergism. |
| Bibliology | ✅ PASS | The sermon upholds the authority of Scripture and correctly identifies the Genesis narrative as foundational to the Gospel. |
| Hermeneutic | ✅ PASS | The hermeneutic correctly links the Old Testament narrative of Noah to the New Testament reality of Christ, though the application of salvation mechanics is flawed. |
| Theology Proper | ✅ PASS | The sermon maintains a robust view of God's sovereignty, wrath, and holiness, correctly identifying God as the Creator and Judge. |
| Sacramentology | ⚪ N/A | No sacramental errors detected; no specific sacramental rites were analyzed for validity. |
| Confessional Depth | ❌ SHALLOW | The sermon relies heavily on emotional appeals and decisional mechanics rather than deep theological exposition of the atonement or the nature of faith. |
⚙️ The Core Gospel Framework
Why it matters for the final verdict: A complete Gospel framework protects a sermon from becoming man-centered. If a preacher gives commands for good behavior but leaves out the grace and atonement of the Gospel, it often results in a 🔴 Critical or 🟠 Major error for Moralism (teaching human self-improvement rather than reliance on Christ). However, if these Gospel elements are missing simply because the pastor is preaching a highly focused, practical message to mature believers (e.g., instructions on biblical marriage), our system applies a "Safe Harbor" pardon, graciously reducing the omission to a 🟡 Minor error.
✅ The Law And Wrath:
"God, who is a righteous judge, is going to unleash his wrath on all unrighteousness and all wickedness." [01:04:32 ▶️ 📄]
✅ Total Depravity And Inability:
"God saw the wickedness of their hearts and that their intent was only toward evil. And the Lord was sorry that he made man and it grieved his heart." [00:57:50 ▶️ 📄]
✅ Active Obedience Of Christ:
"God sent forth his only son who was born under the law to redeem those who were in the law that we might receive the adoptions as son." [01:21:42 ▶️ 📄]
✅ The Cross And Atonement:
"by putting our faith in your son Jesus Christ who is the ark of our salvation we can find redemption in a world that is facing judgment" [00:59:00 ▶️ 📄]
⚠️ Theological Concerns
🔴 Critical Synergistic Soteriology (Decisional Regeneration)
Root Cause: Decisionism / Arminian Synergism
"I'm willing to raise my hand to receive my savior because I know just like Noah did I need him and salvation is for real people" [01:31:26 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: The pastor frames this physical act of raising a hand and walking to the altar as the transactional mechanism for receiving salvation and becoming a child of God.
Why It's Dangerous: This teaches that salvation is a cooperative work between God and man, where human action completes the transaction, thereby robbing God of His sole glory in salvation and leaving the believer uncertain of their standing based on their own performance.
Biblical Correction: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
✅ Commendations
Theological Correction | Restoring the Terror of God's Wrath
The pastor effectively dismantles the 'cute, cuddly' Sunday school version of Noah, correctly asserting that one cannot appreciate the magnitude of grace without understanding the severity of divine judgment and the reality of sin.
Pastoral Application | Affirming Human Dignity and Divine Design
The sermon provides a strong affirmation of human uniqueness against cultural relativism, encouraging believers to recognize their specific design to glorify God.

[00:36:17] At Cornerstone, we believe reaching the next generation, and it happens every single Sunday through the ministries God has entrusted to us.
[00:36:26] Take a look at some of the incredible ministries helping kids know Jesus, grow in their faith, and discover they belong here.
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_03]
[00:36:34] Hey, Cornerstone family.
[00:36:36] I'm Peggy, and I serve here in the ark.
[00:36:39] We minister to children from eight weeks old through kindergarten in a safe, loving, and fun environment where they begin learning about Jesus through worship, play, and Bible teachings designed just for them.
[00:36:53] Our team loves helping every child feel welcomed and excited to come to church.
[00:36:58] Now let's head over to Abby to hear about our children's ministry.
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:37:02] Thanks, Peggy.
[00:37:03] Hey everyone, I'm Abby, and I help lead our first through third grade ministry.
[00:37:08] Every Sunday, kids experience worship, interactive Bible lessons, games, and small groups designed for their age group.
[00:37:15] Our goal is to help kids grow in their faith, build friendships, and love being in God's house.
[00:37:20] Now let's hear from Adonica about our fourth through sixth grade ministry.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:37:24] Thanks, Abby.
[00:37:25] I'm Adonica, and I help lead our fourth through sixth grade ministry.
[00:37:30] These preteen years are so important, and we love helping students build a real, personal relationship with Jesus.
[00:37:38] We help build their faith through worship, biblical teaching, and meaningful connection every week.
[00:37:44] We want every student to know they belong and that God has a plan and a purpose for their lives.
[00:37:50] Now, here's Justi to tell you about our special needs ministry.
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[00:37:55] Thanks, Adonica.
[00:37:56] I'm Justi and I serve in our special needs ministry for all ages here at Cornerstone.
[00:38:01] Our heart is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where every individual and every family feels seen, valued, and loved, No matter what your child's needs are, there's a place for your family here at Cornerstone.
[00:38:14] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:38:14] Because of your faithfulness, we're able to reach the next generation, minister to families, and share the gospel both here, at home, and around the world.
[00:38:26] Thank you for helping us continue to build this next generation.
[00:38:29] We love you, Cornerstone.
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[00:38:40] Amen.
[00:38:41] It's gonna be an exciting week on this campus.
[00:38:43] Vacation Bible School starts on Tuesday morning, and I encourage those of you who are here and those of you who are watching to be praying about those three days because we believe that God is going to touch the lives of some young people
[00:38:54] and change them forever. And we're so looking forward to having the chance to minister to them.
[00:38:58] This summer at Cornerstone is going to start in a very active month of June. Not only do we have Vacation Bible School that starts this week, but on June the 21st, we're going to be celebrating
[00:39:12] Father's Day here at Cornerstone. We've got a number of things for dad to participate in each and every year backed by mostly popular demand and then some not popular, but we are going to have the all men's volunteer choir. If you've never seen it before, it is a sight to
[00:39:32] behold. And I encourage you to come and be a part of that special service. Also, we've got a number of summer camps that are going to be taking place. Our special needs day camp is going to be this
[00:39:43] month along with 7th to 9th grade camp at Tarpley, 4th to 6th grade camp in July, and 10th to 12th grade camp. And the last thing that we're going to do this month is on June the 28th, we are going
[00:39:54] to be celebrating our 4th of July celebration. And people say, well, that's in June. It is the Sunday before the 4th. And what I know about many of God's children is if they come to church on
[00:40:06] Sunday, they don't like coming back any other day of the week. So we're going to celebrate on June the 28th Matthew West is going to be our special guest in concert that night and there's going to
[00:40:17] be a fantastic firework display it's going to be a lot of fun and fellowship so I encourage you to mark that date down and begin your 4th of July week celebrating with us here at Cornerstone
[00:40:29] dad speaking of celebrations this year the United States is going to celebrate 250 years and without question, it is simply the grace of God that has given us the ability to endure as long as we have as one nation.
[00:40:54] However, many times as one generation leads to the next, we seem to forget some very important days and yesterday was a very important day in our nation's history.
[00:41:06] Yesterday was June the 6th, which is the memorial of D-Day.
[00:41:10] You were a child during D-Day, and you well remember that event.
[00:41:16] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]
[00:41:16] I was five years old, attending a Bible conference in Waxahachie, Texas, with my mother and father, when in the middle of the night, someone pounded on the door, get up, get up, and go to the gymnasium for prayer.
[00:41:35] The invasion has begun.
[00:41:39] My mother snatched me out of bed like I was a sack of salt and started throwing clothes on me.
[00:41:46] My mother never got excited about anything.
[00:41:50] But brother, when she was flying into action that day, I knew this was B-I-G big.
[00:41:56] So we ran across the campus to the gymnasium where hundreds of God's children were knelt on the floor and started praying for our forces there.
[00:42:12] That prayer meeting lasted until noon when word came that the invasion had been a success and the sacrifice of our soldiers on that battlefield should never be forgotten.
[00:42:27] When I was in France the last time, I walked across that beach.
[00:42:32] I left the beach and walked across that cemetery.
[00:42:36] literally as far as you can see, white crosses, row after row after row. And I walked down and looked at their names and their birth dates. 90% of them were 18, 19, 20 years of age,
[00:42:57] young men who had everything to look for when this battle was over, marriage, children, a long life. They laid it down that we may have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
[00:43:13] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[00:43:13] in the United States of America. Amen. There are certain things that are worth remembering and it's important that you tell your children and your grandchildren of those things because you can't depend on an education system. You can't depend on others. You have to have a living
[00:43:52] history and be willing to hear and listen and share that history when it's the moment that needs to be memorialized. And certainly D-Day is one of those days. The way that we accomplish the mission of this ministry is by the receiving of tithes and offerings. And this morning, I'm going
[00:44:09] to ask our ushers to come and help us participate in worshiping the Lord with giving. Those of you who are watching this morning, there are 49 states that are watching. Vermont, you're missing.
[00:44:19] however there is a second service and 73 nations that are joining us if you'd like to participate in this offering you can do the same simply go to sacornerstone.org slash give text the word give
[00:44:34] G-I-V-E to 210-880-2300 call us at 855-694-9653 or write to P.O. Box 34930 San Antonio, Texas 78265 Pastor, would you pray over today's offering?
[00:44:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]
[00:44:51] Can we lift our hands to the throne of grace?
[00:44:54] Our most gracious heavenly Father, we gather in the house of the Lord today to give you praise and glory and to honor your name and the sacrifice of your son at the cross that makes it possible
[00:45:10] that our sins might be forgiven, that our physical bodies might be healed, and that God Almighty would be our advocate.
[00:45:20] We thank you, Father, for the goodness of the Lord that has given us the ability to live in the United States of America.
[00:45:29] We pray for a revival of righteousness because our country is under assault by communism and socialism and paganism in the pulpit.
[00:45:41] We thank you, Lord, that as we proclaim this gospel over the television, that the fire of righteousness would be ignited in this nation and the nations of the world, that your name may be glorified. We pray and say amen. It is a blessing to know
[00:46:11] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[00:46:11] that God is moving and sustaining our country. We thank all of those that serve our country faithfully to all of our servicemen and servicewomen. We salute you. We thank you for the sacrifice you are making to ensure our freedom is intact as our founding pastor has said freedom
[00:46:30] is not free it's been bought with a price and we honor and thank the lord for those that serve our country at the same time we're praying right now for the many prayer requests that have come in
[00:46:42] julie from south dakota we're praying that healing would come upon your body in jesus name father we pray that you would eradicate every form of sickness over Julie in Jesus' name. We're praying for David in Ontario for protection and even justice as you are seeking legal counsel and

[00:47:59] are giving to make it possible to take all the gospel to all the world and every generation
[00:48:04] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:48:04] as we go back to service let's be reminded that God's not done so you're not done would please
[00:55:35] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[00:55:35] stand for the reading of God's word and if you brought your bibles turn them to the book of Hebrews to the 11th chapter, beginning at the sixth verse. As this morning, we start a sermon
[00:55:45] series entitled Faith in the Flood with this message, the reality of redemption. For the next three Sundays, we're going to focus on the life and the ministry of Noah. And we're going to find out why the days of Noah are so pertinent and important in the days in which we live. Some of
[00:56:07] you may think it's ridiculous that a prehistoric world could have any relevance in an age filled with modern technology, that a world that was barbaric and uncivilized would have any relevance where there's high-speed internet and Wi-Fi and chat GPT and the World Wide Web, smartphones,
[00:56:27] smart watches, everything else is getting smart except leadership and politicians, global travel space travel but whenever you look in the word of God and you consider the words of Jesus Christ and what he had to say to his disciples when they asked him about his return
[00:56:48] he said only one name Noah in Matthew 24 and 37 he said as it was in the days of Noah so also will it be in the coming of the son of man when the author and the finisher of our faith
[00:57:05] wanted to provide a description of what the world would look like act like and be like before he came back he told his disciples consider noah who was noah noah was a man who by faith listened to
[00:57:21] god's word and built an ark noah was a father who through his faithfulness in action while he may have looked ridiculous to the world around him, he rescued his family. Noah was a man who lived
[00:57:36] for God in a generation that was so corrupt and so perverse that when God looked down on mankind in Noah's day, this is what the Bible says. God saw the wickedness of their hearts and that their
[00:57:50] intent was only toward evil. And the Lord was sorry that he made man and it grieved his heart.
[00:57:59] This is who Noah was.
[00:58:03] And Noah needed the reality of redemption in a flood of judgment.
[00:58:09] Let's read Hebrews, the 11th chapter, beginning at the sixth verse.
[00:58:13] If you found the text, say amen.
[00:58:17] But without faith, it is impossible to please him.
[00:58:21] For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
[00:58:30] By faith, Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
[00:58:52] Heavenly Father, thank you for your word.
[00:58:55] Thank you that it is alive, it is powerful, it is real and relevant for today.
[00:59:00] thank you that by putting our faith in your son Jesus Christ who is the ark of our salvation we can find redemption in a world that is facing judgment and by placing our hope and our trust
[00:59:14] in you we can make our calling and election sure through Christ our Savior it's in his name that we pray these things and say amen you may be seated what is the reality of redemption and
[00:59:30] why is it necessary? Jesus said very clearly, as it was in the days of Noah. When you consider that statement, it's something that you should stop and really evaluate what was going on in Noah's day that is comparable to our day. Well, according to Genesis chapter six and verse four,
[00:59:52] God was sorry that he had made mankind. How do you think God looks at the evil and the corruption in our world today. If he regretted what men were doing then, how much more must he regret it now?
[01:00:08] You see, Noah's generation was filled with people who were apostates. They acted as if God didn't exist. They did what they wanted, when they wanted, and believed that there was no consequence for their choices. Are we any different in our modern world? The hearts of men in Noah's day, according
[01:00:29] to the word were continually turned towards evil. They had no appetite and craving for righteousness. All they desired was what their flesh cared for. Are we any different in this world? Forget looking at the secular world. Let's look at places that consider themselves houses of
[01:00:49] worship. In the world that we live in, you have mainline denominations ordaining homosexuals, and the Word of God calls that behavior an abomination unto God.
[01:01:02] You've got political leaders and schoolhouse teachers who are trying to indoctrinate your children in the idea that there are six genders, and they call themselves educated.
[01:01:17] The Bible very clearly says, Genesis 1 and 27, that God created man in his image.
[01:01:24] He created them male and female.
[01:01:29] In our world today, we have churches that call abortion a blessing, and when they take up an offering in that church, they give a portion of their resources from their missions budget to planned parenthood. The Bible says God hates hands that shed innocent blood. Any church that
[01:01:51] gives its resources to planned parenthood is what the book of Revelation called the synagogue of Satan, but don't you dare call it the house of the living God. In Noah's generation, the world ignored God and they celebrated evil. In our generation, we do the same. Paul told Timothy
[01:02:12] in second Timothy chapter three, that in the last days, these were the things that men were going to do. First and foremost, they were going to be lovers of themselves. We're there folks. We actually post pictures we call selfies all day long. Photo albums used to be filled with pictures
[01:02:34] of places like the Grand Canyon and the Golden Gate Bridge, and now they're just pictures of your face. Paul said that men would not only be lovers of themselves, but they would be lovers of money and boasters and proud, and they would be blasphemers. They would be disobedient to parents,
[01:02:52] unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, without self-control. They would be brutal despisers of good, traitors and headstrong, that they would be haughty and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, that they would have a form of godliness, but they would deny the power
[01:03:09] of God. And then Paul says to Timothy, from such people turn away. Church, if you scroll through the headlines that we live in in this world and you compare it to what Jesus said about the days
[01:03:24] of Noah you understand that in this hour of history it is imperative that you build an ark in this moment in time you need an ark for your family to make up your mind like Joshua did as
[01:03:37] for me and my house we will serve the Lord you need an ark for your finances when you remember that it is the Lord who gives you the power to get wealth that your resources are not connected
[01:03:48] to the economy of this world but your resources come from God your father in heaven you need an ark for your future why because soon and very soon those who have placed their faith in the
[01:04:01] ark of our salvation who is Jesus Christ those who obey his word in the moment in the twinkling of an eye the trump of God is going to sound the dead in Christ is going to rise and we who are
[01:04:14] alive and remain are going to leave this world. And when that happens, when that happens, a flood of judgment is going to hit the earth like this world has never seen before.
[01:04:32] Because God, who is a righteous judge, is going to unleash his wrath on all unrighteousness and all wickedness. This is the story of Noah, that redemption is for real people.
[01:04:50] Noah and the ark is something that is so graphic, it's so horrifying that we've actually sanitized it and made it a Sunday school lesson.
[01:05:01] But we don't want to talk about it in the sanctuary.
[01:05:06] I mean, when you consider the judgment and wrath that God poured out on the entire earth, it should cause you to shudder.
[01:05:15] So instead of considering God's wrath and judgment, we've turned Noah into a cute, cuddly animal park with eight happy sailors doing the work of zookeepers under sunshine and rainbows.
[01:05:30] But don't ever forget this, in order to celebrate and be thankful for the grace of God and not take it for granted, you have to fully embrace and understand the wrath of God. We don't want to
[01:05:41] consider how God's wrath on an exact day, at an exact appointed time, under absolute authority and control could open up the fountains of the deep and send rain upon the earth and destroy from under heaven according to Genesis 6 and 17 all flesh in which there is the breath of life
[01:06:04] when we think about these kinds of actions we want to believe that God was out of control that he did it in a fit of rage and he was sorry that he did it after it was done but that's not
[01:06:15] the God that we serve. He was in total control and he did it on purpose. Why? Because God who is holy and righteous cannot tolerate unrighteousness. In the world of our church, we want to sing songs about archie archie and flutty flutty, but don't tell me the truth
[01:06:41] about a holy, righteous, and just God who will judge the earth. In God's judgment and wrath, only Noah and his family were saved. The Bible says, how shall we escape if we neglect so great
[01:07:00] a salvation? What I want you to know today is that redemption is for real people. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Paul said in 2 Corinthians chapter 5, knowing the terror of the
[01:07:17] Lord, we persuade men. What is the terror of the Lord? It's his wrath that will be revealed against all ungodliness and all unrighteousness of men and those who suppress the truth according to Romans chapter 1 and 18. Paul said we persuade men. How do you persuade men? You persuade men
[01:07:37] by telling them very clearly redemption is for real people. Redemption is for you and it's for you and it's for me. You tell them that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten
[01:07:51] son. You point them to Romans 5, 8, that while we were yet sinners, when we were at our worst, Christ died for us. He gave us his very best. Noah's story reminds us not only of God's awesome
[01:08:06] wrath against unrighteousness, but it also reminds us of his amazing grace and how faith in him can save your life. For Genesis chapter 6 and verse 8 says, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
[01:08:21] Say that with me. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. What was it about Noah that when God is looking at all of mankind and he sees nothing but the evil intent of their heart, he decides
[01:08:34] that one is worth saving? Wouldn't you like to know? I mean, if God's going to kill everybody, wouldn't you want to be on the no-kill list? So what was it that Noah did? According to verse 9,
[01:08:51] it says, Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations, and he walked with God. So let's consider those three things, because this is why Noah found grace in God's eyes. He was a just man,
[01:09:08] perfect in his generations, and walked with God. What does it mean that Noah was just?
[01:09:15] it means that Noah knew and he recognized his need for forgiveness. Noah knew that he needed salvation. God does not expect human beings to live perfect lives, but he does want us to pursue righteousness. He wants us to chase after the proper things. And Noah in his life knew that
[01:09:41] he was a sinner and he needed a savior. First John chapter 1 verse 9 tells us that if we will confess our sins that God is faithful and he is just to forgive us our sins. You see, when God
[01:09:58] dealt with Adam and Eve in their rebellion in the Garden of Eden, he announced immediately that he was going to make a way of redemption. The first announcement of his path for redemption comes in Genesis chapter 3 verse 16. We're familiar with the words, and the seed of the woman
[01:10:16] shall crush the head of the serpent. Seeing how the serpent of old, the father of lies, the devil had slithered into the garden and broken God's fellowship with man, the one whom God had created
[01:10:30] in his own image, the hand of God pulls back the veil and he reveals the secret in these words, the seed of the woman understanding the biology of humankind you recognize that women don't have
[01:10:45] seed they have an egg and that egg needs to be fertilized by seed so when God said the seed of the woman he was speaking somewhat of a mystery and what he was telling us is that there was going
[01:10:58] to be one who would come forth that he God would send his only begotten son that he would be the word made flesh and dwell among us, that he would be Emmanuel, not God against us, but God with us,
[01:11:12] that he would be the lamb of God for sinners slain from the foundations of the earth, that he, the seed of the woman, would be called wonderful and counselor and mighty God, everlasting
[01:11:23] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:11:23] father and the prince of peace, that he would be the one who would come and crush the head of the serpent, that he would be the ark of our salvation and the ransom for sin and the rescue for sinners
[01:11:35] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:11:35] and the one to break the chains of those who were held captive.
[01:11:39] It took centuries for God to weave together the tapestry and the details of what it would take to bring Christ into the earth.
[01:11:48] From Genesis until Bethlehem, there were 300 prophecies that were fulfilled that pointed to the fact that Jesus Christ is the only one who could ever be called the Son of God.
[01:12:00] But when angels stood outside of Bethlehem
[01:12:03] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:12:03] and announced glory to God in the highest and peace and goodwill towards men.
[01:12:08] What God had promised in Genesis came to pass in Bethlehem's manger.
[01:12:20] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:12:20] Noah was a just man, not because he knew Jesus.
[01:12:26] Noah was a just man because he knew he needed a savior.
[01:12:32] He knew that he needed forgiveness.
[01:12:34] And he sacrificed.
[01:12:37] He sacrificed like Abel sacrificed.
[01:12:41] He sacrificed like his grandfather Methuselah sacrificed.
[01:12:45] He sacrificed like his great-grandfather Enoch sacrificed.
[01:12:48] And when God saw that Noah knew he needed a savior, God had grace towards Noah.
[01:12:56] Do you know that you need a savior?
[01:13:00] Do you live as if your sin and transgression doesn't matter to God?
[01:13:05] I assure you it does.
[01:13:09] The next thing that we see about Noah is that Noah was perfect in his generations.
[01:13:14] what does that mean perfect in his generations if God is no respecter of persons why would God look at Noah and say this one's perfect in his generations what God is saying to us in his word
[01:13:30] right there is that Noah was 100% human being you say what do you mean how many different kinds of beings are there? I'm so glad you asked. When the Bible says that Noah was 100% perfect in his
[01:13:52] generations, what he's saying is that Noah was a man made in God's own image. Go read the first four verses of Genesis chapter 6, and what you see is a demonic attempt that Satan deliberately
[01:14:08] makes to undercut God's plan for the seed of the woman. Satan hears that God is going to send a redeemer through the womb of a woman, and therefore Satan unleashes a demonic plan to try and disrupt
[01:14:23] God's plan. In Genesis chapter 6 and verse 4, we read, and there were giants in the land in those days. This is not the New York giants or the San Francisco giants. These are real giants.
[01:14:36] so you ask the question how did these giants come into being the bible clearly says the sons of god say that with me the sons of god came into the daughters of men and they bore children to them
[01:14:52] these were the mighty men of old men of renown so who were these sons of god well let's use the Bible to prove the Bible. The sons of God were fallen angels. The sons of God were demonic
[01:15:10] beings that were cast out of heaven when they followed Lucifer in a rebellion against God and tried to kick God off his throne. You can read about it in Isaiah chapter 14 and Ezekiel chapter 28. You think Hollywood comes up with some really good scripts? Brother, the Bible is full
[01:15:29] of adventure. You say, wait a minute, preacher, you're getting out, you're in the outer limits now. Well, let's use the Bible to prove the Bible. When you read Job chapter one, verse six, in Job chapter one, verse six, it says, now there was a day when the sons of God, say that with me,
[01:15:56] the sons of God. Genesis chapter six, what do we read? The sons of God. Job chapter one, what do we read? The sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and who? Satan also
[01:16:15] came among them. Satan, before he was cast out of heaven, was an archangel named Lucifer.
[01:16:23] And when he decided he was going to knock God off of his throne, God knocked him out of heaven.
[01:16:30] However, any time that God wanted Satan to appear in the court of heaven, Satan had no choice but to answer the summons. I find it remarkable that even the demons that decided to rebel still have
[01:16:46] to show up before God's presence when God calls them before him. How awesome and how powerful is our God? He proves every day that every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that he is Lord to the glory of God the Father. But let's focus on this phrase, sons of God.
[01:17:07] in Job chapter 1 they're fallen angels in Genesis chapter 6 they're fallen angels the Hebrew word for the fallen ones is Nephilim which means they're demonic beings in Genesis chapter 6 what's happening is demonic beings are having children with human beings and they are creating a
[01:17:29] supernatural hybrid that is a giant, but it's not what God created in his image. Fallen creatures.
[01:17:41] People say, why is this relevant for today? Well, recently the Pentagon began releasing reports.
[01:17:48] They said there's UFOs. And suddenly people started talking about ETs, extraterrestrials.
[01:17:57] And people want to know, pastor, do you think they're real? According to the Bible, they most certainly are. I mean, Gabriel was a UFO. Every Christmas you put him on your tree, but you don't realize he's an unidentified flying object. What you need to realize
[01:18:20] is not that there are other created beings in the cosmos. What you should always remember is Genesis 1 and 26, that you are the only thing that has been created in the image of God.
[01:18:34] God said let us make man in our image and in the image of God God created you you're not an accident you're not a science experiment you're not the process of an evolving set of circumstances
[01:18:51] you are divinely designed fearfully and wonderfully made by the hand of almighty God and your purpose on this earth is for you to give God glory honor and praise this is why I say that salvation and redemption are for real people Noah was perfect in his
[01:19:17] generations because Noah was 100 real he was a human being God could trace his bloodline all the way back through Methuselah and Enoch and Seth right up to Adam and when God saw that Noah was perfect in his bloodline God said I can start with him now back to this ET stuff
[01:19:42] What do I think about what the Pentagon is saying?
[01:19:46] I think the Pentagon is about 2,000 years behind Jesus because Jesus said, as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man.
[01:19:55] This world might think it's got breaking news, but God's word has been true, will be true, and is always true.
[01:20:10] Noah was a real man, and Noah needed a real savior.
[01:20:15] Noah was real like you and I are real.
[01:20:18] And if he needed a savior, we need a savior.
[01:20:21] Noah didn't get rescued on the ark because Noah was holier than thou.
[01:20:26] Noah got rescued on the ark because Noah without God would have died.
[01:20:31] You and I need salvation because the wages of our sin is death.
[01:20:36] The Bible says there is not one righteous among us.
[01:20:39] No, not one.
[01:20:41] Today, I rejoice in the joy of my salvation.
[01:20:46] I rejoice that God had a perfect plan to redeem an imperfect person like me.
[01:20:53] I rejoice that redemption is for real people, flawed people, broken people who need to be
[01:21:00] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:21:00] mended.
[01:21:01] I'm thankful today that real people are in real need of forgiveness in a fallen world.
[01:21:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:21:07] I'm thankful that real people need real peace of mind in a world of torment.
[01:21:12] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:21:12] I'm thankful that real people who need real answers can find those answers in the Word of God.
[01:21:18] I'm thankful that if you need real healing, we have a great physician.
[01:21:23] I'm thankful that if you need to be set free, that whom the Son sets free will set you free indeed.
[01:21:30] When it comes to the ark of my salvation, I am thankful that in the fullness of time, God sent forth his only son who was born under the law to redeem those who were in the law
[01:21:42] that we might receive the adoptions as son.
[01:21:46] Today, while I'm telling you that redemption is for real people, let me tell you that I have a very real savior and Jesus is his name.
[01:21:55] He is the seed of the woman who came to crush the head of the serpent.
[01:22:00] He is heaven's hope and hell's dread.
[01:22:03] He has been given the name that is above every name and it is only by his matchless name that we might be saved. He is a real healer for by his stripes we are healed. His name is power
[01:22:18] because it is the name that is above every name. At the name of Jesus, demons tremble. At the name of Jesus, cancer dies. At the name of Jesus, mountains are moved. His name is deliverance
[01:22:33] because whom the sun sets free is free indeed. His name is comfort because by his stripes we are healed. His name is wonderful and counselor and mighty God and Emmanuel who is God with us.
[01:22:49] Because of his redemption, I can go boldly into the throne room of my God and I can find comfort in my hour of need. Because of his name, I can go into heavenly places and what I find is found
[01:23:04] and what I lose is loosed. Because of his name, I can lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
[01:23:12] because of his name I can say oh death where is thy sting and oh grave where is thy victory because death has been swallowed up and Jesus Christ has the keys child of God magnify the
[01:23:28] Lord with me and let us exalt his name together if you're thankful for your salvation give the Lord a hand clap and a shout in this house Noah Noah was just because he knew he needed a savior
[01:24:11] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:24:11] Noah was perfect because he was a real man and the Bible says Noah walked with God do you how do we know that Noah walked with God what does that mean according to the text we read this
[01:24:32] morning, walking with God means that you fear the Lord, that you take him seriously, that you refuse to ignore God, that when God tells you to do something, I know it's hard to believe, but you
[01:24:51] actually do it. Because the Bible says that Noah, being divinely warned, moved with a godly fear, prepared an ark. Crazy that Noah would actually do what God told him to do. But that's walking with God Noah didn't say well God I've never built an ark well God I've never seen rain
[01:25:22] well God I'm not sure I've got the right permit God said do it and Noah did it and as simple as that sounds sometimes walking with God is not as easy as it looks but if there's one thing that's
[01:25:41] lacking in the world that we live in today it's people who fear God take him seriously and walk in obedience with his word. Samuel, the prophet, told Saul, the king, that obedience is better than sacrifice. And what was he saying? Saul wanted to look good without being good. And what
[01:26:05] Samuel says is it's better to be good than look good. People who walk with God behave like they believe. They behave as if they believe that God will do what he said he would do. And I find it
[01:26:21] ironic that we're willing to believe in God's promises of provision. We're willing to quote houses that we didn't build and wells we didn't dig and vineyards that we didn't plant. But do you realize that God also promised to judge the unrighteous and the unwicked? If we expect him to
[01:26:39] keep one promise, why don't we expect him to keep them all? One of the greatest problems that we face in this generation is the fear epidemic. People struggle with anxiety. And I truly believe that one of the reasons that we have so much fear and anxiety in this generation is because we have
[01:27:00] an overwhelming lack of fear for God. The Bible lists over and over the blessings and benefits of those who fear the Lord. Just look at a few of them. Proverbs chapter 9, the fear of the Lord is
[01:27:15] the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 19, the fear of the Lord leads to life and he who has it will abide in satisfaction. Do you want to have a satisfying life? Take God seriously. Proverbs 22,
[01:27:30] by humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life. Nothing wrong with those three things, but it comes at the price of being a person who fears God. Psalm 33, the eye of the
[01:27:46] Lord is on those who fear him. Proverbs 10, the fear of the Lord prolongs your days, but the years of the wicked are shortened. People are talking about anti-aging technologies and anti-aging supplements and anti-aging behaviors. Do you know one of the greatest things that will keep you from
[01:28:05] aging? Fear God. Proverbs 14, in the face of the Lord, there is strong confidence and his children will find a place of refuge. Psalm 34, the fear of the Lord. Fear the Lord, you his saints.
[01:28:26] There is no want to those who fear him. So what does that mean? When you fear God, you do what God tells you to do. If God says give, you give. If God says pray always, you pray always. If God
[01:28:49] says in everything give thanks you give thanks and by doing so you walk with God in obedience Noah was a just man he knew he needed a savior Noah was a real man created in God's image
[01:29:08] and Noah walked with God do you those who walk with the Lord find grace in God's eyes i say this in closing god has promised us in his word as it was in the days of noah
[01:29:35] which means when you see those common behaviors you have to realize that jesus christ the ark of salvation is getting ready to take those who have faith in him to their reward and then just
[01:29:51] like God judged the world in Noah's day he's going to judge the world in this day God's judgment is just as real as God's mercy and grace church when Jesus says as it was in the days of Noah
[01:30:13] you can look at the world around us and know beyond the shadow of a doubt were there. But Noah found grace in God's eyes. Why? He feared the Lord. He walked with God and obeyed his word. And in doing so, he escaped judgment in an ark of salvation.
[01:30:41] God has made a way for you and I to receive that same ark of salvation. And Jesus Christ is his name. Will you stand in the presence of the Lord? Today I have told you the truth based on
[01:31:05] God's holy word and today I need to give you a chance to choose to either walk with God or walk with the world. To either by faith enter an ark of salvation or by your own free will
[01:31:26] face God in his righteous judgment. So with every head bowed and every eye closed you're in this place and you say pastor I know that what you're saying is true and soon God will judge the world
[01:31:42] but I'm not ready to meet him I'm not walking with him I don't fear him like I should I don't take him seriously or obey his word but today I need for that to change and I want it to change
[01:31:57] so I'm willing to raise my hand to receive my savior because I know just like Noah did I need him and salvation is for real people if that's you and you want to receive the Lord Jesus Christ
[01:32:14] in this place today I want you to raise your hand right where you are I see hands all over this room so here's what we're going to do those of you with your hand raised I want you to take one simple
[01:32:32] step of faith and start walking towards this altar I want you to do something that you might be uncomfortable with but trust me it took Noah a lot of courage to build an ark however when
[01:32:44] judgment came, it was well worth it. So if you want to receive Jesus today, start walking this way because I assure you he wants to meet you as bad as you want to meet him. Church, would you
[01:33:00] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:33:00] sing with me? You thought I was worth saving. So you came and changed my life. You thought I was
[01:33:11] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[01:33:11] worth keeping. So you clean me up inside. You thought I was to die for you. Sacrifice your life.
[01:33:32] I will tell every saint. Keep it. Ushers, while we're ministering here at the altar, I want you
[01:34:35] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:34:35] to get in position because this is the first Sunday of the month and we celebrate our communion.
[01:34:41] But while they're getting in position for communion, those of you at this altar, I want you to lift your hands and bow your heads and repeat this prayer with me. Lord Jesus Christ, thank you
[01:34:51] that salvation is for real people. Thank you for forgiving me and redeeming me and that today by your grace and in faith believing, I can leave this sanctuary a son and a daughter of the living god my past is erased under your precious blood my tomorrow is filled with hope
[01:35:28] because you are for me and not against me i have confidence in christ that because of this moment in time i am on an ark of salvation and jesus is his name thank you jesus for dying for me
[01:35:50] thank you Lord for sending your son thank you Holy Spirit for calling me to this altar today because from this moment forward I am yours and you are mine in Jesus name Amen those of you who are here at this altar
[01:36:21] I want to give you a chance to go with our ministry team for just a few moments Pastor Ricky Trinidad is standing right there if you'll just turn and walk this way I promise you your family will not abandon you
[01:36:33] they will take you to brunch the church the Bible says to rejoice in the joy of our salvation if you're thankful for what Jesus did this morning would you give him a hand clap of praise
[01:36:45] ushers you can begin to wait upon the congregation and I will sing hallelujah
[01:36:57] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[01:36:57] sing glory to the God who
[01:37:05] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:37:05] worship you Give you glory. I am free because I am whole. I will tell ever. I was worth saving. I won't ever lose the joy of your salvation. You thought I was worth saving. You came and changed my life. You thought I was worth keeping. So you cleaned me up inside. You thought I was to die for.
[01:38:35] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_02]
[01:38:35] Just your life.
[01:38:41] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[01:38:41] Clare it with me, church.
[01:38:49] And now I am free.
[01:39:04] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:39:04] Jesus told his disciples that as often as you receive this communion, to receive it in remembrance of him.
[01:39:11] And today we remember not only our Redeemer, but we remember our soon coming King.
[01:39:17] The Bible says as they were eating, he took the bread and he blessed it and he broke it and he gave it to the disciples and he said, take it and eat it for this is my body.
[01:39:26] Can we take the symbol of the Lord's broken body?
[01:39:29] And then he took the cup and when he had given it to them, he said, drink from it all of you.
[01:39:40] Can we take the symbol of the Lord's shed blood?
[01:39:43] He said, but this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for the many and the remission of sins.
[01:39:54] But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's kingdom.
[01:40:02] church soon and very soon we will celebrate this marriage supper of the lamb in my father's kingdom if you're looking forward to that day would you give the lord a mighty shout and a hand clap of
[01:40:19] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]
[01:40:19] praise lift your hand for the blessing and now may the lord bless you and may the lord keep you and may the lord make his face to shine upon you and may the lord be gracious unto you and give you
[01:40:40] his peace. May you leave this assembly today with a renewed faith in what can God can do through you and in you because he is the almighty God. He is the prayer answering God. There is no limitation

[01:43:12] Don't go away.
[01:43:13] Here's more teaching from the Word of God.
[01:43:17] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_12]
[01:43:17] Hello and welcome to this exciting opportunity to continue studying the Word of God together.
[01:43:21] In the last two weeks, we've gone through the first 13 verses of Romans chapter 9.
[01:43:28] And this is Paul's statement under direction of the Holy Spirit in the book of Romans concerning God's relationship with Israel.
[01:43:39] Up to now, we've covered who Paul was writing to and how the book of Romans is laid out, historically where we are and why it's important for understanding the context.
[01:43:50] Last week, when we left off with verse 13, we read some very difficult words to understand if you just isolate them.
[01:43:59] Jacob have I loved?
[01:44:01] Esau have I hated?
[01:44:02] Why would God love one and hate another?
[01:44:06] Don't we want to believe that God sees all and believes all equally, that he's not partial?
[01:44:16] Remember, he's sovereign and he's got a divine plan.
[01:44:21] So in verse 14, let's pick it up there this week.
[01:44:25] Paul begins by asking a rhetorical question, a question that's really not supposed to be answered.
[01:44:33] It's supposed to prove a point.
[01:44:35] And the rhetorical question starts this way.
[01:44:38] What shall we say then?
[01:44:40] Is there unrighteousness with God?
[01:44:43] Now, anyone who is a believer would read this and go, what?
[01:44:47] And Paul immediately answers, certainly not.
[01:44:50] There is no unrighteousness with God.
[01:44:53] So if God says I'm choosing Jacob and not Esau, it's not an unrighteous decision.
[01:45:00] When we as wicked men, unrighteous men show partiality, partiality, we do so in unrighteousness. But when God shows partiality, He does so with righteousness because there is no unrighteousness in Him and He's sovereign and He has a divine will. Don't ascribe our faults to His flawlessness. Don't make the way we think
[01:45:32] bring him down to your level.
[01:45:37] So Paul says, there's a reason.
[01:45:39] And in verse 15, he begins to discuss it.
[01:45:42] For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.
[01:45:53] Paul is making the case, God is God.
[01:45:57] He knows what he's doing.
[01:45:59] In verse 16, he says, so then it is not of him who wills nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
[01:46:12] He's saying because God has sovereignty, authority, divine purpose, it doesn't matter what an individual wants of him who wills. It doesn't matter what an individual does of him who runs, but it's up to God. God's the one who decides. Verse 17, for the scripture says
[01:46:37] to the Pharaoh, for this very purpose, I have raised you up that I may show my power in you and that my name may be declared in all the earth. Therefore, verse 18, he has mercy on whom
[01:47:00] he wills and whom he wills, he hardens. Now, these verses are very important when you understand some of the fallacies that many replacement theologians or people who adhere to the idea that the church has replaced Israel, the New Testament has replaced the Old Testament, the Jews are out,
[01:47:22] the Christians are in, in such a ridiculous notion. Many of the fallacies that they want to argue come from these ideas. Well, how can God choose or favor one over another? And the answer is very clearly as Paul has written again, according to verse one, my conscience bearing
[01:47:42] witness in the Holy Spirit. He says, I'm under the compulsion of the Holy Spirit to tell you this.
[01:47:47] God does what he does because he's God. He doesn't need your permission. He doesn't have to explain it to you. He doesn't have to make it a soundbite that sounds good on Twitter. He's God. Why would
[01:48:05] he wipe out Pharaoh? He's God. Why would he choose Abraham? He's God. Why would he pick Jacob and not Esau? If you're sitting at home and you haven't got it yet, say it with me. He's God. We don't
[01:48:25] get to ask, we just choose to accept and believe or argue. And in doing so, not enable ourselves to live in the fulfillment of his promises. Verse 19, you will say to me then, why does he still
[01:48:48] find fault or who has resisted his will? And what Paul is saying is let's reverse the argument one more time. Because when people start to hear, well, he's God, he's going to choose who he wants
[01:49:01] to choose. This is where the doctrine of election, which doesn't have anything to do necessarily with this replacement theology thing, but a lot of people get into this whole once saved, always saved versus one slip and you're on your way to eternal hell. Why would anybody care if he's going
[01:49:20] to pick who he wants and he's going to pick who he doesn't want? Paul says that's a massive oversimplification. God has sovereignty. He knows what mankind is going to do.
[01:49:34] God has divine will that all should receive the gift of his son, Jesus Christ. And God gives you the ability to choose. If you choose God, you're blessed by God. If you reject God, then you suffer the consequences of your choice. But what you don't get to do in your free will
[01:49:56] is change God's will.
[01:49:59] What you don't get to do in your free will is say, well, God, if you're gonna do what you're gonna do, then I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do because I get to choose to.
[01:50:08] And while we might sit there and think, man, that's silly, that's ridiculous.
[01:50:12] That's such a childish thought.
[01:50:14] Do you know how many grown children are running around playing those kinds of games in the world today and using scriptural references to vandalize the portrait of God's truth?
[01:50:32] So Paul says, will you say to me, why does he still find fault or who has he resisted?
[01:50:41] Verse 20, but indeed, oh man, who are you to reply against God?
[01:50:49] There it is.
[01:50:50] Who am I?
[01:50:52] I'm created.
[01:50:54] He's the creator.
[01:50:56] Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, why have you made me like this?
[01:51:05] If we believe the Bible, and that's a big if for some people, they may say they do, but you have to behave like you believe before it's true.
[01:51:16] If we believe the Bible, then God is the creator of all things.
[01:51:23] And what Paul is challenging us with here is if he is the creator and we are the created, how do we question him?
[01:51:32] How can we say, God, you can do this, but you can't do that?
[01:51:37] How can we say you can choose him, but you shouldn't choose that. Why didn't you do this versus doing that? He's God. That's a big deal. He alone is holy. He alone deserves glory. He alone sits on the throne. I am the Lord. There
[01:51:58] is no one like me. He's not an option on the menu of life for you to choose. He is the source of your life and it is to your detriment to reject him. So Paul continues, verse 21, does not the
[01:52:18] potter have the power over the clay from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? Paul is using a modern analogy of how pottery was made. One massive block of clay and
[01:52:35] from this part of the clay, maybe the potter chooses to make a vessel that's going to hold anointing oil and be used in the services of faith and fidelity and sacred things. That would be a vessel of honor. And over here, another bowl that's going to be used for mouthwash,
[01:52:55] a vessel of dishonor. But it's the potter's decision. I'm going to take this piece and I'm going to make that. And I'm going to take this piece and I'm going to make that. And what Paul
[01:53:05] is saying is God did the same thing with mankind. Why? Because he's the potter who created man.
[01:53:13] I'm going to take Abraham and I'm going to take Isaac and I'm going to take Jacob and I'm going to make a covenant with them. I'm going to take Pharaoh and I'm going to take Egypt and I'm going
[01:53:23] to make a purpose for them. I'm going to take these people and I'm going to make a purpose for them. I'm going to do what I want with whom I want because I'm the potter. Don't complicate it,
[01:53:35] folks, we are the sheep of his pastures. Verse 22, what if God wanting to show his wrath and to make his power known endured with much long suffering, the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? What Paul is saying is because we're finite, because we only live when we live and we
[01:54:10] only see what we see and we only know what we know, we are in a bad place to make a judgment.
[01:54:19] And that is such a powerful thing to keep in mind in the modern world that we live in, because we live in an information age where we think we can Google anything or chat something.
[01:54:29] And suddenly with one download, we're fully informed. No, we're not. We're standing this close to the portrait and only seeing a few brushstrokes. Take a big step back. And what Paul is saying here is if you've got a problem with God choosing Jacob and rejecting Esau,
[01:54:48] or you've got a problem with him crushing Pharaoh, you don't have any idea how many chances he gave them. You don't have any idea how patient he was. You don't have any idea how many opportunities he
[01:55:04] allowed the wicked to choose him before he decided that he was going to judge. Consider just as an example, the conversation that Abram has with God, whenever they're arguing about Sodom and Gomorrah, it's in Genesis. God says, I'm going to destroy the city. And Abraham says, well, what if there's
[01:55:24] some righteous in the city? And God says, how many? And Abraham begins with a large number and he works it all the way down. What if there's just 10? And God said, if I found 10, I'd spare it.
[01:55:41] what does that tell us? That God knew the hearts and he knew the condition and he knew the amount of mercy he had already shown to those that he was going to judge. Why is this important when
[01:55:58] it comes to discussing replacement theology? Because in the arguments that replacement theologians make, what they do is they decide that they're going to play God and they're going to put God in a box and what they have no idea from their limited perspective is how long the
[01:56:22] plan and the purposes of God take, how long he's been working on his agenda, not theirs. Verse 23, and that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had
[01:56:44] prepared beforehand for glory. Even us whom he called not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles. Now Paul is pulling two groups together. This is revolutionary stuff because up until now, he's talking about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the descendants that brought Christ into the world.
[01:57:11] Genealogy is huge in Judaism.
[01:57:15] Why?
[01:57:16] Because your genealogy should tell you what you're supposed to do.
[01:57:21] Genealogy tells you whether or not you're a Levite.
[01:57:24] If you're a Levite, you're supposed to be a priest.
[01:57:27] Genealogy tells you if you're from the tribe of Benjamin.
[01:57:31] Genealogy tells you if you're from the tribe of Naphtali or Manasseh or Ephraim.
[01:57:38] Genealogy tells you if you're from the tribe of Judah, why is Judah important?
[01:57:45] Because Judah is the king.
[01:57:48] Judah is the lineage from which comes the kings.
[01:57:53] David was in Judah.
[01:57:58] Jesus, a descendant of David, is in Judah.
[01:58:05] Messiah, who is the promised king who will rule for a thousand years, is from Judah. The Bible calls him the lion of the tribe, not of Levi, not of Manasseh, not of Naphtali, not of Israel. He is the lion of the tribe of Judah. As a matter of fact,
[01:58:32] Matthew, one of the disciples, when he wrote his gospel, he wrote his gospel to the Jews to persuade them that Jesus Christ was who he said he was.
[01:58:45] And how did he start his gospel?
[01:58:48] Matthew chapter one and verse one, the book of the genealogy of Jesus, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
[01:58:58] Now, considering who he was writing to, he didn't do this so that we would have a creative way to start our Christmas pageants.
[01:59:07] He wrote this so that the Jews who read it would be able to say, prove it. And so he begins. Abraham begat Isaac. Isaac begat Jacob. Nobody argues that. Jacob begat Judah. Oh, Judah. Jesus Christ said he was a king. Judah is the right
[01:59:32] tribe for him to be a king from. Ah, but wait, he's got to have David. Maybe he didn't have David.
[01:59:41] Judah begat Perez and Zerah by Tamar.
[01:59:45] Perez begat Herzon.
[01:59:47] Ram begat on and goes.
[01:59:50] Solomon begat Boaz.
[01:59:52] Boaz begat Obed.
[01:59:54] Obed begat Jesse, verse six, and Jesse begat David the king.
[02:00:02] Oh, he not only has Judah, he's got David.
[02:00:09] But wait a second, David had lots of kids.
[02:00:12] it's got to be David and Solomon. Finish the verse. David the king begot Solomon. Solomon begot Rehoboam, Asa, Jehoshaphat, Uzziah, Hezekiah, Josiah. On down we go all through the chapters and it finally comes down and says, and Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born
[02:00:40] Jesus who is called Christ. Verse 17, he brings it to fulfillment. So all the generations from Abraham to David are 14 and from David until the captivity, 14 and from the captivity until Christ, 14. He's saying, not only does Jesus have the right bloodline, but Jesus fits the right timeline.
[02:01:05] He's got to be the guy. Now, this is important evidence when we consider Romans chapter 9, because Paul says here, even us whom he called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles.
[02:01:25] How did he call the Gentiles? He called us through Christ. He called us through the Holy Spirit.
[02:01:37] in the 14 generations from Abraham to David no Gentiles were called in the 14 generations from David to the Babylonian captivity no Gentiles were called from the Babylonian captivity until Christ no Gentiles were called
[02:01:57] but when Christ died and rose again after the day of Pentecost and when Cornelius had received the message suddenly Gentiles were called we got to the party late We're the newcomers.
[02:02:16] Paul's been talking now in this chapter for 24 verses and he's talking about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the descendants of Israel.
[02:02:25] And in verse 24, he says, oh, and the rest of us.
[02:02:33] So he's saying, how can we question God's will when we didn't deserve mercy, we didn't deserve grace, we didn't deserve adoption, we didn't deserve promises, we didn't deserve covenants, we didn't deserve any of this stuff.
[02:02:46] but he sent Jesus and he pulled us into this stuff.
[02:02:51] And now we're gonna start asking how?
[02:02:54] Sometimes it's just best to say thank you.
[02:02:57] So he proves it again in scripture by referencing the prophet Hosea.
[02:03:05] Verse 25, as he says also in Hosea, I will call them my people who are not my people.
[02:03:13] Those would be the Gentiles.
[02:03:15] And I would call them my beloved who are not my beloved and it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, you are not my people. There they shall be called sons of the living God. Those two verses he uses
[02:03:31] to establish how God divinely chose to graft Gentiles into the covenant of Abraham, which is why we are Judeo-Christians, not Christian Judeos. And then he continues in verse 27.
[02:03:50] This is where pastor began his conversation in the sermon series several weeks ago.
[02:03:56] Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel, though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved.
[02:04:05] What he's saying here is God had a plan for the Gentiles when he grafted them in and God had a plan for Israel when he made a covenant with Abraham and he is going to keep both plans.
[02:04:17] he's a big enough God to do what he said when he said it as long as it takes it takes however he does it he does it but don't question the plan for he will finish the work and cut it short
[02:04:37] in righteousness remember there's no unrighteousness in God because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth and as Isaiah said before unless the Lord of the Sabbath had left us a seed we
[02:04:51] would have become like Sodom and we would have become like Gomorrah. And many times replacement theologians say, well, see, that's proof right there that God's done with them. No, it's not.
[02:05:01] You know what that says right there? Read it for yourself. We, Jew and Gentile, we, all those who come from Adam, we, mankind, wicked and evil in our nature. If God hadn't done what he did for us,
[02:05:24] we would have destroyed ourselves.
[02:05:28] What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah?
[02:05:29] They destroyed themselves.
[02:05:32] God told Abraham, I'd spare them if I could find 10 people in there that were living for me, but they're not.
[02:05:38] So I'm done with them.
[02:05:41] And if God didn't do what he did for us, if he hadn't left us a seed, it's an important word.
[02:05:50] We like Sodom and Gomorrah, you and I, all nations, all people from all mankind would have destroyed ourselves.
[02:05:58] The world right now is doing its best to destroy itself.
[02:06:04] But God left us a seed.
[02:06:07] Who did he leave the seed with?
[02:06:10] Well, he talked about it in Genesis chapter three, the seed of the woman, that's Jesus Christ.
[02:06:15] How did he get that seed into the world?
[02:06:18] Through the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
[02:06:21] He used the Jewish lineage to bring us Jesus.
[02:06:26] This is why Jesus said salvation is of the Jews.
[02:06:29] You hear pastor reference this often.
[02:06:32] And it is basically saying exactly what scripture has fulfilled that without the Jewish contribution to the world, there would be no Jesus.
[02:06:45] Verse 30, again, Paul asks, what shall we say then?
[02:06:52] That the Gentiles, the late comers to the party, the new kids on the block who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith, but Israel pursuing the law of righteousness has not attained to the law of righteousness? It's another rhetorical
[02:07:21] question. He's saying, so you're going to tell me because you recently believed on Jesus that you can tell the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who have been following the Torah and the law and keeping the covenant
[02:07:42] and following the word that God gave them for centuries.
[02:07:49] Don't eat this, don't touch that, don't do this, don't do that.
[02:07:55] You're gonna tell me that we're righteous, but they're not?
[02:08:01] It's like showing up to the ball dressed in shorts and a tank top in the last five minutes and deciding to sit as the guest of honor.
[02:08:13] It's just inappropriate.
[02:08:14] replacement theologians are inappropriate. They're grafted into something they didn't deserve or earn because none of us deserve it and none of us earned it. And yet they want to claim ownership of it. Shame on that foolish thought. So why? This is verse 32,
[02:08:51] because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by the works of the law, they didn't didn't seek it through a system of belief. They sought it through a system of function.
[02:09:13] If we keep the law, if we remember the Sabbath, if we uphold the commandments, and this is why Jesus was a stumbling block. This is why Jesus was a problem. This is why the whole world created this evil doctrine and theology of replacement theology that is
[02:09:39] doctrinally, scripturally, biblically, and historically false. And we're going to finish that conversation next week. I hope you'll be back as we conclude.
