The Danger of Mixing Politics and the Gospel

While the sermon attempts to urge dependence on God, it is fundamentally compromised by a Critical error that equates political pragmatism with the Gospel. Additionally, the sermon suffers from a Major error of assuming the Gospel, relying on moralistic exhortation rather than the finished work of Christ.

❓ What do these grades mean?
🔍 Biblical Discernment: The 7 Church Parallels
The Faithful Parallels Smyrna • Philadelphia
Teaching that parallels the churches that endure suffering with true spiritual riches (Rev 2:9) and keep the Word of Christ without denial despite having "little strength" (Rev 3:8).
The Cold Orthodox Parallel Ephesus
Teaching that upholds doctrinal precision yet parallels the loss of the "first love"—the vital, motivating power of the Gospel (Rev 2:4).
The Compromised Parallel Pergamum
Teaching that parallels churches tolerating the "doctrine of Balaam" through cultural accommodation (Rev 2:14), characterized by weak boundaries, sloppy theology, and worldly compromise.
The Corrupted & Dead Parallels Thyatira • Sardis • Laodicea
Teaching that parallels churches with active heresy, synergism, therapeutic deism, or dead orthodoxy (Rev 2:20, Rev 3:1, Rev 3:17). These represent systemic, fundamental errors that corrupt the Gospel.
Why strictly "Mark & Avoid"?
We do not issue this rating to attack the speaker, but to protect the listener. This ministry's overall teaching trend consistently deviates from sound doctrine. As per Romans 16:17, we identify these patterns so believers can guard their hearts.

🧐 Overview

Theological Verdict & Summary

Sermon Summary: A critical examination of a sermon that dangerously conflates political compromise with the redemptive work of Christ, alongside a moralistic call to dependence on God.

Pastoral Analysis: While the sermon attempts to urge dependence on God, it is fundamentally compromised by a Critical error that equates political pragmatism with the Gospel. Additionally, the sermon suffers from a Major error of assuming the Gospel, relying on moralistic exhortation rather than the finished work of Christ.

Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Thyatira — The sermon exhibits active heresy by equating political pragmatism with the Gospel, fundamentally distorting the nature of Christ's atonement. This represents a severe doctrinal deviation that compromises the core message of salvation.

Big Idea: We treat God like a spare tire, keeping Him in the trunk until we have a flat, but we must embrace the deprivation and devastation of sin to realize we cannot do right or please God without Him. [00:32:42 ▶️ 📄]

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard

Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error

CategoryStatusReasoning
Gospel Presentation ❌ FAIL The Gospel Engine is not intact. The sermon relies on a thematic and moralistic structure that emphasizes human discipleship effort without substantively anchoring the message in the finished work of Christ. Furthermore, the Gospel is actively distorted by equating political outcomes with salvation.
Soteriology ❌ FAIL The sermon fails to present the Gospel correctly by equating political preservation with salvation and omitting the necessity of Christ's atonement for justification.
Bibliology ✅ PASS No specific errors regarding the authority or interpretation of Scripture were detected beyond the theological misapplication.
Hermeneutic ❌ FAIL The hermeneutic is flawed as it imposes a political framework onto the definition of the Gospel, ignoring the biblical definition of salvation through Christ's death and resurrection.
Theology Proper ❌ FAIL The doctrine of God is compromised by the assertion that political pragmatism is equivalent to the Gospel, which misrepresents God's redemptive plan.
Sacramentology ✅ PASS No sacramental errors were detected.
Confessional Depth ❌ SHALLOW The sermon lacks depth in explaining the theological mechanics of salvation, relying instead on moralistic appeals and political analogies.

⚙️ The Core Gospel Framework

What is this? This section checks if the sermon contains the essential building blocks of the Gospel. We look for explicit, substantive mentions of God's holy standard, human inability, and Christ's finished work on the cross.

Why it matters for the final verdict: A complete Gospel framework protects a sermon from becoming man-centered. If a preacher gives commands for good behavior but leaves out the grace and atonement of the Gospel, it often results in a 🔴 Critical or 🟠 Major error for Moralism (teaching human self-improvement rather than reliance on Christ). However, if these Gospel elements are missing simply because the pastor is preaching a highly focused, practical message to mature believers (e.g., instructions on biblical marriage), our system applies a "Safe Harbor" pardon, graciously reducing the omission to a 🟡 Minor error.

The Law And Wrath: Not observed in the sermon.

Total Depravity And Inability:

"I cannot do right without God. I can do everything, but I cannot please God. Amen, somebody. I cannot please God apart from being saved." [00:33:10 ▶️ 📄]

Active Obedience Of Christ: Not observed in the sermon.

The Cross And Atonement:

"who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried." [00:25:00 ▶️ 📄]

⚠️ Theological Concerns

🔴 Critical Gospel Distortion via Political Pragmatism

Root Cause: Political Pragmatism

"if i can preserve the union and keep them as slaves i'll do it if i can preserve the union and free them i would do it if i can preserve the nation by letting some of them remain slaves and some of them becoming free I would do it. Y'all get quiet. If this ain't the gospel I don't know what is." [01:10:00 ▶️ 📄]

The Belief/Behavior: The pastor states, 'if i can preserve the union and keep them as slaves i'll do it... Y'all get quiet. If this ain't the gospel I don't know what is.'

Why It's Dangerous: This equates political expediency with the redemptive work of Christ, fundamentally distorting the Gospel and misleading the congregation about the nature of salvation.

Biblical Correction: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

🟠 Major Assumed Gospel (Thematic/Moralistic)

Root Cause: Moralism

The Belief/Behavior: The sermon emphasizes human discipleship effort and cultural application without substantively anchoring the message in the finished work of Christ and monergistic grace.

Why It's Dangerous: The congregation is left with a moralistic call to action rather than the transformative power of the Gospel, leading to self-reliance rather than grace-dependent living.

Biblical Correction: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

✅ Commendations

Pastoral Application | Call to Dependence

The pastor effectively uses the 'spare tire' analogy to illustrate the human tendency to treat God as a last resort, urging the congregation to recognize their total dependence on Him.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:06:18] In the choir, we used to sing a song all the time that people used to love to hear sing, Jesus is all the world to me. My life, my strength, my joy, whatever the way the song goes, my everything. And that's what the choir reminded me of this morning. He is everything. Amen. That's why he said we can do all things. Come on somebody now. And so I'm going to say this, I'm going to do the call to worship. So Christ has come through the Holy Spirit, or you can say the Father,
[00:06:49] Live inside of us.
[00:06:52] That's the purpose of the Holy Spirit.
[00:06:55] God living in us.
[00:06:58] Now I can do all things.
[00:07:01] Come on, somebody, huh?
[00:07:04] That's who the Holy Spirit is.
[00:07:08] Amen, somebody.
[00:07:09] That's why I say he brings a moving van.
[00:07:13] He's not coming just to come hit you and visit with you for a few minutes and then leave.
[00:07:18] He comes to live with us.
[00:07:19] Amen?
[00:07:20] That's why he said that, Lord, I will be with you always, even unto the end of the age.
[00:07:28] Amen.
[00:07:30] O come, let us worship the Lord, and let us bow down before God, our Creator.
[00:07:38] For we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
[00:07:43] The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers of the Father shall worship him in spirit and in truth.
[00:07:53] But they are the kind of worshipers the father seeks.
[00:07:57] God is spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
[00:08:07] Let us pray. Gracious father, we come this morning to invoke your Shekinah glory or the indwelling or the manifestation of who you are.
[00:08:22] we understand oh God that you are indeed omnipresence you are everywhere at the same time but do realize you can be with us in a different way and so we ask oh God that you will come and make your abode with us
[00:08:40] through the blessed Holy Spirit and fill this house with your glory so my mind, my thinking, my attitude wherever my views are opinions are or his understanding and interpretations are and everybody else will not enter this place
[00:09:00] but only you and who you are so come holy spirit come heavenly dove and fall afresh on all of us even right now in the marvelous and gracious name of our lord and savior jesus who is the christ
[00:09:16] we pray amen our hymn of praise is lift him up amen

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[00:09:23] like you say if you can and that spake jesus of his resurrection if i be lifted up from the earth

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:13:21] he'll draw now i'm not gonna get into that but you gotta understand he draws people under him and for us it means we live a resurrected life amen because not us and I really mean it
[00:13:38] churches think that means to lift him up

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:13:40] by praising him and he's saying but by resurrection of his life if he's lifted up amen or raised from life from death to life then we too shall be resurrected and it's through the resurrection
[00:13:54] of our lives that he draws the world to himself So the scripture lesson this morning is from Acts, the second chapter.
[00:14:02] We're starting a new series and Acts, the second chapter, verses 42 through 47.
[00:14:11] But you need to understand the context of the entire chapter seven or chapter two, rather.
[00:14:18] So Acts, the second chapter, verses 42 through 47.
[00:14:23] Before I started reading, many people refer to this as being the model church.
[00:14:28] Amen. This is after the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
[00:14:33] It is Pentecost after Pentecost. All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles teachings and to the fellowship and to sharing in meals.
[00:14:50] parenthesis including the Lord's Supper and to prayer a deep sense of awe came over them all and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders and all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had
[00:15:17] they sold their property and possessions and shared the money with the people in need.
[00:15:26] They worshiped together at the temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity.
[00:15:37] All the while, praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people.
[00:15:45] And each day, the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved the word of god for the people of god thanks be unto god and we're going to be using as a theme the church that changed the world the church that changed the
[00:16:11] world let me say that one more again the church that changed the world what bothers me is i'm I'm serious about it.
[00:16:24] I don't know why we try to figure out how to do stuff.
[00:16:27] And then write in the Word.
[00:16:30] People are looking for answers everywhere.
[00:16:33] Huh?
[00:16:34] And then write in the Word.
[00:16:36] God tells us how to do it.
[00:16:39] Amen, somebody.
[00:16:40] And whenever we're not getting the outcome that we're supposed to be getting, we need to go back to the Word and see where have we erred.
[00:16:48] Somebody ought to hear me this morning.
[00:16:50] All right, Mama, you're going to pray for us.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:16:53] All right.
[00:16:54] Amen.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:16:55] Thanks be to God.
[00:17:08] We're going to bow our heads.
[00:17:11] We're going to call on the name of the Lord and bring our petitions before him because he's been so good to us.
[00:17:19] Father, in the name of Jesus, we come this morning.
[00:17:22] We just want to say thank you.
[00:17:24] Thank you, God.
[00:17:25] Because you've been so good to us.
[00:17:28] You woke us up this morning closed in our right mind in activities of our limbs.
[00:17:34] Yes, God.
[00:17:35] Oh, God, and we come to the house of the Lord to worship you.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_10]
[00:17:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:17:39] To throw our hands up and be grateful unto your holy and righteous name.
[00:17:45] Because you is our father.
[00:17:48] Who art in heaven.
[00:17:51] Hallowed be thy name.

[00:24:53] Let us affirm our faith.

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:25:08] The third day he rose from the dead.
[00:25:10] He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, who has joined the church of quick and the dead.
[00:25:18] I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
[00:25:27] Amen.
[00:25:28] You may be seated.

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_11]
[00:25:42] Oh, what prayer can do has brought me concerned about you.
[00:25:57] You need to pray sometime.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:32:11] And then he said, now I got you where I want you.
[00:32:14] Amen, somebody.
[00:32:16] See, that's true for all of us.
[00:32:17] As long as we got money, we feel all right.
[00:32:20] Come on, y'all want to talk to me.
[00:32:22] As long as we feel well, we all right.
[00:32:25] Amen, somebody.
[00:32:26] But when things go bad, then we realize, oh, we need the Lord.
[00:32:29] my dad used to say we treat God like a spare tire you know we keep him in the trunk until we have a flat and then we have a flat then we pull him out of the trunk put him on
[00:32:42] and then when we get the tire fixed we put him back in the trunk I don't need you no more now God I'm alright amen somebody and that's our broken human nature I still say if the church
[00:32:53] ever embrace and understand what I called the deprivation and devastation of sin, we all will do better in trying to seek God more. I really believe that.
[00:33:10] That we ever get that I cannot do right without God. I can do everything, but I cannot please God. Amen, somebody. I cannot please God apart from being saved. And there's a grace of God that
[00:33:25] operates in us amen this choir get me in trouble every Sunday you think I would have learned by now not to let them do that to me amen I'm gonna buy me some not let them do that to me spray or
[00:33:37] juice or something amen y'all pray for me amen we're gonna do with you let's pray gracious father thank you now for this moment and I ask as I come before your people to proclaim the word
[00:33:54] life and truth that you dismiss

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_05]
[00:33:56] oh God and dislodge in and everything unlike you bring me the complete unction and utterance of your spirit so the word that come from my mouth will be those ordained by you speak Lord as your
[00:34:06] servant is listening is in the mighty

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:34:08] and glorious name of Jesus the Christ we pray amen praise for the choir amen a wonderful musician amen our ushers our audio tech our Sunday school staff amen aim for yourselves amen give God some praise and I pray a warrior
[00:34:26] amen and first lady amen

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:34:29] and your pastor amen

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:34:32] amen I've been giving God some praise but myself now some of these Sundays we just give God some praise for the people amen somebody if you know anything about me I love people I really do
[00:34:48] my wife can tell you and it disturbs me when I see people taking advantage of I don't care what color they are I really mean that in all my heart you know when we bother
[00:35:03] people police brutality I don't care what it is it's disturbing to me amen and I don't like to see it amen alright let's get right on into this lesson this morning it is my intent to give you
[00:35:23] a summary than the one we just did about those lessons that I covered last week.
[00:35:31] And it's something to be, we really need to pay attention to those lessons because we go through stuff and sometimes we don't capitalize or learn from what we've been through.
[00:35:45] If God allows us to go through something, he is teaching us something.
[00:35:50] That's why you hear me say, take the devil out the picture because the devil can't do jack to me unless God allows it.
[00:35:58] So I'm not going to spend a second of my time rebuking the devil because if Satan put his hands on me, God allowed him to do it.
[00:36:06] So I got to ask God the question, Lord, why am I going through this or why are you taking me through this?
[00:36:12] And God may answer or he may not answer.
[00:36:14] He may just say, trust me.
[00:36:17] Amen, somebody.
[00:36:18] That's why we sing this song.
[00:36:19] We understand it better when?
[00:36:22] By what?
[00:36:23] By.
[00:36:24] later on. I don't get it right now.
[00:36:26] God, I don't know why I'm going through this. God, I don't understand.
[00:36:30] I try to do everything you ask me to do. Why am I going through this storm? There are times you will not see it until you get on the other side. Then you say, now
[00:36:40] I see why, God. Thank you for the storm that you took me through.
[00:36:47] I mean, come on, Trey. I'm sorry I'm not a prosper. I can tell y'all a lot of stuff people want to hear. And they have you jumping up on your feet and doing somersaults and cartwheels and
[00:36:56] and all kind of stuff up in here.
[00:36:59] Just tell folk what they want to hear.
[00:37:01] No, you got to go through some stuff.
[00:37:05] Everybody got to go through some stuff.
[00:37:08] Everybody will go through the storms of life.
[00:37:12] Nobody's exempted.
[00:37:14] But when I go through my storms, teaching, I'll make this one statement and then moving on to this text.
[00:37:24] Remember when Joseph went through all that stuff, God showed Joseph the vision about his rise to power, even his brothers were going to bow to him and his mother and father and all of that
[00:37:34] stuff like that, where life went opposite for Joseph.
[00:37:38] With him moving up, Joseph went down.
[00:37:41] Come on somebody, huh?
[00:37:43] And they said the deeper and taller a building would be, the bigger it would be, they had to dig deeper for the foundation first. So they go down then they bring it up. Are y'all with me church?
[00:37:53] And that's like with us. You go down first and then God takes you up.
[00:37:58] and so anyway so all that stuff joseph went through and in the end his brother solomon slavery all that kind of stuff like that at first they threatened to kill him that's what they were
[00:38:08] going to do except reuben stopped them come here church don't tell me nothing about family folks some are wonderful but some get on your nerves well i know there's not two in north carolina i'm talking about in alabama where i came from this whole state is free from family folk causing
[00:38:29] problem. But I got to say this, but in the end that old man Jacob had died, so the brother said, now where did Joseph pay us back for all the mess we did to him? So let's
[00:38:43] go to Joseph and say, now Joseph, daddy said, which they would laugh, treat us good. Don't pay us back for all the mess we did. Forgive us. And Joseph cried. Honestly, he wept. They thought he was vindictive.
[00:39:00] so he said to them you meant harm you meant to destroy me but God meant it for good that's all I'm trying to say when Satan want to bother us or folk want to do stuff to us

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:39:19] they may mean harm no question about it I'm on Satan and your enemies knowing that if you're a child of God he allows it for your good and to save others

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:39:40] see this is the true gospel so you know we got folks thinking that you just praise him and dance and serve and do all these things you're not going to go through anything enemies shall come from you
[00:39:55] in one direction they shall flee from seven yeah the word says that too let's get out of here thank God for this world famous so people that are on cyberspace virtual platform want to sing like this come enrolled in the
[00:40:11] pastor of the world famous school of music.
[00:40:15] Amen. But I seriously and sincerely, they're just gifted with music and we appreciate the gift that they bring. Amen.
[00:40:23] There's so many people here who can sing so well and we're so blessed.
[00:40:27] Because let's talk about the church that changed the world.
[00:40:32] And y'all was all into it this morning in Sunday school.
[00:40:36] God's ultimate intent for the nation of Israel is where people miss it.
[00:40:42] right there. He had a reason for calling Israel as a nation.
[00:40:50] Not as being favorite, but as a vessel, as an institute. In other words, he said, I'm going to use you and make you into a great nation, and so that you don't get the big head
[00:41:06] and think you did it and it's by yourself. I'll take an old man and an old woman

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:41:14] that don't have children and they're past childbearing age at least Sarah was

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:41:23] and I'll use them and be a holy and great nation out of them and they shall keep my word and they will

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:41:36] draw the attention of the world through them that's what God intends for the church that's why we can't well does it I deny that a witness to the world, if I act like the world.
[00:41:59] The world does this, but the church does this.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:42:03] The world will pay you back evil for evil, but the church will love those that do the wrong.
[00:42:11] The difference.
[00:42:13] And even in Deuteronomy, the fourth chapter, I want to read it because it says this.
[00:42:18] Moses said, see, I have taught you the laws and decrees as the Lord, the God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to possess or take possession of.
[00:42:30] Observe. Now watch this. Watch this, church.
[00:42:32] Verse 6, 4th chapter, verse 6.
[00:42:35] Observe them carefully for this will show your wisdom and understanding

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:42:42] to the nation.
[00:42:47] That's our witness. And we do things God's way.
[00:42:53] See, God cannot be glorified and honored unless I do it His way.
[00:42:58] because he want to show the world that his mind makes all in the world if i act like you become

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:43:09] worldless like the world worldly it is said that satan knows he cannot drive the church out of the world what he seeks to do is drive the world into the church so there's no difference between the
[00:43:22] world and the church that's an old saying he knows he can't drive the church out of the world but he got a trick up his sleeve I'll have them doing the same thing the world does
[00:43:35] now there's no difference you don't want to talk to me this morning that's why you can only be holy by doing something different okay so let me just hold on then this will be the nation's response they got to say this
[00:43:50] they will say surely this great nation is wise and understanding what other nation is so great as to have their God near them as the Lord your God is with us.
[00:44:06] That's what God wants.
[00:44:08] So not that he favored us, he didn't favor Israel.
[00:44:12] He just said the church is my presence in the world to show the world is my way and no other way.
[00:44:20] That's what God got on Moses for.
[00:44:23] And he told Moses, watch this, it wasn't because Moses called the folks rebels even though that was wrong.
[00:44:30] And people still do it nowadays They call the folk that N-word.
[00:44:33] I mean, leaders do it.
[00:44:37] You want to talk to me?
[00:44:38] You don't have to.
[00:44:40] I would never call you that.
[00:44:47] But God told Moses, listen carefully, Jerry.
[00:44:50] Moses, the first time he said, hit the rock, water came out.
[00:44:54] And the last time God said, speak to the rock, and Moses hit the rock,

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:44:59] God said, you did not honor me as holy in the promised land.
[00:45:10] God, you didn't honor me as holy.
[00:45:11] Whenever we do things out of sake of God's word, we don't honor God as holy.

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:45:17] See, people think unholy mean doing something evil.
[00:45:25] That's not the greater context of the word.
[00:45:29] The word of God is saying that when you treat, let's just say let's take the Sabbath day.
[00:45:36] When you treat my day like any other day, see what's wrong with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday?
[00:45:43] What's wrong with those days? Nothing, right?
[00:45:46] But God said, when you treat them like you do my day, you have honored me.
[00:45:50] You've not honored me as holy.
[00:45:51] In other words, if you treat something that I have set aside

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:45:55] as holy, and you treat it common, come on somebody, huh?
[00:46:00] Then you've not honored me as holy. You can't treat

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:46:07] the preacher like any kind of people, and I can't treat you any kind of way. Because you're holy.
[00:46:16] Huh? I didn't say all right. I mean like righteous by itself but you're holy and i have to honor you as holy but you have to honor me as holy also and we honor each other as being holy let me move away from that and so first we got
[00:46:37] to know what the definition of the church is what is the church now we're good when i say we again i'm generalizing and when i say that again truly i'm not speaking to the local church
[00:46:47] is the church body in general. We're good at doing church, but can I just teach it? We don't know how to be the church.
[00:47:03] That's a difference.
[00:47:05] A major difference.
[00:47:07] We can do the church's stuff.
[00:47:10] Huh? When it's when it rise, when it sit. Amen.
[00:47:15] Like y'all was giving me that high because I hadn't got to do the Apostle's Creed. What's wrong with you, man? Don't you know we're giving the Apostle's Creed now? And we know to sing the hymns, the songs of Zion.
[00:47:26] We know a good sermon.
[00:47:28] I hope we do when we hear it. Amen, somebody.
[00:47:31] You know, we like good preaching, good singing, all of that.
[00:47:34] That's good. I'm in a good fellowship.
[00:47:36] Amen. That's good.
[00:47:37] And I had a good lunch yesterday. If you missed it, you just missed it. Amen.
[00:47:41] But it was very good. I enjoyed myself.
[00:47:43] I even had two half sandwiches.
[00:47:48] Amen.
[00:47:49] Normally I wouldn't eat one, but I had two yesterday. Somebody help me out.
[00:47:53] I won't call no names.
[00:47:54] I looked like I wanted a nugget, and then I knew they were bringing me one.
[00:48:03] I'm looking in this direction.
[00:48:06] I called no name.
[00:48:07] Did y'all see me call a name?
[00:48:09] It got on blue.
[00:48:13] I looked like I was like, Pastor, you want another sandwich?
[00:48:16] I'm trying to make up my mind.
[00:48:18] I said, well, I'll go get it.
[00:48:20] And then I know it was on my plate.
[00:48:22] Okay, all right.
[00:48:24] It was good.
[00:48:24] I really appreciate it.
[00:48:25] It was good, very good.
[00:48:27] But church, I'm trying to say something.
[00:48:28] And this is what I'm saying.
[00:48:29] You're special.
[00:48:31] I didn't say we're all perfect.
[00:48:32] everybody got some jacked upness and sometimes it comes out y'all been talking everybody have a bad hair day sometimes how holy you are you have a bad day sometimes some day folk get on your nerves

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:48:54] and you let them know they got on your nerves and you give them a piece of your mind

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:49:01] and it ain't always pleasant see I'm like this let me tell you who my personality is I observe stuff and I'll take it and I'll take it and I do that intentionally but I tell people this
[00:49:17] don't back me up in the corner I say you know why because I'm going to come out clawing like a cat and I believe that's how God is I mean really that's why God takes stuff
[00:49:43] he's very patient and he takes stuff and he takes stuff then the day comes he says that's enough that will happen in a lot of relationships sometimes especially with women being mistreated they wake up
[00:49:56] they may take about 40 years and they wake up one day that 40 first 40 years and the first day after that I'm not taking it anymore y'all don't tell you to speak to it
[00:50:11] because we all have a point that we'll say okay that's enough and everybody got it some folks just like that all the time amen the legal thing you say to them they fly off the handle and some of us it takes a while but
[00:50:24] i'm trying to make a point church god made us holy and we are holy see here's what they were the church the word first of all it goes to the old testament but i'm not going to talk about
[00:50:35] that right now they call it the assembly or the people of god or the name but here's what it really means called out ones can i get the three young ladies can i get y'all to come all right
[00:50:45] let's come on up for a second let me show you what God means so that's symbolic come on it's teaching now so they were in the world now salvation God called them

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:50:58] that was salvation he called them but when he called he ain't go with power to draw them come on somebody that's why nobody can be saved by themselves it's God drawing us unto himself So they came because they were called up here.
[00:51:20] That's what salvation is.
[00:51:23] And when God called you from there to here, he made you holy because he separated you from them.
[00:51:30] That's why it's an act of God.
[00:51:34] I say it's an act of God.
[00:51:36] It's not my righteousness nor yours.
[00:51:39] It's the calling of God on our lives.
[00:51:42] It saves us.
[00:51:43] Why are they up here?
[00:51:45] Because the truth is, they wouldn't even have the power to get up except for the grace of God that gave them the power or lifted them up off their seats to come up here.
[00:51:56] That's why they're up here.

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:51:58] Thank you very much.
[00:52:00] Y'all give them a tip, Dr. Church.
[00:52:04] It doesn't make sense, church?
[00:52:06] So the word church, exklesia, a Greek word, the called out ones.
[00:52:13] Those whom God had called out.
[00:52:17] But it's the grace of God.
[00:52:18] All this is part of our church doctrine.
[00:52:20] That's why we ought to know it.
[00:52:22] That's why John Wesley taught what he called a concept where I just described prevenient grace.
[00:52:28] There's a measure of grace that will enable them to come.
[00:52:32] First of all, without what he called prevenient grace and what the scripture teach, they couldn't even hear me.
[00:52:41] when I said come up here.
[00:52:42] They wouldn't even hear a word.
[00:52:44] Not only had the power to get up to come, they wouldn't even hear it.
[00:52:48] Then I'd be calling on them.
[00:52:49] They'd be sitting there all day.
[00:52:51] Huh?
[00:52:52] I promise that's what we mean by grace.
[00:52:54] See, grace, we just make it one-dimensional.
[00:52:57] We don't give the full scope of what grace really means.
[00:53:00] Grace is everything.
[00:53:02] And it's the power of God that reaches us wherever we are.

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:53:07] Come on, somebody, huh?
[00:53:08] I said it reaches us wherever we are.
[00:53:12] It causes us to move where we cannot move by ourselves.
[00:53:16] That's why it's the anointing that breaks the yoke and the power of sin.
[00:53:21] You can't do it.
[00:53:22] I can't do it.
[00:53:23] But it's God's deliverance of us.
[00:53:28] That's the power of the church.
[00:53:29] Go right back to the song.
[00:53:30] Lift them up.
[00:53:32] And I'll do what?
[00:53:33] Draw.
[00:53:34] Same thing.
[00:53:35] I'll draw.
[00:53:36] That's what he's saying about the church.
[00:53:39] The church draws the lost.

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:53:42] He doesn't mean necessarily to the building.
[00:53:45] Wherever we go, people are drawn to us.
[00:53:48] Now some of us experience that on the job.
[00:53:51] Folks always coming to you when they have problems.
[00:53:54] Come on, y'all.
[00:53:55] I know I'm right about it, huh?
[00:53:56] Other times they don't care nothing about you They don't want your advice Don't need your advice Not going to ask for your advice But let hell break out in their lives

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:54:05] And do you know why?
[00:54:08] Because others may be in darkness But they see a light And they're drawn to the light

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:54:12] And it's fixed that way We was in a family reunion I ended up feeling like this Less than smaller than that And we were sitting down at Panera Bread At the table Planning for the reunion
[00:54:31] here comes this guy walking in you know when people come to you and I didn't want to be bothered I didn't I'd be transparent with you I had bad days too so and so he came directly
[00:54:43] to me and all the folks in the restaurant and said buy me something to eat and my cousin saw I never said a word she saw I didn't want to be bothered and she said watch what she said
[00:54:58] he was drawn to you through the spirit of you

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:55:02] you. Y'all missed that, huh? He was drawn to you because of the spirit that's in you. And I felt

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:55:10] so small. I used to have an employee, so he helped me go. I didn't know until I left the company why he was always coming to me, you know, going to explain his stuff, his challenges on the job,
[00:55:33] et cetera. And then he had some health challenges. And I didn't know until when I got company and And he wrote me this nice letter and he let me know that when I was going through this, when I was going through this, when I was going through this, I sucked you out.
[00:55:49] Y'all hear the church?
[00:55:51] See, God wants to give you light.
[00:55:52] That's why you strategically place where you are.
[00:55:57] I'm going to be wrecking all of those heathen, unsaved folks.
[00:56:01] What, you think you're in a sanctuary?
[00:56:02] I'm going to send you out there and I'm going to work.
[00:56:06] Let your light shine.
[00:56:11] Can you help me, somebody?
[00:56:13] So they can see what the song says.
[00:56:15] Let the world.
[00:56:18] Y'all just saw it.
[00:56:18] I know what to say, I'm going to get you to say it Let the world work In you

[00:56:23] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:56:23] The Savior see That's it, that's why it's so important Can't see Christ in us And be drawn to us We are his witnesses

[00:56:38] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:56:38] And we don't always have to say a word People know when you're not supposed to be What you are

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[00:56:45] Come on somebody You trying to club and party

[00:56:50] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:56:50] And know you're supposed to be at church the next morning And they're going to look like you can't even dance right because they know I'm just being real people can pick up on that because you're a child of God
[00:57:04] I didn't say you're perfect all of us got issues all of us got failures and shortcomings but you know I don't have time to talk about it today but really so we operate in our gifts
[00:57:13] we cover up each other's faults so the world never sees it we'll see each other's faults and failures but the world will never see it all they know they see perfection come on somebody that's why we all operate
[00:57:25] in our gifts every somebody so they don't see any imperfections at all but all they see is the power and excellency of God working through the church because that's what the church is and while I was on and close up with this
[00:57:41] so we got to know what the church is the called out one or you can say the holy people that's not

[00:57:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:57:47] holiness in this case it's not by practice it's by position all I did was left outside the world and came in the church. I gave y'all

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:57:59] this illustration that when I was growing up people had they had chickens and they would eat chickens off the yard.
[00:58:09] I hate to spoil your appetite if you're having chicken. A chicken eating anything. How many of y'all know that?
[00:58:17] So what they would do I got an illustration in PowerPoint I'll show you in a minute. They had a little special pen and they would catch the chicken, put it in their little special pen
[00:58:28] and maybe for let's just say two weeks or so whatever and now they feed the chicken so that to keep the chicken from eating anything on the yard they feed the chicken only what they want the chicken to have
[00:58:40] to what they call clean the chicken out oh y'all hear from the church huh well honestly watch this that's what God pulls us out of the world he put us in the church and he feeds us the word
[00:58:53] that he may clean us out come on somebody huh that he may wash us and cleanse us by the word of God huh so now I'm fit to be you but all of us came in the church jacked up I got

[00:59:11] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:59:11] booed like a baby I'm just born but you got a lot of Google

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[00:59:15] stuff on you so one like I said I call it the description of the church what definition of the church action is for the definition but I need to give you this one too that goes with that but I church to find it like this the visible
[00:59:44] we'll come back to later the visible Church of Christ it's a congregation of faithful people where the pure word of God is preached and the sacraments are duly administered. We are a word and sacrament
[00:59:58] centered church and you will find that in the scripture that was read earlier. That's what the church did. We hang our hat there. We understand when we ordain as elders in the church is we are given this charge.

[01:00:13] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[01:00:13] The only charge we're given, now watch this.
[01:00:15] Take thou authority as an elder in the church to preach the word of God and to administer the sacraments in the church.
[01:00:26] That's my job.
[01:00:29] But all of the ministries springs out of the word being preached.
[01:00:36] Help me somebody, huh?
[01:00:37] And the sacraments being administered.
[01:00:40] Because God blesses, delivers us and blesses us through the word and sacraments.

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:00:52] A lot of folk got us doing stuff and how you're going to get blessed but you never get the blessing.
[01:00:57] And you're not going to get them that way.
[01:00:59] You got to do what he told us to do.
[01:01:01] Only those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the course of our God.
[01:01:06] God wants you to flourish.
[01:01:07] Let me say that again.
[01:01:09] God wants us to flourish.
[01:01:10] But you're going to flourish his way.
[01:01:12] Like I said, I'm not trying to make you shout now.
[01:01:15] When you get to a higher place in life, you're going to be walking up and down the road and so a shouting folk are going to think you're crazy because you just now it just came to fruition

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[01:01:24] and you realize how what was said and when that's why I don't pastor and preach for you to say thank you you may not like what I got to say and preach right now I don't care about that
[01:01:35] I want you delivered I want you blessed I want you to flourish in the court of our God sometime you got to take a shot

[01:01:46] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_09]
[01:01:46] oh you don't talk to me

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[01:01:50] shots don't feel good but they give it to me so i feel good later i got to do some pain sometimes to church that's like a true man to stand flat footed and bold and preach the word of god that's
[01:02:12] what we call it we believe we call it the poor pit pull you out of the pit does that this is

[01:02:24] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:02:24] what we're called to do amen no usually you appreciate people after they're gone people those that got to parents still with you I do I really believe you appreciate them but let me tell you something
[01:02:39] you appreciate them a whole lot more when they check out I'll say that again I think I was very good to my father in the ministry you have an idea I wish he was still here
[01:02:52] you know why so I can thank him some more I always took him out to father's day dinner always always he'll tell you I didn't hear a good son in the ministry but guess what the older I get
[01:03:07] the more I realize the value he had in my life.
[01:03:11] Are y'all with me, church?
[01:03:13] And I'm just befamilial because I already sold them.
[01:03:15] My fear was when parents check out, the children don't get together like they used to.
[01:03:21] So you got somebody, you better say thank you.

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[01:03:29] Don't wait until the end.
[01:03:31] See, a lot of times folk be boo-hooing and tearing up the church.
[01:03:34] It's guilt because I didn't do them right while they were living.
[01:03:38] Amen, somebody.
[01:03:40] You don't have to like them.
[01:03:41] you don't have to like what they say but you better honor them because God chose them to bring you to the earth whether they did what they did or not do it he still let them
[01:03:53] bring you into this world

[01:03:55] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:03:55] I got to close it right there I wanted to talk about the purpose of the church what I've said and you know what it is to make disciples we just said it yesterday come on somebody
[01:04:08] to make disciples I mean they're not a disciple we got to make disciples but church is afraid of that word huh well they think they gotta do no in fact i got a message in it it's in the being that the
[01:04:24] doing gets done the focus of making disciple is concentrating on making sure i am a disciple but to the degree that jesus taught now there are different greek words for a disciple because everybody said i'm a disciple what they mean i'm trying to follow christ okay there's one definition
[01:04:42] there are many others and most of them use it Matthew 28 it is to bind yourself to become like the person you missed it huh so Jesus is my goal and my target and I'm trying to do
[01:04:57] all I can to be like Christ I don't consider myself to have arrived and I'm satisfied how I am until I reach perfection like Jesus Christ which I won't do on this side to join but I want to get as close to Christ as close to Christ as I can so
[01:05:17] I'm scribing and I'm screening and I'm running and I'm doing everything that I can because I want to be like Jesus to every degree that's the greater word

[01:05:27] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[01:05:27] that's used in the Bible for disciple not just a student I can be a student and stay in the first grade forever aren't you a student move on to get promoted to the second grade and third grade and fourth grade so I'm gonna let people say we

[01:05:55] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:05:55] make ourselves any trigger make them say what they want to say I'm looking at one thing how many souls are being saved and how many people are really giving themselves to discipleship because that's what it's all about but that's
[01:06:09] what Jesus said to go in all the world and make that where people do hide behind the turn because they're afraid and we don't understand you afraid to do it because we don't understand the concept
[01:06:21] of it. The concept is for me to be discipled to focus on growing the discipline of studying and praying. Amen somebody huh?
[01:06:31] I used to have a magnet. I don't have one with me right now but I have one through. I use a magnet and a piece of metal and I said watch this the magnet will draw the metal
[01:06:40] huh? So the magnet don't have to worry about drawing the metal all it needs to do is be a magnet.
[01:06:48] Are y'all with me church?
[01:06:49] and so it's in the being that the doing gets done, it's in being a disciple that we make disciples because I can't make who I'm not amen somebody huh and that's what our church teaches us to do, if we understand
[01:07:06] focus on being a disciple and start worrying about I'm afraid, I'm ashamed listen, don't even focus on that at all that's not the context of the church amen somebody it's all about focusing on being what
[01:07:23] Christ has made me to be and when I'm being that others are drawn like a magnet amen amen and so I didn't even touch on the church but that's what the church is called to do so I'll
[01:07:39] summarize it not just I'm not even summarizing I'm just going to say that so you can go away with part of it in your mind the other thing but one of the dominant things is the church is called
[01:07:49] The church is called and designed to be God's change agents in the world.
[01:07:59] Amen, somebody.
[01:08:01] Amen.
[01:08:03] Change the way others, whether it's what I did, they're transformed.
[01:08:08] That's what we call it today.
[01:08:10] Amen?
[01:08:11] I say amen?
[01:08:12] Amen.
[01:08:13] Y'all say amen.
[01:08:13] I won't say another, I won't give another point.
[01:08:16] If you say amen like you really mean it.
[01:08:18] Amen.
[01:08:18] You don't halfway mean it.
[01:08:21] give me a real amen alright now well that's what I'm talking about y'all sit there with too much enthusiasm no they're joking that's a joke that's a joke but I'm very serious about church being a church
[01:08:35] amen we got work to do this is a jacked up world amen and brother Jeff said it this morning and he don't like what he sees I don't like what I see I hope you don't like what you see
[01:08:51] and I'm telling you and I'm going to say this don't think there would not be another effort to put us back in slavery but here's why I say that this nation has never repented as a nation
[01:09:10] which means they got the same mindset and there are those in like Nebraska or some of those states out there like that asking the president to make us come work their fields I'm serious about that. Make us
[01:09:25] come do it. And don't forget certain jobs in somebody's mind are black jobs.

[01:09:34] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[01:09:34] Forget that. And don't

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:09:42] forget what the president, I already knew it, but what's his name?
[01:09:46] Fred Price. He did a lot with this stuff many years ago before he passed on.
[01:09:51] And he quoted Lincoln, which most of you already know.
[01:09:55] His top priority was not freeing the slaves.
[01:10:00] You do know that, right?
[01:10:01] his top priority were preserving the union so he said this if i can preserve the union and keep them as slaves i'll do it if i can preserve the union and free them i would do it
[01:10:20] if i can preserve the nation by letting some of them remain slaves and some of them becoming free I would do it. Y'all get quiet. If this ain't the gospel I don't know what is. So I just say keep in mind
[01:10:47] nothing has, the mindset is still the same. And there are some, there always have been some for us.
[01:11:01] The Underground Railroad comprised of white people too.
[01:11:04] But y'all hear me church? That helped us to become free. That's true.
[01:11:11] But I'm saying the nation has not changed its mind.
[01:11:14] amen why you think they want to take it out of the history books or have do you know we worked with a gentleman that never knew that we were slaves in this country until he started working with us
[01:11:31] a white person they don't keep it away from them it's on purpose to make the world think we're just lazy and bad people why you think someone don't think that so we invite everybody under the sound of my voice
[01:11:58] now or later to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
[01:12:05] That Christ comes in and when he comes in our hearts, he changes who we are.
[01:12:10] Amen, somebody.
[01:12:12] You turn our lives around.
[01:12:14] Amen, look how precious.
[01:12:15] Amen.
[01:12:16] I got one soldier.
[01:12:17] You always got one soldier.
[01:12:19] Amen.
[01:12:20] The invitation is extended to receive Jesus.
[01:12:22] Rededicate your life.
[01:12:23] Unite with Christ for the first time.
[01:12:25] Rededicate Yourself

[01:19:36] You know what I'm saying?

[01:20:26] Amen.
[01:20:27] Their birthday.

[01:20:29] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_10]
[01:20:29] I was singing, but they drowned me out.

[01:20:59] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_06]
[01:20:59] that's what I was afraid was going to happen amen so y'all pray for the choir alright let me know but seriously I love you we thank God for you thank you and we're looking forward
[01:21:13] to God taking us higher amen somebody there's a lot of things I know from I knew in general because I've always had traveled to church but especially being in the position that I'm in you get to see
[01:21:27] things first hand and hear from people first hand and so you know what's happening across the church but it's not just Zion when we gather in other spaces they're going through the same thing so help me God they're going through the same thing
[01:21:43] that we're going through there's no difference amen and so I leave all of that where it is so let us do the benediction and now unto him who's able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless
[01:22:01] before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy to the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty dominion and power now and forever let the saints of God say have a blessed one
