🧐 Overview
Sermon Summary: This sermon explores one of Jesus' most challenging invitations: the call to 'come and die daily.' It unpacks the meaning of true discipleship, contrasting the world's expectation of a crown with the biblical reality of carrying a cross, urging believers to surrender every area of life to the Lordship of Christ.
Big Idea: Jesus' invitation to come and die daily, embracing the cost that comes with our confession. [00:15:56 ▶️ 📄]
Pastoral Analysis: The sermon provides a sound exposition of Luke 9:18-26, correctly framing the central tension between the disciples' expectation of a political Messiah (the crown) and Jesus' actual mission of suffering and sacrifice (the cross). The application to daily sanctification and self-denial is clear, pastoral, and biblically grounded. While the teaching on the Christian life is strong, the soteriological invitation at the conclusion could be strengthened by more clearly articulating God's sovereign role in regeneration to avoid any potential for a decisionist interpretation.
Biblical Parallel(Archetype): Philadelphia — The sermon faithfully preaches the high cost of discipleship from the text, calling for daily self-denial and submission to Christ's Lordship with pastoral warmth and clarity.
🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard
Overall Verdict: Biblically Sound
| Category | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Soteriology | ⚠️ WEAK | The invitation to salvation focuses heavily on the human act of confession ('you make your moment of confession') and frames the Spirit's work as a response to a human request. It lacks a clear articulation of God's sovereign, monergistic work of regeneration that precedes and enables faith, bordering on decisionism. |
| Bibliology | ✅ PASS | The sermon is grounded in the biblical text of Luke 9, treating Scripture as the final and sufficient authority for the message. |
| Hermeneutic | ✅ PASS | The pastor correctly interprets the passage within its redemptive-historical context, contrasting the disciples' expectation of a political crown with Christ's call to a sacrificial cross. This avoids moralism and connects the disciple's life to Christ's work. |
| Theology Proper | ✅ PASS | The sermon affirms the deity of Christ as 'the Christ of God' and acknowledges the Father's sovereign role in revealing this truth to believers. |
| Sacramentology | ⚪ N/A | No sacraments were observed or discussed in the provided transcript. |

✅ Commendations
Hermeneutics | Faithful Redemptive-Historical Exegesis
You did an excellent job establishing the core tension of the passage: the disciples' misguided expectation of an earthly crown versus Jesus' true mission of the cross. This is the key to unlocking the text and you handled it with clarity.
Sanctification | Christ-Centered Call to Discipleship
Your call to 'come and die daily' was powerfully presented not as a joyless duty or a form of moralism, but as the logical and necessary response to confessing Jesus as Lord. You rightly connected our sanctification to His identity and work.
Application | Clear and Memorable Application
The closing challenge to choose between a 'crown' mindset and a 'cross' mindset each morning is a practical, powerful, and memorable application that equips the congregation for the Christian walk.
🧠 Questions for Reflection
Use these questions for personal study or small group discussion:
- The pastor said that who you say Jesus is is 'life's biggest question.' How would you have answered Jesus' question to his disciples: 'Who do you say that I am?'
- This sermon focused on the 'cost' of following Jesus. What do you think that cost is, and does the promise of eternal life seem worth that cost to you?

[00:01:55] I know things are a little different today, but I want to encourage you.
[00:01:58] The church is not a building.
[00:02:00] And so as we sit in our homes, I think of
[00:02:02] All around the world today where people worship the Lord in their basements, sometimes in fear, persecution, and today we still have the liberty to sing and to worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
[00:02:14] So can we join together?
[00:02:15] And I'm going to ask, if you don't mind, would you just stand in reverence to the Lord as we sing together just a beautiful song straight from Isaiah 6.
[00:02:25] My prayer this morning is that we all just get a vision of the Lord and who He is and our response to Him is awe.
[00:02:31] and Wonder.
[00:02:33] So let's sing together.
[00:02:33] I saw the Lord seated on his throne.
[00:02:52] He was clothed in glory.
[00:02:59] Exalted high In the train of His robe Filled the temple And the angels circled around Him
[00:03:27] and they cried they cried you are holy oh so holy you are
[00:03:53] Holy Lord of all Sing you are holy and they cry you are holy oh so holy you are holy
[00:04:22] Lord of all And I saw the Lord Seated on this throne He was robed in glory Exalted high
[00:04:55] and the train of his robe filled the temple and the angels circled around him and they cried oh they cried they sing you
[00:05:32] Holy, you are holy, Lord of all We sing you are holy, we sing in
[00:06:00] Holy, you are holy, Lord of all
[00:06:32] May we never get tired of worshiping Him.
[00:06:34] Somehow I never get so telling You're holy Somehow I never get so telling You're lovely Somehow I never get so telling You're worthy For as long as I live
[00:06:59] I'll never get tired of giving you praise Somehow I never get so telling you you're holy Somehow I never get so telling you you're lovely Somehow I never get so telling you you're worthy For as long as I live
[00:07:27] I'll never get tired of giving you praise Somehow I never get sold telling you you're holy Somehow I never get sold telling you you're lovely Somehow I never get sold telling you you're worthy For as long as I live
[00:07:55] I'll never get tired of giving you praise Oh, we give you praise You're worthy
[00:08:23] What else could I say?
[00:08:31] I'm still amazed by you What else can I say?
[00:08:45] I'm still amazed by you
[00:08:52] What else can I say?
[00:09:00] I'm still amazed by you There's nothing left to say I'm still amazed by you
[00:09:25] Singing you are holy, oh so holy, and you are holy Lord of all.
[00:09:50] One more time, just your voices.
[00:09:54] They cry, You are holy, O soul, holy You are holy, Lord of all
[00:10:27] We just thank you, Lord, that we are able to worship you this morning.
[00:10:30] God, that you're worthy of all honor, all praise, all power belong to you, Lord Jesus.
[00:10:35] And we thank you that we have the opportunity to be together, even in the midst of this storm, to worship you, our Lord, our Savior, our friend, our King, our Counselor.
[00:10:46] And Lord, as we continue to worship you this morning, I pray that you continue to move and that you'd bless Pastor David, anoint him as he brings your word this morning, that we would
[00:10:57] Listen well, that we be obedient to your Holy Spirit's direction, Lord.
[00:11:01] Have your way in us and through us.
[00:11:03] And all God's people said, Amen.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]:
Church family, if you've got your Bibles, let's open them up to Luke chapter 9.
[00:11:10] Luke chapter 9.
[00:11:11] We're in week 4 of this series called Invitations from Jesus, starting our new year with Him.
[00:11:17] And in week 1, Pastor Garrett brought the Word.
[00:11:20] And he talked about three different invitations from Jesus, three personal invites from the Savior of the world.
[00:11:26] The first he said, come and see.
[00:11:28] Come and explore the claims about Jesus.
[00:11:30] He is who He said He is and He's not threatened by you coming to investigate Him.
[00:11:35] In fact, He wants that.
[00:11:36] He wants you to come and see that He is who He said He is.
[00:11:38] Then once you've decided to come and see, the second invitation is to come and follow me.
[00:11:43] And so he invites us not just to have an intellectual pursuit of him, but to really give him our whole hearts and lives.
[00:11:49] And so we want to follow him as our Savior and Lord.
[00:11:51] And then when we're followers of Jesus, he gives a third invitation.
[00:11:54] Pastor Garrett talked about come and be, come and become fishers of men.
[00:11:59] Join God in His purpose and His mission.
[00:12:01] Then week two we talked about coming and experiencing the generosity of God.
[00:12:06] Jesus' invitation to us is to come and experience the generosity of God, the generosity of God's forgiveness, His love, His mercy.
[00:12:14] And then once you've experienced the generosity of God, He never wants us to keep it to ourselves.
[00:12:18] So the invitation is come, experience the generosity of God, then extend that generosity to other people.
[00:12:25] Then last week we talked about
[00:12:27] Two invitations from Jesus.
[00:12:29] He says, come and drink.
[00:12:31] There's no substitute to satisfy your soul.
[00:12:33] You can try to fill up that God-shaped hole inside of you by pleasure or you can do it by success.
[00:12:41] But whatever substitute you try to fill that place up with, it's meant for Jesus himself.
[00:12:48] And so he said, come, come and drink from the waters of life and out of you will flow rivers of living water.
[00:12:54] It's the only way to true fulfillment and satisfaction.
[00:12:57] We close out by looking in Revelation where he's talking to specifically believers.
[00:13:00] He says, come and dine that every day the Lord of the universe stands at your door and knocks.
[00:13:09] And he says, hey, can we spend some time together?
[00:13:12] I don't want like a quick rush through meal, but can we spend some time together?
[00:13:16] True, intimate fellowship.
[00:13:18] And so the invitation was don't let anything distract you, disturb you, distress you, keep you from dining with Jesus this week.
[00:13:26] Well, today we are going to open in Luke chapter 9 for what I think is probably the toughest invitation from Jesus.
[00:13:33] This is the toughest invitation from Jesus there is, but I think it's also the most special.
[00:13:39] And it's a time where Jesus sort of takes the thinking of the disciples and flips it on its head.
[00:13:45] So I don't know how many of you have ever been waiting for a big announcement.
[00:13:49] Can you relate to that?
[00:13:50] You've been waiting for a big announcement.
[00:13:52] Some of you, you've been waiting for the announcement, I really feel like we should be more than friends, right?
[00:13:58] Like I really had a crush on you for such a long time.
[00:14:01] Or for some of you who are dating, you're waiting on that big announcement to come, we're engaged, right?
[00:14:08] Some of you who have kids who are grown and gone, they have
[00:14:11] They've already gotten married and you're waiting on that big announcement to come.
[00:14:17] Guess what?
[00:14:18] You're going to be a nana and a papa, right?
[00:14:21] Some of us are waiting on big announcements.
[00:14:23] Well, the disciples in Luke chapter 9 had been waiting on a big announcement.
[00:14:27] They knew who Jesus was.
[00:14:29] And they wanted the whole world to know who Jesus was.
[00:14:32] They were ready to set up this kingdom where He would rule and He would reign.
[00:14:37] But Jesus has been waiting to make the announcement public.
[00:14:42] And so they've been waiting this whole time for Jesus to say, I am who you know that I am.
[00:14:47] But Jesus actually takes this time for the big announcement and then He flips their thinking on its head.
[00:14:57] In the midst of the big announcement, in the midst of the big confession, what the disciples think is going to happen is that a crown is going to follow.
[00:15:05] They're going to have this big moment of confession and there's going to be a crown that comes from Jesus and he's going to be crowned king.
[00:15:12] He's going to defeat the Romans.
[00:15:13] He's going to kick everybody out and then they're going to get crowns and rule and reign alongside Jesus.
[00:15:19] In fact, they're already picking out which thrones they're going to rule over.
[00:15:24] But little do they know
[00:15:26] That instead of the confession coming with a crown, Jesus looks at them and says that the confession is going to come with a cross.
[00:15:35] Instead of coming with a crown to rule and reign, the confession is going to come with a cross that costs them something.
[00:15:43] So if you've got your Bibles, let's look at this invitation from Jesus.
[00:15:46] This is week four.
[00:15:48] Maybe if you're taking notes, you just want to jot this down.
[00:15:50] Here's his invitation.
[00:15:51] Jesus' invitation to come and die
[00:15:56] Daily.
[00:15:57] Not just to come and die once, but His invitation is to come and die daily.
[00:16:03] Come and die daily.
[00:16:04] And here's what that looks like.
[00:16:05] He wants us to embrace the cost that comes with our confession.
[00:16:11] So here's his invitation.
[00:16:12] Come and die daily.
[00:16:14] He wants you to embrace the cost that comes with your confession.
[00:16:18] So look at what it says in Luke chapter 9.
[00:16:21] Jesus is just on the miracle of feeding the 5,000.
[00:16:23] Now they've taken a trip.
[00:16:24] They're up in a Gentile area, Caesarea Philippi.
[00:16:29] They're actually outside of a temple of
[00:16:31] A false god named Pan.
[00:16:32] It's where we get our idea of the devil with like the hoofed feet and the horns and the pitchfork.
[00:16:37] And so outside of the most godless place on earth where they did sadistic, sadistic things to worship the god Pan, Jesus decides that this is the moment for the big announcement about his identity.
[00:16:50] But instead of a crown coming next, he wants to let them know there's a cross coming next.
[00:16:56] Look at what he says in Luke 9, verse 18.
[00:16:58] It says,
[00:17:00] He was praying alone and the disciples were here with him.
[00:17:03] And he asked them, Who do the crowds say that I am?
[00:17:05] And they answered, Well, some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others say that you're one of the old prophets that's risen.
[00:17:12] And then he said to them, But who do you say that I am?
[00:17:18] And Peter answered, You are the Christ of God.
[00:17:22] I love this.
[00:17:23] Jesus is with his guys, his best friends that they've spent years together.
[00:17:28] And he looks at them and he says, what are the crowds saying about me?
[00:17:32] You know, the ones that haven't spent tons of time.
[00:17:33] They're like, oh, well, they say that you're the prophet who's coming to prepare the way for the Messiah.
[00:17:38] Or maybe you're one of the great prophets that's been resurrected from the dead.
[00:17:41] Maybe you're a great teacher.
[00:17:43] And then he says, you've spent time with me and you know me.
[00:17:46] You haven't just heard the public things that I teach.
[00:17:48] You've seen me sitting around the campfire at nighttime.
[00:17:51] You've seen me 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
[00:17:54] You know the real me.
[00:17:56] Who do you say that I am?
[00:17:58] I think that's life's biggest question.
[00:18:00] And it's Jesus' personal question for you, for every person watching right now.
[00:18:04] Who do you say that He is?
[00:18:06] Now, the reality is it doesn't matter who you say He is in terms of His identity.
[00:18:12] He is who He says He is regardless of who you say He is.
[00:18:16] You don't say, oh, well, you are the Christ, and then that somehow makes him the Christ.
[00:18:20] He is who he is.
[00:18:22] He is the Christ, the Savior of the world, whether you confess it
[00:18:26] or not you can choose to confess Christ as the Savior of the world or you can choose to confess Christ I don't believe he was the Savior but either way your confession comes at a cost these guys they were so excited they thought okay it's the moment it's the big announcement you're the Christ you're the son of the living God you're the anointed one that God has chosen to bring salvation for us for your people we're going to rule the world bring on the crowns where's the thrones let's set them up
[00:18:56] and Jesus turns it on its head instead of a crown he talks about a cross and a cost look at what it says next look at what it says in verse 21 and says and he strictly charged them and he commanded them not to tell anybody like what do you mean don't tell anybody we're supposed to tell everybody like we're setting up for your kingdom how are they gonna come and take you and make you king how else are we gonna get the crown
[00:19:23] And look at Jesus' explanation.
[00:19:25] I love this.
[00:19:26] Rather than revel in the moment, Jesus goes immediately from confession of His identity to the cost of His identity.
[00:19:35] And in this moment, it's not just a cost for Him, but He wants them to know that there's a cost for them too.
[00:19:43] And so look at what He says.
[00:19:44] Now, they knew that John the Baptist had paid a cost.
[00:19:48] For speaking truth to power, he had lost his head.
[00:19:51] They knew that some of the prophets had experienced a cost for following God, but they never in their wildest dreams thought that the Messiah following God would have to pay a cost.
[00:20:04] They thought, oh, this is the end of all suffering.
[00:20:07] This is when we get elevated.
[00:20:08] We get honored.
[00:20:10] Like we take over the world.
[00:20:11] Everybody comes and bows at our feet.
[00:20:13] He rights every wrong.
[00:20:14] He kicks out all the oppressors.
[00:20:17] Little did they know that for Jesus and also for them, the confession meant embracing a cost.
[00:20:24] Look at what Jesus says to them, verse 22.
[00:20:26] He says, saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected.
[00:20:34] By who?
[00:20:34] By the elders and the chief priests and the scribes.
[00:20:37] And not just suffer and not just be rejected, but to be killed.
[00:20:41] And on the third day He will rise again.
[00:20:43] They look at this and they're like, what do you mean?
[00:20:46] He's going to be rejected by who?
[00:20:48] This word for rejected, it actually means examined under trial.
[00:20:52] They're going to really search out who Jesus is.
[00:20:55] They're going to hear his words and they're going to see his miracles and they're still going to say, we refuse to confess that you are the Savior.
[00:21:04] They're going to reject him.
[00:21:06] And in their mind they're thinking, not just rejected, they're going to kill Him?
[00:21:10] Whoa, this doesn't make sense.
[00:21:13] There's a cost that comes with the confession?
[00:21:17] In the midst of this moment, look at what Jesus says.
[00:21:21] He says in the next verse, verse 23, And He said to all of them, If anyone, if anyone would follow after Me,
[00:21:31] If you're going to walk in my shoes, if you're going to make the confession that I am the Christ and you're going to base your whole life on following me, look at what he says, that there's this invitation to come and what?
[00:21:45] Look at what he says, it's an invitation to come and die.
[00:21:47] He says, verse 23, he said to all, if anyone would come after me, let him do these things.
[00:21:53] What does he say?
[00:21:54] Deny himself.
[00:21:57] He has to deny himself.
[00:21:58] The things that would feel normal, the things that would feel natural, the things that would be like our old way of doing things, you've got to deny that.
[00:22:06] You've got to put it away.
[00:22:08] And not just deny himself.
[00:22:09] What does he say?
[00:22:10] Take up his cross and follow after me.
[00:22:16] But he doesn't just say take up his cross.
[00:22:18] He says take up his cross when?
[00:22:20] Daily.
[00:22:21] and Follow Me.
[00:22:22] Jesus isn't just looking for a one-time confession.
[00:22:25] He's looking for a daily surrender from the people who say they're followers of Him.
[00:22:31] It's not just that you pray a prayer once and then you go and live your life however you want.
[00:22:36] That's not what following Jesus is all about.
[00:22:39] It's not that you get your salvation card and your get out of hell free card and then you just sort of live life where you're seated on a throne and you say, where's my crown?
[00:22:48] I confess that Jesus is the Christ, so bring me my crown.
[00:22:52] No, he says that if you really want to accept his invitation to come and follow him, he says it's come and die daily.
[00:23:01] That you're embracing the cost that comes with your confession.
[00:23:06] Today is not my day.
[00:23:07] It's Jesus' day.
[00:23:09] I don't walk around on a throne.
[00:23:11] I carry a cross.
[00:23:13] It's not my day.
[00:23:14] It's not my dreams.
[00:23:15] It's not my goals.
[00:23:16] It's not what my preferences would be.
[00:23:20] It's how do I accomplish God's plan no matter what it costs me.
[00:23:26] He says,
[00:23:26] This is the invitation to come and die daily.
[00:23:29] Embrace the cost that comes with your confession.
[00:23:34] He says, following Jesus doesn't mean you tote a throne around.
[00:23:38] It's that you carry a cross.
[00:23:40] This is His message to the followers that day, but it's also His message to us.
[00:23:47] Look at what He says.
[00:23:47] He says, come and carry it daily.
[00:23:49] Now look at what He says, verse 24.
[00:23:51] For whoever, whoever would save his life
[00:23:55] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
[00:24:01] For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but yet he loses or forfeits himself?
[00:24:07] How much is your life worth?
[00:24:10] A few weeks ago my wife had sort of a health scare and we wound up in the hospital and she was in desperate need of blood and the hospital that we were in didn't have any blood.
[00:24:20] Did you know there could be a hospital that doesn't have blood?
[00:24:23] I can tell you which one not to go to if you ask me in the comments.
[00:24:27] I'll put it in the chat.
[00:24:28] No, I'm just kidding.
[00:24:29] But we were kind of nervous because they said your numbers are dropping and you really need blood, but we don't have blood and you're on the transfer list.
[00:24:36] You need to be transferred by ambulance, but there's 30 people ahead of you tonight because of all the New Year stuff.
[00:24:43] Maybe you can drive yourself.
[00:24:44] and so they were sort of scaring us by their stuff we just thought we prayed but in that moment if you would have asked me how much are you willing to pay to make sure that your wife is safe that her life continues in a great way and that it's not threatened at all there is no cost that would have been too much sell your car done
[00:25:07] Mortgage your house, done.
[00:25:09] Like it wouldn't have mattered because what's the cost of a human life, right?
[00:25:13] And Jesus looks at us and he says, you have a choice.
[00:25:18] And it's which confession you're going to make.
[00:25:20] Are you going to confess yourself as the Lord?
[00:25:23] The one who's seated on the throne of your life?
[00:25:27] Or are you going to confess me as Lord?
[00:25:29] If you confess yourself as Lord, then He says there's going to come a moment where you come to the end of yourself and you're going to stand before Him in judgment.
[00:25:38] And you're going to know that you make a terrible God.
[00:25:41] And in that moment, it's going to cost you something.
[00:25:45] It's going to cost you life, not just
[00:25:48] For one lifetime, life for eternity separated from Him.
[00:25:52] But Jesus says, if you lose your life willingly for My sake, that means if you bow your knee to Him,
[00:26:00] That he is the anointed one.
[00:26:02] He is the Christ.
[00:26:04] He's the one to bring salvation.
[00:26:06] He says, when you die to yourself and surrender your life to me and you let me lead you, when you let me shape your thoughts, when you let me shape your dreams, when you let me shape...
[00:26:18] The things that you're going to order in your day and everything about your life, it's going to impact your marriage, your dating relationships, your parenting, your finances, all of this stuff.
[00:26:28] When you recognize me in my rightful place where I'm sitting on the throne as Lord, He says there's a cost, but in the end, there's a crown.
[00:26:39] Jesus looks at them and He says, whoever tries to save their life in this life, you're going to lose it forever.
[00:26:44] But whoever loses his life on purpose in this life, surrenders himself to Me and My Lordship, he doesn't just get real life here and now, but he gets life that lasts forever and ever and ever.
[00:26:59] As we wrap up today, look at what it says at verse 26.
[00:27:03] He says, For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in glory, in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
[00:27:11] But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who won't taste death until they see the kingdom of God.
[00:27:18] Let me just ask you,
[00:27:20] Are you embracing the cost of your confession?
[00:27:25] Maybe you're watching today and you're just sort of exploring the claims of Jesus and you thought, you know, I'm still trying to figure out who He is.
[00:27:33] Today is the day where you make your moment of confession.
[00:27:36] You confess He is the Anointed One from God, the Christ that God the Father sent to save us from all of our sins, from death, from hell, and the grave.
[00:27:49] And when we have a simple confession that you are who you said you are, Jesus looks at us and says, man, you couldn't have known that unless the Father revealed that.
[00:27:59] Those are the words of life.
[00:28:01] I'm going to send my spirit to wake you up to a brand new way of living and all the adventure that's in front of you for the rest of this life.
[00:28:09] And then when you die, the life that's eternal, it's going to be unbelievable.
[00:28:14] For some of you today, that's the choice you need to make.
[00:28:16] You need to confess because either you confess now or you confess later.
[00:28:20] Either way, there's a cost.
[00:28:24] For believers that are watching this video today, let me just ask you,
[00:28:28] Is your daily time where you wake up, are you imagining a crown for your day?
[00:28:36] Or are you imagining a cross?
[00:28:39] Today is my day.
[00:28:40] I want to accomplish my will, my agenda, my thoughts, my hopes, my dreams.
[00:28:45] Or is it I'm embracing the cost of following Jesus?
[00:28:50] It's not my will, it's His.
[00:28:52] It's not my hopes, it's His.
[00:28:53] It's not my time, it's His.
[00:28:55] It's not my friendships, they're His friendships.
[00:28:58] It's not my stuff, it's His stuff.
[00:29:01] I'm daily dying to myself so that I can embrace the cost of following Him and He's going to lead every area of my life.
[00:29:11] It's not just lip service, but it's life service.
[00:29:14] Is that your day?
[00:29:15] I just want to give you a challenge.
[00:29:17] Maybe when you wake up every day this week,
[00:29:19] You have two images in your mind and say, today I'm not viewing myself wearing a crown where everything has to go my way, where I'm seated on the throne.
[00:29:29] Instead, I'm embracing a cross where I follow after Jesus no matter what it costs me.
[00:29:36] Maybe for you it's a commitment to obey even when it's uncomfortable.
[00:29:40] Maybe that's how you carry your cross this week.
[00:29:42] Maybe it's to respond with love even when somebody has treated you in a really difficult way.
[00:29:48] But whatever it is, my challenge to you, Jesus doesn't just say, I want you to confess me as Savior once and then the rest of your life you do what you want.
[00:29:58] He's saying, I want it to be a daily confession.
[00:30:02] where you surrender and sacrifice yourself on the altar as a living sacrifice.
[00:30:08] It's not my will, it's your will.
[00:30:10] It's not my day, it's your day.
[00:30:11] These are your people that I'm interacting with.
[00:30:14] This is your stuff.
[00:30:15] And Lord, I want to be used by you to make a difference in the world.
[00:30:20] So I'm embracing the cost of my confession.
[00:30:24] Would you pray with me?
[00:30:25] This morning, if you've never started a relationship with Jesus, you've never confessed Him,
[00:30:30] As the one who can save you from your sins and give you life after death, today is your day.
[00:30:36] There's no magic formula, but you can just talk to Him in the simplicity of your heart and just say, Jesus, I want to know you like that.
[00:30:45] I believe, like Peter said, that you're the Christ, you're the Anointed One that God has
[00:30:52] Made to bring me forgiveness of my sins and give me life, real life that lasts forever.
[00:31:00] So Jesus, would you send your Holy Spirit to wake me up to a new way of life?
[00:31:05] If you did that, I just want to celebrate with you.
[00:31:08] Make sure you tell somebody today.
[00:31:10] Make sure you tell us in the comments or you can reach out to us on the Church Center app.
[00:31:15] We would love to celebrate with you and give you a book about what you do now that you've started this journey with Jesus.
[00:31:20] But for those of you that are believers in the house, would you just pray that every day you wake up this week that you're not thinking, well, I made my confession, so where's my crown?
[00:31:31] But instead, you would be ready to pick up your cross, live sacrificially following Jesus no matter what.
[00:31:40] Embrace the cost of your confession.
[00:31:42] Come and die daily.
[00:31:44] Let's pray.
[00:31:45] Father, I pray that you would help us to walk in step with you and to follow you with all of our hearts.
[00:31:51] In the name of Jesus, Amen.
