🧐 Overview
Theological Verdict & Summary
Sermon Summary: A critical examination of a sermon that blends biblical stewardship with dangerous theological errors regarding salvation and spiritual warfare.
Pastoral Analysis: While the sermon attempts to encourage active stewardship and maturity, it is fundamentally compromised by a Word of Faith framework. The teaching promotes the idea that human words control spiritual outcomes and that salvation is a human transaction, directly contradicting the biblical doctrine of sola gratia.
Biblical Parallel (Archetype): Thyatira — The sermon exhibits active heresy through the integration of Word of Faith theology and synergistic soteriology. The teaching promotes a gospel of human declaration and transactional salvation, fundamentally distorting the biblical doctrine of grace and the sovereignty of God.
Big Idea: God is transitioning the church from a phase of receiving supernatural provision (manna) to a phase of mature partnership, where believers steward their gifts and live out the gospel through responsible dependence and active labor alongside Him. [01:10:03 ▶️ 📄]

🧭 Biblical Alignment Dashboard
Overall Verdict: Fundamentally in Error
| Category | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel Presentation | ❌ FAIL | The Gospel Engine is broken. The sermon presents a synergistic soteriology where salvation is dependent on a human invitation and transaction, rather than the monergistic work of God's grace. |
| Soteriology | ❌ FAIL | The sermon teaches that salvation is achieved through a human act of inviting Christ and giving oneself to Him, denying the monergistic nature of regeneration. |
| Bibliology | ⚠️ WEAK | Scripture is used to support a framework of human declaration and control rather than submitting to God's sovereign will and truth. |
| Hermeneutic | ❌ FAIL | The hermeneutic imposes a Word of Faith lens on the text, interpreting spiritual maturity as a transition to controlling spiritual realities through speech. |
| Theology Proper | ❌ FAIL | God's sovereignty is limited by human speech acts, and His will is treated as a force to be manipulated by positive confession. |
| Sacramentology | ✅ PASS | No specific sacramental errors were detected in the provided reports. |
| Confessional Depth | ❌ SHALLOW | The teaching lacks depth in grace, focusing instead on mechanical spiritual practices and human effort. |
⚙️ The Core Gospel Framework
Why it matters for the final verdict: A complete Gospel framework protects a sermon from becoming man-centered. If a preacher gives commands for good behavior but leaves out the grace and atonement of the Gospel, it often results in a 🔴 Critical or 🟠 Major error for Moralism (teaching human self-improvement rather than reliance on Christ). However, if these Gospel elements are missing simply because the pastor is preaching a highly focused, practical message to mature believers (e.g., instructions on biblical marriage), our system applies a "Safe Harbor" pardon, graciously reducing the omission to a 🟡 Minor error.
❌ The Law And Wrath: Not observed in the sermon.
❌ Total Depravity And Inability: Not observed in the sermon.
❌ Active Obedience Of Christ: Not observed in the sermon.
✅ The Cross And Atonement:
"Lord, we declare healing by your name. In your stripes, we are healed, God. For every lash you took, God, we are healed. Every drop of blood, we are healed." [00:53:36 ▶️ 📄]
⚠️ Theological Concerns
🔴 Critical Synergistic Soteriology
Root Cause: Semi-Pelagianism
"if you don't know the Lord, if you've not ever invited Christ and given your life to Him, this is a good time to do it. It's easy to do, you know, it's real easy. All you've got to say is, hey, I want you, and I know you want me, and I give myself to you, and I know you're giving yourself to me" [01:57:35 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He frames salvation as a transactional mechanism dependent on human invitation and self-giving, stating, 'All you've got to say is, hey, I want you... and I give myself to you.'
Why It's Dangerous: This denies the monergistic work of God in regeneration, teaching that human will is the deciding factor in salvation.
Biblical Correction: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
🔴 Critical Word of Faith / Positive Confession
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"Lord, we declare healing by your name. In your stripes, we are healed, God. For every lash you took, God, we are healed. Every drop of blood, we are healed." [00:53:36 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He declares, 'In your stripes, we are healed, God. For every lash you took, God, we are healed. Every drop of blood, we are healed.'
Why It's Dangerous: This treats divine action as a result of human declaration rather than God's sovereign will, promoting a false theology of guaranteed outcomes.
Biblical Correction: For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (James 4:15)
🔴 Critical Declarative Spiritual Warfare
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"Lord, we just right now command those shackles to break. In Jesus' name. Those are things holding us back. So right now, we just take authority over shackles. Shackles must go in Jesus' name. We just declare them to break right now." [00:58:24 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He says, 'Lord, we just right now command those shackles to break... Shackles must go in Jesus' name. We just declare them to break right now.'
Why It's Dangerous: This implies human speech controls spiritual outcomes, bypassing the finished work of Christ and the role of the Holy Spirit.
Biblical Correction: Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)
🔴 Critical Declarative Prayer for Restoration
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"I just declare total restoration and new life as a part of it." [01:00:44 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He states, 'I just declare total restoration and new life as a part of it.'
Why It's Dangerous: This functions as a positive confession that attempts to force a spiritual reality into existence, treating restoration as a guaranteed outcome of speech.
Biblical Correction: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)
🔴 Critical Declarative Prayer for Traveling Mercies
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"we declare your traveling mercies, your grace, and your favor upon their walks with you, Lord, upon their missions." [01:02:11 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He says, 'we declare your traveling mercies, your grace, and your favor upon their walks with you, Lord, upon their missions.'
Why It's Dangerous: This bypasses God's sovereign timing and will, treating His favor as a force to be compelled by human speech.
Biblical Correction: The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. (Psalm 121:8)
🔴 Critical Speaking Resurrection Power
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"Lord, we just speak resurrection power right now, Lord, and that grief, the grief that is attached to that, Lord, right now, Lord, just lift it off right now in Jesus' name, we pray." [01:59:33 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He prays, 'Lord, we just speak resurrection power right now, Lord, and that grief, the grief that is attached to that, Lord, right now, Lord, just lift it off right now in Jesus' name, we pray.'
Why It's Dangerous: This treats spoken words as a tangible spiritual force that manipulates emotional and spiritual states, denying the Holy Spirit's sovereign role.
Biblical Correction: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)
🔴 Critical Speaking Against Spirits
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"I speak against a spirit of inferiority this morning." [00:54:34 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He states, 'I speak against a spirit of inferiority this morning.'
Why It's Dangerous: This reflects a Word of Faith spiritual warfare model that bypasses the biblical mandate for internal mortification of sin and renewing of the mind.
Biblical Correction: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (Romans 7:23)
🟠 Major Synergistic Limits on Divine Sovereignty in Sanctification
Root Cause: Semi-Pelagianism
"I think when we begin to really respond to him in those areas, he gives us a fresh start. He gives us fresh oil, fresh anointing to begin to function again." [01:51:17 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He says, 'I think when we begin to really respond to him in those areas, he gives us a fresh start. He gives us fresh oil, fresh anointing to begin to function again.'
Why It's Dangerous: This limits God's absolute sovereignty and free grace in sanctification, teaching a synergistic model where human effort triggers divine response.
Biblical Correction: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)
🟠 Major Word of Faith Declarative Manipulation
Root Cause: Word of Faith Heresy
"Lord, we just speak resurrection power right now, Lord, and that grief, the grief that is attached to that, Lord, right now, Lord, just lift it off right now in Jesus' name, we pray." [01:59:33 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He prays, 'Lord, we just speak resurrection power right now, Lord, and that grief, the grief that is attached to that, Lord, right now, Lord, just lift it off right now in Jesus' name, we pray.'
Why It's Dangerous: This treats faith as a coercive force rather than submission to God's sovereign will, promoting a manipulative approach to prayer.
Biblical Correction: Ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, or do this, or that. (James 4:15)
🟠 Major Charismatic Mysticism and Demonization of Internal Struggle
Root Cause: Charismatic Mysticism
"I speak against a spirit of inferiority this morning. Lord, there is nothing, there is no one who can tell us who we are but you, God." [00:54:26 ▶️ 📄]
The Belief/Behavior: He says, 'I speak against a spirit of inferiority this morning. Lord, there is nothing, there is no one who can tell us who we are but you, God.'
Why It's Dangerous: This bypasses the biblical mandate for internal mortification of sin, teaching that emotional states are external forces to be commanded away.
Biblical Correction: For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (Romans 8:13)

[00:50:44] He's going to keep you through those waves.
[00:50:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:50:51] Come on, sing that out.
[00:52:04] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:52:04] Don't let anything stand in the way this morning, church.
[00:52:08] Don't let anything stand in the way.
[00:52:09] The circumstances of the world are fleeting.
[00:52:13] Don't let people's opinions stand in the way.
[00:52:15] There's this song lyric that I've been singing all weekend.
[00:52:18] I don't care if they say that I'm out of my mind because I'm just grateful for you.
[00:52:22] So hold on to the Lord, no matter what people say, no matter what circumstances you're facing, hold on to the Lord.
[00:52:33] And I'm gonna be real, church, there's some circumstances in life.
[00:52:36] There's some things that we have to deal with.
[00:52:38] So let's just take a moment to pray over your circumstances.
[00:52:42] If that's health, we wanna pray for you this morning.
[00:52:45] If you're struggling with some health obstacles that are keeping you from holding hope on Jesus, then lift up a hand.
[00:52:50] if you see a hand go up, just raise some hands. If you see a hand near you, lay some hands on folks. I also want to call out, we got two friends of the house who are suffering this morning. David
[00:53:02] Denistrin, he's going in for a surgery tomorrow for a heart catheterization, I think. He's getting three stints put in. So some of y'all lift him up. We also, Palmer Holt, I just got word, he is
[00:53:13] headed back to the hospital after being in rehab for a while with a fever. So we lift him up, lift him up in prayer. Lord, we declare that the circumstances of this world are not enough to
[00:53:25] take our eyes off you this morning. There is nothing that will stand between our love for you and your love for us, God. So we submit ourselves anew to your grace this morning, and we declare
[00:53:36] let every chain that the enemy tries to place on us be broken in the name of Jesus. Lord, we declare healing by your name. In your stripes, we are healed, God. For every lash you took, God, we are
[00:53:49] healed. Every drop of blood, we are healed. Lord, every oppression that's on our mind, we declare it has no power over us this morning. So would you release a fresh anointing this morning, Lord, a fresh faith for healing in us, God? Because we don't want to live a passive Christian life. No,
[00:54:10] we're chasing after you, God. Even when life tries to keep us down, even when the enemy tries to take us out at the knees, God, we're chasing after you. We'll crawl if we have to. Come on.
[00:54:26] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:54:26] say. I don't care what they say. I've got my eyes on you. I speak against a spirit of inferiority
[00:54:34] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[00:54:34] this morning. Lord, there is nothing, there is no one who can tell us who we are but you, God.
[00:54:41] So we are not holding on to comparison. We are not holding on to insecurity, God, but we're chasing after who you say we are. We're chasing after your identity for us. Come on. Yes, Lord.
[00:54:51] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_04]
[00:54:51] thank you lord we just bless you are y'all hungry this morning for the holy spirit
[00:55:21] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[00:55:21] if you are stand up a minute i'm hungry i don't know about y'all but i just don't like business as usual i just don't want to ever go there lord we are asking you right now to fill us fresh
[00:55:35] with the spirit fill this church fresh lord we are hungry for your feeling your fresh touch upon us in the atmosphere of this place that it would shift, Lord, now that any doldrums we've fallen
[00:55:48] into, we are just declaring a shift in the atmosphere of this place, Lord. We are calling heaven down into this place, Lord. Lord, we're not satisfied. We are not satisfied yet, Lord God, because there's so much more of you. Lord, there's so much more. Lord, we have to have more.
[00:56:09] there's more there's more and there's more lord we ask you in jesus name by the blood lord there's not a way to work for it lord we just receive it right now in jesus name thank you lord thank you
[00:56:24] lord oh fresh feeling fresh touch in this place lord let the fire let the fire fall in this place Let the anointing of the Holy Ghost just fall in this place, Lord.
[00:56:37] Thank you, Lord.
[00:56:42] Oh, oh, thank you, Lord.
[00:56:46] Thank you, buddy, feeling that.
[00:56:48] Just wave your hand if you're just feeling it.
[00:56:50] Yeah, oh, yes, oh.
[00:56:54] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_07]
[00:56:54] Nothing like the presence of the Holy Ghost in the room.
[00:56:58] Oh, what we need, we have is our greatest need.
[00:57:02] Oh, God, our greatest need.
[00:57:05] It's you, oh Lord, your presence, the Holy Ghost, fire fallen among us, oh God.
[00:57:12] Thank you, Lord.
[00:57:14] We shake off the dust, Lord.
[00:57:16] We shake off the dust right now.
[00:57:18] We shake it off.
[00:57:19] Oh, oh, in the name of Jesus.
[00:57:24] Oh, oh, yeah, thank you, Lord.
[00:58:14] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[00:58:14] Yes.
[00:58:17] Lord, I just declare right now, I was feeling that, that people are, I felt shackles around the feet.
[00:58:24] And Lord, we just right now command those shackles to break.
[00:58:28] In Jesus' name.
[00:58:30] Those are things holding us back.
[00:58:32] So right now, we just take authority over shackles.
[00:58:37] Shackles must go in Jesus' name.
[00:58:41] We just declare them to break right now.
[00:58:44] Mind, body, soul, spirit.
[00:58:47] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_07]
[00:58:47] Thank you, Lord.
[00:58:48] break every chain break every chain break every chain God you've anointed me with fresh oil Lord we just say fresh oil you're so good Lord I just
[01:00:44] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_01]
[01:00:44] want to echo that sentiment we had a word about butterflies flying away from the things that people were bound by. So I just declare total restoration and new life as a part of it.
[01:00:57] Yeah. Amen. Lord, we worship you this morning. You're so good to us, God. There is nowhere else we'd rather be. So it's in your presence that we declare, Lord, that our life is yours and all the
[01:01:12] things that come along with it. We thank you, Lord, for the inheritance that you've given us in your son, Christ. And so this morning, we just worship you in every step, in every breath, in every part of service, Lord, we worship you. In Jesus' name, amen. While we're kind of in this
[01:01:34] atmosphere, I want to pray for two families who are out on mission this week. We've got the Exeses are in Haiti and the Nkumsas are in Ghana. So the Magusus are somewhere.
[01:01:51] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:01:52] Enoch and Molly are in Mexico with Christ Community.
[01:01:56] So I'll say, if you want to agree with me in prayer, Lord, we ask that you would cover the people of this church, God, the people that you have commissioned to go out to all the nations
[01:02:05] and share your love, share your glory.
[01:02:07] So we just say, Lord, a hedge of protection over them.
[01:02:11] God, we declare your traveling mercies, your grace, and your favor upon their walks with you, Lord, upon their missions.
[01:02:19] Would they be strengthened by your hand?
[01:02:22] Would they have wind under their feet that carries them to where they're going, Lord?
[01:02:26] And would they not grow weary, but would they instead run the race that you have set before them with endurance?
[01:02:32] In Jesus' name, amen.
[01:02:35] Amen.
[01:02:37] I'm gonna invite the ushers up.
[01:02:38] We're gonna transition into offering here.
[01:02:41] Still worship, as I'm so fond of saying.
[01:02:43] This is still worship, y'all.
[01:02:47] We've got some opportunities for you to sow in to various ministries.
[01:02:50] If you just want to tie it to the church and all the stuff that we've got going on here, that's amazing.
[01:02:54] We've also got the Father's Table, which is an excellent ministry.
[01:02:58] We're taking up donations for Western North Carolina and the school drive they're doing in Swannanoa and a couple other things.
[01:03:07] So if you just want to tag something in the memo of a check or go to the online feed and do the drop downs, then that's all options.
[01:03:13] But Heavenly Father, we love sowing into what you're doing, Lord.
[01:03:20] And I learned this recently.
[01:03:22] The only time God says to test us in the Bible is about tithing.
[01:03:26] Place your funds in the storehouse and see what God does.
[01:03:30] So Lord, we are testing you this morning comfortably with our tithes.
[01:03:34] As we're sowing into what you're doing, Lord, we believe that you will bless us for it.
[01:03:39] Maybe not financially, but certainly there will be a blessing.
[01:03:43] So Lord, we declare in your name, we love you, God.
[01:03:46] We're so excited to sow into what you're doing.
[01:03:48] and would this be accelerated tenfold back into the kingdom, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
[01:03:59] As those baskets are being, gosh, what a service so far. So far, so good, and we got still more to come, so it's going to be amazing. Well, hey, welcome to everybody. I'm so glad you're here
[01:04:11] with us this morning, getting to experience the river, especially if you're a newcomer. If this is your first time, what a Sunday you picked to be here. We would love to get to know you better,
[01:04:20] So there are opportunities to fill out some visitor information cards.
[01:04:24] You can scan the QR code in front of you or just hold your phone out.
[01:04:28] It should pop up with a link to our link tree.
[01:04:30] That's where you can find the visitor information cards.
[01:04:33] There's tithing portals there.
[01:04:35] There's also opportunities to sign up for any number of volunteer things.
[01:04:40] We've got plenty of opportunities to get involved, especially in our media team.
[01:04:47] Denise and Abby, you want to wave your hands?
[01:04:48] Our streaming and lyrics who help this service go so smoothly.
[01:04:52] If you would like to help out with those, this is your last opportunity to do it of your own accord.
[01:04:57] After this, Corey is hunting you down.
[01:05:00] So if you want it to be on your terms signing up, then I suggest you do that this week.
[01:05:08] Amen. Amen.
[01:05:11] All right.
[01:05:11] Um, well, that's about it. We've got for our special little welcome stuff. Jacob, thank you so much. Thank you. Worship team. So good as always praise the Lord. Hey, I'm so glad we have a, a worship team that cares about the Holy spirit. It's pretty great. Um, okay. Well,
[01:05:34] the ushers are pretty much to the back. So at this point, I think I'm safe to dismiss the kids from infant through fifth grade. We have classes for you first through fifth grade. You're in the
[01:05:43] back. Everyone else, you've got classes down this hallway. If you have not yet, please use our check-in kiosk on the left side of the VBS display so you get your kids tagged so that we are
[01:05:56] accountable for them, and then we can hand them back to you at the end of service with no hiccups.
[01:06:00] So yeah, that's kids first, or infant through fifth grade. Have fun at Kids Church. Great, I'm going to move into announcements. Corey, would you grab that? So I've got a couple announcements for you real quick. Just going to run through these. Speaking of the VBS display, that starts tomorrow.
[01:06:18] Yeah, it's going to be so fun. I've been honored to be a part of a couple of the planning meetings and some of the behind the scenes stuff. It's going to be a great time. So just some last
[01:06:27] minute details. Registration is still open. So VBS is running this week, starting on Monday, ending on Friday. It'll be here from nine to noon every day. So a nice little morning block, Get your kids out of the house for a little bit,
[01:06:41] get them in the Word, and then get them back for the afternoon after they're all tired from playing games and stuff.
[01:06:46] The games are gonna be awesome this year, I heard.
[01:06:48] So get your kids excited for that.
[01:06:52] So that is this week.
[01:06:53] I think we still have some snack sign-up stuff available in the lobby.
[01:06:57] So if you would like to bring some snacks tomorrow, that would be super helpful.
[01:07:00] Just for the week, there are some specific items they're requesting.
[01:07:04] That's VBS.
[01:07:05] All right.
[01:07:07] The Healing Rooms is also open this week, so that'll be Thursday night.
[01:07:12] This Thursday night, we'll be here in the sanctuary praying for people to be healed.
[01:07:16] So if you need healing or if someone you know needs healing, please bring them here.
[01:07:21] Thursday night, 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
[01:07:24] We have some people who are well-anointed and well-equipped who really wanna chase after that healing.
[01:07:29] So Healing Rooms this Thursday.
[01:07:32] Also, let's see, how do I wanna do this?
[01:07:36] I'll shout this one out first and then we'll go to the last one. August 2nd is our baptism Sunday.
[01:07:42] So we're doing baptisms again. That'll be this August. Um, if you would like to be baptized, please get in touch with Kristen. Uh, I do have a slight little PSA, um, some change of our normal
[01:07:53] procedure. Um, we are going to be baptizing in here during the service on Sunday. If all goes according to plan, it's going to be right here. So y'all get excited for that. If you are a crowd
[01:08:06] shy, too bad. We're baptizing you anyways. So that's going to be August 2nd. Mark your calendars.
[01:08:12] Talk to Christian if you want to be baptized. The deadline to register is the 26th. So that's awesome. All right, last but certainly not least, who's ready for the women's retreat? So we've got our annual women's retreat coming back. It's going to be the weekend of October 16th through the 18th.
[01:08:29] It's going to be three awesome days of ministry, fellowship, worship, and special guest speaker, Monica Moore. Is that how you pronounce her name? Mauer. Monica Mauer. Registration will be opening August 2nd. So mark your calendars for that. More at 4 p.m. At 4 p.m. is when registration opens.
[01:08:51] So there is more information about pricing and details on the events page of our website. That's where you can go to get all the information about what's going on here. You can also sign up for our
[01:09:00] email announcements there. That is riverlifefellowship.com slash events. Great. Sweet Byron, why don't you come on up here? Sweet Byron. Yeah. That's my nickname for him. I call him Sweet Byron. He's so mad at me for it. All right. Well, I'm going to get this mic out of my hands as soon
[01:09:26] as I can. So why don't you join me in praying for Sweet Byron? Heavenly Father, we thank you so much.
[01:09:34] We thank you so much for everything you're doing at this church, Lord.
[01:09:37] We thank you for so much for all the things you've done in Byron's life, Lord.
[01:09:42] We declare that as you are speaking to us this morning through him, Lord, let us catch something new.
[01:09:48] Let the Holy Spirit intercede on our behalf and really just speak straight to our hearts.
[01:09:54] So we honor you, Lord, with this time of getting in the word.
[01:09:57] And we say grace on grace on grace for everybody, Lord.
[01:10:00] In Jesus' name, amen.
[01:10:03] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_00]
[01:10:03] Amen.
[01:10:03] Man, Becky never says I'm sweet.
[01:10:06] She says opposite.
[01:10:09] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:10:13] Oh, that was great, man.
[01:10:14] Thank you.
[01:10:15] Break every chain.
[01:10:16] Amen.
[01:10:16] I love all that.
[01:10:18] Lord, yes.
[01:10:20] God really wants to break chains off our life, doesn't he?
[01:10:23] Probably all of us in this room have some area in our life where we need some power of God to come and do something for us.
[01:10:31] So we're saying yes and amen.
[01:10:34] Oh, Lord, thank you.
[01:10:36] Well, I'll give you this message, okay?
[01:10:38] Hopefully the Lord will speak to you.
[01:10:40] If you don't, that's too bad.
[01:10:42] It's not my fault.
[01:10:45] So, Lord, we just pray right now in Jesus' name.
[01:10:48] We pray for your word to come forth, Lord.
[01:10:51] That we'd be hearers of the word and doers of the word.
[01:10:57] So we just ask you for that.
[01:10:59] We ask for the power of the word to come, Lord.
[01:11:01] And we thank you that you've given us the word of the Lord.
[01:11:05] and that you've entrusted it to us, Lord.
[01:11:08] And I pray we'd all steward it well in Jesus' name.
[01:11:12] Amen.
[01:11:14] Well, I want to start first by telling a little bit of a story about myself.
[01:11:20] Years ago, like 27, 28 years ago, I started having these visions, okay, of water.
[01:11:31] And I didn't really under, and at first it was just random, too.
[01:11:34] Like, you know, just in the middle of the day, all of a sudden I'd see bodies of water.
[01:11:39] And, you know, at first you don't kind of catch things.
[01:11:43] I mean, I don't know about y'all.
[01:11:44] I mean, I don't.
[01:11:45] How many people in here are slow learners?
[01:11:47] Just raise your hand.
[01:11:48] God may be speaking to you.
[01:11:50] And it's almost like sometimes he needs to hit you upside the head with a two-by-four.
[01:11:53] That's the way I feel.
[01:11:54] Like, man, why did I catch this?
[01:11:57] But then the Lord started speaking this phrase to me.
[01:12:01] I would see these bodies of water, and then I would hear this little phrase, it's time to cross over.
[01:12:07] And again, at first, I wasn't thinking about the Bible or anything.
[01:12:11] I was thinking maybe it was a song I heard or something, you know.
[01:12:16] But sooner or later, I really began to realize it was really the Holy Spirit speaking to me, that I was at a time in my life where God was calling me to cross over into a new time.
[01:12:29] and that's really the thing he was really beginning to speak to me and and so it was over a process of time that you know I really began to step into to a different place spiritually than where I had been
[01:12:43] up and up into that point in my life I mean God began to really do new things to me and he gave me this scripture at some point and I don't really remember when it he gave it to me but
[01:12:56] But what I felt like, and I'm just going to tell you the end result was this.
[01:13:01] The end result was, and this is looking in hindsight, is that God was calling me into a greater partnership with him than what I had been.
[01:13:10] That really he was speaking to me about partnering with him and bringing his kingdom into the world that I'm in and the world I'm around.
[01:13:20] And obviously I didn't know that then.
[01:13:22] And he was also, you know, I had a lot of promises over my life, which I think we all do, whether we know them or not.
[01:13:31] It was a time where he was trying to bring me in to just begin to see fulfillment of things he had spoken over my life.
[01:13:39] And that was like the crossing over is for me to come into that.
[01:13:43] But this scripture here really is really powerful.
[01:13:47] 2 Corinthians 13, 14.
[01:13:49] is the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
[01:13:56] Don't y'all love that?
[01:13:58] And those three things became, and I'm going to emphasize, none of this happened instantly.
[01:14:06] None of it happened in days or weeks or months.
[01:14:08] It happened over a period of years.
[01:14:11] Like lots of times we think when God's trying to bring us into something, like tomorrow everything's going to change.
[01:14:17] Well, tomorrow is kind of a vague thing in some ways because it could be way down the road that makes you feel good don't it i'm sorry but uh over a period of time god began to like establish like these what i call
[01:14:31] revelational truths in my life there was three of them it was the the grace of the lord jesus christ the love of god the father and the fellowship and friendship of the holy spirit God really began to establish those in me, and my Christian life changed because of it.
[01:14:51] I became a lot more of a stable person in my faith and as a human being, as a father, as a husband, just as a normal human being.
[01:15:04] And God, because of the revelational truth of these, they became like literal pillars in the house of my life that God was building.
[01:15:13] Are y'all with me?
[01:15:14] And it really began to really change me a lot.
[01:15:17] And, you know, and it really helped me to grow spiritually.
[01:15:23] My spiritual life began to really pick up.
[01:15:25] And God began to really gift me more or allow me to really step into my gifting more.
[01:15:32] in the terms of revelation, in terms of the scripture, all of that, stuff that I had long desired, God began to open it up to me.
[01:15:43] And I would say this about that verse.
[01:15:46] If I had to boil down really the heart of this church, it's that verse right there.
[01:15:52] It's those three things.
[01:15:53] It's the grace of Jesus, the Father's love, and the friendship and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
[01:15:59] To me, that's everything.
[01:16:00] and that really encompasses a lot of of of what christianity really is all about and i think with and but i want to emphasize to you it's it's by revelation i mean because i understood those
[01:16:13] things for years before in my mind i understood them but there's a big difference between when god speaks something to your heart and it becomes a reality in your life and it becomes a motivation
[01:16:24] in your life versus you know reading it on a piece of paper out of the bible or hearing somebody else talk about it but for you it's just more of a mental thing see so we need that anointing that
[01:16:35] revelational gift to come work in our life to really bring these truths alive to us and because otherwise they're just truths on paper they're not truths that affect us the way God wants to to them to affect us well am I talking to anybody this morning I hope I am but good if I am not
[01:16:54] i'm talking to myself okay well one of the scriptures so you know crossing over is obviously something that's in the old testament in the book of joshua so at some point i've kind of caught on
[01:17:08] to that joshua thing actually jesus said it too in mark chapter five i think it was let's cross over to the other side so it's kind of a it's kind of a spiritual phrase that that's kind of
[01:17:20] big part but but of course we know that the children of israel they had lived in the wilderness for 40 years and a time came for them to cross over and that's just a beautiful picture of of
[01:17:33] of where god i think where god's bringing the the body across is that we're we're in a time of crossing over into a new era spiritually uh and and it's just an amazing it's really we're
[01:17:45] at an amazing time whether we realize it or not even though we've had a lot of things happen in the past few years that seem disappointing to us and discouraging to us, but I don't really want
[01:17:55] to live in disappointment, discouragement, or sorrow. I mean, that's, you know, I want to move out of that into what God has. I want to not be a wilderness wanderer, and because that's really sort of what I was spiritually before the Lord began to speak to me. I was, in my mind, I was
[01:18:10] like a wilderness wanderer in my life, and, you know, depending on manna to come down every day and take care of me, which is a beautiful thing if that's where you're at in your life
[01:18:21] because that's what God does.
[01:18:23] But I want to read this in Joshua 5.12.
[01:18:28] It says, The manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land, so that the sons of Israel no longer had manna.
[01:18:36] So you see, the manna had come to an end.
[01:18:38] But before it came to an end, there was another provision for them.
[01:18:42] You see, God doesn't really end things without providing something.
[01:18:46] There's always a new provision from the Lord.
[01:18:48] If something's ending in your life, there's something more for you.
[01:18:51] Lots of times we miss it because we don't want to let go of the dead horse we're trying to keep alive, you know, or the dead relationship or the dead move of God.
[01:18:59] Whatever it might be that you're trying to hang on to, you'll miss what God is actually right in front of you that you don't see.
[01:19:07] So they had ate some of the fruit of the land, and when they did eat that, that manna no longer showed up.
[01:19:14] This is important, y'all.
[01:19:16] So the sons of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan that year.
[01:19:22] So if you think about it, this generation had manna for 40 years.
[01:19:27] 40 years, every morning they'd get up and they'd have manna.
[01:19:30] It was just like a supernatural thing that God was doing.
[01:19:33] It was amazing.
[01:19:34] It sustained them where they were at, where there was nothing else for them.
[01:19:38] It's what sustained them.
[01:19:40] And then one day, it's over with.
[01:19:42] that God, it just, it came to an end, but God did provide something else.
[01:19:48] And because, you know, that miracle was no longer needed in their life.
[01:19:53] Now, this is important.
[01:19:54] It was, manna was miraculous.
[01:19:56] Manna was supernatural, okay?
[01:19:59] But the time came for that supernatural thing, that miraculous thing, to end.
[01:20:05] There was something else, okay?
[01:20:07] Here's a little thing.
[01:20:09] It wasn't that God wasn't abandoning them, okay?
[01:20:11] you know and that would probably make people feel a little abandoned if what i'm trying to get you into this i'm trying to get you into their their mindset that that you had this provision from the lord you had something supernatural from the lord happening in your life
[01:20:26] and you had lived off of it and then suddenly it comes to an end your natural feeling is you're going to feel a little abandoned you're going to feel like what did i do wrong or what in the world
[01:20:36] was God doing now? Are y'all with me? What is God doing? Suddenly, he's not giving us this anymore, okay? But they didn't need it anymore. That was the thing. If they needed it, God would have
[01:20:49] provided it. They didn't need it. And you can apply this to your life, okay? This is what I want you to do. I want you to apply it to your life. So in the wilderness, this is what happened.
[01:21:00] They gathered what they could sustain them from one day.
[01:21:04] They couldn't store it.
[01:21:07] They couldn't cultivate it.
[01:21:08] In other words, they couldn't go out and grow it.
[01:21:09] And the only thing they could do was receive it.
[01:21:12] That's the only thing they could do, receive it and eat it.
[01:21:15] There was nothing else they could do with it.
[01:21:17] But when they got into the promised land, things shifted, okay?
[01:21:22] Number one is they planted, they cultivated, They stored what they had across, you know, the vineyards, the gardens had produced and multiplied what God had entrusted to them.
[01:21:38] See, that was a whole new mindset, a whole new shift for them before they just simply received it.
[01:21:45] Now God was saying, I'm going to not just give you something.
[01:21:49] I'm going to entrust something to you.
[01:21:51] But I'm not only going to entrust it to you for you just to consume.
[01:21:54] I'm going to entrust it to you to develop it to cultivate it and multiply it where many people can partake of it not just you okay and so that was the shift that God and I believe that's one of the shifts
[01:22:10] that God wants to bring into the church world is that God wants us to take what he's already planted into us what he's already given us and he wants us to cultivate it he wants us to multiply it
[01:22:23] man, he wants us to share it.
[01:22:25] Are you with me?
[01:22:27] So it's kind of a big deal.
[01:22:29] And if you think about it, it's really how the Lord kind of operates in our life.
[01:22:32] I don't know about you.
[01:22:33] When I first got saved, you know, it was like Jesus was the best guy ever, okay?
[01:22:40] Because it seemed like I was living, you know, God was just doing so much for me.
[01:22:46] He was answering prayers.
[01:22:47] He was giving me specific answers to prayers.
[01:22:50] I could ask him about like, you know, Like, I had this girlfriend, okay?
[01:22:55] This was before Becky.
[01:22:58] I don't, it's not, I didn't have Becky and a girlfriend on the side.
[01:23:02] If I did, y'all, I would be dead.
[01:23:05] She would have killed me, okay?
[01:23:07] I would have just been murdered, you know?
[01:23:09] But so, I just said, Lord, you know, I was asking, I'd gotten saved, and I was asking the Lord about this girl, and the Lord spoke real clear to me about that girl.
[01:23:17] Like, that's over with.
[01:23:19] You know, that's over with.
[01:23:21] I mean, I could tell you one thing after the other after the other.
[01:23:24] I would have these dreams from the Lord, and they would come true like the next day.
[01:23:30] It was just crazy.
[01:23:31] I thought this is the greatest life ever, you know.
[01:23:35] You know, I didn't think through it too much, but I could have thought, like, who needs faith?
[01:23:43] You know, there's nothing to do here.
[01:23:45] You just ask God, he'll tell you, and it happens.
[01:23:49] But a time came when all that began to fade.
[01:23:53] It became a little bit less, a little bit less, a little bit less.
[01:23:57] And my normal human thinking was, what kind of sin am I in?
[01:24:01] You know, just God no longer wants to talk to me anymore.
[01:24:05] God doesn't like me like he used to.
[01:24:08] But really what it was, was God was trying to grow me up as a person.
[01:24:11] God was trying to grow me up and get me to live the life of faith that he's called us all to and to really trust him and believe him even when it's not like it was before
[01:24:24] so he was really wanting us all to really walk more closely with him and to walk in wisdom okay that's something the church really needs right now is a word of wisdom I love words of knowledge
[01:24:38] but I think we need a word of wisdom also to come forth and to faithfully steward what He's already given us.
[01:24:44] I mean, I think we're really in the time of learning to steward.
[01:24:47] So here's the thing.
[01:24:48] We never become independent of the Lord, okay?
[01:24:52] This is not becoming independent.
[01:24:54] It's becoming more responsible of what He's given us.
[01:24:58] Are you hearing me?
[01:24:58] The children of Israel did not become more independent from the Lord when they no longer needed the manna.
[01:25:04] They became responsible with what He had given them.
[01:25:07] And that's how God wants to grow us up.
[01:25:09] We don't grow ever into, we grow in our dependence on him.
[01:25:14] We just grow in a different way of our dependence on him.
[01:25:18] And so that's what God's trying to do for people is he's trying to grow us up and not make us independent, but make us dependent on him in a different way than we have been in the past.
[01:25:29] Are you with me?
[01:25:30] It's really important.
[01:25:32] So one of the greatest miracles of the promised land was this, that they didn't need the manna no more.
[01:25:38] God's going to, do you hear what I'm saying to you?
[01:25:40] They did not need the manna.
[01:25:42] That's a miracle because they had something else.
[01:25:45] See, God wants to bring you into a place where you don't necessarily need some of the things he used to do for you.
[01:25:50] I think this is not that kind of message people love.
[01:25:53] But I'll tell you this, it's a message where the Lord is saying, y'all need to start growing up.
[01:25:58] You need to start using what I've given you.
[01:26:00] You need to become more responsible as Christians, okay?
[01:26:05] Well, I'm good with this.
[01:26:07] I hope it's okay.
[01:26:08] yeah and one of the ways the lord really does uh grow us up is call us calls us into partnership with him okay that's that's the biblical way is he wants to grow us by calling us into partnership
[01:26:22] uh listen to this a steward in the kingdom takes care of what belongs to god that's easy right a steward takes care of what belongs to god a partner shares the lord's vision do you see the difference
[01:26:36] He's called us to both.
[01:26:37] He's called us to take care of what belongs to Him, but He's also called us to begin to partner with Him, begin to see the vision that God has of what God wants to do and what God's heart is.
[01:26:49] That's the partnership He wants us to see so we can begin to really function with Him.
[01:26:55] Are y'all with me?
[01:26:57] All right, let me read this.
[01:26:58] This is going to mess with your little theology a little bit.
[01:27:01] I hope it does.
[01:27:02] It messed with mine a little bit.
[01:27:04] There's a pattern in the book of Acts, okay?
[01:27:08] Now, if you're a charismatic or Pentecostal person, I congratulate you.
[01:27:13] I think it's the best of all the streams, that's personally speaking, or I wouldn't be in it.
[01:27:18] But if you're not, you can join us, you know.
[01:27:22] You can become one of us.
[01:27:23] It's got issues, okay?
[01:27:26] There's issues.
[01:27:28] There's serious issues.
[01:27:29] Like, for instance, here's an issue.
[01:27:31] You showed up.
[01:27:33] you brought issues with you you know oh i don't really like that church that church is messed up well you know why it's messed up you came and it's the in the pastor they have he's messed up
[01:27:46] see that's it see god knows we're all a bunch of messed up but he's good with that he's trying to get us to quit being messed up but he gets that we're messed up he doesn't reject us ever being
[01:27:59] messed up. He does want us to repent from sins, though. I'll tell you that now. Well, here's the thing. Let me just say this. If you read the book of Acts like most good Pentecostal and charismatic
[01:28:09] people do, which we love, especially the first few chapters. I mean, the first few chapters are the Pentecostal chapters of the Bible. There's a Holy Ghost being poured out. There's tongues of fire. There's angels showing up, okay? There's miracles. There's all these cool things happening.
[01:28:30] It's right.
[01:28:32] If you're that kind of person, you should love all of that.
[01:28:36] In fact, if you get bored reading the Bible, go read that.
[01:28:38] That'll get you fired up again.
[01:28:40] Okay, but here's the thing.
[01:28:43] If you will begin to read it with a little bit more of an open mind, there's something that starts happening kind of behind the scenes as you read on down the road.
[01:28:54] Less and less and less of spectacular miracles.
[01:28:59] Would I be slapped in most churches for saying that?
[01:29:02] Oh, we want to be like the book of Acts.
[01:29:04] Be careful.
[01:29:05] Okay, let me read the last two verses of the book of Acts.
[01:29:09] Now, Paul stayed two full years in his own rented lodging.
[01:29:17] Welcome all who came to him.
[01:29:21] Now, if you didn't know it, he was in prison.
[01:29:24] He was in house arrest.
[01:29:26] This is how the book of Acts ends, y'all.
[01:29:27] Now, the greatest apostle is under arrest, living under house arrest.
[01:29:36] But he was doing this.
[01:29:37] He was preaching the kingdom and teaching things about the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness and unhindered.
[01:29:42] Isn't that powerful?
[01:29:44] So here's the point, though.
[01:29:46] If you study the book of Acts, you see this trend.
[01:29:49] You see God moving very powerful, providing, doing all these wonderful things.
[01:29:53] But the further you went into it, as the church grew, because the church really needed all that at first, right?
[01:29:59] It was like an infant in a very hostile world.
[01:30:03] But as the church grew, and as the people grew, God did less and less of the spectacular.
[01:30:10] Because the people were doing it.
[01:30:14] Are you hearing me?
[01:30:15] And it ends with a person doing it.
[01:30:18] with a person preaching the kingdom under house arrest and teaching the things about Jesus Christ.
[01:30:25] It doesn't end with God coming down like He did at the beginning.
[01:30:33] Well, that's just a terrible thing to share in a church like this.
[01:30:39] It's just a terrible thing because we want God to always come down like that.
[01:30:43] And God might be saying, well, I've got some other things for you too.
[01:30:47] Well, I'm not sure.
[01:30:49] Yeah.
[01:30:50] And the church really did grow.
[01:30:52] It grew through discipleship, it grew through missions, it grew through evangelism, it grew through people living a holy life around unbelievers.
[01:31:06] Am I talking to anybody?
[01:31:10] I've been like reading, doing this reading about church history.
[01:31:14] It's fascinating, church history is.
[01:31:16] When you really dive down into it.
[01:31:19] Actually, that's what got me reading about it was when I was seeing this in the book of Acts.
[01:31:23] Thank you, River Life School of Ministry, for opening my eyes to seeing what I just shared with you.
[01:31:29] It really helped me to see the book of Acts different.
[01:31:32] I was stuck on the first four or five chapters for most of my Christian life, and all of a sudden I'm getting thrown out.
[01:31:41] But it got me into church history.
[01:31:43] And one of the things they said about the early church after Jesus, after the first apostles, and the gospel had spread and people were living in different parts of the Roman Empire where it was absolutely illegal to preach the gospel publicly,
[01:32:00] they said one of the ways it spread was this, is the people were shocked at their lifestyle.
[01:32:09] They were shocked at how the husbands treated their wives.
[01:32:13] they were shocked about how they dealt with children.
[01:32:17] They were shocked at how they did business because it was nothing like the pagan world where men beat the wives and had multiple girlfriends and it was all acceptable and all that stuff was happening.
[01:32:31] All the business people were crooks and they were seeing something different in the people and it really caused the gospel to spread.
[01:32:40] People would go to these people and they would invite them into their homes and they would have like little church meetings in their home and people were getting saved.
[01:32:52] That's how it was spreading.
[01:32:54] Another thing, I may have told you all this, it was fascinating to me.
[01:32:57] These historians said that we could relate well with how the church functioned back in the first few hundred years.
[01:33:08] They did a lot of what we do today.
[01:33:10] They did a lot of worship.
[01:33:11] They were big into worship.
[01:33:13] Their preaching was a little bit different because at the time they didn't have like a Bible that was put together.
[01:33:18] They had pieces, letters that became, you know, scriptures.
[01:33:23] And so the preaching was not probably, we probably have better preaching today than what they had at that point because they only had little bits and pieces of the Bible.
[01:33:32] They didn't really have a whole picture to put it together.
[01:33:36] But a lot of what we're doing today, we have a historical precedent for it from the early church.
[01:33:44] And it's really, I think one of the things we've missed, though, is the power of just living a Christian life before people out there in the world.
[01:33:54] And just being honest people and treating our spouses right, treating our children right, that had a huge impact on the culture out there.
[01:34:04] A huge impact.
[01:34:05] And I believe God really is calling the church to have a huge impact, to really literally be the salt and light.
[01:34:12] I think some people don't like this message, you know, but it's really the truth.
[01:34:19] So it doesn't mean God's ever going to stop doing miracles.
[01:34:23] Don't get me wrong with that, okay?
[01:34:25] He wants to do miracles.
[01:34:27] God wants to heal people, okay?
[01:34:30] He literally wants people to get miraculous healings.
[01:34:34] Every Sunday, I'm praying, Lord, let today be a day somebody who needs a miracle in this room get it.
[01:34:40] You know?
[01:34:41] Because God wants to do that.
[01:34:44] Okay?
[01:34:44] But what God wants to, He doesn't want us to be people who constantly need a miracle.
[01:34:50] He wants us to be the people who bring the miracles.
[01:34:53] Are you hearing me?
[01:34:54] He doesn't want us to keep continually having to part the Jordan River for us.
[01:34:59] Okay?
[01:35:00] He wants us to bear the people to speak to the Jordan River for other people to bear the cross and call them a cross.
[01:35:07] Are you seeing the difference?
[01:35:09] You see, on one hand, God did all this stuff.
[01:35:11] He brought the manna.
[01:35:12] He brought the tongues of fire and all that stuff.
[01:35:15] But now he's saying, I want you to start bringing it.
[01:35:18] I want you to start stewarding what you have.
[01:35:20] I want you to pardon with me what you have.
[01:35:23] And I think when the church really begins to do that, we'll see a church rise up in power.
[01:35:28] that really begins to shake the world around us.
[01:35:31] When we begin to take the authority and the anointing that God has invested in us and begin to use it and not hold back.
[01:35:40] Is anybody holding back in this room?
[01:35:43] Raise your hand if you're holding back.
[01:35:45] Don't the rest of you lie.
[01:35:47] I'm telling you that right now.
[01:35:51] You're holding back for different reasons.
[01:35:53] Maybe it was that insecurity thing that Oliver was talking about.
[01:35:58] is you're too insecure about it.
[01:36:00] But God has put power in you.
[01:36:02] He's put life in you.
[01:36:05] We have it.
[01:36:06] We have what it takes in us.
[01:36:08] But a lot of things will hold us back in life.
[01:36:10] I'm going to tell you that now.
[01:36:11] But here's the thing.
[01:36:12] We don't want to get to the end of our life.
[01:36:14] We don't want to get and stand before the Father when we're, you know, at the end of life here and we're given an account for our life and Him saying, listen, I had all these things for you to do.
[01:36:25] I had all this wonderful stuff for you, but you held back.
[01:36:28] Because you were afraid, you worried about what people would say, or whatever it might be.
[01:36:33] Or you didn't think you could do it.
[01:36:36] We don't want that, do we?
[01:36:38] Yeah, we should probably repent of that.
[01:36:41] Yeah.
[01:36:41] All right, let me read this one to you.
[01:36:43] What would it have?
[01:36:46] Stewardship leads to partnership, 1 Peter 4.10.
[01:36:50] As each one has received a special gift, well, anything from God, any gift from God is special, won't you think?
[01:36:57] Yeah.
[01:36:58] Now, employ it in serving one another as good stewards.
[01:37:03] I love that word, employ it.
[01:37:05] Employ it as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God.
[01:37:09] In other words, grace has many expressions, many faces.
[01:37:14] So it doesn't look the same for everybody.
[01:37:17] Everybody has a different grace working on their life.
[01:37:20] But what Peter's saying, you've got to take that special thing that God's put in you and given you, and you've got to employ it.
[01:37:26] You've got to employ it by serving.
[01:37:28] other people, and if you'll do that, stuff will happen, okay, so the Christian life is not a journey from dependence, I already said this, but I'm gonna say it again, from dependence to independence, it's not that, it's not that, it's a journey from spiritual empathy to mature
[01:37:45] partnership with God in advancing his kingdom, and this is how it happens, for me, it happened that God brought this revelation of grace into my life, okay?
[01:37:57] And the grace is what gets us established in the kingdom.
[01:38:00] And then He brought this revelation of the Father's heart to me.
[01:38:04] That established me, gave me my identity as a person.
[01:38:08] And it gave me identity of God, who He really is and how He really is.
[01:38:12] And it helped me get an identity of Jesus, okay?
[01:38:16] Because Jesus said, if you've seen me, you've seen the Father.
[01:38:19] And so I determined this.
[01:38:20] I was determined I was not going to listen to what people say about God in the Old Testament about killing people.
[01:38:26] I determined this is how I'm going to look at God.
[01:38:29] I'm going to look at Jesus.
[01:38:30] That's the way God is.
[01:38:33] I'm not going to go with all that, that people have all these questions, because there's 10 million questions that still haven't been answered.
[01:38:39] But if we put our eyes on Jesus like we should, if we look at him and say, this is how God is.
[01:38:45] If you see it in the face of Jesus Christ, that's who God is.
[01:38:50] Okay?
[01:38:51] and somehow or another, all that stuff is going to get worked out.
[01:38:55] It may not get worked out here.
[01:38:57] I'm good with that.
[01:38:59] I have no problem with it not getting worked out here because I don't spend my life trying to figure out God.
[01:39:05] You know, I'm going to look at Jesus.
[01:39:07] That's what God's like in the face of Jesus.
[01:39:10] That's what, you know, the Father's heart will do for you.
[01:39:13] It will tell you what God's like.
[01:39:16] And the easy answer, He's like Jesus.
[01:39:18] Read the story of Jesus.
[01:39:19] And that's why healing is important, y'all.
[01:39:23] Okay?
[01:39:24] Because Jesus went around healing people.
[01:39:26] And every Sunday in churches all across America, hurting and broken people walk into those churches.
[01:39:32] Every Sunday.
[01:39:36] And the church has to really pay attention to those people and pray for them.
[01:39:40] And ask God to do what only God can do.
[01:39:42] Because we can't heal, but we can pray that God will do what He does.
[01:39:46] You know?
[01:39:47] Well, I told you that.
[01:39:48] I got that little revelation when I hurt my knee real bad.
[01:39:51] And I came to church one Sunday here, and we didn't pray for the sick, and I was really mad.
[01:39:57] I mean, I was super mad.
[01:39:58] And I determined in my heart that day, this is what I determined, I don't ever want to go to a gathering of Christians again without hurting people being prayed for.
[01:40:07] Because I was hurting on the verge of tears that Sunday sitting there.
[01:40:12] And I wanted people to pray for me because I needed help.
[01:40:16] I was hurting so bad.
[01:40:19] I'm doing my knee right now like I shouldn't be.
[01:40:21] Yes, I started, this guy was, he was working on me.
[01:40:25] He said, gosh, you're putting all your weight on one side.
[01:40:28] Like, if your knee hurt like my knee, you'd be putting all your weight.
[01:40:32] But do you see what I'm saying?
[01:40:34] I don't know if this is making any sense.
[01:40:38] The Holy Spirit teaches us to live as sons and daughters who faithfully steward everything he entrusts to us.
[01:40:44] The Lord will still perform miracles.
[01:40:46] He will still open rivers.
[01:40:48] He will still remove impossible obstacles.
[01:40:50] But His goal is not only to bring us through difficult seasons.
[01:40:54] His goal is to shape us into mature sons and daughters who know Him and are secure in their identity and walk closely with Him and labor alongside of Him.
[01:41:03] That's really what God wants to do.
[01:41:06] And so like Israel, there's going to be a time when the manna's going to cease.
[01:41:10] And like the early church, there's going to be a time when these spectacular miracles are going to ebb away.
[01:41:15] They're not going to be as the normal daily thing that we think they are.
[01:41:19] Okay?
[01:41:20] And that doesn't mean God has abandoned us and God's become distant.
[01:41:24] It means that he is inviting us into a deeper partnership with him.
[01:41:28] So I suggest that that's what God is trying to do right now in the church.
[01:41:31] He's inviting us into a deeper partnership than we've ever walked in before.
[01:41:36] Let me read one more scripture.
[01:41:38] Okay, this one's really powerful.
[01:41:41] And I saw something different in it this time.
[01:41:43] Years ago, the Lord spoke to me because I was struggling so bad in my everything.
[01:41:51] in my, you know, struggling to be a good husband, struggling to be a good father, struggling to be a good pastor.
[01:41:58] I mean, it was like I was kind of failing on all fronts of important life.
[01:42:02] And the Lord gave me this scripture.
[01:42:04] It says, it's in 1 Corinthians 3, 5, and 6.
[01:42:08] What then is Apollos and what is Paul?
[01:42:10] Servants in whom you believed, even as the Lord God gave opportunity to each one.
[01:42:13] I planted, this is what the Lord gave me back then.
[01:42:16] I planted Apollos water, but God was causing the growth.
[01:42:19] And this is what the Holy Spirit says.
[01:42:20] reason you're not doing well is you're in my space. I'm the only one who can give increase.
[01:42:28] You're trying to bring increase from what you're doing instead of just doing what I ask you to do.
[01:42:34] If you'll just do the planting and watering, I'll take care of the increase. Are you hearing me?
[01:42:40] And I'll tell you something, that set me free. It set me free from striving. It set me free to to really just be who I am and let God express through me and live through me.
[01:42:52] Well, here's what I didn't realize this until recently is the first verse I read is who was Paul and who was Apollos.
[01:43:02] They're just servants whom you believed.
[01:43:06] Did you get that?
[01:43:07] You see, planting and watering causes faith in people.
[01:43:13] Your faith, our faith is tied, your personal faith, and other people's faith is tied to you being a planter and waterer.
[01:43:26] A lot of times we think about faith, you know, just what you speak, which that's important, but it's also important that you plant in water what God has given you.
[01:43:34] And when you do that, other people's faith and your faith will get activated and begin to grow.
[01:43:40] Lots of times Christians are messed up in their faith because they're sitting still, they're not doing anything, they're not taking what God's given them and using it.
[01:43:49] Well, I wish I was talking to somebody.
[01:43:51] Y'all are just a rough crowd.
[01:43:54] Yeah.
[01:43:54] God alone causes the increase.
[01:43:57] Okay?
[01:43:59] He really does.
[01:44:00] We don't cause the increase.
[01:44:02] He does.
[01:44:03] But He does ask us to plant more with Him because the Holy Spirit's looking for some partners.
[01:44:10] He teaches us to cultivate what He has entrusted to us.
[01:44:13] What has God entrusted to you this morning?
[01:44:16] Ask yourself, what has God entrusted to me?
[01:44:18] What has God given me?
[01:44:19] What spiritual gifts?
[01:44:20] What natural gifts?
[01:44:22] What abilities?
[01:44:23] What has He given to me?
[01:44:25] And what are you doing with it?
[01:44:28] Now, if you're just doing it for yourself, then that's a mistake.
[01:44:31] Okay?
[01:44:32] It's a mistake.
[01:44:33] It's a bad mistake.
[01:44:38] The greatest miracle is not only experiencing God's provision, it's becoming a provision for other people.
[01:44:47] That's the miracle God's looking for.
[01:44:49] It's for us to become a provision for other people.
[01:44:57] So here's one thing I wanted to say to some people specifically.
[01:45:03] One, you're being given a fresh start in an area of your life that has been stagnant.
[01:45:11] You're being given a fresh start in an area of your life that has been gone stagnant.
[01:45:16] Now, I would tend to think more in the spiritual terms of that, but it could be something really natural.
[01:45:22] So what you need to do is you need to ask the Lord, what area of my life has become stagnant because God's saying if you can identify that area with the Holy Spirit God's saying
[01:45:35] I'm going to give you a fresh start in that area I'm going to give you another chance in that area I'm going to bring some renewal and some hope into that area of your life
[01:45:43] are you with me?
[01:45:46] yeah so let's just take a moment and ask the Lord that yeah because the Lord really is calling us into a new time calling us into a new crossing over in our lives.
[01:46:02] I just love that thing about the early Christians in the Roman Empire, impact in the world around them.
[01:46:11] By the way, yeah, my phone's ringing over there.
[01:46:15] It's Palmer.
[01:46:16] Palmer's calling me, y'all.
[01:46:18] Lord bless Palmer.
[01:46:20] Dean calls Palmer and tells him to quit calling me during church.
[01:46:23] One time I was preaching and my son called me right in the middle of my preaching.
[01:46:28] Okay, well, I was kind of concerned.
[01:46:30] So I'm like, I need to time out and answer them.
[01:46:32] Like, Dad, what are you doing?
[01:46:33] I'm preaching.
[01:46:33] Oh, I'm sorry.
[01:46:37] You know, I was thinking he would automatically know that's what I'm doing on a Sunday morning, you know, and not call me unless it was an emergency.
[01:46:45] So I was thinking it was some emergency with my kids, so I'm going to, like, answer the phone.
[01:46:50] Oh, sorry, Dad.
[01:46:53] I thought it was funny.
[01:46:54] Probably the people in the church at the time didn't think it was funny.
[01:46:58] Like, why is he answering the phone while he's preaching?
[01:47:00] All right, let's get back to this.
[01:47:02] Did anybody feel like the Lord was speaking to them?
[01:47:05] Yeah, I feel like God is talking to some people right now.
[01:47:09] You know, Becky and I have this thing we're constantly talking about.
[01:47:12] It's really the move of the Holy Spirit, okay?
[01:47:19] We're constantly trying to figure out how can we facilitate a move of the Holy Spirit?
[01:47:25] How can we make the right way, the right place, the right order of everything in this church for the holy spirit to come and move okay and it's not easy to do okay and so sometimes you do things
[01:47:39] and it doesn't work out okay it just doesn't really work it's like the wine skin because that's our job our job is the wine skin okay in our lives is to have a wine skin that god can pour
[01:47:53] the wine in okay and that applies not only to your church life but it applies to every part of your life okay and so but for us because we're working in the church we're working on having a wineskin
[01:48:04] in this church where the holy spirit can show up and have do what he wants to do and but it's but so it takes some experimenting so it takes experimenting in your own personal life as far
[01:48:16] as your relationship with the lord you know and not get stuck in some kind of rut with god you know in reading the bible or however however things work in your life is is to to experiment
[01:48:28] and find out what works find out what god will respond to and go with that and just go with that until he quits responding and then ask him how do you how to change you know do something different
[01:48:40] hey i did read this recently i thought was interesting i think i'm going to try it back when I first started preaching, I hand wrote my notes, okay, and then, of course, computers came along, so I was doing this before laptops were a big thing, and they have tabletops, but nobody
[01:48:59] wanted to go sit at some tabletop, okay, so I wrote everything, and then I shifted to typing it, and I realized I've lost something, okay, and so now they're saying this, they're saying that Writing scripture, okay, can actually be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
[01:49:21] It can actually bring renewal into your mind because it changes your brain elasticity or whatever that is, plasticity, okay?
[01:49:30] There's something about that neuroscience thing that writing scriptures can do.
[01:49:34] And this is another thing.
[01:49:35] If you're old or you forget a lot of stuff, they say writing scripture can actually help your memory.
[01:49:43] They've proven it, you know, writing a scripture.
[01:49:45] And they're not talking about writing like 20 pages of scriptures.
[01:49:48] That'd be like punishment, like write 100 times, I will not slap that guy.
[01:49:53] How many people had to do that?
[01:49:54] I did it so many times in school, it was humiliating.
[01:49:58] 100 times, and you're like, that ain't fair, 150.
[01:50:01] Okay, it was fair, just count this to 100, you know.
[01:50:05] But just like, even if you just took one verse, like starting in the Gospel of John, and write a verse a day down.
[01:50:15] And they say it's because you have to sit down and take your time.
[01:50:18] And as you're doing it, the Holy Spirit can begin to speak, draw a word out.
[01:50:23] But there's something happening in your mind.
[01:50:26] Your mind's being renewed by the Word of God.
[01:50:29] Isn't that cool?
[01:50:30] So I don't really know a lot about all the brain stuff, but I do think there's something to that.
[01:50:35] I don't know why I'm sharing it.
[01:50:36] I'm sharing it for me, y'all, and all the other people who forget things.
[01:50:41] So let's just go back.
[01:50:42] Lord, where's a place in your life you feel like the Holy Spirit's speaking to you that you've become stagnant?
[01:50:48] Maybe it's just in your relationship with Him.
[01:50:50] Maybe it's in your marriage or your relationship with your children.
[01:50:55] Those simple things.
[01:50:56] Or maybe on your job, you've become like just, you're not a good employee no more.
[01:51:02] You're not diligent in what you're doing.
[01:51:05] Or you're not diligent with your friendships that God's given you.
[01:51:08] People that He's brought in your life, you've ignored them.
[01:51:15] So those are things that God's really concerned about.
[01:51:17] You know, and I think when we begin to really respond to him in those areas, he gives us a fresh start.
[01:51:22] He gives us fresh oil, fresh anointing to begin to function again.
[01:51:26] And it begins to have an effect around us.
[01:51:30] Maybe it's just in the home for some of you.
[01:51:32] I just really know that's a big deal because it can be hard at times.
[01:51:37] So I just want to pray for you.
[01:51:39] Father, thank you this morning for the people in this room.
[01:51:42] Thank you for the Holy Spirit.
[01:51:43] But, Lord, I do believe you're asking everybody in this room to make room for you.
[01:51:48] I believe everybody in this room, Lord, there's a place in their life where we need to really think about the space we're not giving you and that we've gone through the motions at times and we've gone through a system versus a relationship.
[01:52:05] And, Lord, we're asking you to help us.
[01:52:07] We're asking you to help us to really have a renewed wineskin and have a place where you can really fill us up with the wine of your Spirit and with the anointing of Your Spirit.
[01:52:16] We're just asking You to do that where we can begin to really function and be the people You've called us to be, Lord.
[01:52:23] That we're not playing Christianity.
[01:52:25] We're not going through the motions.
[01:52:26] We're not going through the motions of our marriage and our family and our home.
[01:52:29] We're not going through the motions of that, but we're really being diligent people and paying attention to what's happening around us.
[01:52:36] And Lord, that we begin to pick up on Your vision for our life, Lord, and Your vision for what You want to do, Lord.
[01:52:42] that we would become those kind of people again if we've never been that kind of people where we were looking what does God want in this situation what's his heart in this situation Lord we're asking you to release that right now
[01:52:55] in Jesus name to us in a fresh way Lord let your power come right now Lord and begin to convict and draw us Lord and Lord let us lay aside those things that are burdening us
[01:53:07] and weighing us down Lord Jesus said, if you come to me, I will release you of those burdens.
[01:53:15] I will release you of the yokes of men and the yokes of the devils that have really caught you messed up and got you off track.
[01:53:22] That's what He does.
[01:53:24] And Lord, we just ask you to do that in Jesus' name.
[01:53:27] Give us a new perspective today.
[01:53:30] And Lord, where we see a lack of hope and where we see faults and troubles, Lord, we ask you to begin to help us Just see it the way you see it, Lord, because you have a dream for our lives.
[01:53:45] You have a dream for our lives, and we just ask you to renew that dream today.
[01:53:50] Yeah, just renew that dream.
[01:53:52] So raise your hand if you feel like you have a dream that needs to be renewed from the Lord.
[01:53:59] Just raise your hand.
[01:54:00] Stand up maybe so we can pray for you.
[01:54:03] Maybe your dreams have gotten dim.
[01:54:06] We just want to pray and ask the Lord to bring renewal in those dreams.
[01:54:11] hope deferred makes the heart sick it really does hope deferred makes the heart but a desire come true is a tree of life that's what the Bible says so I just want to pray for you
[01:54:31] the sickness of your heart where you know things have just gotten messed up just put a sickness in your heart inside of you Father thank you thank you that you you're a healer of our hearts
[01:54:44] that you go into our innermost self and you touch us in a place that only you can touch us.
[01:54:51] And so, Lord, you see everybody that's standing here that feel like their dreams have been put on the back burner, a loss of dreams, a loss of hope, a loss of what they felt that you had for them.
[01:55:03] I just ask you right now that that place where it's made them a little heart sick, it's made them a little disappointment, it's caused their faith not to be activated as it should be.
[01:55:16] And Lord, we're asking you right now, Holy Spirit, just receive like Holy Spirit come now right now on these hearts Lord I just pray for the toxin that's gotten in hearts the toxicity of the world
[01:55:33] the toxicity of all the media out there just bombarding us and all the things that are going on in the world that are just attacking our hearts and attacking our minds and getting in us
[01:55:43] and discouraging us and weighing us down Lord today in Jesus name Just begin to bring your anti-venom into us, into our spiritual life, Lord.
[01:55:56] And just begin to heal us, Lord.
[01:55:59] And restore our hearts, Lord.
[01:56:01] And take away disappointment and discouragement and disillusionment.
[01:56:07] Lord, we ask you, we give it to you.
[01:56:10] We give our disappointment to you right now.
[01:56:13] Just give it to them.
[01:56:14] Say, Lord, I'm disappointed about this, but I give it to you anyway.
[01:56:17] I'm disillusioned about this, Lord.
[01:56:19] Lord, I give it to you.
[01:56:20] I'm discouraged, Lord, but I just give it to you anyway, Lord.
[01:56:24] I release it to you today.
[01:56:27] And Lord, I pray right now, Holy Spirit, that you would come.
[01:56:32] You're a restorer.
[01:56:33] You are a restorer of life.
[01:56:36] Now I ask you to come and fill us with your life, Lord.
[01:56:39] And fill us, Lord, with hope today that we would no longer have hope deferred.
[01:56:46] I hope would begin to be fulfilled, Lord.
[01:56:49] Just come and fill us, Lord.
[01:56:54] Give us another chance, Lord, in those areas where we feel like we've just gotten stagnant and deep down, Lord.
[01:57:01] And I'll tell you this.
[01:57:05] I think Oliver said earlier, the Lord's not mad.
[01:57:07] He's not disappointed.
[01:57:09] He knows.
[01:57:11] Just sit here in the presence of the Lord for a minute.
[01:57:15] Just give the Lord a chance to work in your heart.
[01:57:20] Just give Him a chance.
[01:57:35] If anybody in this room, I don't know if I know everybody here, but if you don't know the Lord, if you've not ever invited Christ and given your life to Him, this is a good time to do it.
[01:57:51] It's easy to do, you know, it's real easy.
[01:57:54] All you've got to say is, hey, I want you, and I know you want me, and I give myself to you, and I know you're giving yourself to me, and I'm going to, and that's a lot more that goes on for that conversation,
[01:58:07] but that's a good start right there.
[01:58:09] It's a good place to start with Him, just to say that, that you're going to trust Him.
[01:58:14] You're going to trust Him with your life.
[01:58:15] You're going to trust Him.
[01:58:17] You're going to trust Him with your tomorrows.
[01:58:19] You're going to trust Him with all the mistakes and sins that you have in your life, that you're going to trust that He's going to take care of all that for you.
[01:58:27] You're going to believe that the blood of Jesus is sufficient for yesterday and today and tomorrow.
[01:58:34] I just want us to take another moment or two and just let the Holy Spirit do what He wants to do.
[01:58:40] [SPEAKER SPEAKER_08]
[01:58:40] When Byron was sharing about the dreams, actually was um smelled like i was in a funeral home um like their dreams that have been buried and that are dead even so if you feel that like you've you've buried a dream or i just feel like
[01:58:58] the lord has resurrection power for that and just right now lord we just i just ask you to resurrect resurrect dreams in this house, Lord, today. Lord, people who have buried things that they felt like
[01:59:12] you called them to, Lord, but they've not been able to get to them, Lord, we ask you right now in Jesus' name, Lord, those dreams would be resurrected. Lord, we just speak resurrection power right now, Lord, and that grief, the grief that is attached to that, Lord, right now, Lord,
[01:59:33] just lift it off right now in Jesus' name, we pray. Lord, thank you. And if that was you, I really feel like when we get the ministry team up here, would you please come up? Because I
[01:59:44] feel like the Lord really wants to touch that. So amen. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. So do we want to call the ministry team? Lord, the ministry team would come on up.
[01:59:55] Ministry would come on up and we'll, yeah. Yeah, we want to pray over these things. We still want to pray for the sick, lay hands on you. Um, can't tell you how many times people have prayed for me
[02:00:13] when I was sick and I got healed. So, um, yeah, don't hold back on that. So yeah, let's, and let's just be grateful for these people that give their time to pray. We are so grateful for them.
[02:00:28] Just thank you, Lord, for them. Just bless this ministry time. If y'all want to just stand up too, we're going to release you and we'll pray over you and release you. Thank you. Lord, we thank
[02:00:46] you today. Holy Spirit, we're just so grateful. So grateful, Lord, for your touch, for your life in us, Lord, that you want to live through us, Lord. And just thank you, Lord. We thank you for
[02:01:02] this people, Lord, today that are called by your name, Lord, that you would, Lord, we just send them out, Lord, just blessed and confident, Lord, that you have so much ahead. Lord, just strength and power that is in the name of Jesus, Lord. And there is just power in the name of Jesus,
[02:01:23] Lord, as we go out of here today, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Just that resurrection power.
[02:01:30] Thank you, Lord. Amen. Thank you, Lord. If you need prayer, please come on up.
[02:01:36] Amen. Otherwise, be blessed. We love y'all.
